Has anyone had any success rebranding the US version? Over at FH they said the only ones they've seen try have resulted in a hard brick. I'd like to update to C636 for more recent/frequent software updates...
Thanks!

Without debranding you must stay on cust c605 (Columbia?)
You can upgrade by HWOTA

So no way to update using the FirmwareFinder directly from that FW? I already run a lot of custom ROMs with Samsung and Motorola devices, it's my first Huwaei and I don't want to brick it...
(I'm from Brazil, but the phone was bought on Mexico or Colombia, I'm not sure)
Thanks,

Actually I see now you are on b135 which is probably MM EMUI 4.1 -in that case HWOTA as there will not work
I don't know about OTA upgrades from c605 b135, and why they don't come for you - but if you debrand to c432 you will have more options (OTA till b399 or even b502) and custom ROMs
Otherwise, DLOAD method must work for FullOTA-MF-PV versions (you can find FullOTA-MF-PV among older builds on FF) but you can't jump from b135 to b3xx, you must go gradually (people with c605 should know details)
Can someone explain to me where the different P20 Pro variants are from? I'm not talking about the L29, L09 and so on, but about c432, c652 etc. From what I've read one the forums so far, I reckon the L-29, c432 version which I have is the "best", however I haven't received the 131 update yet (I'm on 120) and that kind of worries me. One last question: my P20 Pro is brand new and after I inserted my SIM card I got an update (obviously from my carrier) named DT. GRC 8.1.0.4 (CT) (my current last installed update is CLT-L29 8.1.0.120 (C432)). The changelog is "-Optimized network interworking - essential and recommended apps" I don't really want to install it because it will apparently install bloatware from my carrier, but I'm confused about the higher version number (8.1.0.4 vs. 8.1.0.120). How come it is higher? And if I do install it will I continue to receive c432 updates as they are released or will I have to wait for my carrier to roll them out?
There is no best variant. The version are devided by World regions. The 432 is the European one. As for the update you got its from your network provider. I got it to too (DT. GRC 8.1.0.4 LT) but after I have received the. 128 version.

I don‘t think .131 is officially out yet. I have not seen an official changelog so far and most people that have it seen to have flashed it manually. so relax, it will come when it‘s ready.

So I have to install this update before I am able to install 1.28? I also thought about it before but I was hesitant to do it as the update from my carrier has (C150) at the end which probably means that after I install it my phone will change to C150 from C432 and I don't know the consequenses of that (my main fear is that then my carrier would have to approve updates before I receive them which would delay them even further). But if it is the only way I can be able to install 1.28 and any later update then I guess I'll do it.
P.S. I said C432 is the "best" because I see that anyone who wants to rebrand does so to the C432 variant so I reckon there are some advantages to it (like receiving updates quicker maybe?)
C432 it's the most common version around the globe. In order for an update to be compatible with your phone, should read c432. You can't install other than 432.

But I literally have it resumed right now because I accidentally began the download. I mean how would I even get it on my phone as an OTA if it wasn't compatible? My question is, after i install it will my firmware change from a free one to a branded one?
*EDIT*: I found the below really helpful article which I thankfully understood thanks to my knowledge of German. To sum it up, it basically says that it is natural for P20 Pro users to get an update from their carrier as soon as they insert a SIM card on their phone. It may appear to be a different firmware version (like in my case which was C150), however the update will only install a couple of apps from your carrier (which you are going to be able to uninstall anyway) and that it won't interfere neither with how quick and the way you receive updates nor your device's firmware variant. Here is the link to the article: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/huawei-p20-pro.3297/faq-branding-beim-huawei-p20-pro.876843.html
I think it should be pinned somewhere as I believe it would help more people because I've seen plenty others wondering the same thing
Can confirm that right after I installed the carrier update, version 128 was made available to download and the phone remained as C432. Problem solved, thanks Android-Hilfe.
In my case I receive the 128 first and after that the provider update. Now I'm waiting for the 131 or 132 update that's being released for c432.

Any news on whether anyone has received it yet as an OTA?

I did a thread on this...

Hello,
I own a P20 Pro CLT-L09 8.1.0 137(C109). It's a retail Orange version for French Market.
I got a Bootloader code (i recommand you Ministryofsolutions, it's very fast service and got code 5 minutes later).
Is there a way to rebrand my CLT-L09 c109 to CLT-L09 c432 and not CLT-L29 c432.
Because i would like to keep my bootloader unlocked. I hear it lock when it's new IMEI because of changing to CLT-L29.
yes its possible but it costs money if you do it with funkyhuawei. i think its like 7 credits to rebrand the region so it will be around 50-60 bucks
I wanted to go from C605 to C432 to get android 9
But to pay 60$ now and in a month I'll get it not worth it at least for me. Here in Brasil 60$ is almost 260 R$ thats too much.

as i said, i already have the bootloader code and i'm willing to do it by myself. But when i see tutorials here, there are for L29 cxxx to L29 c432.
Some users told they success upgrade their L09 to L29. But do not explain how to do it or what change in tutorials..
With the arrival of Harmony and new EMUI pro mate 9 updates, we are still able to rebrand to C00 china to receive Harmony or will all C432 C636 … …will receive Harmony?
I didn't find how to rebrand since we no longer have the Ffinder site to download the ROMs and make
Dead XDA mate9
thinking about rebranding as well to install Harnony OS. Read on another thread that needs to install several files, but the links are no longer valid. It would be good to have fresh valid links.
