I received the OTA for Oreo this morning, everything looked fine until I tried to activate Google's Auto-fill feature, but the service wasn't there, only Samsung pass was there and some 3rd party password managers could be downloaded but no Google Auto fill, so I did a Reset.
After the reset Google Auto-fill showed up, I was happy, until I tried to activate Bixby, No voice, only home.
I went into Apps and cleared the cache, data and uninstalled all of the updates to all of the Bixby services. Did not fix it.
Did both a soft and a hard reset, same Issue.
Stuff I Noticed:
When I go to (Bixby Settings > About Bixby)
Bixby voice doesn't show up at all, while Bixby Home shows up
If I try to use the dictate function a popup saying "voice recognition legal info" tries to load but fails and a second later another shows up saying "No Network Connection" and I have one!
Who else is having this issue? Any Idea on how to Fix it???
I have the an unlocked exynos Note 8. I can confirm mine is still running normally after the Oreo update.
Are you running any package disabler?

Nope, im running it as stock as it gets, I will try to flash a new firmware and update here
Update: I checked my S9+ which had Bixby working fine, the button didn't seem to work, I cleared the Bixby data and guess what? same issue now on the S9+
I believe its a nation wide issue in the UAE.
Im in the process of flashing a new software to test this theory
Update 2: I flashed a whole new firmware and used the CSC file to make sure everything is reset to factory
Still no bixby voice, on both my S9+ and the Note8 It most likely is a region issue.
Damn, I just checked and I also don't have Bixby voice anymore - I updated to Oreo by flashing the XEF firmware and used OTA

Must be a region issue like you said. I have a UAE Note 8 which got Oreo OTA today, and the Bixby button/voice still works as it should.

Anyone try to update their S8 to the day one update of QD9? I bought the Verizon version but using it on Tmobile through MintSim so my only option to update it is through the VZW Software Upgrade Assistance pos software. It sees and downloads the update fine. However, when it reboots the phone to the "Downloading...." screen, after a while I get a "Odin Protocol version error!" I rebooted the phone and tried again but to no avail.
*Edit* So, I just had to update the VZW software to the newest version and then that fixed it. The update went through fine. Lol
I've had my Verizon S8 since Friday and accepted the QD9 update later that evening. The only change I can tell is that the ability to legitimately remap the Bixby button has been removed. Sorry brother if that was your plan.

For future updates you may want to use Samsung Smart Switch instead than VZW software. I have the s8 verizon version with a different company and wasnt able to update until i tried with this Samsung software and I find it easier and probably better than the VZW app.
The updated VZW software is nicer and worked fine. I'll look into the Samsung software next time.
Hi All,
I have been trying to follow all of these threads and waiting to get my hands on some VZW firmware since I am on verizon. I was rocking the Unlocked firmware but with only VOLTE , which is ok but I wanted to have backup for WIFI-Calling. I noticed in the other thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ock-odin-files-firmware-t3833205/post77449285) a user said to use Sam Mobile to download the firmware which Took about 5 hours. I figured the APP could maybe pull it if I typed in the right Model and Region. I tried using some different ones and the one that worked was the model : SM-N960U1 with "VZW" as the region. I have attached the screen shot and also uploaded to google drive for people to easily download.. Enjoy !!! The exciting thing is I used Odin with the said files on top of running the unlocked firmware and used the Home CSC and my data was kept safe. Basically everything was the same and it included the crappy Verizon apps but now I have wifi-calling .. sorry just a little excited..
The full Firmware name is this : N960U1UEU1ARH2/N960U1OYM1ARH2/N960U1UEU1ARH2/N960U1UEU1ARH2

By flashing the VZW firmware you also lose the samsung cloud and also the places and Caller ID/Spam feature. Maybe more but that is as much as I can tell.
For me that's not a big deal

One thing I just noticed is that, using android messages was I thought working 100 % but then I had people calling me saying they were texting me and I wasn't getting them.. They would get the SMS I sent but I would not be able to recieve. I switched to the Samsung Native app and bam my messages were there. I don't know if thats because I did not wipe first before doing ODIN or not ..

This is a common issues with newer Samsung phones. Their implementation of Advanced Messaging is half-assed and unfortunately you almost always have to stick with their SMS app to not have issues. Luckily the app has been updated a lot since the S7 days and is no longer a steaming pile of garbage.

Are you using Verizon as your wireless carrier? How did you turn it on?
My note 9 (unlocked XAA) doesn't have any options to turn on Wifi calling when my Verizon SIM is inserted. But Wi-Fi Calling turns on with a notification in the shade, and I can toggle via phone>menu>setting>wifi calling, when my T-Mobile SIM is in the phone.
@KidJoe
I did this on My device, Unlocked to VZW. It worked.
Wifi calling is located in Settings>Connections>Advanced Calling. Make sure you have a proper cel signal when you activate it.
Notes:
- As OP mentioned, Use the Home CS file and all of your existing settings, apps, etc won't get wiped.
- I was surprised that there were only like 6-7 crapps that came from Verizon. Mostly Yahoo mail and a couple games. The Verizon "Security & Privacy" and Cloud apps cannot be removed. I kept the voicemail and caller ID apps.
Otherwise, it seems like a pretty quick and easy fix.

that is after flashing the rom in the OP though, right? (I mean that is how it is on my VZW branded Note8, GS9 and Gs8. Yes I have many phones.. don't ask)
I was reading NICEGYPT's post as if it was done on the unlocked without flashing which is why I asked.
Question though. Since I did flash my VZW branded GS8 with the unlocked/unbranded to get the Oreo beta, and back .. for that phone there were more steps than just flashing the rom... Requiring a factory binary and other home csc file, etc. That doesn't appear to be needed non the note 9, is that correctly?

Is there a way to get Samsung caller id/spam feature?
thank you for posting this! Will definitely try tonight on my unlocked Note 9 from BB, I did not realize that ordering the unlocked would disable wifi-calling with verizon.
Question: Will flashing the verizon firmware over my unlocked note 9 enable sending SMS via Wifi using the Android Messages app?
I'll be going on travel overseas, Wifi-calling is definitely nessasary for me, and sending SMS via Wifi using the stock android texting app would be icing on the cake
I also have US Unlocked from BB but on Verizon network.
Just to make sure that flashing this Firmware does not require OEM Unlock and won't disable Knox ?
hello
you don't need to reflash the firmware N960U and N960U1 are multi CSC so :
save all your data
- Power off the device
- remove the sim tray.
- Go to recovery , HOLD home ( or bixby button ) + Volume up together , and power up
- In recovery , chose factory reset .. This will give a warning and then reset everything
- Choose power off , in the recovery and insert sim tray .. you should do this before booting up as your CSC will be configured when you will start
- Power on the phone , wait and . then chose restart to system now when asked
- wait and after reboot , your CSC have change according the sim tray
some peoples do this without remouving the sim tray

4.Improves the Bluetooth® connection performance.
Yep I'm getting one now on my unlocked version. Looks like it addresses slo-mo recording plus a security update. Nothing on Samsung Pay or Bluetooth, although I'm not having any problems.
Nothing yet for me on Verizon.
Funny, since I have an unlocked phone, wifi calling isn't an option with AT&T and in fact has never even shown up in the settings. After this update, the option is now there but it fails when I try to enable it. I had to turn off notifications for phone because it was notifying me constantly to turn on wifi calling. Another new setting turned up though and was by default enabled, Volte calling.
Finally any update for the unlocked version after 3 freaking months!!!
Nothing yet for T-Mobile units.
Any reason I shouldn't install this?

Same here. I've been having an issue with Google Pay where it just stops working and requires a reboot to fix it. That being said, isn't Android Pay apart of Google Pay?
Android Pay is now Google Pay, they are one thing now. Rebranded and everything. Also, nothing here on my TMO S9 either yet.
After this update I see a few people reporting(including myself) that upon phone locking the s9/s9+ will just down. Any other people getting this issue?
Update Broke Bluetooh
After this update my Bluetooth randomly disconnects. I have contacted Samsung with no resolution. I have reset and cleared cache and data on the Bluetooth app, and I have done a network, wifi, and blueTooth systems settings reset.
This is very discouraging, especially since I am diabetic and use my phone to monitor my Dexcom G5 glucose sensor.

Hello,
I have an Exynos Note9 SM-N960F, no root, factory original software, unbranded, Oreo 8.1. I have disabled firmware upgrades with Package Disabler, because I didn´t want to go to Pie and loose call recording, so I am still on Andoid 8.1.
Now I am planning to upgrade from Android 8.1 to Android 10, but in the process I would like to preserve call recording and also gain WiFi Calling (with I don´t have right now, but my provider ClaroAR does support).
Can you suggest the best firmware fo flash meeting my requirements (call recording + WiFi calling)? I have read tons of threads on XDA, but still It is not clear to me if firmware flashing (with the right firmware, India perhaps??) is enough or I also will need CSC change after flashing. Very confused about this.
More information:
Android version 8.1
Baseband: N960FXXU2ARJ1
Service provider SW ver.:
SAOMC_SM-960F_OXM_XSP_OO_0018
XSP/XSP,XSP/XSP
Also, using Phone Info I get:
Original CSC Code: <blank>
Firmware´s CSC Code: XEU
Active CSC Code: XSP
Thank´s in advance for any help/suggestions.
[UPDATE]: I have checked the command *#272*IMEI*, and it shows a lot of CSCs available, including INS. But I didn´t apply the change. I don´t understand if changing CSC this way will block all future updates to my phone. Also I am not sure if INS CSC does include WiFi Calling...
Google has call recording still disabled https://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1877-android-10-call-recording.html
Root you're phone and use Dr's rom
Im on android 10 with automatic call recording works great for me
Wow Oreo!
No problems with battery drains, good manage of connectivities, no problems for recording calls, every thing worked good without any big issues and with the best gestures and camera app ever made for a Samsung with the possibility of recording videos even in pro mode (a feature now returning with S20) ... to be onest, if I could, I'll return to the last version of it because it was perfect!
So, if I was you, I'll try to find on sammobile the last version of oreo for the device and I'll install it with Odin and leave all like this till it dies!
The only thing that not shall be good are the security patches with the phone being stuck on the old ones, but, sincerely, since now I never heard or read in genaral something on security problems that involves OS problems... mostly for hackering, opening emails, going on not safe wifi's and web pages, buying in not safe places or for installing apps (even from the play store) and if this can happen to everyone even having the latest patches, I'm even thinking now that all these security patches are even worthless for a normal consumer unless your a politican, a manager or doing a job that requires the max privacy possible that you can have...
Question: there are several threads about CSC changing via flashing and so on. I wonder if those CSC change method are equivalent to changing it with the command *#272*IMEI# ???
If I go to *#272* on my SM-N960F, I have a long list of CSCs, including INI (India, which eventually I want to change to), but I didn´t apply yet because not sure of the consequences, and if this step is eventually reversible.
By the way, I am considering joedellosso69´s comments about Oreo/Pie/Q, and perhaps I will stay with Oreo, but in order to get WiFi Calling, I think that changing CSC is mandatory... as far as I understand...
Any help? Thank you!
[FIXED] Finally jumped from Oreo to Android 10 and CSC change, without root
Just in case someone is interested, I have finally jumped from Oreo to Android 10, and got Call Recording and WiFi Calling. This is what I have done, step by step:
- Backed up everything
- Took out SIM Card and SD Card
- Factory Reset from bootloader (to kill disabled software updates)
- Started the phone just with the basic data (no restore, etc)
- Checked for updates... Android Pie was there. Installed.
- Reboot. Checked for updates ... October update was there. Installed.
- Reboot. Checked for updates... Android 10 update was there. Installed !!
- Now is time to change CSC
- Factory Reset from bootloader
- Started the phone just with the basic data (no restore, etc)
- Phone booted on CSC=XSP as expected
- Entered *#272*IMEI# and shows CSC=XSP.
- Changed CSC for THL (Thailand). Saved on 2 options: Sales and Network CSC
- Automatically phone factory resets again
- WITHOUT inserting SIM Card, phone starts, now with CSC=THL
- Verified that has Call Recording. VoWiFi does not appear, but it is there. Only appears when you have the SIM Card inserted.
- Power off phone
- Inserted SIM Card and rebooted
- Verify that CSC=THL, and both call recording and VoWiFi working perfectly.
- Restored everything, all perfect, no problems, no battery issues, phone as new, with Android 10.

YUP agree wholeheartedly - did exactly that and have been on oreo 8.1 ever since and I love it until a few months ago when they shut off 3g !!! like wtf - so now my fone intermittently works on 4g , lost all caller ID and i have to switch manually every time to 2g to send/receive texts!! would you know of any way to somehow force LTE to work - for some reason LTE can't be enabled on my version of oreo 8.1 on my note 9 t-mobile
Let me preface this with this issue began with the February security update. I cannot say for certain that they are related, however it’s difficult to believe that they are not. Tuesday after installing the February security update my phone and lost the ability to connect to Tmobile’s data network. It can still call, text, send MMS, and run speed tests. I’ve been working with one of the engineers at Tmobile corporate in Bellevue Washington. They have gone above and beyond looking at the switch, refreshing my account By suspending and reactivating it. They have had my Sim card swapped multiple times. When I put my Sim card into my old phone I have data connectivity like normal. Does anybody hear have any insight or anything to try on a pixel five to possibly undo whatever the February security update did.
Update. Best Buy replaced the phone outside of normal warranty. As soon as it got the February security update the problem is back.
Clear system cache.
Do a network reset.
Double check all related settings.
Now you know why I don't update...

Ouch. That sucks.
Try a factory reset if you haven't.
Most likely it was the update.
If a reload doesn't get it, reflash the firmware.
It may be a hardware failure if a reflash to the last known good rom doesn't get it.

Don't have time for any of that anymore sadly. Best buy does kick ass they swapped me into a S20 FE. Did get an email from google acknowledging that this is a known bug since January.
Go into settings and check your APN settings. I had to delete one and switch to another to get my data working again.
