Hi everyone,
I have an issue with Facebook app: no badge count appears on icon.
Tried with push notifications on/off and other Android notification settings, but without result.
I come from a X Compact with Nougat and displayed badge count correctly, even with push notifications off.
Am I missing something?
Thanks.
WhatsApp badge count works perfectly, but no counting is shown on Facebook icon.
Repeat: no issue with Nougat or previous versions of Android.

Have same issue on LOS but for Gmail with Nova and Tesla unread. Others work fine. Uninstalling/reinstalling any or all the makes no difference. Am not giving it that much attention as LOS is in beta. Just that Gmail is the most important badge for me.

Hi,
I have some wierd Notification problems; For example Apps like the Facebook Messenger or Slack only send notifications when I open the app itself;
I already added those apps to autostart and locked them in the recent app overview. But they still don't appear;
Whatsapp and Gmail seem to work fine?
Do you guys have any idea?
Cheers,

did you find the solution?
I am using the Indian Exynos version. Initially the unread badge count was showing on whatsapp and Facebook icons on Samsung launcher. But of late they don't show. The count shows for messages, calls etc. Any way to fix this?
Anyone else having this issue?

Does clearing badge count and having someone send a new text work?

I have a Note 8 on At&t and Verizon. I have Facebook Messenger on both phones. Most notifications do not come through, i do not see a chat head pop up nor do i see a badge on the app. They only pop up when i open the app. I have reinstalled the app on the Att Note 8, i have tried installing Messenger Lite. All other apps still work fine (WhatsApp, messages, Duo, Etc) This is only a facebook problem. I have made sure the permissions are all set to yes, it is on the internal storage, volume is up, notifications in app and on the phone are set to allow. But it will randomly show notifications but a majority of the time it will not show or make a sound for any facebook messenger notifications. I have tried with wifi connected and not connected. Once i close the app it is like it no longer runs in the background.
Any suggestions?

Just bought my Note 8 N950F/DS for a few days having the same problem .... still finding solution .... no battery optimization for facebook messenger ... tried everything still not work ... factory reset still the same .... really out of option for now.... continue searching ...
edit: Looks like this may help:
Go to Settings - Apps
Click Menu in top right and select - Special Access
Select - Optimize Battery Usage ->
Click the dropdown menu towards the top of the screen that says: "Apps not optimized" - change to - All Apps
Turn off Messenger
Finger cross

Not sure why they're not coming through. I have a T-Mobile variant with no issues of messages and chat heads through messenger. I know you said you have checked your permissions but got to menu>settings>apps>messenger and check them there.
try "metal" from the play store and see if notifications work. it's a lightweight version of facebook app.
I have tried facebook lite and i have even set my facebook messenger in the special access to off but previously i had them all off. But i'll cross my fingers and see.
I am in the same boat. Same issue. All other notifications work except FB messenger. For a while i had messenger lite for a while and then installed the full messenger and that is when things stopped working. I've tried everything except wiping my phone at this point. To me it seems like the system keeps putting the app to sleep although i have as not monitored app.
I tried using Dual Messenger option ... and let it install 2nd app for Facebook and Messenger ... then i use my account on the 2nd app for both ... notification works perfectly. hope will help.

It seems to be working with the 2nd app. But my OCD kicks in and I can't stand that orange icons. :crying: but I will take it. BTW if anyone plans on wiping their phone it won't fix it. I just installed the Oreo beta with a complete wipe and didn't fix it.
Sorry been busy with work. I will try the dual message app and see if that works. I am using Nova Launcher on both my Note 8's weirdly enough it seems i get the messages on my Verizon variant but not my At&t one. Both have battery optimizer turned off. But thank you for all the feed back. I'll try dual messenger now.

Do you guys turn off notifications for the first app or leave them all on?

I contacted the customer service from France. They have no idea what's the problem. Their only suggestion is to go to a reparation center to explain the issue and try to find a solution...

Hello there,
I tried several Android 9 custom roms from the local xda rom forum and faced an issue with WhatsApp notifications in all of them.
When I use the phone and receive a new message, it shows a notification for it properly, I also get notifications in the lockscreen if the phone was used like 5 minutes ago.
But as soon as the phone is unused for like 15 minutes and I wake it up, no WhatsApp notifications are shown (notifications from other apps are), neither in the lockscreen nor after I woke it up. I then need to open the app manually, only then I get all new messages and corresponding notifications at one blow.
So far, WhatsApp is the only app where I noticed this problem, notifications from other apps like Telegram and Gmail work without trouble and as intended.
I always do a clean flash, don't use any customizations and set up WhatsApp freshly. I also excluded WhatsApp from Doze in the battery settings, but this didn't solve the problem.
In MIUI and other Nougat-based roms, I don't face this issue. I didn't test many Oreo-based roms to give a report about them concerning this issue.
I'm not sure if I do something wrong or if there really is an issue.
Do WhatsApp notifications work for you without problems?
Or do some of you also face this issue? If yes, were you able to fix it?

That are aggressive doze settings
Which is ysed for good battery backup.
I am having same issue with WhatsApp.
Gmail and Telegram works fine for me, there is no issue with that. but i have issue with Instagram direct message that it does not shows until i open app but other notifications such as comment, new following are shown properly but i think it is a bug with Instagram since other notifications working fine.

Hi, I have an issue with GMail Notification in my Poco M3 Pro... hope someone can help pls...
GMail Notifications are visible on lock screen and notification shade, but it does not play sound for each incoming email.
I have turned off adaptive notifications
In GMail App, I have set notifications to All and Inbox Notifications to Notify for every message
However, I hear email notification sound at times for some messages but not for all incoming emails
Am I doing anything wrong?

I found out an alternative way for now... Go to app manager and uninstall all updates to the GMail app... After uninstalling updates the GMail notifications work absolutely fine... However, you cannot update the GMail app after uninstalling updates...
Understand your trick, thanks.
But I don't want to downgrade GMail app...
I think it's a bug in GMail (version) or in the ROM (notifications), I don't know.
I will wait
thanks again y5krahul.

Welcome! I also guess it's an issue with Gmail app... Hence I have raised this issue few days back in Google community.
Below is the link to my post in Google community
Sound notifications not playing for all incoming emails - Gmail Community
Upvote on your link done.
Same issue with an other app : Medisafe
Medisafe Pill & Med Reminder - Apps on Google Play
Stay on track with your medicine & pills! Never forget another med or pill!
play.google.com
In the settings, resolve problems, I can try the step 2 : verify notification sound is enabled
click on the button :
" instruction not found "
so no sound for notifications with this app too...
If I remember, we have possibility to set limit of voice notification per hour or day or minute ?
If not all notifications work, maybe this is it?
Gmail play sounds on notifications for me now... Don't know if it's an update or something else.
Other apps still have problems.

Cool, I will update GMail app in that case and let you know whether notifications work for me!
