The "Immersive Mode" itself is a awesome feature right? But it's really annoying
that some apps don't make use of this beautiful way to enjoy a bigger screen.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could define the way it works yourself?
Well now you can with "Immersive Manager".
"Immersive Manager" allows you to tweak every aspect of where and how the
"Immersive Mode" should work on your device.
You can either define a global "Immersive Mode" which will be applied system wide.
Or if you wanna go further you can define the "Immersive Mode" per-app.
The following options are available and can be applied individually:
Full -> will hide both the status bar and the navigation bar
Status -> will only hide the status bar
Navigation -> will only hide the navigation bar
None -> will leave both system bars visible
No root required!
No draining background services!
No hacky or buggy overlays!
Just a simple and clean user interface which applies your settings in real time.
In order to make "Immersive Manager" work the WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission must be granted.
Normally this permission is only granted to system applications because it allows the app to write system settings.
If you're device is rooted you can grant the permission from inside the app with just one click.
Otherwise you have to do it manually with a simple ADB command.
You will find a detailed tutorial inside the app.
The internet permission is used for analytics only.
Last Changelog:
• Improved tutorial
• Added a warning for incompatible apps

@IVIanuu Thanks for the app i just bought it. It would be appreciated if an option to apply on reboot would be added in future updates. Best of Luck!
Would be nice if it was possible to choose immersive mode only for landscape for example. Like when you are on chrome in landscape, the proportion of place taken by the status bar is much greater than on portrait mode.

@IVIanuu, By the way when I go to System/About Phone/Software Updates that page doesn't go to immersive mode when using per app strategy, on Global Immersive Mode it works fine. I hope this will be fixed soon.
I am using per app settings and I have almost all apps in full immersive except for two. Also my phone is an HTC U11+.

Glad that you like it. It's not required because my app writes the settings to the system so they are persisted.

This is not possible with the current implementation because the app does not run in the background.

Pushed a new update ->
• Added a blacklist for apps which will ignore them in global and per app mode
• Under the hood changes
• Bug fixes

On my phone it's not and I would assume other HTC phones and brands have the same issue probably because of their navigation bar customization. This probably wouldn't have been the case with AOSP Roms or Google stock rom. But in my case I need to use Adb commands with each boot on PC or apply it through your app, hence the need for apply on reboot.
Also one more suggestion could you include system files or apps in per app settings menu.

I understand but why does it work on Global and not per app, I think i might have a clue when you're applying immersive effect on per app configuration you're missing to include a system file or apk responsible for the Software Updates page. I hope I got my point across.
Why I am saying this, because when I run adb commands through the PC I can make that page immersive without issues.
Thanks again for your work and time.
Edit:
I just installed the latest update and i am happy you added system apps to the per app settings menu. It also solved the issue i had with the "Software Updates" page not being immersive. Thanks again for your work.

Hello OP! Greetings.
I just purchased Immersive Mode Manager and it's working beautifully.
But I have a problem.
When I use Facebook from Chrome browser and scroll down to the bottom of a post and attempt typing to reply, the keyboard covers the writing area. Hence, I cannot see what I am typing. It also happens on other web pages.
Please help.

Android Pie Support?
Hi there I tried installing this on Android Pie but it does not seem to work. Is it supposed to work with Android Pie?

Just thought I'd pass this along. Before the NS, I used the hell out of "Extended Controls" ... Sadly, most of the toggles I would have liked to use do not work with the NS (2.3 compatibility issue?). Emailed the dev and got responses right away saying it will be updated next week. Next week came and gone ... came and gone again. Dev is probably behind with RL stuff so sooner or later it will be updated. In the mean time, I found an awesome alternative with more features ... and its free.
Widgetsoid2.X
Highly customizable power control widget ... and can even be configured to add a power control widget from your notification bar drop down.
Yeah I really like widgetsoid. Since cm team still hasn't got the flashlight working I use its flashlight widget inside the notification bar. Works great.

great app, been using it for a while now. but how do you put the widgets in the notification bar? can't seem to find it

ohh that's a nice find
Odd. Both my wife and I use extended controls fine. I find if you restore it via Titanium, it doesn't work but if you do a fresh install of it, everything functions great. Good find though.

The widget isn't really not put in the notification bar. It puts the image of your widget there but when you click on a power control it brings up the power control in an overlay of your screen where you then select which power control you want to turn on/off. For me (not short on screen space) its no quicker than using regular widget on the screen.
thanks! I've been using extended controls even though it wasn't fully operational w/gingerbread. Just dl'ed widgetzoid and bluetooth works! Liking the vertical option too..
I was really impressed by Widgetsoid and its developer 2 weeks ago. I found a bug, emailed the dev, and got a response in like an hour. Within like 2 hours of emailing him, he tracked down the bug and incorporated a fix into the next release. Now that's service.
we reported it a while ago
http://www.mobiflip.de/2011/01/andr...-benachrichtigungsleiste-einfach-nachruesten/
(p.s. google translate is your friend )
The thing I really like is how easy it is to edit existing widgets. Saves a lot of time if you just want to add or remove something from a power control type bar
the app is good, no doubt, but it's a major pain in the back to configure
some options are no longer available after you hit apply
so if you ever want to change them again, you can't (for example the invisible option, there are a few more that are no longer accessible after it was saved)
and the only alternative is to delete it, and create a new one

Guess that's why I'm sticking with extended controls. Profiles are so easy to edit.
but once you master this App, it's a big treasure chest!
once everything was properly setup and configure, it easily replaced 7+ apps
TeslaLED
tons of On/Off Widgets
Ace Volume
Battery info
crap load of other ones i uninstalled
i setup 4 rows, maybe gonna add 1 more for 5 rows for Apps
that's the nice thing about this app, you can create custom shortcuts to make it launch your most used apps, from the Notification area
i simply love it

are you guys able to enable/disable Data with Widgetsoid 2.x on Nexus S using Gingerbread 2.3.. (unrooted?).
Most items work, but this one does not toggle Mobile Data on/off on my phone. I dunno if this is a security limitation right now with this OS.

Yeah I noticed this too. Was a shame, cause this is the main reason I was after this. I guess this functionality of directly enabling/disabling from the task bar cannot be enabled in stock roms without direct framework changes.

Hi,
Widgetsoid need root only for the reboot toggle
For the data on Nexus S just restaur your apn, check your data is enable and go to global preferences of widgetsoid and check "disable all apn".
Now it have to work.

Android don't allow event on notifications it's an android limitation not an widgetsoid error/limitation.
On HTC rom it's works directly because HTC have modify android source code to allow this. HTC users are lucky. Next version have an option to disable popup after click on notification.

I'm developing application that allows you to control tablet with multitouch gestures. Root access is needed. Currently it allows to execute following gestures:
Back:
Swipe 2 fingers from top downward
Home:
pinch 3-4 fingers
Show/Hide status bar:
Swipe 2 fingers from bottom upward
Please try it out and let me know what you think. What other features or actions would be helpful?
You can download it here:

There are a lot of requests for status bar hiding widgets or apps. So you just start the application when you need to hide status bar (for example before browsing or gaming). You don't lock your device in the middle of gaming.
In my opinion it is still better than all other bar hiding apps (and I'm talking about free version of my app). You have to click something in all of them (and here you click - start app). Just in my app you have the opportunity to control your tablet while bar is hidden.
But if you think this version is useless, I value your opinion.

I'm developing on 7.7 myself, so it is tested well on it.
You don't get any error messages, notifications on gestures nothing? Does the last button in settings screen (Status bar toggle) works (hides/unhides) status bar?
I'm now using this and works brilliant. Finding the swipe gestures to suit me. Hiding and unhiding status bar no lag. Keep up the good work. Bought full version.

I will add setting to turn off toast message on unlock (when tutorial mode is switched off). However free version will stay for occational use. Application contains a lot of native code that will need support with new versions/devices. And the application is niche anyway. I really tried using this version myself and I find it usefull, but you can propose different model, I'm open for ideas.

The annoying part :

I'll be happy to buy only one (taskbar hidding ) for 0.49.

Well, there are other apps for this (HideBar - free, Honeybar - 1$), my intention is to evolve the gesture part. Allow to create your own gestures and define your own actions.
Any chance of making the gestures more like the ipad? E.g. 5 finger pinch to home? Its a more natural closing type gesture imo

Changed gestures to multitouch (see first post).
Also fixed a bug that I think prevented actions from working on some devices.
Excellent, thanks!
I just bought it and it recognises my gestures fine but it stopped doing anything after the first gesture?
It still pops up with home etc but doesnt do the action.
If i open the gesture app and disable and reenable the service again it works for one action and stops again
Maybe this is obvious for some, for others, maybe not.
Just another option for a different battery notification.
1. It lives in something called the System UI Tuner
2. To turn on System UI Tuner, you'll have to enable the developer options on your Android 6.0 Marshmallow device. To do this, head into Settings, 'About Phone'. At the bottom of the list you'll see the "build number" for your device software. Tap on this repeatedly and it will unlock the developer options that will be added to the settings menu.
3. Enable System UI Tuner. Swipe down the Quick Settings panel and you'll see the settings gear icon at the top of the display. Press and hold this.
It appears at the bottom of the settings menu.
4. Open up this menu and you'll find a range of options. Toggle "show embedded battery percentage" and you'll get the battery figure added to the icon, so you can always glance at it.
That's it!
You have to keep System UI Tuner enabled in order for the % to show.
Pull down quick notification panel
Press battery icon
On a upper right you will see 3 icons:
Refresh/battery/settings dot's
Press battery icon.
You have 4 choices of battery style.
No need to activate system UI menu.

I concur with the above statement as I was also a bit disappointed about no percentage inside the circle. I also missed hearing about this feature as well. So I think a few of you who thanked the guys trying to say that OP was wrong need to thank the OP and remove your thanks from a quote that obviously was done without fully understanding OP's @vikeor point.... LOL :good:
Thanks! I hated having just the battery percentage on my notification area. I was also disappointed that embedded %age in circle option wasn't there. That used to be my go to battery view. Now i have it back. Thanks to you.
I activated system ui tuner but I deactivated it (upper right) and now even with the long press on the icon, it don't appear, just open the setting and go directly at the bottom but without system ui tuner.
It's not that I want it, I just wonder why I can't make it appear anymore (but I won't activate it in the end).

TaskerAuto
TaskerAuto allows you to run Tasker tasks from your headunit. That's pretty much it.
I have some home automation gear at home and wanted to open my garage door from the headunit. I already had a Tasker task to do it, so why not be able to run any task from Android Auto?
If you use something like Home Assistant, it means you can do basically anything with your home automation from your car.
How to use:
1. Open TaskerAuto on your phone and select which tasks you want to be available in-car.
2. Have developer mode enabled in Android Auto.
3. Click on the little gauge icon in Auto (on far right) and select TaskerAuto.
4. Your list of tasks should appear. Clicking a task will run it.
Thanks to Emil Borconi from this thread for helping me get the app to run in the last tab.
EDIT: For some reason I can't attach files. Google Drive Link. Puu.sh Mirror
Great idea!
I'll check it. :good:
However, I have another "complementary" idea: Use some Bluetooth hot number in the phonebook for triggering Tasker actions. With this you can also trigger the same actions "dialing" the code... Useful when the AA is not running.
If you like to include also this other function, please contact with me (I have one indirect mode to do it).

Hi!
I use other tools compatible with Tasker. It's this App working as a Tasker plug-in, or it can only work with Tasker?
I ask this because I don't see anything when I open this App.
Thanks for the idea, and sorry it's not working for you =(
I'm using the query described here:
tasker.dinglisch.net/contentprovider.html
to retrieve the list of tasks. So it's not really running as a plugin, and it may only work with Tasker.

OK, thank you for sharing it.
One suggestion: You like to incorporate an alternative mode to trigger actions? For example sending a broadcast EVENT or similar? For example, see the documentation of Tasker plugins: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/plugins-intro.html
One option is create a "Event Plugin" and add to your App a list of actions (Action1, Action2, etc.), then any user can link these actions to Tasker Events in any compatible App.
For example, try these two free Apps compatible with Tasket plugins:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bartat.android.robot
You agree?
Hi @MostoX,
Any option to upgrade your source code supporting Tasker "Event Plugin"?

Sorry manos I don't have time to do that. But if you'd like to take a look at it, I can put the source up somewhere. It's very simple.

Ok. Then, please craete a GitHub account an put your project there. Then we can do some mods for improving it.
You agree?
Hi again,
Code can be found here: https://github.com/IVData/TaskerAuto
Dude, thank you! :good::good::good:
Hi, when I run the app, there is no list of tasks, it's just blank. Any idea why? Tasker is definately running (there are active tasks).

Thank you, that solved the issue with the list.
I also had to change some settings in the developer menu to get the tasks to show up in the car menu. Working great now.
I love your app!
Improvement suggestion:
Automatically change the colors of the task list with day/night time. During the night the white is extremely bright on the screen.

Hi,
The tasks are not showed in my car menu.
I can't realize this step :
3. Click on the little gauge icon in Auto (on far right) and select TaskerAuto.
In which application ?
"I also had to change some settings in the developer menu to get the tasks to show up in the car menu."
Could you indicate the details of the modifications in the developper parameters.
Thanks for your help.

The shortcut is the one on the far right in the bottom black navigation bar. See picture below:
http://www.vwcarnetconnect.com/images/android-auto-os.png
These are the settings I have enabled in the developers menu (translated from dutch so may be slightly different):
- Application mode: developer
- Disable ANR check
- Unknown sources

Hi Pierreken,
Thank you vey much for your help.
All is ok now. I can use this useful app.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks fot the app.
But after the last Android auto update.. it's not longer showing under the shortcut, instead shows an app list for AA.
Thank you and sorry for my english
I found android auto (official not available in the netherlands, but got apk mirror), understanding you can build plugins for it... thats how i found this tread. Sounds like a great plugin.
Toke a while until i found out how to enable developer mode for android auto in the newest version.
https://developer.android.com/training/auto/testing/index.html#phone
so.. you have to tab the header 10 times in the about screen before the menu option is available.
however now thats done.. tasker is open.. task is selected in the app... but no option/plugin/shortcut is available inside the dashboard of android auto. Is it only available on the screen of your car, or should it also be available on your phone display (i only have the last one).
Or is the plugin not working with the most recent version of android auto?
I want to run a navigation program in phone, and then run android auto mirroring code, so to have one android auto shortcut to make both..
Can i do this somehow with this?
Thanks,

squeezes | presses
What is SideSqueeze+?
SideSqueeze+ is an app that brings extended functionality to your unrooted (or rooted) Galaxy device, helping you to do more. It is only compatible with some Samsung Galaxy devices from 2017 onwards, however many users have reported success with Pixel devices, including the Pixel 5, hence why it is being posted here. I do not have a Pixel 5, so I cannot develop for it at this time beyond what users are reporting to me.
Your privacy is valued. This app does not contain ads or employ trackers, nor does it collect or harvest your data in any way. It does not have the ability to access the internet, regardless of whether or not special permissions are enabled, as can be verified in the app's manifest file.
SideSqueeze has grown beyond just squeezing & pressing and has become SideSqueeze+, however to the best of my knowledge, the extra features of the Plus module only work on Galaxy devices, so they are not mentioned in this post. The core feature of this app is detecting both squeeze and press gestures via the analysis of barometric sensor pressure data.
IMPORTANT! For certain actions to work, such as: immersive status/nav toggles, rotation toggle, a command has to be run from a computer via Android Developer Bridge (adb). Instructions can be found from within the app on the Help tab. This step only needs to be performed once.
Features (not all available in trial mode)
No root required
.
Lightweight app, only 3 MB
.
7 detectable squeeze types (single, double, triple, quadruple, long, long double-squeeze, and inertial)
.
3 detectable press types (single, long, and 2-finger)
.
The graphical analyzer tool visually plots your pressure wave, allowing you to precisely adjust the engine to your unique needs
.
Independently selectable criteria allow you to assign multiple actions to any trigger type (if lockscreen open, if homescreen open, if camera open, if within 5-seconds of power on, if the phone is ringing, if in-call, or if screen is off)
.
App picker to launch any app
.
Tasker integration to launch any task
.
Quick Settings tile to toggle detection engine
.
Wide selection of common actions, such as flashlight toggling, status bar toggling, etc
.
Adjustable pressure thresholds
.
Calibration assistant to customize squeezing/pressing to your device's unique characteristics
.

See the in-app Help section for answers to commonly asked questions.
Where do I get it?
SideSqueeze+ is available in the Play store!

I can implement this, but I don't see the use for it due to the fact that the lockscreen is always up anyway. What were you using it for?

I thought that option "when screen off" mean that squeeze will start app in case when phone is not secured/locked.
I'm using squeeze for opening "phone" app, so in case when I'm @trusted place (smart lock) phone is not locked and it would be nice that squeeze directly turn on screen, "jump" over lockscreen and show phone or whatever app you choose.
Btw I also noticed that sometimes after phone is locked (and goes to to deep sleep) squeeze don't work. Randomly, I can't find pattern. I gave all permissions to app (device admin, notifications on, battery saver disabled).
Sorry, I didn't see your reply. For SideSqueeze to function while the screen is off, you have to enable the wakelock setting by opening General Settings (the gear icon on top of the About tab).
I don't think Android offers a way to disable the keyguard, even if it is unlocked. Sadly Android is becoming more and more restricted with each passing version.

Hi,
thank you for the tipp. Can you tell the exact command which works with the Pixel 5? The command which is mentionend in the App doesn't work.
This app is much like edge sense plus for the pixel 3 etc devices.
Bit, since this feature technically I think, exists on the pixel 5 I've paid for and used this app to replace what I didn't want to lose, functionality-wise.
Great app!

Did you do the calibration step at the app introduction? Like, after opening the app for the first time.

Yes, of course. Many times and squeeze works perfect...when app is working.
But this last complaint about deep sleep is not so noticable because I usually unlock phone before squeeze.
