T-Mobile LG G6 performance issues and stuttering. - T-Mobile LG G6 Questions & Answers

I bought my LG G6 3 weeks ago and was super excited with this being my first water resistant phone, But I've noticed a handful of problems tied to performance and lag. The performance issue that showed up first is on certain apps like Geometry Dash and Pixel Gun it kind of stutters but doesn't actually lag. Pixel Gun also gets this phone considerably hot with battery temps reaching 37 Celsius, but 31 Celsius max on Asphalt 8 Airborne, weird. Another thing that happened today is I tried to press the home button from the app store but it wouldn't actually go to the home screen after tapping it 5 times and the vibration feedback vibrates 5 times in response. The last issue I've had is laggy animations but I'm not sure if that's a problem. The weirdest problem I've had is Horizontal white lines showing on the screen for a brief 3 seconds while on the messenger app. Turning this in for a replacement is something I want to do as a last resort as I really want to like this phone. All of this started happening about 1 1/2 weeks after buying so i'm also wondering if this is normal and not a cause for worry.

(Update)
CPU load is frequently spiking and battery temp is 40 c while on standby so I will do a factory reset and if that doesn't work a replacement.

Galaxy S getting hot at times? Or is it just mine?

I've had my Galaxy S for a week and of all the reported problems the worst for me is the phone gets hot sometimes in use and while charging. I checked in the application system I downloaded from the android market and it showed temperatures up to 53 degrees celsius. This makes the phone impossible to hold to the ear for a phone call and even internet browsing difficult as it gets too hot to touch.
As a side note unless the carphonewarehouse offer you a 7/14 day return policy don't buy from them. I'm having problems now because of it.
I can't post links to the pictures I took showing this as my account is still new, but it's on picasa web album under galaxy s temperatures and I can send you the link in a message if you want.
Has anyone else experience this problem?
I did notice that the phone can get quite warm at times. But for me even after 1hour in the sun outside the phone wasn't uncomfortable to touch. Much less to hot to hold to the ear.
My phone is charging right now and temp is 44 degrees centigrade. But considering the room-temp is almost 35, its not that bad. I'd rather have my phone becoming a bit warm than it taking forever to charge.
Ive only noticed this when gaming and charging from AC, its not that big a problem for me really, all smartphones suffer from this to some degree. My old Touch HD would get really hot if just wifi was active which is more annoying than this.
Well I have the desire as well and had many smart phones in the past that got warm but never as hot as the galaxy s, nor as frequently when used. It doesn't stay hot, but when it gets hot I can't put it to my ear to phone people. It happens mid call after I've use the phone for awhile.
Well that doesnt sound right, mine doesnt get hot like that, so perhaps yours is faulty?

Same here (USB also)
but other than that the phone remains colder than my HTC Magic.
It does get hot sometimes during calling but not that much.
I just got a new one (old one replaced) and I'm disappointed I'm suffering from this problem also. Mine also reaches up to 53 degrees.
have same problem but....
I downloaded a app "Advanced Task Killer" and killed all the apps that were working in background and i use from time to time, like YMessenger, Mail....
now the phone even if its charging the temp is between 35C and 40C. and maybe the battery will not discharge that fast
well it gets warm here 2 . but i had the same with my iphone 3g .i think its the working of the processor that makes it hot .its the same as with a pc when you run it to its high performance it gets hot 2

that sounds like normal
my old HTC Athena, gets really hot after long sessions of WiFi, 3G, or GPS, and in the SGS i get similar temperature when using the same stuff.
no heat from Bluetooth, or at least it's not noticeable
but ALL cell phones gets hot after long voice conversations.
Some times
Allways when im playing games my SGS gets pretty hot but not in AC .
From the troubleshootig section of the manual -
Your device is hot to the touch
When you use applications that require more power or use
applications on your device for an extended period of time,
your device may feel hot to the touch. This is normal and
should not affect your device's lifespan or performance.
It gets quite hot sometimes. Battery might rise from 33C in idle to around 45C on load.
I think it is the GPS chipset doing really weird calculations. That happened to me in the hardest math classes in college. Whenever I was totally lost and clueless about something during a calculus test I'd always get nervous and hot and sweaty.
Never killed me tho. I think the SGS will be fine even while hot.
I had the VIbrant for a week now.. i can't really say its gotten hot... maybe once.. but its not something severe, because i can't really remember how hot it was...
but from my research... iPhone4 is doing it, people complained they couldn't hold it close to their face while talking..... All the 1ghz SnapDragon's been doing it...there has been reports of the device too hot to even charge....even the underlcocked Acer Liquid E....
I've actually overused it the first few days...i can't really recall this happening to my phone...
Charging with screen on made my SGS rather hot. So now I try to leave the screen off when charging. Come winter that might change, not always a disadvantage to have something hot in a cold car
Seems to get hot in a location around the SIM card area on the phone when charging from USB or AC.
Not worried about it though.
Today try out the Fancy Widget, but later uninstalled it, I already disabled auto refresh everything, but my SGS get overheated and battery down by 50% just in 5 hours.. ......Anyone know why?
charging time
How long does your phone takes to charge ?
Mine takes about 3-4 hour hours on pc usb and about 3 hours on power adapter come with the phone.
My HTC tytn2 with extended battery 2800 only takes 2.5 hours to charge over the pc usb charge.
Mine's getting a little bit hot after trying some 3d games (asphalt i.e, i don't play too much) or clips (few minutes). it seems to have a particular "hot spot" at the portion of the sim card/sd card, the rest of the phone feels quite cool, and i can hold it without any hassle.
Charging the phone at the moment. 42 celcius.
Are you using setcpu? 10 mins ago I was using setcpu and noticed my phone gotten hot suddenly - I didnt do any sort of ocing. Checked the temperature and was shocked to see 53c Uninstalled it and the temperatre returns to a more acceptable level

[Q] Galaxy S Overheating

Hi, I bought a SGS a few days ago. Everything was fine at first, but then it started to overheat even for a few minutes of use. It is around 32 degrees celsius when the screen is off, but even if I do nothing and keep the screen on for some time, it shows 41 degrees celsius. If I open a game or the music player it becomes 48.Not occasionally, every time I do the same thing. If it was a graphically intensive game it would probably be 55 easily. I deleted everythng and did a data factory reset, it slowed down the speed of the heating but the same thing happens eventually. I've checked similar threads and someone said even a temperature of 55 degrees is normal, but that can't be true since when the temp is 48-49 the phone becomes really sluggish, and apps stop working. Any ideas?
The most important thing is though, I dropped the phone once. However, it wasn't an issue that day and the day after. I don't think they are related, what do you think? Is there a cooling system that might be damaged? I don't want to send the phone back because there are small scratches around the silver part of the phone because of it and they might resend the phone saying it is the user's fault.
Lastly, the Froyo is installed now. If I upgrade to Gingerbread is there a chance that it will help the temperature stay normal?
I have had temperature of 60 degrees. It's pretty normal, I don't think gb would change anything from it.
When the temperature is about 50, the phone starts to lag badly, the browser lags and the games freeze. Before this, the highest I saw was 36 when playing a game.
As far as I know, when it hits 60 degrees, the phone turns off automatically, are you sure? It becomes very ucomfortable to hold too.
Definitely normal when the phone is doing something intensive. Phones don't have cooling systems - do you want a fan at the back of the device? Also, the phone can go beyond 60 degrees - it doesn't turn off when it reaches 60. If there is a defense mechanism it goes beyond that point. The battery on the other hand stops charging if the phone reaches a certain temperature. I don't recall any sluggishness with the phone at high temperatures or at least nothing like games freezing. One thing to do is to reduce to minimum the brightness of the screen coz Super AMOLED screens tend to produce a lot of heat at high brightness levels and that's what mainly heats the phone so much. Also, you can get a kernel with which you can undervolt the cpu - that will keep the cpu cooler.

I've never monitored internal temperatures, but....
Mine very rarely feels hot to the touch. If I played Dungeon Hunter for a half hour it would get pretty warm (not hot though) but that's normal I'd say. Send it back to Samsung Service Center - this phone costs half a grand, don't chance that it's slowly cooking itself to death!
Oh and I didn't find gingerbread to make a dramatic difference, wouldn't expect it to solve all your problems. Sorry dude.
try uc/uv-ing the phone, might help:\
I told you there was something wrong . It might be normal, but the beginning of it was definitely not normal. The thing is, when I set the alarm, the phone starts overheating. It goes to 40 without starting any apps, and sees 45-48 under 5 minutes of use depending on what I am doing. When I turn it off, it hovers around 36. I've never seen it past 38 even when there are three apps working. I've noticed this a few hours ago and still am still testing it, so I am not 100% sure, any of you had a problem with the alarm? It sounds even more reasonable because the time the phone started to do this roughly coincides with the time I set the alarm for the first time.
Hopefully the alarm is to blame, I can live without that .
I overclocked mine and It gets hot as hell. even when I charge the phone? Is there anyone who knows how to solve it?

Overheating and Bad Lag

I've had my Verizon Note 5 for 13 months and never had a performance issue with it until last night. I was standing in my garage and it became very hot in my pocket and I immediately placed it on a table. The heat on my leg is what made me notice it. The phone has been in a Verus High Pro Shield case since July for reference. After letting it cool for a while I turned on wifi and saw I had 3 app updates waiting in the Play Store. It never would update them and would download them but not install. Each time I tried this the phone became very hot on the back and with all of the exploding battery talk of late I was getting concerned. Also whenever I tried to use any app (Chrome, Facebook, S Note, calculator, and a Sudoku game) there was a constant lag like the phone was dying and on its last legs. I wasn't charging my phone during any of this. My Note stayed this way in super laggy overheating mode until about 1:00 this afternoon (about 17 hours total) and since then it has been fine and cool to the touch with no lag at all for the past 5 hours. Now the Play Store works again and just updated 3 more apps perfectly. I know this sounds crazy but has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Up until yesterday my Note 5 has always been perfect and never had a problem. Thanks for any input.

Note 8 overheating

Anyone get the dreaded note 8 overheating message yet? I just had a warning pop up an hour ago. Was using appradio Facebook messenger android auto with wi-fi Bluetooth and navigation turned on and screen at a little less than half brightness.. Should it be overheating like this? Kept warning me to shut everything down and was hot to the touch. There was an update for 7.1.1 just yesterday that I installed, could this be the cause?

"The dreaded note 8 overheating message yet"? Sounds like you have either a lemon or managed to push the device pasts is capabilities IF that's even possible? Its new to me.

with the s8 plus when it came out, I think some people were having some issues with the sdcards, if u have one inside, remove it restart and test for a bit and see if it fixes that issue.
ive got a 400gb sd card with many apps moved to it and running the phone on high performance mode and not ever seen this error...
I've never even felt the thing get warm.. Unless you are saying a 20°c battery and 23°c CPU is hot to you..
I was driving with the Note8 in the qi-infinity fast wireless car charger the other day. Was running waze and got the message "Battery overheating. Charging suspended!" I would acknowledge the message and after a few minutes it would come back. Unplugged the charger and just let it run on battery power. Didn't do it on the way home. All I could figure was the fact that the sun was shining through the windshield hitting the back of the phone while it was charging was creating more heat than it liked. Driving home the sun was behind me and not hitting the phone.
I'm out camping, laying in the sun streaming dual BT through poweramp on hi res. Weak signal and doing light browsing and my N8 is just warm, not hot. Wouldn't consider it close to over heating.

Tab S2 slowing down?

My Galaxy Tab S2 is about 4 years old and I use it daily for email checks in the morning and watching reruns of House MD in the evening. System update is set to manual, but I always accept.
Problem: Screen takes significant length of time to repopulate icons after video playback or other tasks. I can actually see each icon appear on the home screen in a sort of ripple effect. This problem became noticeable about two weeks ago. Previously screen refresh was virtually instantaneous. Turning the tablet off for 10 minutes and restarting produced no improvement. There is about 50% available storage on device and card. Any ideas?
Is battery capacity low compared to when it was new? Might want to replace it. I suspect that cpu gets throttled when battery ages.

Thanks for the response Lukeb.
No, the battery seems about the same as when new. That is to say I had to charge it once per day when new and that is still the case.
I have the same issue with every Android device I ever owned especially Samsung devices. I think the problem is the "bad" flash memory which wars out over time and becomes slower. Or some secret algorithm in the ROM which slows down your device so you want to buy a new one. I sent my S2 for repair 3 months ago for battery replacement, because it randomly crashes when doing some updates over the Google store when the battery is under 20%. I got it back and it still crashes and is slow. Even with factory reset.
