Is anyone here updating the individual apps from apk mirror? (an example)
Or do you just stick with the ones that are provided by the updates?
I tried to update them a while ago and after a reboot (20 days or so), the phone wasn't able to start properly and was kind of a bootloop (except it started past the pin protection, but then crashed).
Thanks!
I just updated the 3D creator from apkmirror to get the newest functionality.
I'm currently holding back on system updates.

hello guys,I am a ROM manager premium user. I purchase this only for making my nightly update easier (I don't like to download the ROM and sent to sdcard, especially for the nightly build). However, every times I got the update it ask for the google apps.If I accept then after everything is done, my account detail lost (I have never wipe anything expect installing cm7 at the first time!!!!!!!) . I need to reconfigure the account every day. If i deny it,then the google market would disappear after everything updated. I can't download anything without re-install google app at rom manager. That is really inconvenient.
Somebody tells me that the google market can be installed separately.Once I have done this. There is no need to do anything when I update the new nightly build. I have tried this way but at last I got a Android market without login function(even I setup the account at Settings->Privacy , it failed to connect the server). Without the Market I can't get my premium lincense back, and...........I could not imaging a android phone without market. That is really really.....something.
It seems that I should be go back to use MIUI(I used to be a MIUI fans when I still using my Moto Defy. After I tried the original CM7 on P990 I changed my mind!!)
I would be grantful if anybody could give me a solution about this. Thanks
you don't have to download/install GAPPS every time there's an update. I do it manually through Recovery anyway; much less chance of something going wrong.
I've decided to get my phone ready to accept the (hopefully soon) OTA update for my 2013 X. Right now it's on 4.4.4, bootloader unlocked (thanks Sunshine!), and rooted. I had it rooted to take advantage of Xposed and Secure Settings with Tasker integration. I also used TitaniumBackup to freeze the Verizon and some Moto apps I never used.
Currently, I have uninstalled every Xposed module I downloaded, then unistalled Xposed itself and finally the Xposed installer app. After that I went into Titanium and defrosted everything that was frozen. Now I have a fair amount of updates coming in from the Play store for all those apps that were frozen. Should I go ahead and update them?
From what I've read, there's been talk on whether or not I have to un-root my phone. I thought I just had to use the toolkit to flash back the stock recovery? That should be the only thing left to do? What about some apps that are device administrators like Cerberus? Do I need to remove them from that list?
Thank you for any advice. I plan on flashing stock recovery when I get home this evening.
Generally speaking an OTA will probably fail if apps it expects to be present are missing or modified in the /system partition. I don't know if having additional items (like Cerberus) will halt the OTA or not. Custom recovery may also interfere with the OTA.
It sounds like you already did all the work, but I personally wouldn't have done any of that until the OTA was actually rolling out. I know they said it will be soon, but it could still be weeks away. I wouldn't give up my phone that was setup how I like it, but that's just my preference.
When the OTA drops, if you try and install it will do all of the validation before it installs anything. If the validation fails, it will tell you it has an error and it won't work. Then you'll have to fix whatever was modified, or reflash the stock firmware to be compatible with the OTA.
I don't believe updating the apps is necessary. I don't even think they need to be active (you can use the Disable function in the App Info screen to hide them), they just need to be present in your /system folder with the correct signature, is how I understand it.
Hi, it wouldn't surprise me if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
I want to upgrade my P7 because all my music apps just stop at random. I assume it's a firmware problem. It happens with internet radios, Spotify both online and offline etc. I also need to root my phone to get rid of unneeded system apps and prevent apps like Swype from reading my location all the time (google "Swype location requests").
Rooting seems to be straightforward, but will OTA upgrades work afterwards?
EMUI 2.3
Build number P7-L10V100R001C00B133SP01
Custom Version CUSTC432D133SP01
I'm in Norway, if that matters
From someone that had the root before, OTA won't work. You would have to force the update. I'm on 609 and it works perfectly well (well ... I don't use the basic music app as it has some weird characters recognition and it doesn't have a "genre" tab, but Rocket Player doesn't stop randomly and it did when I was on 133, so I guess the update solved the problem). You can still upgrade and root again.
A question which might be out of subject but, what do you use to get rid of the apps and what are the apps that are not dangerous to get rid of?
thanks a lot!
Thanks! I'll look for the procedure on flashing new firmware and rooting it again, I am a little worried about flashing the wrong files and getting a chinese phone
I'll probably use Root Uninstaller to get rid of the weather and music apps, the bundled web browser, Hangouts and stuff like that. If I remember correctly, Root Uninstaller warns you against uninstalling essential system apps. But most importantly I need to be able to keep apps from leaking private data.
So the plan is to first force an upgrade, assuming there is one for my region, then root.
So , using this website I managed to install cyanogen mod, the version was equivalent to android 6.0.1 but the problem is that it came with root controls, no matter what I did the root controls made Fire Emblem heroes and Fate/Grand Order crash.
To be exact FGO and FEH can check even if root is disabled and hidden if its present or not. And I'd like very much to play those two games on the kindle fire HD 7"

I am still trying a few things.
With Fate GO, apparently the root errors (60 and 61 if I remember right) are not always triggered by actual root. Error 36 (I think) was ADB.
So it seems to go down a list. If it checks build type, well even the last official CM nightly was test-keys.
I currently have it partially working on stock os. It loads up and actually starts. These devices were not Google Certified so they were not shipped with PlayServices installed.
It's been quite awhile since I had to manually install PlayServices so, it might take me a little while.
Finding the right files for API 15 and what order to install them.
Once I get it running on stock I'll move back trying custom roms.
Screenshots from current setup.

Thats odd on stock rom after installing play services it pops error 61.
Last year after the rollout promise of PIE I reverted back to oreo and then I got no updates till now. I couldn't use the backup from gdrive as it is not backward compatible so started a fresh. Recently when I tried to install new apps( no matter which one) it installs ok and then when you open it, the app wont go past the splash screen and the app crashes with the popup "send feedback, wait and close app".
When I disable chrome and update android webview( which otherwise stays disabled buy default) I can open the app and it gets past the splash screen after showing the abovementioned pop-up and in the background shows the main page of the app and then it crashes.
I am not to keen on a hard reset and android beta cant be accessed as the official "stable" rollout of PIE is going on. However if I use the revert back option in beta labs it will give me OTA which will uninstall dec patch and the next update will install it back. So far I have tried that option and force pie option with the zip file in recovery mode but rolls back to oreo automatically( something to do with the beta registration). The forced pie option was buggier on my phone compared to beta anyway. I have also tried the clear cache and data in play store and services as advised elsewhere but it fixes nothing.
How do I fix the app "not loading" problem.
