change from xeu to o2 uk o2u - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Can I just flash the latest o2 Oreo Rom via Odin onto my unlocked un grand as note 8 and will I then get o2 things like WiFi calling and voip as with the unbranded firmware I can't enable it? Will I have to use the home-csc with the sim and card removed also or can I do it without resetting the phones data?

Hi, you can't use the Home-CSC and you will lose all of your phone data I'm afraid. I did the same thing when I reflashed my BRI SM-N950F/DS onto O2UK just after Christmas. Just updated to the O2UK release of Oreo earlier today too.

My apologies! I was under the impression that it wasn't possible to use the Home_CSC so I didn't even attempt it! How have you got VoLTE working though? I can't see that on mine?

I don't volte in my area yet but the next time I'm in Belfast I'll try it and report back, the WiFi calling does work as mobile reception in my area is poor that's why decided to flash the o2 branded Rom as once the tugo app was discontinued I was missing quite a few important calls but hopefully now I wont

Yeah, same here! Was a decent app TuGo, shame they've pulled it.

Hi
I'm on O2 with a unlocked phone bought through mobiles.co.uk (owned by Carphone Warehouse)
I installed the French version of Oreo, as my phone wasn't getting the OTA update.
Am I ok to flash the O2 firmware, downloaded from SamKnows?
I was told it could brick my phone!
Thanks

[Q] Telstra firmware on AT&T tab?

Hi,
I'm in NY at the moment but I'm headed back to Australia later in the week. The AT&T Galaxy Tab is $649 and the Telstra version is $840. I gather that SIM unlocking either version is not a problem. I spend a fair bit of time in both places. As the Telstra version has voice enabled, I was wondering if it's possible to simply flash the Telstra firmware onto the AT&T Tab? Would this cause any issues? Would it then be essentially an identical device to the Telstra sold tab?
Thanks.
It looks like you will be the first to find out. Sorry couldn't help mate

Find us Telstra firmware and we can at least test that the phone works here in some way.
I posted a similar Q a while ago. I want to flash my T-mobile Tab into a generic Euro (GT-P1000). After that I would like it to work with upgrades through Kies etc.
If I just understood the risks or pro/cons I would go.
I bought the telstra tab. It is unlocked out of the box and has voice enabled. It uses the same bands as att. So I am guess ing this firmware would work fine on an att tab.

It should, but please follow my backup thread and backup your existing firmware before you flash the Euro firmware. Someone, maybe even you, may need it someday.
I don't think I will need to flash any other firmware. The telstra firmware has voice calling and side loading enabled out of the box. It is also sim unlocked. I should be able to put my att sim in, change the apn and go!

I've used the roto backup from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13391743 without any problems a few times when restoring my GT-P1000T back to stock (Telstra).

[Q] 4.1.2 on Three (UK)

I heard Vodafone got theirs yesterday. Just wondering if any of us Three users knows when we'll be getting it too!
Cheers,
Andy.

3(UK) is H3G
Im asking what CSC three uk e.g. hutchinson three uk
GT-N7000's run as far as im aware they dont have a custom rom for the uk
I've always been a little weary about flashing roms. I just like having the ability to update via kies. I'll probably look into soon though. My little Note isn't even a year old yet D;

What are consequences of not changing csc after downloading oreo on xef csc.

I have managed to download oreo using xef. my phone recognised my sim which is o2 uk. everything works fine. what are the consequences if I do not change csc to o2 now . I intend downloading oreo for 02 uk when it is available.

UK Oreo 8.0 Update?

Hi i just wondering when we will receive oreo update in UK?
What carrier you on?
EE , UK
Vodafone UK.....
Sent from my Note 8 (2017 Phone) using XDA Labs
I'm on EE but my device was originally an O2 one.
I had to manually install the France ROM via ODIN and I'm having no issues.
I find it a little bit odd that the Middle East was updated after France, and not the rest of mainland Europe, but ah well. The France ROM will suffice for me until a UK ROM is released.
Question: would there be much of a difference between the two?
France and UK I mean?

I flashed it and still have the we WiFi calling available
lost patience a bit and flashed it myself this morning, just waiting for the backup/restore to complete, mine is unbranded OXM XEU uk/ireland and all went smooth, I did a factory reset first and used CSC instead of Home CSC so complete setup from scratch

I think AP is same, but different BL and CP, should be better if flash with original country BL and CP.
Thats not VoLTE, thats wifi calling. Without an official ROM you cannot have support for the VoLTE protocol.
I bought my note 8 sim free and got the oreo update yesterday. I'm on Vodafone but I doubt it matters when it's sim free.
Can you confirm what version handset your on
BTU or XEU I have BTU handset and still sat waiting for Oreo
Looks like XEU
BTU released this morning

Can i flash the sm-g977b firmware onto the sm-g977n device?

Hey 5G Pioneers,
I am wondering can I flash the sm-g 977b firmware onto the sm-g 977n device through the Odin? Did someone make it?
Since these two models are all using the same Exynos 9820 chips
And from my previous experience of using my galaxy s8, Samsung actually enabled me to flash the firmware in different regions only if the devices were using the same chip version.
I am currently in Australia. The Korean version of 977N is much cheaper, and it seems that is the only network unlock version that I could buy from the market.
Not sure where are you in Australia but I bought mine from a Telstra Sales Rep (based in CBD, Melbourne) where he got a discount code and gave its to me for AUD 1400 for the 512 GB Majestic Black Version, unlocked , I'm using Optus, VoLTE, VoWIFI works fine on it.

Thanks. Is this the exynos or Snapdragon version? I'm planning to buy the 256gb version and use in India. So wanted to check before I ask my sister to buy.

Hi everybody,
On Sammobile website, I found 4 firmware Korean variants. I tried getting more information on the "KOO" variant to see if its a stock Samsung firmware without Carrier Apps/Bloatware without luck. I couldn't get any detailed information whether it can be flashed over any other Korean variant. Can anyone here clarify if its possible and If yes provide further details?
Attached a snapshot.
Many thanks

That is the non bloatware Korean version but it doesn't allow me to flash it. I suspect you have to flash it with the userdata file also.
Thanks for the information,
I have a new phone so No issues with user data. How do I flash the firmware.
Thanks

Hi,
I have successfully flashed the "KOO" variant once with and a second time without "userdata", however that did NOT remove any of the Bloatware/Carrier Apps.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
I disable the 3 apps then hide them from the app drawer.

Hi,
I did disable the apps which is great, but there menu operator items as well!
Edit : Forgot to mention that the boot logo is of the operator as well.
I was researching something about using the PIT file along with the firmware but can't find the specific PIT file for S10 5g.
Use Odin or the modified version to flash combination firmware. Then flash your desired firmware.
This is the only way I am aware to remove all carrier bloatware and boot logos.

I am particularly interested in this as the 977N variant seems to be dual sim. I notice it also has additional bands to the 977B varient and I would like to put the telstra firmware to ensure operation of VoLTE VoWiFi RCS etc.
The main purpose is to use at home and overseas. So more bands and access to features (VoLTE, VoWiFI, RCS etc. on my telstra SIM and local overseas SIM) when overseas are the goal.
Unless someone can confirm that the 977N with vanilla firmware will support all the telstra features?
Thank you for your assistance
