New mac adress after every reboot with Atoto A6 - Android Auto General

Hi,
is there a way to get always the same mac, because of that my mobile hotspot doesn't connect correctly.
I always have to add the new mac address to trusted devices.
I know a reboot is normally not necessary, but sometimes it happens, but this my cars fault.
Some tips?
Thanks
Frank

Somebody, Anybody?

Damn this is the only thread to show up with this problem when searching. Mine does it too
I emailed atoto they said their aware and working on the issue for the next update.
I guess you could wait or try to root and install a Mac id changer and set it yourself to stay the same?

Hi, this is now solved with the update released yesterday, check out the support site the update is big, so it won't go through the OTA.

[Q] Milestone X720 problem with network.

I've purchased a Milestone X720 for my wife, but I found the internal WiFi to work erratically at best.
It seems like it has no problem connecting to Google.com webpage (also it can sync mails and contacts), but when trying to access any other webpages (bbc.co.uk, espn.com, etc.) using the browser, it's always timing out. I know it's not a problem with my WiFi / internal network / router /internet connection, because I can navigate just fine using my HTC Desire or home laptops.
It worked for a while yesterday afternoon, then this morning wasn't able to connect to any website.
The wifi connection is using DHCP, and it shows a correct internal IP address and an excellent signal level. I don't think there's much more things I can tweak in the phone configuration, or isn't there?
Maybe it is a defective phone? Did someone experienced something like this? Should I return it and exchange it for a new one?
I'd appreciate any help.
Alex.
Actually, I've been having problems with my wifi. My wifi will stop working on any webpage at seemingly random intervals (I used to think it was when it went into sleep, but it happens when it's not in sleep now also). Eventually after restarting wifi so many times it'll glitch up and I have to restart the phone.
Providing your phone's stock (as in you haven't rooted it or the like) I'd recommend going to your carrier about the problem.
EDIT: I just checked through the posts on this board and some guy was having another problem with his wifi (different from both of ours though), he suggested getting WifiPowerSavingOff off the market, I'll try it and tell you if it fixes my problem. The only problem is it requires root access, I don't even know if it will fix your problem so you're better off sending the phone back (especially since rooting voids your warrenty). One other thing you could try is just a factory reset, it sounds like a software problem so that might work wonders, you might have to reactivate your phone afterwards though.
Well, thank you for your response.
WiFi was working OK when I came back from work, but is not working now.
The phone is unbranded unlocked, so I'll probably have to talk to the seller.
I tried to see if there was an update from Motorola, but every time I go to the System Updates it says that it is unable to connect to the server, so there's probably no available update for this phone yet.

If it's unlocked OTA updates (updating through the settings) are probably disabled, because installing OTA updates will make you lose root (I'm assuming your phone also is rooted if it was unlocked by the seller). do you know what baseband your using right now? Also, have you installed rom manager or anything that can make nandroid backups?
I might be wrong, but I don't think it's rooted, I think it's just the way it's sold, SIM free and unlocked from factory, not by the seller.
Baseband is 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.07.56I
Well if you wanna double check, just look to see if a superuser permissions app is installed (if you don't find one it's not rooted), I never knew they sold them unlocked (although I'm in the US... so I doubt they do here). All I can say is to try a factory reset then, if that doesn't work then talk to the seller. It sounds like more of a software problem since Google works.
In the end it seems there is some kind of incompatibility between the phone and my WiFi router (a Belkin G). Yesterday I managed to borrow another WiFi router (Netgear) and it works flawlessly when connected to this AP.
I will keep testing during the weekend but I'm pretty sure this was the cause.
Thanks Shiny for your help.
Hi. I picked up a milestone via Ebay two days ago and had similar wi-fi issues. After reading a number of forums I discovered that the problem lay with my router - Siemans Gigaset SE587 (Tiscali). The wireless channel or regulatory domain was set to auto channel 1. I think this confuses the phone so with the help of the router manual I disabled auto and reset it to channel 13.
Wi-fi works flawlessly now and it hasn't affected my other devices. The link below might help.

[Q] cannot connect to wifi anymore

A few days ago I ran into a problem. My wifi wasn't connected when I turned on my tab 8.9. When I try to connect to my own network, and get into the settings page, the option 'ok' is greyed out. This means that I can only 'cancel', and in that way not connect to my own network anymore. The same thing happens when I try to connect to another network. My device is not rooted, running 3.2, and it is running the most recent firmware. Restarting the device didn't solve it. Any thoughts on this one?
Bump, same problem, or at least similar.
Android Version 3.2
Kernal Version 2.6.36.3 ([email protected] #1)
Build Number HTJ85B
Wireless works on some networks and not others. B G N do not matter, it is random. Still running stock ROM, not rooted. I have tried reseting OS, no luck.
What it does it it finds the network, tries to connect to the network, fails, remembers the network, and the cycle starts over.
Hi guys,
do you get the 'Obtaining IP address' message when connecting? mine does that constantly on some networks, it gets stuck in a loop and simply will not connect. I've found out that this is due to the tab remembering an IP address it used to use and trying to re-use it every time it connects. That is of course not always possible and so it tries - fails - tries etc.
The way to fix this apparently is to delete the dhcp_list file which holds the remembered IP addresses, only issue is that I cannot find that file anywhere. I'm running AOSP Galaxian Soup on mine with motley kernel, my home wifi works ok (probably because the same IP address is available all the time), work wifi doesn't want to work at all.
Maybe one of the devs sees this and can shed a bit more light on whether the solution is correct or not.
Regards,
dsc.
I was eventually able to solve this in a very easy way. for one reason or another the tab only wanted to log in when the password contained a capital, so I changed the WPA preshared key to something that contained a capital and a number and it was working again. very strange, because it had been working perfectly for about two months before this problem occurred. hope this helps.
Hi,
I managed to fix it by selecting static IP. I've seen this suggested a couple of times but when using the tablet in horizontal position I could see the static/dynami selection. Turns out you have to rotate the table to vertical position to see it.
Regards,
dsc.
Thanks for the discussion. my main problem is that i can't set a static at my work network. it will work at home, but i NEED it to work at both, otherwise it does me no good. I will keep banging my head against.
I will check back to see if smarter people come up with a solution, and if i come up with somthing i will post.

This is my problem exactly.
Hi,
not sure if you've seen this (I think the original solution comes from here anyway):
[tried posting an url but it was blocked, try googling:
'Tab cannot get IP address for WiFi problem + recs'
and scroll down to zakaria's post]
Some people suggest trying static, even if it fails it might delete the previously stored IP address that the Tab is trying to connect with and get a new one which should work. What I did was connected to the Wifi with my laptop, checked the IP/DNS details and after slight mods used it on the Tab. I did try setting the static to something roughly correct, connecting and reverting back to dynamic, but it wouldn't have it

Have you checked with your work network whether or not it needs ca certificate?
or you could try to download wifi ace (advanced config editor) from the playstore, and set the settings from there

[Q] Exactly same MAC address on two different HD7 devices

My basically knowledge of networking devices tells me that two different devices should NOT have the same MAC address. However, this happens on my two recently bought HD7 phones.
I didn't notice this at the first time since the network all work on both devices, browsing internet, email, etc.
Then I tried to activate the devices and tried to install apps through marketplace. One of the device works just fine. However, the other has a problem that, it keeps prompting me to setup the account and it keeps failing with "Can't set up your account", error code "8000FFFF" and always stuck at the Country/Region Loading status...
I tried to re-flash the ROM, doesn't work, change the location, doesn't work. I then noticed that both the devices share the exactly same MAC address and this just blows my knowledge foundation of the computer netwoking. After checking the Wi-fi connections on both devices, they are with different IPs (assigned by my router, DHCP). I also checked my router, it shows only one of the devices. The other doesn't appear, however, I can use network on that device. So mysterious!
Now I come to this forum to see if anybody have experienced the same issue before and might share with me some lights.
Thanks,
-jack
Agree that it shouldn't happen. Don't know what version ROM you have but there were versions (I believe some Mangos) that were changing their MACs on every reboot. That has been fixed by the chefs. Maybe you can try rebooting to see if your MAC changes. On the possibility that you have an older ROM you would see the MAC change and thereby fix the problem of identical MACs. If so, you could let it change and then flash one of the fixed ROMs so it won't change again. If not, I suppose you could flash an older ROM with the problem, let the MAC change and then flash a good ROM. Just my non-technical DIY approach. Perhaps a dev has a more elegant solution.

I'm using the latest deepshining v7.7 ROM. I guess this is a new ROM that resolves the changing MAC address issue.
Hi, you can try downgrading rom to nodo which doesn't have static mac address and then rebooting phone and switching back to tango (or mango), this might solve the problem.
My firend have same problem so I formated his HD7 and entered my live account I was able to download stuff from marketplace so what do you think about it he is using deepshining ROM 7.7 with all language

Wifi issue after MM update

Hi guys! Can you help me out! I installed several MM Roms, as i can not connect to certain wifi networks. I installed many of them to troubleshoot my phone. I have no idea why i can not connect, why it stucks. . It stucks at obtaining IP adress. Before i first install the marsmallow on 5.x.x series i was able to connect to any wifi network (obviously if i had the network key), but now i can not connect to my workplace wifi, also at my friend. At home it is all OK. All networks are 2.4ghz. Other then this i can not see 5ghz networks. i saw a solution for that, but most adb drivers are for x86 even if it says its for x64 systems (or either im too noob, buti can not install them on win10). But the main issue, which pisses me off, is the problem with 2.4Ghz networks. Does any of you have any solution for that. Furthermore, have any of you faced this problem before??? Thanks anyway! Yes, i tried that, thanks. The problem doesnt seem to be the encryption, as its passes through. The issue is with obtaining IP address. Maybe in MM they changed the way that DHCP(IP address obtaining) works. If i can not find a way to change that, i will have to revert back to Lollipop.

Oh! I see... that is a pitty! I'm thinking in advance to Android 6.0, but i hear several issues about it. So, meantime I´ll keep android 5! Hope you finda solution, best regards.
Hi Guys!
Accidently i found the solution for the issue. I share it with you, in case if anyone interested. If you tap 5 or 6 times on the build number, you'll be able to become developer. After this you go to the developer options, then scrolling down, you'll find an option to revert back to Lollipop tipe DHCP. If you tick that, you can connect to any wifi network. (in case if you have the network key) You'll no longer stuck at "obtaining IP address"... Hope that helps

Trying to Find BT Devices only lists BT Addresses like 6B:7B:BC:90:2F:3D

I don't get this phone... It is fairly a new model but I struggle every time I try to connect to a new Bluetooth device. It basically lists a bunch codes like this: 6B:7B:BC:90:2F:3D
I am trying now to connect my motorcycle helmet communicator (Sena SMH10), which worked without a glitch with my Z5C but the XZ1 simply lists codes back to me. This has happened to other BT speaker phones at friends house, but it was not critical. Now I need to connect my device to my cell phone and I need to get to the bottom of this.
Phone tells me everything is up to date: Android 8.0, August 1 Security Patch, Build 47.1.A.12.270
Any feedback is appreciated!
Thanks!
No one ever seen anything like this before?
Any feedback?
I'm having that as well.
These "codes" are MAC addresses. They're unique identifiers for network interfaces. It's a 48-bit number and the first 24-bit's uniquely identifies the vendor or manufacturer.
30:35:AD: for example is Apple. Just as an example, you can use this site to lookup the vendor: https://macvendors.com/
Unfortunately 6B:7B:BC or 11:0A:97 aren't registered to anyone.
But regardless whether you see a device name or a MAC address, the pairing and connecting and so on functionality is the same. The devices don't care about device names.
Just because it's showing you MAC addresses doesn't mean you can't connect to them. The device name is just a nice thing for us mere humans. And a lot of times the device name shows up after pairing with it or trying to pair with it. Devices don't necessarily broadcast their names as well unless the phone asks for it.
So what's the problem here? Don't know which one is the one you want to connect to? Well, how about you try one. Or get away from other BT stuff so only the device you want to connect is around. Then you'll know it's MAC address and if the phone doesn't get the device name, you can rename it after pairing.
And since the devices you've already paired with show device names, the phone is clearly asking for the device name at least when you pair with it.
^ ^ ^ This could be the most informative and yet most useless post ever!
My intent is to have BT working as it should, showing me the correct device names AND connecting properly. Since this began, I can't connect to new devices, only previously connected devices.
And not, this is NOT a Sony feature! This is an issue and any feedback on how to actually address it, would be welcome!
Thank you!

Hit refresh in Bluetooth settings (3 dot menu > Refresh). Turn BT off and on again. Reboot your phone.
Try in that order until it works.

Not sure if you were joking or not, but I did try - it only took me a few minutes to do this 3 times in casae it was a joke and you are laughing at me for trying.
And nothing, still shows the MAC addresses under "Available Devices".

No, I wasn't being sarcastic, I've experience the same thing, but was able to sort things out at step 1.
Why would you think anybody here is going to prank you on purpose? If you wanted wisecracks, I'm sure you wouldn't have asked here at xda.
You ask for any suggestions, anything at all, and here I am offering my two cents, and I get accused of making a joke?
Yeah, thanks for making me regret trying to help you.
