Hi all.
I have a bit of an odd query.
On my Note 8, in Contacts, my profile at the top of the page...the default phone number keeps going to SIM 2's number.
I change it to default to SIM 1's number all the time and within a few minutes goes back to SIM 2.
I edit the profile and even delete the number, but sure enough, within a few minutes, SIM 2 number is back as the default profile number.
Why would this be please?
Anyone, please?
Also...can the profile be viewed by anyone else...or is it strictly an on-phone thing?
Mine is not real dual sim, but I have already changed to dual sim.
The number is not linked to sim 1 or 2, just a number in the profile,
Mine is working well, didn't change back automatically, but I didn't share the profile.

If you are sharing the profile,
When I call your number (whatever I got from website or somewhere) and I don'k know your name, Samsung will show your name automatically which you are sharing.
I tested this with my friend, but not 100% sure.
Hi.
Thank you for your response.
So the SIM 2 number will actually show up on my profile (which I am not sharing)?

The incoming caller ID recognition bug (which doesn't affect everyone, depends on carrier/country) only has a work-around to remove the international code from your contacts.
Does anyone know if there is a proper fix for the caller id problem? I'm running MidTeam1.1 and it still has this issue.
I cant remove all my international prefixes as I need them when calling from abroad.
Cheers,
EF
Me using the ICS STUNNER BETA 5 dun have this problem
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
The problem is country and carrier dependent though, some on stunner have reported this problem too.
I am having the same problem.
Names are stored in international format in my contacts list and when they call, the number 078.... is displayed, even though they are saved in my contacts list.
I have a Lenovo A750 using ICS_cybermaus.
I don't think this should be a country/carrier dependant problem. All my previous phones (not Android) were able to make the connection to the contacts, unlike this fancy ICS_Android.
can someone help in this problem? please
What do you mean by stored in international format? My contacts are stored like this: +4178XXXXXXX (Switzerland) and it works flawlessly. Please make an example how you stored your contacts.
Sent from my Galaxy Note running ICS
incoming caller ID not showing on ICS: national call - international contact format
I have the same problem on a Huawei G300 updated from 2.3.6 to original 4.0.3 ICS ROM.
BEFORE the update all my +34 xxxxx, +44 xxxx, +33 xxxx numbers in contacts (stored in google in the same format you describe) where recognized, when they called me and their caller id was displayed.
AFTER the update calls from my country (SPAIN) where just displayed as the number calling without international prefix, as if they weren't in my contacts, but they were!
Calls from other (to me foreign) countries where recognized and correctly associated as before the update.
So I can confirm the erroneous behaviour the OP describes.
I can speculate that some carriers don't pass the international number to their clients, but only the localized version, but this does not explain, why it worked on 2.3.6 and before - and even on dumb phones it is still working!
¿Any idea how to fix this behaviour?, as I need my contacts in international format because of frequent busines trips abroad.
- as a side note: I am not surprised that you do not have this problem in Switzerland, as your carriers probably adhere to all CCITT standards
Too bad in Spain this is not the case ...
I also read some posts by US-americans having this problem on some US-carriers - but I did not find a solution-or even a hint.
Can anybody help - and maybe put this problem in a place, where more people would see it?
Thank you.
Best regards, KaterM

Hi,
First of all I think I am in the wrong place here, because I don't have a Samsung Galaxy Note.
Secondly, I found something what might be interesting to read about a workaround to this problem;

Hope it will help you, more or less.
Good evening. I can't find any rom with decent RAM management that allows me to choose between sim cards and make one the default to a certain contact, like shown below. Also, I've already been on CM 12.1 and had to go stock, second SIM was required.
Note that the option "Remember ote that the option "Remember SIM for number" is important...
(see pic attached)
Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,
Easypaisa is a financial app used in Pakistan to transfer/receive money from/to registered mobile accounts. Visit this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pk.com.telenor.phoenix&hl=en to find out more about the app.
Now lets come to the point. I have downloaded and installed the Easypaisa app for my android device. I have entered my credentials successfully and received an OTP (One Time Pin) code on my registered number. Actually I have two SIMs, Telenor & Ufone. My Easypaisa account is registered on Telenor number.
The problem I'm facing is that the android phone I am using have a Ufone SIM while the OTP code I received on registered Telenor number is on another handset i.e. Nokia. The basic problem is that the app have "auto fetch" setting for the OTP code to be received and identified which I am actually not receiving on the android device rather receiving it on Nokia handset.
I even put my Telenor SIM card in android handset and it successfully fetched the OTP and signed me in but as soon I put my Ufone SIM back, the app took me back to the sign in/login page again. I need Xpose Module so it keeps me signed/logged in. I am attaching screenshot of auto-fetched feature so you can understand better.
Thanks,
Tahir

I have a Blu r1 with dual sims both Ultrame, I cannot set dual ringtones on marshmallow 6.0 I have read this is a system-wide issue with marshmallow on many dual sim phones seems sony took the hardest hit. I am wondering, since I cannot find a third party app. that works, for my own curiosity, when using dual sims does the phone look for two different networks to identify the two numbers orrr does it only recognize sim one, sim two as two different calling circuits altogether? I am used to it by now but am wondering is there a fix for this or anybody who has found a thrid party app to install dual ringtones? This is a basic work phone, and I need the dual sims, but having two different ringtones would help a lot.

I had a different Blu phone "life one x" and it is duel sims. The duel ringtone setup was a custom "profile" on the sound & notification settings page. But when that profile was there you could not change the ring tones. It would only allow it to change to the ones stored in a /system folder (don't remember which one) . Any way that profile is not nlt on this phone and I was not able to create it either, so. Maybe an alternative option might be to set all your contact in your phone book to a group and set that group to a custom ringtone, that way you know if the caller is someone you know vs a potential new customers.
thanks for the input
Thanks for replying,
I see your idea and it would work except, in my business I receive calls in on both numbers one is in Miami the other is on the other coast of fla. so depending on where I am at the time I still would love to get dual ringtones, One for Miami the other for the west coast number, my groups have both numbers to contact me,in case of emergency, so it would be best for me to have a dual set up for new calls in. I am still looking for an app that will work on MM I am sure with all the complaining one will show up sooner or later............

found this app.
DuelSim Ringtone
I dont have two sim cards so I could not verify if it works.
It lets me set different tones for the different slots but without two cards, could not verify if its working
thanks for input still not working............
As far as I can tell, I use two phone numbers under the same carrier, I believe most of these dual ringtone apps are set to catch two different carriers not singular. I was hoping for an app that would see slot one slot two and relate to that. shame really. but oh well I will be dropping the one line soon so not a big deal. Thanks for the replys

Is there a module or is one possible that can change the number stored on the SIM? I started a new monthly plan and transferred my old number over, but the new SIM card carries the wrong (new) number. I was able to change it before using an Xposed mod to do it (can't remember name now) but this isn't usable yet on Nougat afaik.

That doesn't actually change your number, you'll need to contact your service provider to make sure your number ported over correctly.

It has ported over correctly, just the new SIM card is hardcoded with the new number that About Phone > Status > SIM status reads from. Trying a new app that first requires registration usually pulls that number and autofills it in your signup window doesn't it? Hence the reason wanting to change it.
Yeah... No Magisk modules for that. I'd request a new SIM from your provider, with the correct number.
Ah ok, thanks. Will just wait it out for Xposed to come
its possible if mod located on file or folder but if inside the code of framework or apps then not possible.

Insert SIM to iPhone and change sim number. Or "old gen. mobile phone" like Nokia 3310 (not smartphone).
You can also get a smartcard reader for your pc and write it to SIM.
xposed sim editor 1.3.0 will do what you need. Note that if you use dual sim just insert the sim to edit to sim1 and leave sim2 empty, change and restart and change again and restart again.
This works:
[APP][XPOSED] SIM Number Setter
SIM Number Setter SIM Number Setter is a small Xposed module that invokes normally unused Android System code to set the "subscriber number" on the device's SIM card. This is the number displayed in the system settings, and used in apps such as...
