How to install LOS 15.1? I'm not so advanced user. I have already unlocked bootloader but not able to install TWRP recovery. Currently my Mi 5 32/3 GB is running on Global beta 8.3.29(i.e. latest). I'm facing auto wake up and Google Assistant continuously popping up issue. And how is LOS in day to day use? I want my Mi 5 to last at least another 6 months.

It's simple:
1/ Flashing TWRP:
Download this whole folder (all 6 files) and save it to your PC: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1IXNOlda6yF7dNQEvPH12mILdMkUbf2bt.
Turn your phone to Fastboot mode.
In your PC folder with downloaded files, open "install_TWRP.bat". It will be in Czech language, but all you have to do is to press any key (enter etc. ). It will download TWRP to your phone.
Wait a while (one minute), again press any key and your phone will boot to system.
2/ Boot to system. To your phone, download latest TWRP from here: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/gemini/twrp-3.2.1-1-gemini.img.html
3/ Boot to TWRP. Update TWRP (use that you just downloaded - 3.2.1-1).
4/ Wipe Dalvik Cache, Data, Cache, System. Optional: wipe Internal storage, I always do that.
5/ Connect phone to PC (you are still in TWRP). Download LOS, GApps 8.1 ARM64 (http://opengapps.org/) and root to your phone (optional). Or use USB OTG or ADB.
6/ Flash LOS, GApps and root. Do not reboot between these steps.
7/ Boot to system.

Power Button Problem

anyone know how to fix power button not working? i don't know how can this happen before but my volume button is working and i can go into recovery mode with vol button + power buttom and still the power button still not working, i cant turn on/off my phone with that and i can't even lock/unlock my device with that.. please help!
Can you turn on your phone using power button or just go to recovery? If yes that means it works, so it's just time to change your ROM. Follow guides.

If you can go in recovery that means there is no physical problem but just software error, so:
I recommend you to use last build of Lineage Os 14 (or another Nougat based ROM).
In recovery TWRP (last update):
Wipe system, data, dalvik, cache
Install latest MIUI China Dev zip
Install Lineage Os 14 (or another Android 7 custom ROM)
Install Gapps arm64 7.1 Pico
Install Magisk or Su Extra package for Lineage if you want root.
If the button still doesn't work, flash through PC latest China dev fastboot ROM version following the guide on MIUI official site.

I flash all the China Dev ROM for security but firmware would be enough. Try first with full rom and than other steps.

Dual Boot patcher not working

Hi friends,
I am trying to dual boot Mi Globe Global Developer 8.4.19 with RR 7.1
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...official-resurrection-remix-os-5-8-5-t3769814
Bootloader is unlocked
1. I flashed latest MIUI 8.4.19 Global Developer rom with Mi Flash .
2. Flashed TWRP with fastboot, reboot to recovery
3. wiped everything including internal and SD Card
4. formatted Internal (by writing YES)
5. Flashed MIUI Globe Global Developer 8.4.19 with Magisk, lazy flashed, Xposed (I have tried without Magisk, lazy flashed, Xposed also)
6.rebooted and setup up everything.
7. Now when I reboot to recovery , TWRP also dont show that device decrypted with default password. which means Internal Memory is not encrypted.
8. reboot to MIUI , install Dual Boot patcher, set kernel, Patch RR and Open Gapps to DATA slot.
9. Flashed with in-built flashing . (I have tried flashing with TWRP also)
10. reboot, MIUI logo, then 05 vibration and phone reboot to recovery.
2nd method.
1 .followed Point 1-6 written above
2. reboot to recovery, backup system, data, boot to SD card
3. format internal storage(by typing YES)
4. restore system, Data, boot
5. reboot to MIUI. install Dual Boot Patcher, set kernal, patched RR , Open Gapps, flashed.
6. reboot, 05 vibration, then it again reboots to recovery.
Previously I have used DBP in redmi note 3 pro.
I have tried all TWRP available for Mi Max 2 on XDA,
Tried lineage 14.1 instead of RR as well.
I am using the latest version of Dual Boot Patcher.
Still I am unable to Dual boot.
Any help is appreciated

After wasting 2-3 days, I found that latest DBP is not working used a old version Dual Boot Patcher (Snapshot)_9.3.0.r177.gbf8f3d50-SNAPSHOT.apk
Also I used Magisk v12 instead of latest.
Now I am able to use Miui as primary and RR N as secondary.

You can install magisk 16 from within magisk manager app after loading the system with magisk 12
Don't forget to open the patcher and update the kernel before rebooting

EDIT 1
Procedure that worked for me
So I've managed to install it and as expected, I had to format and delete everything on my internal memory. Here is the procedure I've followed and I'm 100% sure it'll work for others too.
Stuff I did before flashing:
1. Took a complete backup of internal memory.
2. Downloaded ROM + Recovery ( I use Holy Dragon custom twrp) + magisk 18.1 zip to an external OTG drive
My Configuration before flashing:
OOS 5.0.8, Unlocked BL, Magisk and root, Custom Kernel, Custom HolyDragon recovery
Procedure I followed:
1. Boot to recovery.
2. Wipe System, Dalvik, Cache
3. "Format Internal Memory". Please note, I formatted internal memory, not just wiped. This will remove encryption for once which will help the rom boot. It won't boot on encrypted partition with unlocked bootloader on first start up.
4. Flashed ROM zip.
5. Flashed twrp image.
6. Pressed power button for as long as possible until it rebooted again.
7. Pressed volume button before it could reboot so that i can select recovery. This step is important. If you won't do it, your recovery will be replaced with stock one.
8. Flash magisk zip. 18.1
9. Reboot system. It will take 10-15 minutes as it will reencrpt the storage.
10. Profit! Enjoy your new official oos pie on OP3/T.
Some things to note:
1. On first boot, it WILL NEED either mobile data or wifi. It downloaded some update and then installed and proceeded.
2. It will ask for your previous pattern. It didn't work for me so i simply login with my previous Gmail account on 5.0.8 and login successfully.
3. You will need to install magisk manager on first boot. It will show magisk not installed. Don't panic. Simply reboot your device once and it will appear in magisk on second reboot.

I am currently at work. I will flash it once I am home. but make sure you take complete backup of your internal memory. It will mess up your internal data partition if you have unlocked bootloader. Don't take an unnecessary risk with your data.

I need some help. I was on the latest Lineage OS version, got into recovery and formatted my data. Then I flashed the OOS Pie version. Got stuck on the OOS boot animation. Then I tried flashing the last OOS Beta and the last Official OOS but both are stuck on the same OOS boot animation. I also tried locking my bootloader and then starting again but didnt work out either...

You should be stuck on the booatanimation for at least 10-15 minutes. It's re-encrypting your /data partition.

Clearing up TWRP ambiguity versions + rooting MIUI pie

There is confusion over which recoveries to install for Redmi 6 (cereus).
Failure to install the correct TWRP will result in a hard brick with no chance of restoring the device without an authorised account or going to a Mi Service Centre.
If you are currently on the MIUI Oreo ROM:
You may ONLY use TWRP 3.3.0 OR 3.2.3-0 OR 3.2.3-1
The recovery by either TWRP or LR.Team is both ok.
If you are on the PIE rom:
You MUST use TWRP 3.3.1 or OrangeFox Recovery. R10.0-2 nocrypt Pie is confirmed to be working by me.
To root MIUI pie, follow the instructions in this post from 4PDA. This is because you will be unable to decrypt data.
You need to create an account to download the patched boot.img. You can either create one yourself or ask me or someone else to PM you with the boot.img. I will not attach it to this thread because it is not my work. The files have now been attached. See post below.

I did something wrong just don't know what
I tried with OrangeFox and when rebooted in recovery the phone would not turn on and just vibrates.
I was lucky because I just needed to open and remove the battery to get the phone back up.
So just to get it right (please correct me if i'm wrong):
Starting from unlocked MIUI stock with android 8.1 base:
0) Download patched boot image from OP
1)Download TWRP 3.3.0 OR 3.2.3-0 OR 3.2.3-1
2)Download Magisk 19.3 Stable (would the latest stable also work https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445?)
3)Download official Pie Rom: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM/miui_HM6Global_V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM_99304098f7_9.0.zip
4)Enter Fastboot -> Flash TWRP
5)Enter TWRP -> Flash the Pie Rom -> Flash patched boot.img -> flash Magisk
6)Boot into system -> Leave the device alone for 2-3 minutes and install Magisk Manager
7)Download -> TWRP 3.3.1 or OrangeFox Recovery. R10.0-2
8)Enter Fastboot -> Flash TWRP/OrangeFox
would this be the correct procedure?
cheers

?????????????????????
Why don't you skip steps 1-3 and just use XiaoMi Flash to install 10.4.4.0 via Fastboot by 'saving user data', then follow the instructions here? XiaoMiFlash will overwrite your recovery with the default so there is no risk of a brick. Then Flash TWRP Pie, flash boot img, flash magisk.
As I have said, you will brick your device. If you have TWRP Oreo, and then you install MIUI Pie, you will brick your device. You are doing EXACTLY what I told you not to do!
It didn't come out as clearly as you think. maybe it's my own deficiency.
btw whenever i flashed any update via TWRP the recovery got replaced by stock recovery as well.
(I don't tell this to call into question that your suggested way of doing was the most safe way.)
Is XiaoMi Flash available for linux as well?
edit: do you know if the latest magisk stable 20.0 would also work?

I'm not sure - I have never flashed any MIUI ROM in TWRP. It seems normal though - the updaterscript probably tells TWRP to overwrite itself.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-miflash-linux-t3708847 It's a bit complicated
This work for me :
1 - Install Pie Rom https://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM/miui_HM6Global_V10.4.4.0.PCGMIXM_99304098f7_9.0.zip with TWRP 3.3.1 https://mifirm.net/downloadtwrp/62 or with another method.
2 - Shut down the phone , go to fastboot (Vol - and power), plug to computer.
3 - From the computer fastboot flash boot boot_10.4.4.0_R6_mgsk_193.img (see the second post of this thread).
4 - fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-0602-REDMI6-CN-wzsx150.img
5 - Recovery (Vol+ and power)
6 - Install Magisk 19.3
Reboot and enjoy
Hi, currently I'm on stable China mui v10.4.3.0. Do you have boot.img on that v10.4.3.0. Currently link only provide boot.img for v10.4.2.0 for the china version. If no how do I get those, can I just backup them from twrp, Then create patched boot img with those backup boot? Thanks

I was able to bring the phone to life. Get instructions on how to get to the battery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9FH88b16bc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAflA4UKLLY. In orangeFox recovery I checked the flashlight, it works.
That makes us two. My phone is unusable at the moment. I thought the root was responsible for the camera bugs, I uninstalled magisk, the bug was still there. I tried to reinstall MIUI 10.4.4 ang got an error. I've wiped everything including vendor and system.
I clean dalvik and cache and for now the phone is working even, after flash the patch boot.img

Hard brick caused by flashing wrong TWRP is indeed able to get solved with unplugging the battery.
Miui v11 boot.img please

Keeps booting in twrp even lineage os is installed

I installed lineage os 18.1 on my redmi 8, whenever I try to boot into the system it redirects me to twrp. What do I do?

I have the same problem, i did format data and the flash was successful, also internal storage has just a bunch of folders with corrupted names after the flashing

id suggest not installing any a9 or a10 roms (aside from miui mods) as their trees are unstable, a11 has good support most of the time. los a11 was also very buggy from the start
[ROM][11.0][UNOFFICIAL][LineageOS 18.1] for Redmi 8(olive)
would like to share my device tree from scratch from 0 to hero for redmi 8 olive i left developing that phone for a while 2day sharing my device tree for lineage 18.1 along with the rom . rom based on latest miui vendor prebuilt Your warranty...
forum.xda-developers.com
there are plenty more stable alternatives now
encrypted (random names) are usually due to an unsupported
recovery on a12. in a normal boot they should work just fine
Xiaomi protect their device from custom rom or custom recovery and some time device go to hardbrick and stock on fastboot mode
So every time you want to install a custom rom after successful to install(dirty flash better) the rom first go beck to twrp menu and format system and dalvik cache then go to install>install image>select twrp img file>install
Then go to reboot>reboot to recovery
Then reboot to system
Hi,
I got the same problem with my samsung S9.
lineage allready worked fine. But then i decided to install the gapps and therefore i had to swipe the rom (according to a video). Whatever. So afterall i had nothing on the phone and had to install lineage again.
The first time then in odin i forgot to click away the check at "automatic recovery". I don´t know if that was my mistake.
Anyway, i repeated Odin, twrp and the installing of lineage. And allways when i reboot it after installing, lineage shows its surface and i can type in my pin. 1 or two seconds. And then a window "reboot into fabrique settings" appears and its rebooting back into twrp again.
What could that be?
