I use my LED on my Nokia 8 as a torch to not wake my son up when I go to bed, he stirred one night so I covered my phone's LED with my hand & it burnt me, it got super HOT! Anyone else? No other phone has done this to me, I know LED's can get hot but wow! Cover yours up with your finger for 10-15 seconds!

Yeah mine gets hot too

It is overdriven to make it so bright, normal with LEDs that are pushed so hard, i'd stop using it as a torch though, it is liable to burn it out eventually.

Surely it shouldn't get that hot ? My G5SPlus stays cool when I use it as a torch this is too hot to touch!
Sometimes my LED is very hot too

It might not be driven as hard or it might have better cooling or it might be a different type of LED.
LED bulbs for your house have heat sinks in them, they get hot.
It's normal. Look at the warm colour that our LED has. It has to do with the type of technology that's used to cast such a bright colour and it's quite normal that it's getting hot when there's nowhere to disperse the heat.
It , itself is not HOT , but it is very bright , your hand absorbs the light as a (black object) and turn the light's energy into heat.

wtf are you and the rest going on about, led power consumption is about 85% heat, as in, 1w led bulb produces about 0.15w worth of visible light and the rest is dissipated as heat. there is nothing complicated about this.

lol, at least do a quick google search before being stupid on the internet, tard...
just in case you are too ****ing lazy here you go, take a quick read, just a first result on google explains more or less what i was saying... https://www.ledsmagazine.com/articles/2005/05/fact-or-fiction-leds-don-t-produce-heat.html
100w led bulb produces more than 5 times the heat incandescent bulb does. so WAY more.
or if this is easier for you, 14W led bulb produces about as much heat as a 100W incandescent bulb

Maybe he does mean led. The perfect blacks on amoled are excellent for reading white text in black environment. I've wanted to punch the lcd backlight many times over.

hihi
Efficiency: LEDs emit more light per watt than incandescent light bulbs.[99] Their efficiency is not affected by shape and size, unlike fluorescent light bulbs or tubes.
Color: LEDs can emit light of an intended color without using any color filters as traditional lighting methods need. This is more efficient and can lower initial costs.
Size: LEDs can be very small (smaller than 2 mm2[100]) and are easily attached to printed circuit boards.
On/Off time: LEDs light up very quickly. A typical red indicator LED will achieve full brightness in under a microsecond.[101] LEDs used in communications devices can have even faster response times.
Cycling: LEDs are ideal for uses subject to frequent on-off cycling, unlike fluorescent lamps that fail faster when cycled often, or HID lamps that require a long time before restarting.
Dimming: LEDs can very easily be dimmed either by pulse-width modulation or lowering the forward current.[102]
Cool light: In contrast to most light sources, LEDs radiate very little heat in the form of IR that can cause damage to sensitive objects or fabrics. Wasted energy is dispersed as heat through the base of the LED.
Slow failure: LEDs mostly fail by dimming over time, rather than the abrupt failure of incandescent bulbs.[103]
Lifetime: LEDs can have a relatively long useful life. One report estimates 35,000 to 50,000 hours of useful life, though time to complete failure may be longer.[104] Fluorescent tubes typically are rated at about 10,000 to 15,000 hours, depending partly on the conditions of use, and incandescent light bulbs at 1,000 to 2,000 hours. Several DOE demonstrations have shown that reduced maintenance costs from this extended lifetime, rather than energy savings, is the primary factor in determining the payback period for an LED product.[105]
Shock resistance: LEDs, being solid-state components, are difficult to damage with external shock, unlike fluorescent and incandescent bulbs, which are fragile.
Focus: The solid package of the LED can be designed to focus its light. Incandescent and fluorescent sources often require an external reflector to collect light and direct it in a usable manner. For larger LED packages total internal reflection (TIR) lenses are often used to the same effect. However, when large quantities of light is needed many light sources are usually deployed, which are difficult to focus or collimate towards the same target.

There aren't LED screens, it is a marketing gimmick.
I wouldn't want a LED screen on a phone. You have to hold that against your face all the time, you might get LED poisoning.
This forums seems to attract the worst threads.

Hi. Have had this gorgeous phone for a few months now. Is it me or are the red and green LED notification lights less easy to see now?
In a dark room in the middle of the night, it is not a problem, but during the day (office and at home) I can't really see these lights at all... So I have to unlock the handset to see if I have any messages.
Anyone else?

same here but getting immune to it coz the batt the sound/music output and overall performace is class apart.bought this sleek gizmo just 3 dayzz bck simply luving it.
I agree that I find the red/orange LED a little dull, hard to see.
But the green LED is so bright and it looks so good imo. When that green LED starts flashing sometimes I just sit there looking at it :silly:
I have a kernel that flashes the capacitive buttons when I get a notification. Have a look for a new kernel

Clean the grill with a dry toothbrush small particles of dust will inevitably get stuck I'm the grill clear it out and You should notice a big diffrence in the light intensity, and also in the speakers.
yeah and make sure u use colgate to make it shine
I agree. The notification light is pretty hard to see, especially coming from a BlackBerries and then a Galaxy S3, in which the LED notification lights can be seen from just about any where.

I guess that the way to solve this problem is flash the kernel that inclubing button light notification~
Samsung and blckbery hav better and bright led notification led.....its funny tht htc had put two led lights on droid dna but both were so dull....almost invisble.......the company shud fix this...

This seems to vary per device (possibly per rom) as other people I know with a One complain that its too bright, but for me on mine it seems (and always has done regardless of rom) very dim. In a dull room it is easy to see, but in my bright office I struggle.
Exactly, at night, I can see a faint light, but I the daytime, forget it!
One more thing I noticed, when I am charging and whilst connected to the mains, I turn the phone off, for a fee seconds the red notification light is proper bright again... Then after a few seconds it goes back to its very dim state again.
This therefore eliminates problems with the led itself and things like dust in the grill, etc.... It must be to do with the software I reckon.... Either in the system instructions or some side effect to one of the many settings in the options........ Need help please!

I used a toothbrush, maybe I need one that is firm or hard. I got a better audio from using it the the loudspeaker on the back underneath the BeatsAudio logo so very pleased with that. I can now see 1 tiny speck of light on the rear LED and 1 tiny speck of light on the front where the ear speaker is, other than that I cant get it cleaned. Any other suggestions
The light on my V20 works well as a flashlight, but the one on my wife's Note 9 is brighter by far. Can anyone comment on how bright the ROG II's light is compared to either of those phones?
It's pretty bright... oddly it only uses one of the two flash LEDs. I don't know what the lumens are like compared to those but it's plenty to see around. When it is mounted on my bike handlebars I even turn it on at night as a headlamp and can see potholes in the road.
Because the battery is so huge I can run it for hours and it doesn't seem to make a dent in the battery.

The other one is an RGB LED for lighting up the lightning armor case. Not sure if it can be activated on its own.
The led flashlight is stupidly bright! Brightness I've ever seen on a phone for sure.

I am AMAZED at how good this battery is!!
So I was thinking about buying this device, I am using all my savings so I won't be able to buy another one for 2-3 years so I am very concerned. How bad is the red tint issue because I usually use the phone at 30-60% brightness at daytime and 10-20% at nighttime I rarely cross 80% brightness so will the red tint become huge issue for me. Is it possible they fill fix this in upcoming batches? Or should I wait for realme X2 pro?

You should've probably posted this in the Questions section, not the Accessories section, but...
The red tint issue isn't that bad in my opinion. At 30% brightness or higher it's basically non-existent. You can start to notice it below that though, but honestly when using a phone at such low brightness in dimly lit environments do you REALLY need 100% accurate gray colors? It's not massively noticable anyway unless your looking for it. I wasn't even aware it was an issue until reading about it on here and then looked to see if my phone had it (it does), and I had already used my phone a lot below 30% brightness by then and never noticed it.
Not sure what your referring to with the heat issue, as this device has no heat issues that I'm aware of. It rarely ever gets hot enough to throttle, even under heavy gaming use. Unless your referring to the back of the phone feeling warm in your hands while gaming? That's not an issue, it's by design. it's the internal cooling system doing its job by moving heat away from the CPU/GPU package and into the outer phone body where it can be radiated away. Even so I wouldn't say it gets uncomfortably hot, just warm. With any case on the phone you really don't even feel it.
It's so bad, it's in the accessories section.
So I really enjoy rgb lightings whenever and wherever they are. As my first android phone was sony xperia sp with 3 great rgb lights.
Now Im worried if I put the light on 24/7 it might get damaged or degrade over time.
Is it like an oled that will lose its red or blue or green overtime if we dont use them evenly?
Right now im on color cycle always on whe the screen is on, but im worried it might fade out or degrate and lose its brightness in long term...
Any ideas on this matter??

Not OP. I'm colour cycle. Not rooted. Is this not an option on tencent version?
All the rear light is a couple of LEDs illuminating a piece of plastic under the glass. LEDs are pretty old and reliable tech at this point in time.
I would have no concern about using the colours unevenly.
Compared to the microscopic size of the OLEDs in the display of our phone, these LEDs are giant and significantly less stressed.
TLDR: Don't worry about it, use which ever colour you like.
You could probably check out a teardown of the device, see what kind of LEDs they are and compare against a datasheet if you were really concerned.
