I found some threads on Chinese form, cannot connect SmartSwitch after root,
I believe Smart Switch only connects when Status is set to Official. I have noticed this with many Samsung Devices.

The issue was a reboot to recovery loop using reboot utilities.Fine if you didn't use a utility.

Just found a 7.1.1 FW for T355Y on Sam mobile.. unfortunately I'm out of town so will have to wait a few days to install it
Anyone know if I can root the T350 running on Android 7.1.1? Just got the update and hate the new lock screen clock and small icons in the Quicksettings bar.
Wanted to see if I could theme it somehow. Download Mode shows "Secure Download Enabled" though so I'm concerned root won't work

Install TWRP through Odin. And install SuperSU/Magisk via TWRP.
For theming you can try rootless substratum for Samsung devices running nougat.
I can install TWRP even with Secure Download Enabled?

Is it only VPN that is having issues? What kind of VPN are you using? Are you on stock firmware? Updated through OTA or Odin? Just trying to narrow things down.

Seems like it. I close it and no problem after. Been using Private Internet Access VPN but it never gave me issues until the Oreo update today. Yes stock, no root nothing and OTA.

Hmm ok thanks for the info! I have a N950FD (UAE) on stock firmware that I updated to Oreo, and I also use PIA. Just tried it now for a few minutes and it seems to be working fine. Maybe one of the settings? Might be worthwhile to uninstall the app and then reinstall and see if it resolves the issue.

Issue still remains. Intermittent DC for reason I dont know. Under more connection setings, under VPN and chose PIA and make sure it's "ALWAYS ON" and still sadly the issue remains,

Yes I have N950FD (UAE) and using it in Canada. I didn't do anything special...I had nougat before, with PIA installed and working fine. Eventually I updated to Oreo through OTA, and everything still works. Not sure, maybe another app is causing a conflict with your VPN connection?
might not be related, but i noticed after every major OS update, there tends to be something not working right. a hard reset aways fixes the problem. perhaps you can try a hard reset.

I'm hopeful that this will work for our Mi 9, once we can unlock bootloader and root:
https://mi-globe.com/miui-notification-icons-for-notch-phones/
It is fixed in 9.3.21 global beta
Oh man that would be awesome!. Since switched to my new mi9 I miss some important messages if I forget to swipe down
So i just got my phone today and realized that new notification incoming just flash on status bar once and that's it. It's really terrible and I miss seeing the icons. Is there a way i can permanently keep notification icons on the status bar?

Weird! Is that with just gravitybox module installed?
Works all good here.
As for any miui update, I doubt anything specific given really best compatibility is for AOSP roms, but perhaps request it via their threads

I just found out that in xiaomi.eu rom you can just activate notification icons from the settings... and they work correctly now without installing GB...
I think that for now I'm good like this
In the EU Rom (Global 10.2.17 Stable) it's a simple setting
- Notifications and Status Bar
- Show icons for incoming notifications
Edit : I confirm that icons also disappear in 10.2.22, they just were there a few more seconds. Dammit.

Don't hate me, but I LOVE this "bug" , android is so pishy with notifications, I don't need to be reminded all the time that spotify is running for example, I mean I can tell that it's running since I'm listening to music. I wish we could just choose wish apps are allowed to show an icon on the status bar, that'd be something

It's not a bug, it's a feature. [emoji41]
I like it, and read about it a hundred times before buying this phone, don't understand how people are still surprised about it...
Edit: nevertheless, Xiaomi should give the option for it, aware that a lot of users dislike it, as they did with notch smoothing.
