Do you have Auto-rotate enabled? Pull down the notifications until you see the quick tile settings and make sure it is enabled. If you don't see Auto-rotate there, go to Settings --> Display --> Advanced and turn on Auto-rotate screen.

@alryder: He's referring to portrait mode in the camera, not portrait orientation.
@iamfarhanansari: The N6 doesn't support portrait mode, as portrait mode like in the Pixel 2 devices uses a dedicated processor along with a heaping dose of artificial intelligence. The closest you likely will get to portrait mode would be a camera app that has a bokeh setting.

set default camera mode?

Hi guys, my camera always opens in superior auto mode (which is reallllly horrible) and I have to manually set it to manual every time... Is there any way to set default? Also is there any way to access the various scene modes in 20mpixel mode? I'm on the 257 firmware
Cheers

Nope, if you launch the camera from the apps (or icon on home screen) it'll start in manual mode and that's it (and no, there's no way around it yet, and no nobody knows if sony will add it in future firmwares)
Darn, I was really liking the hard camera button on the side because you could actually use it as a point and shoot camera, quickly... Guess I'll hope for a custom rom or an app which allows for some customisation of this... Or a fix for superior auto, yech.

What app to capture RAW pictures?

What app do you all use to capture RAW files from the camera? I thought you would be able to do so in Pro mode but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Put it in pro mode and click the gear icon for settings. It's in there. Must be in pro mode to turn it on though.
Yeah Raw images option only comes when the mode is Pro, go to settings there you can activate it!
Now just need a way to make it default to Pro Mode. Double tapping the home button to get the camera from the lock screen is pointless if I have to go thru menus to switch to Pro Mode

To be fair, if you are trying to capture something very quickly, you probably are better off using the normal mode and snap a picture. I find myself only using Pro Mode when I want to just take some time and get everything just right for the scene like landscapes and macro shots.
I dont need the pro mode features, just the RAW capture so I can do full manual tweaking later. I am a heavy photoshop user/tweaker, but not a camera expert, so I generally dont bother with most of the settings on the phone itself (I have though, since the Note 5 isnt the best at deciding how to handle very dark situations)

Camera Modes Shortcut on Home Screen

Hi!
Does anyone know how to create additional camera modes shortcut on Home Screen? (Example: Super Slo-mo Mode, Pro Mode, etc)
For now I can only find Selfie Mode and Auto Mode available by default.
I saw demo phones at the mall has many modes on the Home Screen. Not sure how they did that....
Thanks in advance!!

Portrait Mode issues?

Like we already know, Portrait Mode there are an option on the Bokeh, but why Never Success on me?
How to fix this?
The results still the same as standard Portrait Mode

Any update about this issues?
My experience is that portrait mode works when it can find a face looking at the camera. The software seems to get confused on the subject when that isn't present. Your two examples are profiles, which I suspect is the problem.
For these shots, use aperture mode.
That I mean the effect, why doesn't work?

What effect do you mean? Portrait mode is meant to be used with a proper distance from the subject and its background for isolation
I'm not following what you mean either. Aperture mode does the same effect with subject isolation but when a face is not present. Portrait mode is looking for a face because it does a beauty effect as well as background blur. Aperture mode is the same effect. Try it at a low number and you'll see.
I think he means the bokeh "lights" effect. You need little lights behind the subject to create that effect. The different bokeh effects on portrait mode just change what shape the lights will be.
