Hello,
since Oreo update when NFC tag is read the phone asks me in which app (Samsung Health, Tags, another Tags and Automate) I want to 'open' it with no (known to me) way to select default app. Is there any way to disable this behavior?
I have a wallet case in which I have 5 cards (2 NFC access cards, 1 RFID access card and 2 magnetic strip loyalty cards). Problem is that when I hold the phone I'm used to fold the wallet case to back of my phone and the phone randomly reads any of the NFC cards and shows me the popup. It is extremely intrusive as it basically interrupts the thing I've been doing.
Disabling the NFC is not an option as I need it for Google Pay to work and I'm using it multiple times every day. Disabling Tags app is not possible as it is system app and Disable button is greyed out. Also uninstalling Samsung Health and Automate is not an option as I use both heavily.
Any ideas?
EDIT: as advised by user @OnnoJ I've put one sheet of aluminum foil to the pocket of my wallet case and the problem is now gone.

1. Remove cards from wallet.
2. Tape aluminum foil to front of your wallet to prevent reading of the cards in wallet when flipped.
1. Not an option as I use the access cards every day.
2. Good idea. I'll try this, I hope that I will not need too thick aluminum layer.
The aluminum foil did the trick, I just put one sheet to the pocket of my wallet case.
Aluminum foil
Wouldn't the aluminum foil reduce the GSM field has well?
I have no reception problems. It is possible, but it's negligible as I live in a capital city and reception is great here.

I recently had a problem with my s6 edge where the screen would randomly lock up and give me a black screen with a small x but it was unresponsive. Even if I powered it down via the power button and volume down key it would boot back into that black screen
Here is a video I found that someone else uploaded with the same problem.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtdahXCetu4
Now I am no expert but after some research I found the problem to be that the phone thinks it is in VR mode and basically locks the user out of using the screen. The reason it thinks it is in VR mode is because that metal tab piece inside the charger port was touching the bottom of the phone causing it to lock itself in VR mode which is why the phone will often freeze up when charger or won't charge when in this frozen state.
I found a fix, which may only be temporary but I thought I would share since I could not find a tutorial anywhere else.
To Unfreeze:
1. VERY VERY gently use something small like tweezers or a tiny flat screwdriver to lift the metal piece inside the charger up just a little. The image below is the metal piece that should be lifted incase there is confusion, I drew a small red marker around it.

Guide to Fix from happening again
1. I used Titanium Backup to freeze all the Gear VR programs but then the problem occurred again, except this time the screen just froze as my wallpaper instead of the black screen so you also need step 2
2. I then used a DisableService application and under system tab, I disabled all four items on "Gear VR Services"
I haven't had the problem since I disabled the gear vr services so hopefully it will fix it permanently
Unconfirmed fix
0. If you can get your hands on a VR headset you can attempt plugging it in and unplugging it to reset , but I do not have one so unknown if it would work.
If anyone more knowledge has any information or better fixes feel free to share incase I'm completely wrong here
I'm well behind the curve on Android in the car and I'm not sure this is even the right place for it but I have a concept for a system and I'm not sure whether the current state of the art permits it. But here goes anyway.
The car is exotic and rare: a Renault Avantime. Here's the cockpit:

}
You'll note that it's a work of art (may not be to your taste but it's one of those rare beasts; a concept show car that actually went into production). So I don't want to mess with it too much. You'll also note that there's a bump with a Satnav screen (factory system: old VDO/Dayton thing) on top of the dash. There's also a large flap cover forward of the gearshift; that covers a double-DIN hole which was used for the factory CD and satnav controls panel. The factory radio is a headless unit under the seat which runs a dashboard display and steering wheel controls - with a remote for more complex functions.
What I want to install is an Android system with multiple inputs and outputs. The primary display would take the place of the flap forward of the gearshift. The brains of the thing may or may not be integrated into that display.
Inputs would consist of:
- a cabin webcam used for Skype etc.
- a backup camera (no factory fit)
- a forward-looking thermal camera for night vision
The primary touchscreen display would be in front of the gearshift as described. The existing Satnav display would be adapted for a secondary screen (probably not a touchscreen; just a display): normally it would show Google Maps - or some other app for nav data. But it would be selectable via software to display the backup camera view, the thermal camera view, or the Skype display when in a Skype video call.
Obviously the unit would need to be capable of controlling and driving an external AM/FM receiver/amp for that side of the entertainment functionality.
Is any Android system capable of handling these multiple inputs and outputs? The ability to display specific apps on the secondary display is kinda crucial to what I want to do here; are there any general solutions to getting multiple video streams into and out of an Android device? Or would I be better considering a bespoke car PC based on Linux or something? Any suggestions gratefully received.
I know it's been discussed before, but according to the N9600 variant getting root recently, the dev @Mentalmuso made up my mind with his WETA thread unsurprisingly the .apk I've been looking for was there but obviously it's unable to install for being a system thing which makes me wonder:
Since the system partition is untouchable without root (which is not in sight) and this apk has to be placed there to work, flashing it somehow is the only option I suppose.
Just for the clarification - I don't like the Next radio experience at all and I'll name the reasons from top to bottom:
1. No record button - this is the most critical for me. The Recforge workaround which I counted on no longer works here.
2. No RDS. There is a built in database that gathers up information on your current location and names the frequencies to the stations in this area. For people outside U.S.A this feature is useless.
3. No swipe for fast navigation across the dial. Inconvenient manual frequency typing forces me to empty the field then type in the desired value, must insert a "."dot for decimal separation.
4. Only odd numbers are displayed. It may as well pick up the even ones properly (since 2016 it should) but still display them as odds.
5. On screen advertisements - I wish to use a service that is already commercial, why do I need such obstacles in the way?
6. Load times - though quite minor flaw but Next radio has a splash screen for at least 2~3 seconds then it takes a few more seconds from the moment you push the operate button until you can hear a sound, compared to the stock operation which takes almost instantly. Also the seek buttons have a small delay in Next radio.
Again, only the miss of record is really bugging me to the point I consider a switch to N9600. If Recforge did it for me (or a sound recorder equivalent) I could live with the rest. Apart from this I'm completely fine unrooted.
Any idea of how to legit flash this .apk or a new way to record that doesn't involve aux and streaming?

Hello I have a motorola edge xt2063-2 and a samsung galaxy a20. My primary phone is the moto and I am completely new to NFC and understanding how it works exactly. When I try to read/write NFC with my moto and tap the back of my samsung a20 it says it is incompatable. On my moto I use an application called NXP Tag Writer. Are these two phones just incompatable with nfc? With tagwriter, i want it so when I touch the A20 it simply just opens up google chrome, I created a 'launch application' com.google.chrome dataset within tagwriter(just as a start for understanding NFC) but when I touch the phones together it gives me a fail error. If there are any threads that may be able to teach nfc for dummies for motorola or can offer any links to guides or different apps I should try or advice it would be appreciated. I really like motorola so I'll probably keep this brand for years to come. Thank you
Samsung heavily modifies everything, moto doesn't. NFC is near field communication - it's a protocol - it works if your phone has the hardware. See preeceding sentence....
You wrote: "Are these two phones just incompatable with nfc?" That's quite the stretch to make - NFC works on both of these devices - they are compatible with NFC.

I'll take a look at your link, and by incompatable I don't mean with NFC, I mean linking each other through NFC, maybe I'm trying to make it so my samsung will store a tag that will make it launch chrome when touching another nfc device? I simply want it so when (with either device) when it touches another nfc capable smartphone, it will launch chrome. Here is a screenshot, I also get 'failed' if I try to erase the nfc tags on my samsung.

That link I sent was just a rudimentary - what is NFC - link. I wish I knew more - sorry, I don't want to convolute the issue any so Imma shut up. Maybe try a different app? I dunno -

How to use NFC on Android: Mobile payments, tags, fast pairing, and more
NFC isn't 'new' technology anymore, but it's still handy. Wondering how to use NFC on your Android phone? We'll walk you through it!

First of all, I will say that Google is the most arrogant/ignorant company that I've ever heard of. There are milions of complaints regarding the "NavBar stupid/sht pill"/StatusBar. Why, the hell would I invest in a phone with good screen to body ratio and dpi, if I cant take full advantage of it. Before Android 12/13, you could easily remove statusbar/navbar(pill) the way you wanted. But, Google decided they are the boss and removed all those possibilities to remove those via adb. Another thing, if I try to use a custom gesture app, I can only use the diagonal gestures because the normal ones(left, right) cannot be overriden because Google never allowed that. How shty can a company be to not even care of their users and even do everything against them, really!!
Another thing, is that I still dont have Android 13 on my Moto Edge 30 Ultra while I got bored of it when having S20 Ultra! And another thing is that touching the screen doesnt always wakes it up. Maybe is some sort of measure from Motorola to conserve battery because I dont find them capable of doing something good as Samsung did. Is anyone else experiencing/experienced this?
As I said, on my S20 Ultra I could do all the things, apps like System UI Tuner, cmd commands and gesture, everything worked flawlessly such that I always had a FULL immersive experience. After I changed the company, everything is havoc! Google, shame on you!
If you guys emphatize with how I feel, please thumbs up! Take care!
Look how ugly it looks like. 3 years later and will be in the same situation if we rely on these thieves!!

2. No issue with tapping the display to wake up screen. Btw, it's not double tap but single tap.
3. I LOVE the new Motorola homescreen especially the new Motorola widget. Everything is there - the battery widget, alarm widget, weather and clock in one. Very consistent, minimal and uncluttered. Good job, Moto!
