ICESOUND FOR NOUGAT AND OREO DEVICES
Welcome Everyone!!!!!
This is still highly beta but Alot of success so far. latest IceSound and fully working AudioWizard (All Nougat Devices and One Plus 3 and 3T only). Files were pulled from Zenphone 3 Oreo firmware and modded by myself and @Nemuritor01. had alot of help from @UltraM8 (ainur), GH, @Skittles9823, @eph_is_dead, @secone00, and @Zackptg5. Major Shoutout to everyone involved in this project!
Latest version is v2.9 on magisk repo.
lastest is now 4.1 4.6 V5.0!!! and zip is now uploaded here for any magisk users or supersu/non-root/linage-su users who wish to use it

Please install and provide as much feedback as possible. the configs 1 2 and 3 are for compatibility (to process). not to be confused with presets. If config 1 doesnt work then flash zip 2 more times to choose config 2 and etc.
There is a file in the zip as well called IceSound.prop. please read this file and copy it to Internal storage and choose either prop 1 2 or 3 by marking true. do this before you flash. ( if you dont the install will still succeed by choosing prop 2 which we feel is the best. This file IceSound.prop is no longer needed/installed. all is done in a terminal script by typing su then icewizard.
AGAIN YOU WILL NOT GET AUDIOWIZARD UI IF YOU ARE ON OREO UNLESS YOU OWN A ONE PLUS 3 OR 3T. AUDIOWIZARD IS FOR THOSE TWO DEVICES AND ALL NOUGAT DEVICES. PLEASE PROVIDE FEEDBACK SO WE CAN ATTEMPT TO PORT AUDIOWIZARD UI TO ALL OREO DEVICES
Actually now you can choose from full AudioWizard w/ IceSound or IceSound only. if choosing full then you have choice of using asus audioflinger or not. choosing asus aduioflinger may cause bootloop. you have been warned. One Plus 3/3t users and all nougat users will still get full AW by default The Full/Audioflinger options have been removed in v5.0
Also 4.6 fixes bootloops for kenzo and OnePlus 5/5t devices. please install again if you have one of these devices.

As of v4.9 bootloops for one plus 3/3t and other devices have been fixed.
also in v5.0 i added a terminal script to change presets/configs/props. i would like to personally thank @veez21 for making his terminal scripts as templates and keeping his scripts organized and clean. As someone who is still learning and this was my first script without basically copying code it was a pretty easy to use template. Thank You Veez21 :good:

Will it still break viper if aml is installed ?
You can test. But on most devices it will need global audio output. Same as viper and that's where the conflict is. So Icesound will take the priority and will disable viper.
But test. It's a magisk module. So if it's not working, you can remove it.

Does this provide equaliser like viper , can this be used as substitute to viper ?

Many are reporting bootloops ? What's the solution, is that all devices are not supported or choosing preset is going wrong or what else ?
Bootloops shouldn't happen. We've blocked the installation of the full AudioMod for Oreo devices except OnePlus 3 and 3t OxygenOS Oreo and nougat devices.
Tough not all nougat devices will be able to run it fully.
Highly possible, that James DSP and viper don't process, bit depends on the config your device can run Icesound. You need to test.
To test if Icesound is working, play music, open a terminal emulator and type
su -c killall dk.icepower.icesound
If sound changes or cuts off, ice is working.
I recommend to reboot your device after this, to get Icesound fully running again.
Ok so now ice sound is working checked with terminal
Had to remove viper was not working
After installing ice sound module is there supposed to be an equaliser app installed along with it
In my case no such equaliser is installed but a music app is installed which is of no use it always hangs

If on oreo then no there is no app other than music. But you can uninstall if you want. Just some places in the Java code of ice look for that app. Im working on adding a terminal script to change presets (we will use the ones from arise) which will change sound. Audiowizard will only install on Nougat which is a eq

I've installed 3.7 configuration 2 on 64 bit Nexus 6p 8.1 Oreo stock rom. I have AML, ainur, Dolby Atmos Oreo and 2.5.0.5 viper via magisk. No boot loop on both configuration 1 or 2. Viper needs to be renabled after initial installation and reboot. Used terminal to test. Sound gets interrupted but continues after a while. The sound is much clearer and compact than without. I uninstalled icesound module to compare. All sound mods latest versions. I hope it's not placebo.

if the killall command affects sound in any way then that config is the one you use. you then have to reboot to get it to work again as the killall command kills ice. this is intended

Yes, I rebooted. Just had to renable viper the docnok63 way and sound is back to normal. As I said earlier, the sound is clearer. Without the icesound mod v37 and viper alone, the sound is less so. But I thought you can't have both viper and icesound working simultaneously?

I tried both configuration 1 and 2. Both worked. The only thing I really wish is for viper to not stop processing when I switch between headphones, speaker and Bluetooth. For example, after using car stereo Bluetooth and turning music on speaker, viper stops processing. I have to use docnok63 fix to renable it. Funny thing is, this doesn't happen when using music player but Spotify. Any suggestions or lines to delete?

try config 3. if viper stops processing this isnt something that we can fix. its an unintended side effect. if thats the worse that happens using ice and viper then honestly its not that bad

Lol. Thanks. Forgot to mention it's been happening long before trying icesound. I read a possible fix in Dolby Atmos thread but cannot find the actual post for the life of me. I've been going through every page and searched every phrase I can think of.

Before, wish to say that I had spent a lot time looking for a soundmod thats makes my Xperia T [Locked Bootloader] and after unsuccessful testin with AC!D, AwesomeBeats and other I finally get a significant gain in sound quality and louder with V4A.
Now lets blahblahblah away and work:

For Poweramp and system-provided music players (such as MIUI music player, Apollo etc.):
After FX v2204, XHiFi v2007:
To use V4A with Poweramp properly, you need to follow the steps below.
In both FX and XHiFi app, switch to Compatible Mode. Then reboot.
NEW Compatible Mode:
Compatible Mode supports large variety of music players and the players' own EQ/sound effects (system-provided/third party)
Therefore, you don't have to select V4A in Sound Settings > Music Effects, choose anything other than V4A. Just run V4A app and the effects will be working with anything else.
1. In option, switch to Compatible Mode. Reboot, done.
2. In Sound Settings > Music Effects, choose other than V4A.
3. Run V4A app and configure the settings then the effects will work together with the one you chose in Sound Settings.
NEW Safe Mode:
If V4A dont work on many players, try switching to Safe Mode to work with almost any music player.
1. In option, switch to Safe Mode. Reboot, done.

NOTE: Now I`m using PureXaudio + V4A. I noticed a better improvement with both togheter. I made this by my own, if you wanna try then flash PureXaudio, then after add path for V4A drivers into PureXaudio moddified "audio_efects.conf" located in /system/etc/ and /system/vendor/etc/
(You can try make automatic install mode after install PureXaudio, should works too).
In order to use the New In-App Installation, a full busybox must have been installed.

No problem! I`m on JB 4.1.2 on my Xperia T and is OK.
Also suppots Jb 4.2 as said in Official thread...
Be carefull with aligment of the lines and don`forget to save copy or rename original as .bak

In response to your question:
R: To keep speaker activated you need to lock mode in FX and XHIFI aplications. (Speaker had improves, but not so much as noticed in headphones)

Thank you for your quick response. I finished all the process but FX Aplication doesn´t open, only the XHIFI....any ideas why?

Open audio_effects.conf located in /system/etc/ and delete lines:
Delete this below libraries:
"v4a_fx {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libv4a_fx_ics.so
}"
Delete this below effects:
"v4a_standard_fx {
library v4a_fx
uuid 41d3c987-e6cf-11e3-a88a-11aba5d5c51b
}"
Do that only for audio_effects.conf thats located on system/etc/
audio_effects.conf file located in /system/vendor/etc/ keeps the same.
Se my audio_effects.conf files in attachment. (Dont forget I on Experiment 2.3 LB and our conf files mays be different)
The file audio_effects.config(vendor-etc).txt refer to /system/vendor/etc/
Edit .txt to default .conf

I share my audio_effects.conf just to you compare with your.
For me FX and XHIFI Works OK as you can see in screenshoots below:

I´ll see what I can do....In you explanation, you put the FX lines after the XHIFI....could that be the problem?
EDIT: I´ve made the changes but the FX apk doesn´t open....only the XHIFI :/ And it´s the one that i´m interested that doesn´t open....the FX one. Do I need to have Unlocked BL?

No needed unlocked bootloader.

Did you fixed permissions and reboot?
What device is yours? Xperia T lt30p?
If yes, them replace your edited files for respectively audio_effects.conf files I shared in system/etc and system/vendor/etc.
Dont forget to delete .txt extensions and (vendor-etc) on second file.
Them reboot, then reintall FX and open...

Edit audio files is only a bit more boring part of process...
If you lazy and don't want to edit files then you can download txt I've attached in #9 post from my xperia T. ( backup the originals)
After all, the only work you'll have to do with this is: Download>Copy>Rename>Replace files...
As you see, the guy get it all workin...

Nice!
Take a note about enable Compolser impulse and headset, almost low-end headset will distorce in high volume levels, so its recommended a high or mid-end headset... Try the diffrents irs profiles and see

This is awesome, a little tricky to install but finally we got a working and awesome Sound mod. Using stock Wired headset sounfs quite good but indeed with some better ones the Sound ROCKS!!

Compare your audio_effects.conf with txt files that I shared in #9post.
If different just edit the lines, if is the same you can replace it on your device (backup original conf files before)

Previously i am just fan of viper4droid but this mod is just awesome
Its a combination of all best audio mods including viper4droid so u can set them at same time to get best out of your music
I am using viper4droid doulby atmos XTREMEMUSIC Audiofx and can tell u just heartbreaking music experience

Most of users saying viper4droid is not working with this mod so be sure u have done following things before installing viper4droid drivers for Android M
1) latest busybox installed
2)set selinux mode to permissive mode
3) put u r viper4droid folder in data>media >legacy
4) don't forget to install viperfix.zip folder frim relevant thread

Its a universal audio mod u can give a try?
There is Uninstaller zip is also there just keep it and keep backup also
If something goes wrong just flash Uninstaller zip
Works beautifully on MahdiROM 2.9 KK. Glad they included V4A. I'll definitely be sharing some profiles for this.

U have to install viper fix. Zip from relevant thread.
Set selinux to permissive mode
And if u r using it on cm 13 place viper4droid folder in data> media>legacy

Kinda but not really works with miui 7 rom for oneplus. App opens but delays a lot and ends ups closing. Viper installs driver, asks to reboot to finish instalation, on reboot asks to install again.
Can't say I'm surprised, I've never managed to install any sound mod on miui7. Also sound doesn't play at all - opened youtube, played a video, app crashed before playing anything.
Was better than the last time I tried a different sound mod, last time totally borked the rom, wouldn't even boot properly and when it did, too many forced closes to be able to do anything.
Shame because although the rom is pretty great, default sound is very underwhelming and has no default option to improve...
Oh well, reverted to previous nandroid, all well again, no better audio though.
Which V4A drivers you installed? Does super audio quality drains a lot of battery?

But u can use viper4droid only while listening music don't use it for ideal phone use means for speakers except at the time of listening music

Hi @pankspoo, thanks for sharing the mod with us. I have 2 questions in regarding to the mod.
1) U mentioned abt the Viperfix.zip, is that needed as i was able to Instal V4A drivers with no issues. So do i need to bother about that zip?
2) R u still using RR MM Rom with Lightning Kernel V1? as i heard that Lightning kernel only works with CAF based roms, but RR is a non CAF ROM right? So is that kernel really helps than the RR Provided kernel?

You will get bugs and errors if you flash it over any other sound mod, so if you have any sound mod (mostly Dolby or Viper) uninstall using my uninstall zip provided in the top of the thread. Then install wicked beats it should be fine. (no offense) have fun ✌

But when I click update zip in stock recovery, it shows update only performs in non encrypted external sd card. Do i need to ignore and continue with flashing. Also do i need to change the zip file name to 'update' to flash. Thanks...

You cannot use it in stock recovery, TWRP recovery required. ✌

I'm currently using Resurrection Remix 6.1.0 and most things work correct. The only issue i have is sound quality and level.
I'd try too many versions of viper4android but all of them have some bugs. Some of them works but sometimes not proccesing. I have to reboot the phone multiple of times to work again. Sometimes works but suddenly stop to procces ? . I disabled Viper4Android and re-enabled that, force stop, clear cache and data, reset settings and in the end nothing!
Another issue is speaker sound. Its too low even on viper4android. I set everything on highest level but not enough. On Miui 9 (Custom ROM) and Nougat 7.1 everything was awesome, but on Oreo 8.1 is terrible.
I saw in some threads that peploe talk about Viper4Android works great! I want to know which version do use on 8.1 custome roms?
If you use another sound driver addons like Dolby Atmos and others and work great, please tell me to know that.

It's well known that every Oreo base custom ROM has some weak sound output. None app will fix the speaker output. Nougat ROMs are your choice if the sound output is your priority.
I'm running MSM Xtended v9.5 by Jay_B (which is my all time favourite ROM - highly recommended) and I have rooted with Magisk v16.0.
Magisk, when installed, has a list of downloads. I have downloaded and installed the modules:-
"Audio Modification Library" v1.8 by Zackptg, Ahrion and
"VIPER4Android FX" v1.7 by VIPER520, ZhuHang, Team_Dewitt, Ahrion, Zackptg
When installing viper I chose the 2.5.0.5 Material version.
I'm not sure if the Audio Mod makes a difference or if the version of viper makes any difference but this is what I am running and very happy with it.
I use viper mainly to listen to music (128gb sd card full with mostly music).
Try the Magisk approach to install, I'm a long time fan of viper and we have had some hard times installing viper over the last few versions of Android but the Magisk approach has worked well for me for some time now.
If you still have no luck, give MSM Xtended a try, it really is an excellent ROM.
To all the devs mentioned above - thank you for all your time, effort and the amount of work you put in to this.
check the last 2-3 pages of posts in the MSM Xtended rom thread, after trying a lot of different sound mods i finally found a dolbyatmos mod that actually makes a HUGE difference both in volume level and quality of speaker output. its the only mod ive tried that really works and has a very noticeable impact. everything else, incouding viper4android, sauron mod, musicfx amd the inbuilt rom equalizer had no effect whatsoever.

Always, in my works (rom) MIUI, published on Xda, I have always used Dolby, in combination with other tweaks.
Listen to the sound, more full-bodied, being able to change the tones for my tastes.
All this was fluid up to Oreo.
With Pie I followed many tutorials here, but for me ineffective on MIUI stock or Xiaomi.eu (the one I use most).
There are more weekly releases rom, which I use this series of packages, with my procedure that I later illustrate with excellent results.
Dolby doesn't crash, even after setting changes. and is perfectly grafted with Viper. The most surprising thing is that the sound is more full-bodied.
For me, amazing compared to the previous configurations used in the previous Android versions rom,
which I previously used in my roms, from android 4.4.4 onwards ...

Faq for noobs:
- If you want to have a good result, follow the instructions in Op-
- Before each installation of a new Miui rom version: first uninstall all Magisk modules / restart / complete uninstall Magisk
-After each installation of a new Miui rom installation: install the precise magisk version shown in the OP (will there be a reason?)
- Do not create a mess of various versions of magisk otherwise, you will only patch the kernel several times .... and DOLBY WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU !!!!! The ignorance of others is not the fault of the author .....
If you made the broth with magisk versions:
- Uninstall magisk
- Use you winrar or other .. and extract boot.img from the rom. copy the file to RN7. Restart in recovery select the boot.img file, after the target (boot)
restart in recovery select the magisk version recommended in OP.
- I noticed that often when installing magisk modules, using the miui file explorer something goes wrong ... I use MIXPLORER.APK
- My procedure was carried out using only the modules listed in OP. I don't know if other modules can create conflicts.
_ USE ONLY ORIGINAL KERNEL IF YOU WANT THAT DOLBY WORKS.
- You connect the brain to your hands to understand if Dolby is not working because of your inexperience or because of the author.
SMALL NOTES:
Obviously, as I wrote above, the perfectly working test was carried out using MIUI 11 VERSION 20.1.9 ONLY

Can explain to me why are they using so many sound mods at the same time? They all have too many similarities to me, i just use v4a and it's fantastic compared to stock or audiofx. But I'm not exactly an expert of sound modding.

after all installed and some pictures taken in HDR + mode the same crashed. I can only take pictures in HDR mode. I tried installing before with xiaomi.eu + evira 4.x and my rn7 no opened no cell phone camera. So I went to try with xiaomi.eu beta 9.8.15 + all the mods described and the HDR + mode stopped working, any solution? Sorry for my bad english. Google translator.

Was after having installed all this, but after many tests, I realized that it starts to fail after doing a dirty installation of the ROM, I did a dirty installation with the xiaomi.eu, an error of mine, the conflict is not only with these modules, it is with everyone I tested. sorry.
I apologize for not having responded immediately to your comments. it's not part of me. Unfortunately last Saturday, due to the breaking of a water pipe, the whole house where I lived was flooded. I didn't have electricity then.

As already said, my house was flooded! but I'm sure it wasn't my package's fault here on xda! I've never had any problems, I never found influences between this tweaks and the software part of the camera .... in fact HDR has always worked for me.
p.s. and really strange that on 450 downloads (up to now) of this packages on average, you only have this problem. Did you think this before publishing here? -
Besides that, to be sure that everything was ok, I tested these packages for, many weekly releases, BEFORE I publish here..... I said the first thread :highfive:

a bit same ???? I haven't tried these packages on video and don't know if it works in the latest Pie Miui versions,. BUT I had already written in the first thread that I had already tried other packages, also here on XDA - But it just didn't work! You simply had to read my thread. The question I ask myself is why are there hunters looking for the evil of others ????
p.s. Roughly from what I read in the video preview (I don't remember the sequence), these are the packages I used! but with Oreo! In fact, they didn't work with Pie for me

simply because I use dolby to increase the emphasis of the sound. in fact I leave viper4, in default sound gain. Viper4 I only use instead for frequency cuts, and surround ..

Dolby doesn't work on my RN7 running MIUI.eu 9.8.22. JamesDSP and Viper work ok (with stuttering on the first second of every song, but having used viper for years I just gave up on trying to fix this). But Dolby doesn't process audio.
I tried to install Dolby Atmos but i can't run it. is there anybody who can success?

dolby digital + works very well for me ( redmi note 7 - xiaomi eu 9.8.15 - evira 4.5 and the mod Atlantis Concept 2.1 )
my mod on magix: Ainur JamesDSP + Audio Modification Library + Dolbi Digital+ and Viper4Android FX
works perfectly fine on 10.3.6.0
Works perfectly in xiaomi eu - MIUI 11 - 9.9.26

I don't use the above mods.
I use V4A, Dolby, Audio compatibility patch, and audio modification library.
It works on my redmi note 7, MIUI 11.0.2.0
Dolby and V4A both work, JDSP crashed... But I only use first two anyway
Running MiuiMiX 11.1 v9.10.31 beta on MiMax3
(latest MagiskManager, Magisk 19.4)

It doesn't work on Lineage OS 16 on my rn7 unfortunately, before I had Miui 10 global and it did work. Pity
EDIT2: Hmm i did get it to work:
Cleared all sound mods. Boot to recovery flash Viper4android legacy 4.4, flash Dolby Digital Unity for Pie(latest, see their dedicated forum on xda) and lastly flash Audio Modification Library 2.4 (it should say patching viper and dolby) and then reboot.
Dolby Digital crashes out after changing a setting but then just restart the app and the setting change is there. And it works !
