I'm building an extra lean LineageOS 14.1 ROM for our Mi 5s Capricorn with a few added features. A lot of packages have been stripped down, only the bare minimum is built to provide a fast and stable ROM. That gives you much more freedom as you can install exactly what you really want from the Playstore. You can install most of the missing packages manually, they are available in a flashable zip on the server (see second post).
For Changelog see third post.
My approach for DARK ROM 14.1 is slightly different then many of the other ROM's, as I try to add as many Pixel features as possible while keeping a solid LineageOS base.

SafetyNet
The ROM is already designed to pass SafetyNet out of the box. No need to lock the bootloader (which I advise you to do ONLY on a pure factory image install) because the kernel has the patch for it. If you want root, you'll need to install Magisk, which comes pre-rooted. Then, enable Magisk Hide in Magisk Manager, hard reboot and you should be good to go. Also, do not enable busybox in Magisk Manager, that will cause you to randomly lose root. You'll get all you need to know on the Magisk thread.
ViPER4Android/ViPER4Arise
The ROM is designed to work with both ViPER4Android and ViPER4Arise out of the box without the need for SuperSU or any Magisk module. The SEPolicy already contains the necessary permissions for them to work even in Enforcing. All you need to do is flash the package of your choice.
Prerequisites:
You will need latest firmware like any other LOS based ROM
Latest TWRP recovery
If coming from any other ROM
- Backup first... and then test the backup
- Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache
- Install DARK ROM
- Install GAPPS (mandatory or you will not have core apps)
- Install Magisk if you want root
- Install launcher if using nano GApps Dark Pixel Launcher

- Backup (unless you are brave or a fool)

On the server you will find a file named ExtraPackages_date.zip which contains a few apps that are not available out of the box in my builds (see list). You won't have to flash it every update, since there is a survival script. I suggest you open the zip and remove the files you don't need before flashing it the first time.

INSTALLATION :
Root permission and Custom recovery (PhilZ Touch 6.48.4 or twrp-2.8.7.0) is required for flashing any custom rom so make sure you are done this part.
Make sure your phone is fully charged to 100%.
Now follow as below:
Download the ROM zip and make sure md5sum is matched then transfer to your phone (optional)
Download MM compatible kernel and transfer to your phone
Boot the phone into Recovery Mode
Do a FULL wipe: Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, System even if coming from a port rom
Flash rom
The first boot may take 15-20 min
This ROM comes with NO KERNEL, you need to flash a compatible MM kernel before or after flashing the ROM. If you already running MM kernel no need flashing it again.
After booting up in setting wizard make sure to uncheck diagnostic data

This is a port rom so expect some bugs due to the fact that all features and mods including in this rom are supposed to be running on a S7Edge device and with a different hardware structure. If you are looking for a bug-free rom then you cannot found it here.

Installation Steps
Root permission and Custom recovery (TWRP 3.0.0-0) is required for flashing any custom rom so make sure you are done this part.
Make sure your phone is fully charged to 100%.
Now follow as below:
Download the ROM zip and make sure md5sum is matched then transfer to your phone
Flash odin latest modem and bootloader
Boot the phone into Recovery Mode
Do a FULL wipe: Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, System even if coming from a port rom
Flash rom
The first boot may take 15-20 min
After booting up in setting wizard make sure to uncheck diagnostic data

How about bugs?
This is a port rom so expect some bugs due to the fact that all features and mods including in this rom are supposed to be running on a Note7 device and with a different hardware structure. However it was attempted to fix and provide as less bug free as possible for daily use. Here are major known issues for your info:

I do not know the port LineageOS 14.1 from Galaxy Alpha will be stable or not,
might be better rebuild LineageOS from source code provided.

Hi guys,
I'm building an extra lean LineageOS 14.1 ROM for our Mi 5s Capricorn with a few added features. A lot of packages have been stripped down, only the bare minimum is built to provide a fast and stable ROM. That gives you much more freedom as you can install exactly what you really want from the Playstore. You can install most of the missing packages manually, they are available in a flashable zip on the server (see second post).
For Changelog see third post.
My approach for DARK ROM 14.1 is slightly different then many of the other ROM's, as I try to add as many Pixel features as possible while keeping a solid LineageOS base.

SafetyNet
The ROM is already designed to pass SafetyNet out of the box. No need to lock the bootloader (which I advise you to do ONLY on a pure factory image install) because the kernel has the patch for it. If you want root, you'll need to install Magisk, which comes pre-rooted. Then, enable Magisk Hide in Magisk Manager, hard reboot and you should be good to go. Also, do not enable busybox in Magisk Manager, that will cause you to randomly lose root. You'll get all you need to know on the Magisk thread.
ViPER4Android/ViPER4Arise
The ROM is designed to work with both ViPER4Android and ViPER4Arise out of the box without the need for SuperSU or any Magisk module. The SEPolicy already contains the necessary permissions for them to work even in Enforcing. All you need to do is flash the package of your choice.
Prerequisites:
You will need latest firmware like any other LOS based ROM
Latest TWRP recovery
If coming from any other ROM
- Backup first... and then test the backup :cyclops:
- Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache
- Install DARK ROM
- Install GAPPS (mandatory or you will not have core apps)
- Install Magisk if you want root[/COLOR]
- Install launcher if using nano GApps[/COLOR] Dark Pixel Launcher

If coming from a previous build:
- Backup (unless you are brave or a fool)
- Flash DARK ROM
- Install Magisk

On the server you will find a file named ExtraPackages_date.zip which contains a few apps that are not available out of the box in my builds (see list). You won't have to flash it every update, since there is a survival script. I suggest you open the zip and remove the files you don't need before flashing it the first time.

My dudes, I'm having some trouble installing this ROM. I've tried starting fresh with a clean install of the latest MIUI global stable. Then I tried flashing the dark ROM, dark gapps, then the dark pixel launcher. I tried the same thing twice, and one of those times I also flashed the extras package. Each time I've tried, the ROM just reboots part way through the initial setup (after flashing, not in TWRP)
Any idea what I'm not doing right? I like to think I'm no amateur at flashing devices, but this one's got me stumped.

DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

New OTA Updater why removed old one?
- This Updater is taken from omni rom it allows users to flash locally downloaded file (not just Sourceforge from other mirrors (Telegram Google Drive Mega ETC)) and it will be flashed from selecting local file from file manager
- We are also planning to switch to incremental updates for each build so that if you are on old one build you will get incremental update not whole package
How To Install OTA Update[ New Updater]
-Just Download (from updater app or from download manager or copy downloaded file from pc to phone) then go to derpfest updater (under settings/system) and tap on top right 3 dot icon open settings from it and enable "Local File Flash" option now after you come back to main updates menu it will show "File" option tap on it and navigate to downloaded file then select it, and it will start installing ota updates after it successfully install you can reboot (do not reboot if you want magisk to survive (see step below) if not then you can just reboot)
If you want magisk to survive after ota updates
after installation complets just go to magisk manager tap on first option then tap "Install Magisk" Tap on it and in select install
tap on install again and in select install method select last option
"Install To Inactive slot after OTA" tap on it and let the process finish after it finished just tap on reboot now (make sure updates have been installed) and done

Why My Google Assistant Voice Match is not working
- I had to block its services [Hot Word] Services because it is on priority and always keep running it makes other apps mic access unavailable (including camera app in video recording) so unless it is fixed by google i decided to block this services you can enable this services yourself if you want use this app My Android Tools Go to services menu find google app tap on it & then enable it from there
Note:Any issues regarding mic not working will be negleted now
Which GCam Should I Use?
- I suggest HyperCam (Links added Below) it works flawlessly with aux lense support also i have added one config (follow this link to know how to use configs in gcam Here) use that config to get best out of this gcam, you can use it on different gcams too (Untested)

Steps are
download this selinux switch app & install
grant magisk su permissions
tap on permissive & reboot
after reboot open stock camera select portrait mode & try to take some shots (it will be bit laggy but dont worry) now open selinux app again & tap on enforcing and reboot again
after doing this steps portrait mode is working fine enforcing mode in stock mi camera app

Kindly download Settings.apk too and install just like a normal apk if not installed it will cause settings to forcestop for some weird issues to avoid it just install Settings.apk and it will be fixed
(i am willing to continue support for this rom but i have issues of server if someone willing to give it will be nice)

yes it is permissive and to be honest if you are gcam or photo geek lover i suggest do not try this or any android 10 roms for tissot gcam is kinda works but notification stucks gcam v7 works but it lags and make phone freeze but choice it up to you
other then that it is stable for daily use (p.s included camera works falwlessly tho) and 3rd party camera apps are fine too

Clean flash is always recommended which upgrading from older version of android to new one. but still u can give it a try by keeping same old data. if u faced any issue by doing this.. then go for clean flash.

I had the same problem at first. I managed to get it working by switching to "OrangeFox" recovery (from PitchBlack), using the version here:

... then tapping the menu button on the far right:
then "manage partitions", "vendor" then "" and "Resize FS", swipe and back
then "manage partitions", "system" then "" and "Resize FS", swipe and back
(This might not have been needed but there were similar instructions for Evolution X 4.6.)
Then select "mount" from the menu screen, check "System" and "vendor", then press back
... then finally the folder for files, selecting the "FPC+Fix" zip, and swiping it to install with none of the options checked.
After that the zip It's entirely possible there's an easy way to do that with PitchBlack as well and I just missed it, but that's what finally worked for me. Hope it helps.!

No, however clean install is recommended.
fingerprint issue
I flashed the ROM and it's working good but I have a problem with the fingerprint. I installed FPC fix but I'm not able to unlock the phone with a fingerprint, it always wants me to enter the pattern. Although the fingerprint is working well for WhatsApp.

No call recording options. But u can use Boldbeast which is working fine for me.
