Just decided to move from nougat to Oreo and now I am getting nasty white notifications.
I come from custom ROMs so I had the options to change the colour of everything but with crappy stock I have no real control over what my phone looks like which sucks
Has anyone found a way to colour the white notifications to some darker colours?
Look up theme galaxy in playstore make sure to thank the dev.....its the best theming engine I've seen no root lol
Try digging around in the following thread. I haven't kept up with it but I have seen for Oreo what you are looking for.

I'm so excited by all the great developer work to get us cm ROMs and wanted to try to contribute the best i can : ) (which isn't much)
Using the new CM ROMs I tried a metamorph by Cloverdale and loved it but thought, "Wouldn't it be cool to have android themed in both the newer Radiance and Ambiance?!"
Well I think so......so
These are a couple screenshots of the little work I've done so far(work not even worthy of being called work being as most of what's done could even be called copying).
The reason theres only two screenies is simply because the theme is FAR from done and in most use doesn't look very uniform. I'm VERY new to this and hardly even understand what I'm doing, or how I'm doing it lol
In fact the only reason I'm even posting this is because I'm self indulgent and want to see if anyone else likes this idea : )
Serious Props go to the developers that made cm available to us eris users (forgive me for not listing you all, just pm me if you want your name here ) Cloverdale for giving me the idea and to Stericson for giving me the tools to make it happen
I like light themes better so I'm staring with radiance but if i find out I don't suck, and can finish something like this, and people want it. I reckon ill try ambiance next. But first things first.
Edit:
Oh and if anyone has any advice they think may help me please privilege me with the information.
Use
sory for the double post but (reserved for later use) ambiance will be organized in the second post if/when i make it.
so far so good imo
i dig the simplicity of what youve done thus far.
Is this still being worked on? Not many themes with white status bars. Getting tired of the regular elixir by Cloverdale, I'll definitely flash this if you ever finish it.
I like it so far, too. I've been dying to MM some new themes to my phone and I think this would be great once finished!
Would love the Ambiance theme.
I notice that the volume icon is red, I would probably prefer the stock Ubuntu style which is to just keep it the same colour even when muted (at least on Ambiance). The battery too (although I think it does turn red like that when low, just isn't green when full).
Also the purple wallpaper but thats easy to add and the carrier name too that in the new CMs the text colour can be customized.
that looks great. very smooth and simple.
I love it! So simple and smooth. Can't wait till it's finished!
update
I'm glad to see theres some interest, I've progressed a little but been a bit busy lately.
The biggest things slowing me down is not knowing what all the pngs do, I've been changing them one at a time to bright purple then playing a short game of "Wheres Waldo" , and Ive no clue how to change text colors other than what spare parts will do. I've done a little googling ect but cant seem to find much on it - well...that i can understand - if anyone knows anything or of someplace that could help a newbie, I could use the help : )
Especially on the changing text and bg colors of like sms app, and dialer, in call screen, settings really everything, I want to make sure everything is uniform throughout.
Anyway mostly just making sure yall knew I'm still working on it, I hope to let out a half done version for everyone to play with soon.

Yea I can change the silent icon to black if everyone likes it better and the battery is black other than when its low. and i think I'm gonna try to resize all the Ubuntu wallpapers add them to the default android ones.
your changing the colors to purple? :-(
I was wondering if anybody heard of a black theme for lollipop similar to the lovely nexus5 theme found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/theme-t2939926
Even better if a black lollipop option was to be included as stock by google, but this might be like asking the moon
Damn, that's gorgeous!
I've been hoping for a dark theme for a while. I'd gladly contribute funds to someone who's got the ability to make that theme for the X..
Google needs to take note, that is exactly how the stock OS should look. Or at a bare minimum have an option to switch to that.
Liquid Smooth ROM has the same BO settings and some apps (google messenger and dialer/contacts) hopefully they will developed it for the Moto X soon. I'm running it on my Nexus 6 and its great, it would look good on the Moto X too
I can't stand the white background in Lollipop, so I have switched to the Nova Launcher until there are themes to work with.
The settings background is still white.
Apex has the option for dark app card back ground
I use a dark theme on the Lollipop ROM that I'm running on my N5 (secondary via MultiROM) and it does make Lollipop much more palatable. I still prefer Kit Kat though and am still on 4.4.4 on my Moto X and as my main ROM on my N5.
It is interesting because they have dark settings in the Clock app but only at night it seems. Throughout the day, when I go into the clock app, it changes colors. At night last night I noticed it went dark and when I went into the settings, it was dark as well. So it is weird they would design the dark settings for just that one app, and not think or include it for the rest of the apps.
Maybe those lucky enough to have root can check out the clock settings to see whats being called to show the dark settings and use that knowledge to change the rest. Then again I am not a coder or developer so I have no idea if that would work.
Hi!
I'm looking for a default (stock) theme for my s6 (I actually love the default icons), but with darker colours, i.e. not the white/orange combination for the dialer/settings etc., but something a bit more Amoled friendly. Can anyone help?
I use Zero Dark.
The most amoled friendly which I found is Octane X. However, it has Aosp icons.
Update: Octane X doesn't has default icons, don't know why I thought it's Aosp
I gave Zero Dark a try (it was my first choice), couldn't live with the icons...
I'm going to try Sooty - icons look very close to stock, but I have my doubts about the colour scheme...
if u have root u can enter /data/app and delete {author name}.theme.{theme name}.appicon-1
Unfortunately I don't... Brand new phone, I don't want to lose my warranty... It's actually my first ever unrooted phone, and the experience is quite painful.
Would it be possible to write an app to do just that or would it need root access as well?

Try the Rotox theme or material dark/black
Checked out both of them. Same problem - icons are horrid...
Dear all,
I have a quite some problems with my eyes when reading text on white background. I am a beginner when it comes to Android 'enhancements', but I read that changing the ROM might allow me to install apps which replace the white background with a darker colour / make it more eye friendly. I was wondering whether some of the other users here have found a solution for this/can recommend me the necessary steps to take. Many thanks!

hi, you mentioned reading text on white background ..
Things you can do with out installing new Rom and with out Rooting
1) Change LAUNCHER, and make the colors look inversed ( Nova night mode ) ( adw beta launcher )
2) install Yellow filter ( night adjustment app, you can find them in playstore )
try these .. if they are not satisfactory,
you Root your device .. install xposed installer and search for the modules which you like to try,( i havent tried,so i cannot say which one will be useful to you.. wait till others reply on your thread )
other alternative would be depending on your taste
1) if you want to stay stock , but enjoy dark modes - go ahead and install Marshmallow Optimized, then install Layers from playstore and download those Layers themes ..
2) if you want to go away from motorola roms, then there are plenty of Roms.. i myself would like Cm13 ( as it got better performance and gaming, but battery consumption isnt best ) but you can get good support for Cm13 , then install CM13 themes from playstore which looks more pleasing to you
Finally , before doing all these.. once check on youtube about Cm13 themes, Layers themes, xposed modules for immersive experience --- so you will get an idea on them..
my post might not help you full, but if it gave you an idea what you must do .. give me a thanks
Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a way to get a stock Android/Pixel like looking notification and quick setting panel/menu for EMUI 9.1 (I just like its simple icon style and the darker background compared to the particularized bright EMUI appearance).
Something like that is what I'm looking for.
I already found some information on launchers etc., but it doesn't seem to affect the panel in the top:
https://blog.en.uptodown.com/simulate-android-stock-huawei-emui
https://theunlockr.com/huawei-p20-stock-android/
This XDA icon pack does not seem to yield the desired results either (regular app icons are changing, not the top panel though).
Thanks for some info
The only way is to use PowerShade.
It creates an overlay on top of the stock notification panel.

We have to wait untill EUMI 9.1 themes will be available. 9.0/9.0.1 themes are not compatible.

Alright, I tried these kind of apps now and it doesn't really seem to be of any convenience. A lot of system permissions have to be set and then it only works for the drop down menu, but not the actual notification panel at the top.
Thanks though!

Sorry but this is all new to me. You mean we just have to wait until a custom made Android-like looking theme pops up in huawei's theme gallery?
I'm not sure if this is what you're after, but I really like this theme, and it gives dark notifications and volume slider...

Yes, right. There is no other way to change it. Some custom themes compatible with emui 9.1 are already on line.
