We will need eng kernel before that happens. I'm sure it will be doable in the future, not now though.
Edit.....looks like note 8 could be different than the s8...

Flash to all and all to flash...no prob
So if I flash AT&T firmware on Tmobile Note 8, it should work fine on AT&T since there's no Tmobile Unlock App in it? Right?
Just bought a Tmobile Note 8 and am trying to make it run on AT&T

Yes...if you look into the s8+ forum for carrier switch there is a guide that should also work for note 8...the main focus is to change the csc...however, you may just be able to flash the ATT firmware and it work when you put in the ATT SIM. It may be better to flash the unlocked firmware first...and then to att...but to get the device to be csc ATT, instead of ATT, ATT, TMB, You may have to follow the S8+ guide...
So try the easiest first, flash ATT...If activation does not work, flash Unlocked then ATT, if that is no good...follow the S8+ guide with Canadian firmware to change csc code of device to ATT...you might pm the op of the S8+ guide about what Canadian firmware to flash to change the csc...I am going to make a guide for us when I have a chance to test it myself...if just flashing to AT&T works...awesome, good luck
Oh yeah...the device must be unlocked first to change carriers...you can get it unlocked by T mobile or by paying for it
Hello
Currently I have US unlocked note 8 and using Telus which is one of Canadian carriers.
Unfortunately Volte is not available for US unlocked note 8 probably due to different CSC country code.
If I flash firmware for Canadian will I fully be able to use carrier specific features?
Is there any guide for this ?
Thanks for reading.

Hey! I have kind of a similar issue. i bought my s8 from Canada (service provider : bell). When i moved back to India, i needed region specific apps like SPay to work. Then i could manage to change CSC code from BMC (Bell) to XAC (Canada unlocked). However, i need to change it to INS. I downloaded Indian s8 firmware. But i am not sure if i can flash HOME_CSC using Odin as my S8 is a snapdragon variant(obviously) and I'm really worried if it would brick my device. Or if i would not receive OTA's (Because ONE UI is all I'm looking for) . Please guide me here.

Hi Everyone,
I've searched and could not find a clear answer, and am hoping someone can help.
I just purchased a US Samsung Note 8 (SM-950U1), my question is, is it possible for me to install the G955W (Canadian) firmware on this device?
For Canadian users is anyone currently using a US Note 8 (SM-950U1) Factory unlocked?
Thanks.
Made a typo I meant can I flash SM-N950W Canadian firmware to a SM-950U1 Factory unlocked Note 8
Thanks,

not yet, North American models are all Snapdragon with locked bootloaders. If someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader then you could get a flashable zip version of a Canadian ROM and use that but as far as I've seen nobody has been able to do much with the Snapdragon variants yet.
I have been reading the s8 plus thread where users have flashed the s8 plus Canadian (sm-g955w) firmware to the Us s8 plus (sm-g955u) is it not the same process?
Thanks for your help

If you follow the s8 + guide...if available it would be the same for u...I am working on a guide for carrier switching but it is for U.S. snapdragon models...but it uses the Canadian XAC home_csc...I say pm the poster of the s8+ that you mentioned for details and then flash at your own risk....you can always flash back to your original....before you do, though, insert your Canadian carrier SIM and see if you can activate it...when I was testing the carrier switch there were options to change to Canadian csc's....good luck
Any update? I also bought my note 8 from USA. With the US firmware, we do not have access to certain features like VOLTE or caller ID and spam protection.
Check out blue fox's thread. I just flashed US firmware on a Canadian unlocked XAA device(not sim locked to Rodgers, bell etc). long as your flashing stock Samsung firmware, youll be fine. The Canadian and US Note 8 phones are basically the same.

Hi all,
I bought my Galaxy Note 9 mainly for Samsung Pay and just realized that there is a regional lock for Samsung Pay. (I don't care about other things like VoLTE or Wifi Calling).
My Note 9 is SM-N9600 and the CSC is TGY (Hong Kong).
I wonder whether there are any ways to change the CSC from Hong Kong to USA so that I can use Samsung Pay in US?
I have read lots of posts in this forum, but got no luck. There are some related threads:
for S8/S8+: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/guide-changing-csc-s8-s8-root-t3799045
for N960FD: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/how-to/note-9-n960fd-dual-sim-csc-change-oxm-t3841000
same question but no answer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/help/changing-csc-to-u1-usas-samsung-pay-t3801639
My understanding is that:
- To change the CSC (especially from SM-N9600 to SM-N960U), we must reflash the firmware.
- SM-N9600 does not have any firmware having USA CSCs.
- We can get the USA CSCs from N960U and put it into the firmware of N9600, and then flash it.
- However, the modified firmware will trigger Knox and hence make Samsung Pay unusable.
Are there any suggestions or tutorials on this?
For example, will applying the firmware of SM-N960U on SM-N9600 work?
Thanks!

You cant cross flash firmware from different device versions...ie N9600 vs N960... not happening.
Those of use who have the exynos version can flash US CSC files via twrp. I would think the same would be possible for the N9600.
I search the note 9 forums for the exynos method and go from there even though im not sure if just changing csc will allow sammy pay to work

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I don't think cross-flashing will work either.
My SM-N9600 uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon, not Exynos.
Another thought is that I checked the firmware for SM-N9600, and found there is a version for Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico is listed in the US's Samsung Pay Reward program.
I wonder whether I will be able to safely flash it, and use the Samsung Pay.

If you have an N9600 then yes you can flash any N9600 firmware. Whether or not pay works I cant say sorry
Probably you can try flash HK firmware but with US CSC?
But not 100% sure...
Did you try add adding the card? You would miss out on Samsung Rewards but it should work, myself and some other I have read about just added the card to Samsung Pay and it did work, it does for me. I just can't use and claim the rewards points.

Thanks! I think it may work.
However, what I want is the Samsung Rewards...
I heard a rumor that flashing the Mexico firmware and putting in a Mexican Sim card (off ebay) in before booting up would get Samsung Pay to work.
I want to test it, but I don't have a phone to test with
I have n9600 and have Samsung pay working is US. Just used appbackup and archived Samsung pay framework and Samsung pay from my TMo Note 8 and installed it on the Note9. Have TMo SIM and works fine. Now only if I can figure out a way to get wifi calling working.....

- What is appbackup and how can I use it to archive and restore the backuped apps?
Thanks.

I was able to install the US Saumsung Pay and log in. However, the home tab says that "You're offline".
Let me explain what I did:
- I downloaded App Backup Lite on my previous US S8 and then backed up Samsung Framework and Samsung Pay.
- I reset my Note 9 without installing Samsung Pay.
- I installed the backup Samsung Framework and Samsung Pay.
- When I installed Samsung Framework, the system said that "I upgraded the installed Samsung Framework".
- When I installed Samsung Pay, the system said that "I installed it".
- I opened Samsung Pay and logged in. The home page shows "You're offline", but the other pages look ok.
- I went into the setting in Samsung Pay and reset the app. However, it did not fix the problem.

I think this requires rooting the phone, which trips Knox and disables Samsung Pay.
I have heard about that you can use the SM-N9600 firmware but replace the CSC file from SM-N960U. Someone claims that he successfully did this on his note 7. However, I noticed that after S8, Samsung updates their bootloader and this way may brick the phone. Any idea?
The specs for both models are same including CPU but 960F (Asia) support DUAL sim whereas Korea only SINGLE sim.
If I odin 960F to my Korea model phone, will it still work? or probably freeze on E.g. Settings when I click Sim 2?
How about the Samsung Pay?
If firmware 960F can work, can I use Samsung Pay in Asia? or they are some in-built mechanism E.g. Knox that will prevent this?
Same question. I have a SCV38 - Japanese KDI/AU Galaxy S9. I have only Android 9, but there are a bunch of US Snapdragon Galaxy S9 based on Android 10. Can I flash this (US firm on JP phone)? I just want to get to Android 10. I have a feeling that wont work, and I checked for the S8 - US and JP phones, altough based on QC chipset had other hardware differences...
Anyway, appreciate any advice on the matter.

As long as the specs are the same you can flash any region rom. You will just have to try it yourself and see if both sims work. Google pay shouldn't have any problems. The only problem you might have is some roms have different baseband files so you might not get network connection if it's not right for your region.

Make sure in download mode you don't have RMM prenormal if you flash Android 10 and it's prenormal you will never be able to get rid of it.
