I have face unlock set up on my phone but if I want to set my alarm for example by saying 'ok Google set an alarm' the phone asks for me to show my face which isn't practical. I've looked in the settings but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone see something im missing?
Cheers
I have this problem as well. I use the Google Assistant quite a bit whilst driving, so it is really annoying that i have to then unlock the phone
Yep, same problem. 'Unlock with voice' doesn't really work. I've found this on other phones too. Be great if anyone has a solution.
Bluetooth unlock with the car set as the linked device?
Did anyone find a fix for this? It is annoying as hell.

EDIT: I have modified this post to focus more on getting google now/touchless control to stop making calls. I think this should be doable, but I'm banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how?!?
Please read my second post. However, feel free to comment on the other questions below as they are still bugging me too.
I know I talk louder than most folks. When I ran the touchless control training on my Moto X Dev Ed, I have to really talk lower than I normally do. Is there some way to adjust the mic level so I can talk normal?
Also, sometimes I have to say "ok google now" a few times to get the phone to respond, maybe once out of every 10 times this happens. Any suggestions on this?
Additionally, sometimes it will try to call a contact when the phone is locked after I say "ok google now", even though I have this option unchecked under settings->touchless controls. What gives?
I'm running a stock 4.4.2 rom that is unlocked and rooted . Touchless Controls version 4.3.11.1 and Google Search version 3.3.11.1069658.arm.
I really love the phone and bought it to control my home with my voice (which works great for the most part). Hopefully someone has suggestions on fixing these small issues.
Update: disabling all Touchless Control commands for the phone lock screen does nothing.
I went to Touchless Controls -> Comamnds while locked -> unchecked everything, but my phone still makes calls when I say "call [contact name]" and the phone is locked, along with the other commands. What a joke!?! Does Google test software before publishing it?!? I guess simple if/then logic is beyond a company to get right before releasing an app.
For Google Search I also ensured Google Search->Settings->Phone search->Contacts is unchecked. I also unchecked everything else. Google Search->Settings->Accounts & privacy->Contact recognition is also unchecked and Perosnal results is turned off. Google Search/Touchless Control still uses my contact information to make calls (without my consent) regardless of these settings too.
Allowing it to make calls would be fine if it didn't randomly misunderstand a command and try to make a call.

I cannot get control of Google search volume during a Bluetooth connection with my Jawbone.

Your bluetooth volume issue sounds crazy. You'd think Motorola's engineer's could spot such simple issues assuming they actually use their products, but I guess not. The phone is really well engineered otherwise. These types of errors might be ok for beta software, but not after many revisions.
I'm not sure when this changed. I used to be able to say "OK Google" and the assistant would interact with certain apps, like texting or calendar, when the phone was still locked. Now, as soon as I say the hot-phrase it goes straight to the pattern lock screen and won't go further until I unlock. Is this a function lost on devices without "Trusted Voice"?
I'm running the latest PN with the stock PN kernel. I'm not in beta for the Google app either.
I've tried retraining voice recognition, turning always listening off/on, updated Google app a couple times, tried different launchers (Action and Pixel)...
Any thoughts or recommendations on this?
The way I handle this is using tasker to set the screen lock delay to some thing silly like 10 days when the phone is in a "safe" location. Then the ok google works as expected with the screen off. The rest of the time I live with the fact that I have to unlock the phone to use ok google.
On reflection, smart lock should give the same effect of there is a trusted device connected.
I've considered something like what you've said. I do want the security to work though. I used to be able to do very basic things by voice without unlocking. I don't want to effectively turn off security.
Hello,
As the title says, I get the pop-up attached to this post each time I use the fingerprint to unlock my device. It appeared one hour after I installed an app called light flow. It doesn't happen when I unlock it with my pin, it only happens with my fingerprint AND when my WiFi is off. I Did a virus scan and of course it came up with nothing. I need help cause it is annoying the hell out of me.
Thanks.
Ok so I came across this:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/g...8-annoying-wifi-scanning-popup-wont-stop.html
Which basically says that disabling WiFi+ will work until Huawei and Google fix the Google play services bug.
Thanks for nothing:highfive:
Anybody else having this problem.
I even disabled Samsung Pay and Edge to see if it would help but nothing seems to help.
The basic issue is that I want my phone to be locked but not when its at home.
So I setup the location for home and said do not lock when in this area.
That did not work. It still wants to do a biometric scan even when I am at home.
So yesterday I got my near Gear Watch and finally thought here is a solution as long as the phone and watch are in bluetooth range do not lock my phone.
It still continues to lock.
I could be doing something stupid or wrong here but for the life of me cant figure it out.
XDA is my last stop looking for help.
Same thing happened to me it was because I had multiple accounts. You need to set the Smart Lock on all the accounts.

I have a Note 9 and Gear S3 Smartwatch.
I have it enabled in Smart Lock options
(together with a few other options eg
my Polar M400 watch, car radio, Bluetooth headset
and location etc)
I have lockscreen set to Fingerprint unlock /pin
All my options in Smart lock works
100 %, no issues except locations.
(i really don't need , but did so
to enable locations, anyway )
I also noticed other members have issues with Smart lock /Location to work.
Smart lock works so well that i sometimes
nearly forget that i have lockscreen enabled!
So what I'm saying is that Smart lock
should work flawlessly with your Gear Watch?
if you enabled it in Device /Setting /
See screenshots.
I never had success with, location service, the smart lock in the settings but no issue with it in Samsung's good lock 2018-routines-safelock.
Thanks for confirming GPS based unlock does not work.
Where you screen shot shows Password and Fingerprint mine shows.
Pin, Intelligent Scan, Fingerprint. Maybe i need to turn off Intelligent scan.
I 7se Google Maps daily on the S10. But if the screen goes off it stops giving directions and I have to hit Start again and resume. Only way it stays on is if I start the trip and physically hold the phone and not let the screen lock. Anyone else? Never had this issue with any other phone, Galaxy or otherwise.
I have the same issue. I use Automate to automatically turn AOD on and off based on received notification. I originally thought it causes this problem. Unfortunately, I can´t proove it because I needed to drive and hadn´t time to play with the phone. Just an idea to consider.
Edit: maybe it is Google maps bug. Have you tried uninstalling app updates?
Might have to do just that. But it does seems like a Maps bug, yet it was fine on my Note 8, and the iPhone X before that. So idk if it's Maps or a software bug with the S10. Normally I just tap "start" and then immediately click the lock/wake button and set the phone down and it sends the directions through the car or headset.
Verizon variant here by the way 100% stock.
Try to prevent the phone to set the Maps app to sleep. I had a similar thing with the old version of Maps (V6 which I still use).
Just search for 'Sleeping Apps' in your settings
