There is already a thread regarding this in the real review life section of the forum

Hi Note 5 XDA Community ,
I'm currently using a Galaxy S3 and is thinking about upgrading my phone in the near future.
Personally I liked the S Pen alot and the reason why I went for S3 instead of Note 2 is because Note 2 is out of stock in my country for ages few years back.
However from the battery life thread I found out that the battery life for Note 5 varies alot.
I can get 3~4 hours SOT on my S3 and on my sister's Samsung J7 she can get 8~9 hours SOT per cycle.
Battery life is really important and I understand the Note 5's specs is way out of the J7's league and also the charging speed for Note 5 is alot faster.
If you were me , which would you go for? The Note 5 is about 2.5x the price of J7 in my country with J7 being around 899MYR and Note 5 being around 2200+MYR.
No don't go

The Note8 and Note9 aren't the same phone. Hence one is called 8 and the other 9. They're physically different sizes and I can assure you the internals are different and laid out differently, as well, meaning the battery will be a different size, also.

Like Max said: Different phones, different batteries. Would be a fire hazard anyhow.
I would not mess with the phone's internals, for starters, it will no longer be water resistant, tjere is always the possibility of damaging something, the fire hazzard, etc, the best and safest way is to use a battery pack, I did that with my note 7, bouhjt an original samsung one, and it is working really fine to this very day
didnt somebody port the Note 9 battery to Note 8 lately? /s
I don't think the Note 9's battery would fit in the Note 8. As it is much larger than the battery found in the Note 8. Which is why the Note 9 is slightly larger in depth than the Note 8.
I am using pixel 2 XL and like the camera and software and getting 6 to 6.30 hours screen on time on 4G..I am thinking to switch to Note 9 but unsure about quality of camera, battery, sound, software etc. Is note 9 worth paying £200 more ? I dont use Spen much
You could always upgrade to the SGS9 rather than the Note 9 if you aren't gonna use the S-Pen. However the Note 9 does have a much larger battery than the SGS9. The Note 9 does have a very good camera setup, good sound quality. However seeing as you have come from a stock android experience. You will find that the current Samsung Experoemce UI to be quite smiliar .

In all honesty the camera performance on the Note 9 is only slightly better than that of the SGS9. Battery life should be slightly better as it has a much larger battery. Software experience will be the same as they both run on Samsung's Experience UI.

Ok thanks
I think i will order and use it few days..if happy keep it or else will return it within 14 days....samsung has powerful hardware but software is still not as fluid and lags free as Pixel , oneplus, sony etc
well as the title says i'm really curious that is it worth buying the note 5 in mid 2019 since i was in the market to buy a phone i can find s7 and note 5 to be in the same price tag and both are in good condition and (used phones both of em) i got confused which i should buy s7 or note 5 and my bet was on the note 5 until i saw both prices and i would like to hear your guys opinion that which one should i buy. ( i wanted s-pen features coming from note 3 )
The Note 5 was a great phone. The only reason I traded it in was the amazing Note 8 promotion. I found it to be every bit as fast as the S7 and the larger flat screen is much better.
The only considerations I would make:
-The Note 5 stopped getting updates at 7.0 Nougat whereas the S7 got 8.0 Oreo.
-The Note 5 does not have Always on Display and would require a third party app for this feature where it's built into the S7
-The S7 has water resistance, the Note 5 does not.

what about xda support well i was gonna buy note 8 but since it's still have 1000$ tag in my country rip :x so i thought note 5 would be a good choice but s7 was available to and have you rooted your note 5 with any Samsung experience rom along with Gcam ? The S7 has water resistance, about this i think i should be cautious since im buying a refurbished phone

the note 5 is still a pretty solid phone and if you install a good rom you can get aod and other features too, but the development is pretty much dead, so I'd go for the s7 edge. It has a better low light camera and the xda support is comparatively better too. Also not to mention expandable storage. Have both currently and if you dont need the s pen that much the s7 edge is a better choice.
