Looking for All in One Toolkit to Root HTC One M7 - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am a complete newbie when it comes to rooting phones and stuff. I have been going through the tutorials and the toolkits that have been posted here years ago. However, when I click on "install HTC drivers" the program doesn't do anything...
Are there current and working All in One Toolkits to root my HTC One M7? Would be highly highly appreciated.

I would recommend you to do it without using any toolkit. There are all outdated anyway and doing it the right way is only 3 steps:
Unlock your bootloader
Flash twrp recovery
Install the latest supersu.zip using twrp recovery

Sounds good but how do I do it exactly? is there a step by step tutorial that I can "blindly" follow?

Just make sure to use the latest twrp recovery and supersu.zip, not the versions instructed in the videos.

I am stuck at the bootloader unlocking stage where I download the fastboot.exe on the desktop and run it within cmd.exe
But it does virtually nothing. The bootloader zip from htcdev contained just the bootloader.exe whereas in the video tutorial it comes with a DLL and another file.
I specified the HTC One M7 as this is the phone that I am currently working with and want to root.
What am I missing, what am I doing wrong?

You can use minimal adb and fastboot
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
This will install the correct files (adb.exe fastboot.exe and their dll) and create a shortcut to launch a termimal window from the correct folder (start menu --> program ---> minimal adb and fastboot --> minimal adb and fastboot.exe
Then continue with step 5 from htcdev.com/bootloader
When you'll get your Unlock_code.bin file, don't forget to save it in the same folder where minimal adb and fastboot is installed on your computer (by default C:\minimal adb and fastboot\)

Fantastic, thank you, I was able to unlock the bootloader. Now I am off to the second video to actually root my phone now. Will let you guys know how it goes!

The problem now is that in the thread that the said root video's thread is now different. There is not the root "SuperSU" file in it anymore, what to do? I either need to find the supersu root files or I need a different tutorial. Sorry for the noobish questions I am just scared to break my phone so I need to make sure to follow the steps closely and not improvise stuff
Edit: I did it and I finally got the hang of it.
1. I unlocked the bootloader
2. I installed the twrp ROM for my HTC One M7
3. I downloaded the newest supersu zip from the original supersu site and put that into my internal storage
4. I entered into the recovery mode and picked "install" and chose the supersu zip
Thanks for your help guys

Do you have the international HTC One? Are you on 2.24.401.1? you will have to flash the stock recovery then install the missing apps that were lost during the wipe after unlocking the bootloader (such as the calculator, voice recorder etc) and then do the OTA update, I can give you a step by step guide if you answer the above questions

Okay lets start!
1) Download this file http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/HTCOne/root/HTCOneRoot.zip (you should already have this for unlocking the bootloader but just to make sure!)
2) Download the recovery https://cloudpt.pt/link/1a23ccce-547e-4b3c-a38c-4a798c462aff/Flash_recovery_2.24.401.1.rar
3) Download these files https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzXWB5B2uUs7R2hjQnN3NFFNNVk/edit
4) Extract the zip file you downloaded in step 3 (if it needs extraction) and copy all the apk's to your phone and install all of them.
5) Extract the zip file you downloaded in step 1 and you will get a folder that contains HTCDriver_4.1.0.001.exe (it should already be installed because your rooted your htc one but if its not --> install it).
6) Extract the file you downloaded in step 2, you will get a folder named fastboot, enter this folder and copy recovery.img to the previously extracted folder in step 5.
7) Turn your phone off and boot into the bootloader (power button + volume down) then select fastboot and connect your phone to your computer.
8) Open the previously extracted folder (in step 5) that contains the recovery.img and press and hold shift and while holding shift, press right click on your mouse and select "open command window here".
9) Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" without the quotes and now you should have the stock recovery.
10) Bootup your phone install the OTA update and it should install successfully and after it finishes you can flash TWRP or CWM using the same method above.
***This is assuming you have the stock odexed ROM, if you have installed a custom ROM, download the stock ROM and install it using your current recovery before proceeding with the above instructions.
And sorry because its a really long post

Well there is but the rom is just a small part of an update, there is the radio, hboot, recovery etc.. if you just flash the rom your not updating the other stuff but if you do the ota you will update all of these, but since this is a minor update, I dont think these got updated so you can flash the rom for now and when the 4.3 update rolls out you can do the above method to get everything updated!

Need Help Unbrick My HTC One M7

My HTC One M7 is stuck at HTC logo and will not boot further. I've tried many methods, but cannot repair the phone. It's M7 Europe HTC_001 Firmware 1.29.401.13.
With bootloader unlocked I flash cwm recovery and tried to copy custom rom to flash but phone cannot mount usb storage. I tried to flash stock RUU 1.28.401.7, it won't flash because of hboot error. I tried to flash PN07IMG_1.29.401.13.zip using fastboot flash zip. firmware.;zip, with locked or unlocked bootloader, it won't flash, giving error.
Is there any full RUU 1.29.401.17 or RUU 2.17.401.1 firmware out there for download? I think that's my only solution is to get the same or higher full and not OTA firmware. Would it be possible to ADB push custom rom to phone if it can only power and stuck at logo? Or any other solution, please help, thanks.

Thanks for your help but I've tried all that. First phone cannot "mount USB storage" in custom recovery so I cannot copy any file to the phone. Flashing stock RUU is not possible because there is no RUU 1.29.401.13.exe or higher, only OTA. Is it possible to downgrade hboot with s-on and in fastboot mode? Any other suggestion? Thanks.

Try ADB push/sideload: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325853&highlight=sideload
FIX
Hi, I was having the same problem, NOTHING was working, ADB Sideload failing, etc. and the OTG cable arrives tomorrow...my way to fix it?
1.- Went to TWRP Recovery
2.- Wipe>Advance Wipe> Wiped everything
3.- Format Data (option next to Advance Wipe)
4.- Reboot into Recovery(during reboot it said "your device is not rooted, want to root?) Marked yes.
5.- Advance Adb Sideload
6.- Sent CyanogenMod ROM...BANG! worked.
Hope this helps
I've tried to use adb push method but when I put phone to recovery (phone shows red triangle) and run command adb devices, it cannot see the device. Is it because of the drivers? I've installed all drivers and do not see any drivers error in device manager...I really appreciate all the helps from everyone and I spent so much time trying to fix this phone already and I feel I'm so closed now to fix it but just need little more help..Thanks..

Thanks for your tips and advice..After many hours of trying, my phone is NOW ALIVE. This is how I did it:
1)Find a custom rom from this forum and rename to rom.zip, of course if you use windows like me with .zip extension hidden then just simply rename it rom (to make it simple and short) and copy it to adb shell folder.
2)After unlock bootloader, flash a custom recovery, find it in this forum or here: http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
3) Boot phone to recovery, and select Install zip from sideload and plug phone to PC. Wait until phone installs all adb drivers..
4) In adb shell type command: "adb devices" without quotes, of course..to make sure adb sees your phone..You should see your devices name.
5) In adb type commad" adb sideload rom.zip..at this point you should see "sending: sideload....1%..wait until it show 100%..some roms like the one I used, Android Revolution HD One 12 (4.2.2) need to install from the screen, just follow instruction on screen and let it finish installation and wola, it's alive again..
I hope this will help someone who have similar problem with this phone. Thanks for the help from everyone.

Please tell me if I can follow these video tutorials to root my One even thou I am running newer software and if not which rooting procedure do you recomend for me?

If you are 100% stock at the moment then wait for the Lollipop update which should come to your phone very very soon, because once you root, the update will fail, due to unlocking the bootloader which resets the phone and also deletes the data / preload folder required to update.
However to root, just unlock your bootloader at HTCDev, during the process it will give you sone ADB and fastboot files, keep these, you will need them, then flash TWRP recovery, enter recovery, exit recovery, it will ask you if you want to root before exiting, say yes, when the phone reboots, open SuperSU to update your binary, done.
Thanks!
One more question. Do I have to toggle S-ON to S-Off if i Want to install costum ROMs and kernel?

no, and never toggle, s-off costs $25 using sunshine s-off tool, and if you decide to go that way, never ever s-on again unless for waranty purposes.

Unlock your bootloader: follow instructions from htcdev.com/bootloader
Flash TWRP recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery <filename>.zip
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then boot in TWRP and flash the latest supersu zip from TWRP recovery
the twrp recovery downloads as a .img file

am I using the correct download, the
C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.0.2-m7.img
error: cannot load 'twrp-3.0.0.2-m7.img'

the twrp file (yes its a .img file) must be in the same folder where you have adb.exe and fastboot.exe installed on your computer.
"Error: cannot load" = I can't (fastboot) find the file you're talking about
most probable causes:
File not in the right folder
Typo in the file name
I have been distracted..... it has flashed the twrp img file.

As long as you have your adb and fastboot tools installed on your computer, as well as the drivers you need for the moto g2, the steps are the same for both windows and Linux. To root:
1. Flash twrp version 3.0.0.0
Download the file, place in your fastboot folder, and then open a command window in that folder. Type : fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
2. Using TWRP, install SuperSU v2.62 only.
3. (Optional)Boot your rom up and update SuperSU to version 2.65 using the play store.
That's all you need to get root access.

1. You do not need a modified boot image, SuperSU will modify the boot image for you.
2. I answered your question because I've done the above hundreds of times before.
3. I do realise that I'm replying many months later than when you posted, but XDA only informed me of your reply just now.

Which Root to use?

So, I have decided on rooting my Xperia Z3 Compact so that I can finally move OBB to SD card, however I have no knowledge of how roots work (not a programmer much), or which one to pick. I have seen quite a few options for different roots, and previously used Kingo root, but seeing the post about it I am avoiding it like a forest fire. Anyone got good suggestions on which one to pick for my Xperia z3 compact?
In modern Android the phone's security systems prevent rooting via one click apps unless the device is unlocked. The best/safest way to root is to flash custom recovery such as TWRP and then install SuperSU.zip from TWRP. Make sure you make a backup first just in case.
You will most likely have to unlock your bootloader before you can flash TWRP. SONY devices are usually pretty Dev friendly, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding everything you need. Good luck.

Your phone has a recovery. When you bought it, it came with the factory (or stock) recovery. Stock recoveries will only let you flash certain signed zip files and not all (for example - your ota updates). So you need to shift to a custom recovery that will let you flash any file you want. Custom recoveries are device specific. Search how to flash it in your phone. Common ones are - TWRP, cwm, philz.
Once you have your new recovery set up, you are ready to root it. All you have to do is use the recovery to flash the supersu file (i recommend chainfire). If you have twrp installed, the flashable su file is a part of it, and it will guide you.
Reboot after done, and supersu will prompt you to update your su binaries, done. you are all set. Dont forget to unlock the bootloader.
Your warranty will be void unless you revert all changes. Not at all complicated, you do it once and get the hang of it.
A short note on flashing: Flashing is replacing (or installing) certain system files. You can tweak your system in any way you like (overclocking, changing animations, installing apps or scripts, changing the os, etcetera ). Just make sure the zips you flash are compatible.

Chainfire made the root strategy. There are various strategies. Supersu is by chainfire. To change your recovery from stock to custom, you need to unlock the bootloader. It protects the current system by not letting unauthorized files overwrite or execute their scripts.
Not unlocking bootloader and flashing may lead to a brick. So
download platform-tools by google. (adb)
Extract it. Say at C:\
Now install drivers for your phone
open cmd and navigate to the folder where you extracted platform tools. Follow the code.
Enable usb debugging from developer options
Code:
cd C:\platform-tools
adb devices
a device and some number should show up with an online status
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
again, a device and number should show
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
if it says success, bootloader is unlocked.
download a recovery.img specific to your phone. rename it to say twrp.img and place it in the same folder as platform tools.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot twrp.img
the recovery will boot. this is a temporary boot and will wipe off on a reboot. Flash your supersu zip to root.
That's all. You have a rooted phone with an unlocked bootloader.
That is the maximum anyone would describe for you. Still confused, please do some research.
Hit thanks if i helped.

download platform-tools by google. (adb)
Extract it. Say at C:\
Now install drivers for your phone
open cmd and navigate to the folder where you extracted platform tools. Follow the code.
Enable usb debugging from developer options
Code:
cd C:\platform-tools
adb devices
a device and some number should show up with an online status
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
again, a device and number should show
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
if it says success, bootloader is unlocked.
download a recovery.img specific to your phone. rename it to say twrp.img and place it in the same folder as platform tools.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot twrp.img
the recovery will boot. this is a temporary boot and will wipe off on a reboot. Flash your supersu zip to root.
That's all. You have a rooted phone with an unlocked bootloader.
That is the mazimum anyone would describe for you. Still confused, please do some research.

Thanks. Tho I am sure once I get hands on to it, I will know what to do. Can't wait to move those damned OBB Xd
Just be aware that by unlocking the bootloader you are going to lose camera quality. That's because the keys for image processing are deleted. I think it's only noticeable in low light situations, but still important to know, because once lost those keys will never come back. Therefore I'd rather recommend this rooting method:

You wouldn't have bricked your phone
If you followed instructions on their site and contacted them, like unlocking htc bootloader, congratulations, your warranty is officially void.
If you didn't contact them in any wau or uploaded your phone's mac/imei, if you re lock, warranty valid again.

At least I did this the safe way. Oh well, I never send my phones for repairs as the repairs are always overpriced, my dad fixes everything himself if actually fixable XD.
But my root issue still remains!
