I've just realised that stereo+ feature (Settings/sound) "switches off" as soon as the screen turns off. It is a useful option when listening music indeed. Normally, I put down my phone horizontally into a holder while listening music, but it becomes useless when the screen is turned off. How ridiculous. What's wrong with huawei's software engineers?? Also the Bluetooth volume is a joke as well as the lack of a proper equaliser. Without an attached headphone the eq cannot be used.... Really annoying and I hope it will be resolved by the next software update. (along with the lot of minor bugs/issues)

That's crazy, I do alot of listening with no screen on.
Mine doesn't do that when the screen goes off when listening using Spotify.

Anyone have any info on this?
My old Orbit2 used to continue to play music through HTC Audio Player as well as Windows Media Player however now if I tap the power button to put device into sleep mode the music pauses.
Anyone have any suggestions/fixes for this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Not sure of Orbit as I do not own one.
But all the WinMo device I have are behaving the way you describe in TD2.
There is apps inside or 3rd party which you can just switch the display off (not the power off), So the device is not off but the display off can save you a lot of battery.
Yeah, I got an app touchlock pro that turns the display off.
Just a bit annoying that I had the problem on the orbit 1, was fixed on the orbit 2 and now the problem is back on the topaz.
Still its a minor thing I suppose - Rest of the functionality seems great so far
Just a little update on this if anyone was interested.
Upon further experimentation I have discovered that i using my bluetooth headset for music playback i can now lock the phone by holding down the end call key and then press the power button to turn the display off whilst maintaing music playback.
Not sure if this works when using a wired headset but it did not seem to work just playing out of the speaker minus the headset.
My D2 continues to play music with the screen off using both coreplayer and windows media player.
EDIT: I thought I would double check - strange, today it stops the music! I know for a fact the other night I was listening to music and the screen was (almost) definitely off. I will investigate further.
EDIT2: I thought further and I know it was playing music with the screen off. I know this because I was happy that the volume buttons still worked.
I just did some checking.
When the headphones are plugged in the music continues playing when you turn off the screen and the volume buttons continue to adjust the volume.
Without the headphones plugged in the music stops when you turn off the screen.
Thanks for that, not actually used the wired headset before but what you have said is correct. it is a shame the same method for bluetooth stereo wasnt implemented or perhaps its just my bluetooth headset. looks like might have to get the wired headset out for a bit.
Hey, is there a way to skip songs with the headset we got?
i never noticed this until today.... how annoying, i just finished loading up my new microSD.
If anyone has a fix for this, please post
Thanks!
Mine appears to be fixed now when using my bluetooth headset or the wired headset But still stops if playing through the phone speaker.
I use a Jabra BT8010 bluetooth headset, and the music continues to play after pressing the power button. The music is shut off if playing through the phones speaker....this is the same as my previous phone (htc TYTN II)
OK, I have an interesting issue going on with the way my stereo speakers are working.
Only the bottom speaker will work unless I plug in and unplug headphones, then they both will work. They will work in and out of any app, be it music, game, youtube, etc. BUT, once the screen is turned off and turned back on the top speaker stops working again. They both still work if they are playing while I turn the screen off, but if there is no sound and I turn the screen off, boom, only from the bottom speaker.
Now, notification sounds work from both speakers if the screen is off just fine.
I've tried 2 different roms and 2 different kernels (BadSeed and ElementalX) and nothing changes, so I'm pretty sure it's not ROM or kernel based, and the fact that it's consistent and I can "control" it tells me it's probably not hardware... so that means it has to do with root-accessible software.
Only thing that happens to me is one of the speakers will go out and then come back a sec later it's really noticeable since the volume gets really low but it doesn't happen enough to bother me

I got it. For some unknown, inexplicable reason it was a profile in Tasker causing it... I have one setup where if you put the phone face down it will shut the screen off. Well, that, for whatever reason, was causing audio to only come out of the bottom speaker. I flipped it on and off a dozen times and every time once I turn the screen off and back on audio returns to both speakers.

I've been trying to pin point this problem for a while. I've only really noticed this when connecting to my cars bluetooth, but when a song goes into a louder part, it gets quieter. If the song goes through a quiet section, it turns back up.
I'm not talking about the actual phone going through the turning up and down, it's like the software processes it and alters the volume so I can't "get my rock on"
When a song hits a bass section is a good example. The volume may be cool but if some decent bass kicks in, it'll go quieter. If the bass stops, the music will go noticeably louder.
I know it's not the stereo since my old phone and my wife's didn't do it. It's really bad at times as well, on some occasions I've had to turn it up.
I know it's not the files either. It doesn't seem to do it with headphones, and if it does it'll be a lot more subtle because I haven't been able to pick it up.
I've tried turning off the equaliser but hasn't made a difference.
Does any one else have the problem or know what it could be?

Do you have Dynamic Normalizer enabled in the sound effects? Because that is exactly what it does if on.

Thanks mate. I didn't think it was on and thought I had played around with all those settings before but had a look at it was on.
After turning it off it's improved it. I also noticed the the EQ on the stereo was set to 'Dynamic' which adjusts everything based on the music. I think this as well as having Dynamic Normaliser on amplified the problem.
I feel like a bit of a plonker now not looking at the simple things
My P20 Pro works fine with all bluetooth playback controls, except for "Play". So whenever I pause the music with my headset or in the car, I have to go on the phone to press play again. I thought that it was some power saving feature or some such, but it turns out that pressing "Next track" works perfectly, so it's only the "play" command that it ignores.
However, if I wait too long with pressing next track ("too long" being perhaps one minute) instead of resuming in the app currently in use, it will play from the stock Music app, even though I have never opened it. I also changed the "default music app" to Google Play Music, but this is completely ignored.
Happens with all apps and all bluetooth devices.
Anyone else experience the same issues? Any way to fix this? It's driving my nuts.
Same issue here, all my Bluetooth earphone control not working with poweramp

Mine works well with shuttle+(pro/paid version). My only issue is the extremely low volume level and the lack of eq(shuttle+ has built in eq, but the volume is still ****ty low)
Same issue with Spotify.

I've no issue with my Spotify and Bluetooth headphones. Mines not a headset , where the mic is included in case that makes a difference. Also is apx compatible

I have the exact same problem, for example with Audible. Think it's the AI trying to conserve battery. Hope it'll learn soon to leave it alone.
Same problem here on the Huawei P20 with both LG and Bose Bluetooth headphones.
Hello everybody,
First of all : Happy new year !
I own a Pixel 4 XL running a stock ROM with the bootloader still locked (I actually don't flash my phones anymore since I'm a team Pixel member haha). I use Android Auto very often because of my job.
Here is my problem : Since the december update (I guess) when I disconnect my phone from my car (using the cable & bluetooth), and put my phone in my pocket, the song from the last music suddenly runs very loud (max volume) even if I manually stop the music player beforehand. I tried a lot of things to stop this problem that seems very random : I cleared the YT Music cache, I disabled motion sense gestures, I even did a factory reset but the problem is still here.
I have to think every time I get out of my car to low the volume before this bug comes out..
Have you encountered that problem ? Do you guys have any idea that could help me ?
Thanks in advance !
Nobody can help me ?
I don't know, what does team Pixel say?
I don't think there is a solution and you aren't alone. I don't use YT for audio, but all music apps have the same pain in the ass behavior because they don't close automatically and most often you have to use "recents" to kill them off. This is the same with Spotify and Pandora. I find myself having to close AA itself sometimes because it stays open long after I've left the car. Sometimes 20 minutes later I look down and notice it is still running. If it can start up automatically when BT connects, or even when "hearing" driving noises like the engine, the reverse should be true. You turn the car off, unplug, exit the vehicle WHY does it continue running? Not one of the top 3 music apps will kill itself.
Thanks for answering !
I actually didn't know anyone else would have the same problem so this is reassuring me hah
Yes that is so annoying having your phone waking up with music with the volume toaximum whereas 10 minutes ago you thought you did everything to shut it up
I think I've had this happen literally once and I do use YouTube Music. Have never had it replicated. Is it still happening with the happened with the January update?

Unfortunately, yes it still happens despite the last update. The only thing that seems help me avoiding the problem is when I manually stop the music in my car before unplugging the phone. Then, for safety I put the media volume to the minimum so if the music starts again in my pocket, I won't hear it.

Interesting, so you're connected via Bluetooth to your car, turn off the ignition, and it'll still be playing? At that point, that's when my YouTube Music pauses.

Actually no. I plug my P4XL to my car through USB then it connects via Bluetooth and Android Auto runs on my car's screen. Everything work fine. When I'm arrived, I unplug my phone, turn of the ignition and the sound normally stops and YTM pauses. But something like 10 minutes later, when I'm far from the car, the last song I was playing in the car restart through the phone with absolutely no interaction on it.

I have a similar problem. I drive a lot throughout the day and Stream SiriusXM on my Phone through the BT on my work van. Very often, I get out and within an unspecified period of time, Sirius will start playing, full volume for no reason. It's as annoying as the Google Assistant suddenly responding to something I said without me using the OK Google prompt.
The fix is to close Sirius and swipe away the player controls in the status bar dropdown

Thanks for your feedback ! I don't have the Google Assistant problem you have but the exact same problem for the media. So it's not due to YT Music or Sirius. It's an overall media problem.
Unfortunately, I can't close the app because when I unplug the phone, YouTube Music isn't even open. And swiping right the player controls doesn't seem to work.
The only thing that seems to work is to stop the stream through Android Auto before turning off the engine and unplugging. But I have to think every time I leave my car

I haven't tried stopping it before I turn off the van, but that's an idea. I think when I turn off the engine, it pauses the stream on the device, sure, but what causes it to just start playing again??
TBH, that and the random dead spots around the edges of my phone since Android 11, I'm getting a little aggravated.

I absolutely don't know what causes it to start the music again. But closing it before turning off the engine and then force closing the streaming app does help. That way, the phone has nothing to turn back on
Regarding the dead spots since the update I don't have this problem... Yet. But yeah, Android 11 is one of the worst major update the past few years. Hope they will fix these problems soon.
