Why are my videos tilted 90 degrees? - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

When I take videos with my phone, I always hold my phone horizontally (like you're supposed to!), with the shutter button on the right.
But sometimes my videos come out tilted 90 degrees, and when I turn the phone to view it properly, the video keeps staying tilted at 90 degrees.
Like I said, this only happens some of the time, but I always hold my phone the same way.

Video recording 90 degrees

Hi, i was wondering if it is possible to have the camera record the video 90 degrees clockwards? because i like to film while driving and my carmount will only allow my phone to be in a straight position comfortably without the risk of the device falling out. now all my videos are 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Youm can convert those videos using special software so it would rotate it 90 degrees

Video playback orientation bug

Hey guys, Ive been experiencing an annoying bug with the HTC One. I record videos in landscape mode and then when I try to playback holding the phone in landscape mode it shows the video in portrait mode instead and when I keep my phone right side up it plays back in landscape mode so i have to tilt my my head... its super annoying
Then its' likely they weren't recorded in landscape even though you thought they were.
The camera buttons should always be oriented in your direction when recording. If they're not, then it hasn't registered that you've rotated the device (either because you turned it off or are holding it flat, etc).

Smart display

So does anyone else have this issue... when I have smart display on and put my phone in the cup holder of my car, the screen never turns off.... it thinks I'm holding the phone...
As it uses the motion sensors, this should be normal. Standing upright and moving makes it appear to be in active use.

Fairly certain the flicker is due to the LED lighting around you. Most LED lights flicker around 50-60Hz, which is more or less at 50-60 frames per second (please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not 'that' tech savvy), and what happens is your camera films at 960fps.
You get the picture.

Hi Sybryon, Thanks for replying I can agree with the flickering in slow Mo but the issue is even before clicking the slow Mo button the Flickr starts.
Here is the video where you can see the quality degraded before going for slo-mo.

This is business as usual. Nothing wrong with your phone.
The artificial lights in the room you are in are pulsing at 100Hz because the power grid in your country is running at 50Hz.
When you go in to slow motion mode, the camera goes to 720p60 (as well as adjusting the shutter speed for 720p960 operation).
Take 60 or 960 and divide it by 50 or 100 = Odd number = flicker
Take 60 or 960 and divide it by 60 or 120 = Even number = no flicker.
Options
a) Buy better lights with proper AC filtering or
b) Go outside and film in sunlight or
c) Move to a country which has a 60Hz power grid.

Almost correct.
LED's do not flicker inherently. LED's run on DC, Direct Current, which is constant.
It's the inadequate AC filtering and DC ripple filtering in their power supplies that makes them flicker.
Some LED's can even flicker visibly, especially if dimmed, while some only show their flicker if you take video of them with a framerate that doesn't match the utility frequency.
Incandescent lights flicker just as well because of AC, alternating current. Lower power ones show it more while higher power ones have a physically thicker wire filament (so they can handle the power) which just happens to also retain the heat longer and as a result flicker less. This is because when the voltage goes down the light output doesn't drop as drastically as it does with "regular" power incandescents.
CFL's can flicker also, especially the early ones or cheap ones. While modern, good quality CFL's with electronic ballasts refresh themselves somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10kHz to 40kHz which is waaaay beyond visible.

camera issue

have phone a little bit had rain drops on screen, I don't know before rain or after I don't see never happened before but I have problem when starting snapchat camera or messenger display was blue for a second after that display camera back to normal, changing cameras front to back still see blue display, even when I calling video caller still shows blue display from cameras. other phone the same issue but another phone was very wet in pocket, I wear jeans and on the phone back cover was rain drops because pocket wet very. maybe could be a problem with rain when I used phone? on Samsung phone was cracked screen and still using phone in the rain, no problem with camera. its doing with snapchat and messenger, with original camera still, instagram, tacebook. when starting camera like stock, Instagram, messenger, and others i see 1 sec blue screen than goes off
