Firmware Finder's approved firmware fails at each attempt to update - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm having a problem updating firmware from AL-AL00 8.0.0.128(SP2C00) to ALP-AL00 8.0.0.129(SP2C00) using Firmware Finder. The firmware says it is approved. I have the vpn running and when the update is completed it fails after the reboot. And I have tried the FullOTA and both OTAs but the end result is the same.

Try with HuRUpdater :

Thanks oslo83. I have now managed to update the firmware via Firmware Finder. Not really sure or understand why I wasn't able to before. Perhaps the firmware takes time to get to my region.

firmware finder usually is approved by the time the normal OTA is installing....Had the same problem, and suddenly ota said there is a new version at the same time that firmware finder wanted to install.

If you're willing to get/already have Magisk, there may be a module we can try to see if we can get it working

easy way to fix this is flash the same ota version you are using rightnow, then after flashing flash the new firmware available. happened to me before in 129 firmware. after doing the said steps 129 was installed without any error

EVA-L19C636B387 update on FIRMWARE FINDER

Hey guys.
I tried to update my P9 using firmware finder and the proxy to B387 OTA . But at the end of download it says package is unauthorized.
Anyone knows a fix.
As far as I know you have to wait for FullOTA-MF-PV to flash. Currently there are no PV-packages for B387, B388 and B390.

I somehow was able to get B386 on one particular day. My firmware was approved and all but soon after update. The B386 firmware approval for my was no more in firmware finder app. Plus there is no FullOTA-MF-PV file.
Anyways thanks for the reply :good:

Unable to install stock rom Huawei P9

Hello!
I'm currently running on EMUI 4.1.1 (EVA-L09C900B182)
I downloaded the official firmware for P9 from Huawei website, extracted the UPDATE.APP with this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454 so i could get the stock RECOVERY.img.
I placed the UPDATE.APP in a dload folder on the root of my external SDCARD
Rebooted into bootloader, flashed the stock recovery (I had TWRP).
vol+, vol- and power button togheter, it tries to install but fails (software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package.)
I tried also with huawei firmware finder app and even if it says the firmware is approved for the installation when i verify with IMEI, it fails after (I tried EVA-L09C900B386).
I tried:
- with the in-app proxy, changing my wifi proxy to localhost:8080 and using the default updater
- downloading the package and manually moving UPDATE.APP in dload on my ext sd card.
What i would like to obtain is a full stock huawei p9 phone, so i could get the official android 7 and latest firmware.
Thanks a lot!

Best is to follow this guide and debrand the phone to C432.

I did something similar and ended up with C432B242 after some update with huawei firmware finder. Now I cant reach B397.. I've tried all the intermediate steps after 242: no luck. It fails during installation. Any specific instruction?

U have to downgrade to B182 and then upgrade to B360 FullOTA-MF-PV
When u upgrade to a new Android system u must flash FullOTA-MF-PV
U could try without downgrade first, but u cant upgrade to B397 because its not signed yet by Huawei, B395 ist the latest approved Firmware.

From b182 OTAs will lead up to b395.
b397 OTA is expected any day, meanwhile it can be forced (as well as the newer b398) from b395 by using no-check recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/eva-nocheck-recovery-flash-unapproved-t3705125
Update:
I reinstalled from b136 => b166 => b182
After that i tried b378 but now my build number is NRD90M test-keys
Will start again from b136 trying something different.

What country/region are you from?
What is the present firmware version B160 dated?
Firmware Finder (FF) (online version) shows B150 as the latest, so FF's probably not going to help you unfortunately: http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=VIE-L09c627&firmware_page=0
Your only other option may be to convert to another region's ROM, which has received regular updates - e.g. Euro C432 ROM (latest is B382, dated March 2018). But, it's a risky procedure which involves unlocking the bootloader, rooting the phone, changing the vendor country info with SRK Tool, etc, etc.

Which update did you try? If you're still on 4.1, then you should try a much earlier update (i.e. the very 1st 5.0 update) - I'd recommend one of the B361s from here (or via the FF app): http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=VIE-L29C605&firmware_page=0
Always download & apply the FullOTA-MF, in this case ~1.3Gb file size.
Once you have installed B361 successfully, try the B381 update (not the latest B382 as it will not work at this stage most likely). Again, download the FullOTA-MF (1.4Gb) & apply it.

try B202 first
I had an P9+ B130 version and was able to upgrade to B202, which is needed as a stepping stone to MIUI 5. I used FF with the proxy update scheme. The B202 update worked while other versions stopped at verifying the update, which is just what you experienced.

I'm out of luck then it seems that the B354 update is no longer available on FF which is the "steppingstone" in my case.

Version downgrade

I have searched everywhere but I didn't find a reply to my question.
A couple of days ago I have updated my phone LLD-L31 to the version 8.0.0.132 through Firmware Finder (it worked for me with proxy method) then I decided to revert back to the previous version 8.0.0.131. So I started reading guides to install a firmware on Huawei/Honor devices, I have downloaded the FullOTA package version 8.0.0.131 with Firmware Finder, placed it in the folder dload on my SDcard and started the intstallation in the project menu (accessible digiting *#*#2846579#*#* in the dialer), it started but suddenly it ended with a message "installation failed".
So my question is: how can i revert to the previous version of the software (or to the out of the box firmware installed on my device)?

You should have an option to downgrade in the about section/ the update menu of your phone if you did it right.
Otherwise you may need to use the HuRupdater Method.

Thanks for your reply!
I don't have this option, but if I remember well I hadn't it also in the previous version of the firmware.
So i can't install a previous version of the firmware simply downloading it an putting into dload folder of the SDcard?

Can you please specify why do you want to roll back?
Because most people just wanna upgrade to a newer version.Newwr versions will have better stability so it's recommended to keep the latest version unless you have some bugs.
I honestly don't know why the dload method doesn't work, seems that it doesn't work for most people.
I think you'll be able to roll back using HuRupdater. But that'll mean you'll have to unlock bootloader and flash twrp first. Then you can go all stock from there.
Here's a guide to the HuRupdater from @zxz0O0

I'm not sure but I think you are on the latest build for your varient now so you won't be getting any updates untill a next build comes in.
I don't think you'll be able to roll back without the firmwares from firmware finder as you don't have an option to roll back.
The best option now would be to just wait for the next official build(might come soon as a small ota which has security patches) and then check if you are facing any issues installing which you won't as you are not rooted and dosent have an unlocked bootloader. So don't worry ?

Firmaware finder update issue!

Hello everyone, i have c432 b376 version running and i wanna update to b379 using the firmaware finder app but when i check the firmware access it says that isn't approved for installation.
What can i do for update? ?
Device: vtr-l09 ( vtr-l29 firmware)
Current version: c432 b376
Nothing you can do. Just wait for the update, don't try other tricks because you might risk a brick.
Stay safe, wait for the updates to come via updater .
