In miui based rom, touching the fingerprint scanner while the screen off will turn the screen on.
I know if password and fingerprint lock is enabled, this method works. But i don't want to set any password
Is there a way to do that on non-miui rom like lineage, aosp, nos, etc?
No. You must set a password/PIN/pattern prior to setting up a fingerprint.

I mean, i want to turn on my screen by touching fingerprint, NOT to set fingerprint with no passwrd/pin/pattern
Maybe there's a way, editing the key layout (generic.kl) maybe?

Then you are having a problem with fingerprint I guess. All the people using custom roms here still touch the fingerprint sensor to unlock directly from screen-off to home screen, same as on MIUI.

I set a fingerprint+pattern on my device and it's worked well, straight into home screen. Then i removed fingerprint+pattern and try to unlock my phone using fingerprint, but not turned on.
Sorry for my bad english

If you REMOVED your fingerprint+pattern, how can you unlock the phone with fingerprint? That doesn't make any sense.

On miui rom, even no password, you can turn on your screen by touching the fingerprint sensor. Do you know that?

You're finally understand it, thanks :victory:, i knew a rumors that turning on a doubletap2wake or sweep will consume some battery. Is that true?

Yes. It does drain the battery, both by the touch panel and the cpu clock needed to maintain it. It's small, but noticeable.

Ok, thanks for the info, but i still looking for fingerprint method
Cause i want to save my power button's life
Somehow I did it!!
I was resetting my device (Nos oreo), and add fingerprint+pin, reboot my device
And here's the bug:
After reboot I can't use my fingerprint, so I unlock it with my pin, went into setting and the fingerprint setting is gone (Nos bug, or Oreo bug maybe), so I decided to remove my pin and changed into swipe (default). I restart my device and voilaaa, the bug made me happy, the fingerprint is not gone, and the screen lock is still swipe. I try to wake my device by touching my fingerprint and it's worked, press my power button and just swipe to unlock!! No pin or password required :victory:
Here the screenshot

Yes both oreo. And i don't know. I wish this was present in every ROM or least to toggle it with any custom kernel.

Depends on your ROM.
If you are on stock, it should be working.
If you are on DN5, you have to switch to another lock app.
If you are on erobot, it should work.
Other than that, I dont know.

No, in fact, I´m using stock (AT&T so there´s no way I can use a custom rom, sadly) but when I set unlock via finger print and when I wake the phone the screen goes blank, no option to neither swipe the finger nor enter a code. Pretty weird!!
Hi guys,
I'm using a fingerprint scanner to unlock my phone and I'm used to going directly to the application after clicking on the notifications from the lock screen. Now, with screen built-in fingerprint scanner, when I click on the notification from the lock screen, it will first ask me to provide a password (password is enforced by my company), then I have to click on the small fingerprint icon and only then I can unlock the phone using my fingerprint. With my previous phones, i.e. OnePlus 6 which had a fingerprint scanner at the back, I was able to save this one click on the screen. I know it's nothing tragic but still, if you'd have an idea how to set it up that after clicking on a notification it doesn't ask me for a password but for fingerprint scan, I would really appreciate your help!
Cheers

Thanks. But to jump in app with fingerprint you need to first click on the fingerprint icon in the bottom of the screen and only after verify your fingerprint, right? I would love to skip that step of clicking on the fingerprint icon.

Aha thats what u meant. Well i dont think it is possible if u r locked with fingerprint. U have to roll it if u want to get into app, i mean thats why fingerprint exists, for security reasons.

I don't want to get rid of the fingerprint scanning itself but to get rid of touching the fingerprint icon when the password prompt comes up. I hope it's clear now [emoji28]

Hi guys!
I've been using Xiaomi phones for many years now and I loved the feature on my Redmi Note 4 where I could just touch the fingerprint sensor and unlock the phone, without any fingerprints added.
So technically, anyone could unlock the phone, as long as they touched the sensor.
I'm trying to mimic this behavior on my Mi 9T Pro.
I'm wondering if there's any way of using the fingerprint unlock sensor with no fingerprints setup?
My idea is it would be faster, as it was on my Redmi Note 4.
Since the sensor already works whenever I press it, I see no reason for it to not work with no fingerprints at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!
I use the apk Double Tap.
Double Tap - Apps on Google Play
Easy to turn on/off screen without power. Not affected to unlock by fingerprint
play.google.com
No ads, freeware, rock stable, uses almost no battery at all and works perfectly.

I'll check the app out for sure, but I'm still wondering if there's a built-in way of doing this, as was the case on my previous phones?

Hey, I just downloaded the app, but it does not appear to have double tap to wake option, only double tap to sleep.
Am I missing something obvious?

Check Settings>Accessibility, it needs to be enabled there.
You could try setting it as a Device Administrator but I don't have it enabled as one.
Try a reboot.
Hello !
Since I updated to A12, I have to press twice the sensor for unlocking my phone with my fingerprint. When I press the sensor once it only turn on the screen and display the lockscreen. The lockscreen is on but the phone is unlocked, no need for code or scheme at this step, i can either swipe up or touch again the sensor to go the the homescreen.
Can we disable that and go directly to homescreen like it was on A11 ?

Set your Animator Duration Scale to 1x in Developer Options to fix it. I had the same problem, plus always on display didn't show battery percentage and charging status as well. This will fix all of that.
I ended up putting all animations back to 1x from .5x, but the duration scale is all you really need to set back to 1x
Wow I would never have thought to look for that... Thanks man !

Set it to no animations and you'll get new problems lol. For me I had to press the power button twice to turn off my screen with that. Android 12 is a little too buggy to call a stable release imo.
I'm trying to enable 'tap to check' option to show aod when tapping once from screen off. But instead of going to aod (black screen with time and notification icons), phone goes directly to lock screen.
Is this a bug? If not, is the preview from settings wrong?
I have the same problem on p7pro and I can't figure out if it's a bug or normal behavior: I did read a lot of XDA and reddit topic but it's not clear.
Do you still have the issue ?
Mine doesn't work with tap but if I lift or just move it gently, that will show the AOD... but lift it too hard and it goes to lock screen.

I just noticed it last night. If I just lift it a little on it's side, it's AOD (or ambient display ?) coming up, and if I lift it completely it's the lock screen plus looking at my face to unlock.
But I would like to have only the AOD when I tap it with a finger, because most on the time it unlocks when I tap, because it sees my face ^^
Edit: and the AOD do not come every time I slightly move it. Like when it's just locked, it doesn't come ...
When I tap mine it goes to the lockscreen, but any notifications are shown also. I have face and fingerprint unlock disabled. When I had them enabled I would never see notifications unless I unlocked the screen first.

Yes still having it and I can't find a way to make this work as it should. Let's wait for Monday's feature drop to check if it'll get things fixed.
Yes, same here.
For me lifting goes to lockscreen, I cannot achieve the situation that slight lift causes AOD to show. The same with tapping - it goes straight to lockscreen (though description and preview suggests that it should show AOD instead of lockscreen). Whenever I receive a notification, AOD shows and it's OK. Basically what I don't like is that tapping should show AOD and is showing lockscreen instead (the best option for me would be to have single tap to show AOD, double tap to show lockscreen and while on AOD, double tap to show lockscreen).

Exactly.
for the AoD to show, you can try to slightly shake it, or lift only one side when it's on a table.

I am using the QPR2 beta. It still goes to the lock screen when tapping but it does seem to more reliably go to the AOD when I pick up the phone and only goes to the lock screen if I'm more aggressive with it. I'm actually fine with it now.

It was like that before for me. But still, it would be great to have the ability to choose. Especially when you have face unlock enabled and don't want the phone to unlocks when you check for notifications ...
