Huawei P9 Battery Issues - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

So basically i'm pretty sure my P9 is dying
The phone has been freezing and dying at anything from 20%-30% still left, but when i go to turn the phone on its completely dead, at 0% and wont make it past the splash screen.
When i plug my phone in to charge it after its died, it starts charging at 40%-50%, its completely unpredictable.
If anyone could help me out that would be great,
Thanks in Advance

I am struggling with this issue too.
One obvious problem causing that issue the dying battery. The older the battery gets, the lesser its capacity. There is no turning back from it. Everything is born, lives and dies; and the cell phone batteries are no exception.
So since we cannot fix that, one might want to see at least the indicator showing the battery level correctly, so he/she do not encounter unwanted situations. To achieve that, you might want to simply calibrate your battery. There is plenty of ways to do this. Look it up, it's everywhere on internet. There is no guarantee it will work %100 perfectly but hey, that's at least something to do!

I have faced same problem with mine P9, and replaced oem battery about month ago and now is same as first day Still strong cellphone for everyday use and multitasking.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've also tried doing "calibration" etc but no go.
The latest comment indicates that a battery replacement worked well. I'll book my phone in, hopefully it works.

Is there any good replacement battery for our P9?

I think the OEM Huawei battery for the P9 is not very expensive.

I had the same issue, replaced the battery
and it is good to go.

Battery Instability

Nowadays I have a weird problem. Even though I fully charge my phone, it behaves like battery is empty. It happens in two way:
1. After some usage, it can occur at 15%.
2. While showing battery is charged enough, you restart the phone. It starts as ciritical battery level.
3. For case 1, it can happen at higher levels as well. Screen starts flickering then phone shutsdown suddenly.
I tried calibration apk. I suspect it caused some problem also.
My system was stock 4.1.2 leak. I thought it may be reason, so I downgraded to ICS. But, I still have same problem...
Any1 has an idea? Battery or phone has problem or not?
May be time to get a new battery

I opened back cover now. I am very surprised. Battery got deformed. Middle part became thicker. It cannot fit to battery slot.
I think god saved me. It could explode.
This turned from question to possible Samsung defect. So, I am agree originally I made wrong choice. But, this topic is suitable for here in the light of my new finding.

I have the exact same problem! Been wanting to change the battery but haven't found it. If you buy a new battery and everything comes back to normal, please let us know!
I have same issue as OP. My screen starts to flicker at 15% as if it's about to lose power any second.
Happens with OEM battery as well as two aftermarket hyperion batteries.
Same here.. my batterry was a little bulged at the middle and i thought it is still ok.. then it started acting up..
-It says fully charged on the battery indicator while turned off and charging
- when I turn it on, it says 50%..
- when I get to recovery (philZ stock kernel recovery) it says 1%
Then it got worse and wont turn on when unplugged... Bought a battery at our local samsung store and all the problems went away!

Awesome!! That's what I wanted to know! Now I'll look for the battery.
Does anybody know why this happens?
I had this issue last month. Changed to Mugen battery. Everything's good now.
All the symptoms described here are dying battery issues. Have them replaced before your note dies.
I was unaware of this situation and I downgraded by JellBean to first GB, then ICS. I am lucky it did not shutdown during firmware install.
I went to some official Samsung technical service. They will give me a new battery soon. I am using my Sony Ericsson Walkman series phone Luckily I have iPad with cellular. Now, I will just wait and I will hope everything will be ok.
I bought a 7000 mAh battery on ebay. It's awesome! No problem now. My battery last all day :good:

Seriuos Overheating and Battery Problem??

Hi everyone! My phone is 2 months old, 1 week ago, my phone start to heat so badly, in upper part is really really hot... As a matter of fact the battery is drained really fast, 3 hours in stand by... Before can get one day easily... Make a factory reset, doesn't work... The problem start a few days after I update de stage fright update, you think is the problem? Anyone else experience this? The phone is out of warranty in USA, cause is a UK version, xt1068....
Ty:good::good::good:
processor in probably running at full speed doing something it's not supposed to. I seriously doubt it's a hardware problem so I would recommend unlocking the bootloader and try using another ROM.
could it be as a UK phone in USA its always trying to find a better network? this would cause heat and drain issues?
Yeah think the same. I'll try... The 5.1 update it suppose to comes up this month...

I do not think so... Happens the same, without sim...
Besides, even when I charge power off, with a wall adapter 1A, it never charges, because it discharge more easily than charge. I have to charge with a 2A charger, but is really slow, more than 8 hours to get completly charge... What do you think?
As decipher said, what seems to be is a process eating all the battery and keeping the CPU at full speed. We don't know if it's an app you're using or an Android problem so to see it the best thing you can do is to unlock your bootloader, install twrp or cwm recovery and then flash a custom rom. Personally I had some overheating problems on my xt 1068 at stock version and battery drain, but not this 3 hours standby you're getting. Now I'm using Minimal OS and it's working nice! Tell us if it solves your problem! Good luck! :good::fingers-crossed:

Yes. I don't like to say this, but maybe it's a battery issue. But let's listen what other people say.

Wrong battery reading.

Hey guys I've had a wrong battery reading since 3 weeks ago or so in my t-mobile's note 4. My phone will reboot itself at 30% battery or less. Even more if using the camera or any app stretching the phone's performance. Also when pulling out the battery or restarting the phone the percentage of battery will change randomly sometimes increased or decreased. I did a physical battery check and my battery was bad I did the spinning test on both sides of the battery and kept it spinning all the way. I bought a new battery and everything is the same in terms of wrong battery percentages when pulling out battery. No more soft reboots itself or bootloooping when reaching 30% or less. But sometimes, just sometimes when using camera or watching videos under 30% battery the phone will reboot. I've flashed since 4.4.4 and even MM official firmwares, calibrated battery and nothing changes. I could use some help from you guys. Any advices?

I already did this except for the wake lock app. The fuel gauge method is legit since S5 but I don't know if is some kind of deep software issue in term of displaying battery percentages or hardware issues (I doubt last ).
My son a i both have the Note4 and both are doing the exact same thing. Its not the battery! At 40% it will just shut down and start the loop process and i cant get it to turn back on unless i remove the battery and replace it then plug it in. The battery will say 40%. And if its at 68% it will shut off if i try to use the camera app or the internet. I have to carry a charger with me at all times and keep it plugged in. T-mobile replaced my sons and it does the exact same thing. This started happening around the holidays. Not sure if was around a firmware upgrade or not. Please help, because i still owe tons of money on these phones and Samsung doesn't seem to care to fix them. You can google this problem and you get pages and pages of complaints.

Battery issue question

So, it's been 2 weeks since I got my p20 pro and I'm really loving it.. It's good looking, fast, the camera is awesome.
But I've one issue, well, I'm not really sure it's an issue, but here it is;
The first two days of using the phone the battery was PHENOMENAL.. With SOT of 4.5 hours with 50% of the charge still remaining (4G and GPS on, streaming videos and music.. Photographing, etc) .
But after that it took a hit.. Now I get 3 to 3.5 hours with 50% of charge (battery saving mode on) .. And I don't know what happened exactly.. Is it something I'm doing? Is my charging habit wrong? I'm charging it once a day and I wait until it gets under 10% then charging it to 100%. Is that wrong? Is it a hardware issue that requires me to replace the phone.. Is it software? I don't know.. Here are screenshots for the two cases.. Please help.. Thanks in advance

Hi!
Follow the below steps.
Phone manager>Do optimise>tap on battery icon>Optimise battery usage. And dont let any apps to run in background. Using auto start manager you can control the apps which are running in the background.
and please post the battery usage details and check which app is consuming more battery & kill the apps which are consuming more battery.
Hopefully it would help.
I was getting 7.30-8 hours sot in first 2 weeks. But now i can get 6 hours top. I heard this from a lot of people. I dont know why this is happening but probably it s about AI.

Huawei P9 Battery problem

Hi,I have a Huawei P9(EVA L-19 model,Android 7,ver. C432B399).The phone is 2 years old and the battery was starting to get weaker so a week ago I replaced it with a new one,but since then i started experiencing problems with sudden battery drops. One day it dropped from 27% to 4%,the next day from 35 to 11%.Basically,after the charge drops below 40% it enters in this critical zone where i dont know when or will this drop happen and it always happened while i wasnt using the phone.
Since then i ve tried different battery calibration method, factory resetting the phone and even flashing it back to android 6.0,but the problem still occurs.
So I'm asking for your opinion is this some sort of hardware problem or just a faulty battery?
