I also have a chinese version P20 PRO CLT-AL00 8.1.0.108(sp3c00).
Will it lose some hardware functions?
What about warranty ? All I want would be to have a normal European software inside with google apps and so on.
In case I have a problem I would install the backup of the current firmware and send it to repairs in China.
How in a quickly overview can I do this ? I know about TWRP but I am not sure if I can just copy the firmware from one L29 to my L00 and just hope for the best..

I successfully rebranded and installed a european firmware (CLT-L29 8.1.0.120 (C432)) with FunkyHuawei. The Huawei stock apps are replaced with Google stock apps. I haven't loss any noticeable functionality.
The UK Huawei team is the only team I encounter that actually helps with customers, especially with assisting unlocking bootloaders. I would consider sending the phone to them before China.
Warranty is voided when bootloader is unlocked and the device is rooted. UK Huawei team gives several warnings about warranty while obtaining the unlock code for the bootloader.

Do you an an e-mail contact for the Huawei UK team?

Mine is the chinese version too, I’ve asked Huawei UK for the code. What’s the procedure to rebrand it?

There's instructions provided and Funky Huawei will happily help you through the process if you get stuck or confused.
In general,
Unlock Bootloader
Setup DNS server to point to FunkyHuwaei
Boot to Fastboot
Run rebrand tool with device connected
Choose region
Choose firmware
Boot to eRecovery
Run update
Wait and reboot, success
You'll encounter errors and will have to run the tool twice. This is normal.

Sorry for replying in an older thread but I didn't want to create a new one for a similar question.
I have a P20 Pro bought from China, as I had problems using my S8+ with China sims, but I would like to bring to EU firmware as it has chinese voice control menus with chinese commands that cannot be changed to english. Google is there as a separate menu but it doesn't include Wake Up command like the native functionalities in the Voice control menu.
Is there a way to bring it to EU firmware but unroot it after I'm done? Reason is I have insurance to cover my phone back in UK but I'm not sure whether it will cover it if it's rooted.

Still no official 7.0 Nougat update global release?!

Why is Huawei so slow in making the official 7.0 update available for every P9 user? A few people have already received it so how come the majority still don't have said update?

Because its not just up to Huawei to send out these updates. If you have a branded phone, the update will actually come from the carrier, this is why the global models (C432 and C636) were the very first to get EMUI 5.0, because these are international models and the updates usually comes directly from Huawei. If you have a Vodaphone branded phone, then you are really waiting on Huawei sending the firmware to Vodaphone and then Vodaphone will need to do their testing to make sure it works (this sometime takes months, even up to a year) with their frequencies and services. So if you are on anything but C432 and C636, its not Huawei's fault you havent got EMUI 5.0, its your carriers fault.

There is a way to check but I cant remember how but I dont think it is an international model. Even if it has no branding, does not mean its an international version as well. It may be up to your local carrier to push through the update.

I am not 100% sure that the L19 Nougat firmware has started rolling out or not but I do know the L09 (both C432 and C636) has been officially rolled out. If you do some research into it and the L19C636 is getting the official Nougat update, I think there is a way to request for a firmware update via HiSuite.
Did not see the above answer, wrote the same, sorry. P.s. Both me and my friend got update via HiCare, not through settings.

I emailed the following to Huawei UK a few days:
Hi,
When is v7 android going to be released for unbranded Huwaei P9 in the UK.
We are so far behind... Others have had updates ages ago.
Thank
They sent the following reply:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Huawei UK Customer Care.
In response to your query, all the Huawei P9 European devices are planned to receive the Android Nougat update. However, at the moment we do not have any official release date. As soon as your device will be ready to update you will receive a notification and you will be able to commence with the installation process.
I trust that the above information will be helpful. Of course, if you have any other queries, don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to assist.

in Finland, official EVA-L09 OTA-update is out earlier this week....i'm not updated, because don't know if it can root or not.
Seems like everyone else in Europe is getting it.
Sadly, we in the UK are still waiting!

Actually you are not alone, here also in the Philippines although Huawei stated that the Nougat update for L19C636 is already out but not everyone is getting it. I myself (using L19C6363) still not getting the update from the Updater nor in HiCare app. Huawei stated that the update is being pushed batch by batch. Since I got tired of waiting I was able to update by using Huawei updater and HiSuite. But still I recommend to wait for the announcement of Huawei to release the update in your region, there are some who use the Huawei updater got their device brick.

I live in Africa, every time I look for the update in HiCare or in the settings, there is nothing. In HiCare I switched from continent to europe then i took France as a country, i erased the cache in the application and i restarted the update request right after i In the B378.
If it can help.
This is a trick that was given to me by a member who often comes to the forum and who had done the update in the same way, thanks to him he will recognize himself.
I have an EVA-L09C432B375, my old version was the B185.
Excuse my bad English.
Updated today my EVA-L09C432 from B360 to B378 (Telekom Slovenia)
I spoke to a guru from O2 UK who actually had a p9 and was informed that the update from O2 will only be released the middle of next month. Long time to wait.?

I emailed Huawei again... this time they asked for my IMEI number to check and then came back with this:
Thank you for Contacting Huawei Customer Services.
Your device has O2 custom firmware on it. This means that until O2 releases their customised version of EMUI 5.x, no update will be released to your device.
As it is a third party developing the customisations, it is not something we have a timeline for.
I am sorry we cannot be of more help in this issue. I do hope you have a great weekend though!

To all Huawei P20 Pro owners (Mexico/Canada, CLT-L04)

Hello everyone,
This thread is for the owners of a Huawei P20 Pro (CLT-L04) which Huawei sells in México and Canada. As a owner of this device, I find very difficult to find a carrier free firmware and FunkyHuawei does not support this version of the model.
I was trying to rebrand but I didn't do it because there isn't a lot of information for this version.
So, in an effort to concentrate all the information about that specific model I have created this thread.
Remember that you have less than 60 days to ask for a code.
Huawei will shut down support about unlocking bootloader codes.
If you successfully rebrand you CLT-04, please reply with a source or your experience about it
Greetings, Mr.P
It's not supported per se as no there are no updates directly from Funkyhuawei, but if you rebrand it to a supported model it should be fine, I did it with a Mate 10 and I'm just waiting to get a dual sim tray to rebrand it
I asked FunkyHuawei and was told there was certain risk of bricking my phone so I didnt try as they said it would be permanent... If someone tries and get it working I'd definitely do it. As a Mexican I know Telcel will take ages to update this device, we're still on 102 (c69) firmware ¬¬
Im from Vancouver, bought my P20 Pro from Hong Kong, as the twilight wasnt being sold here yet. Im guessing its on the HK firmware CLT-L29
Canadian owner here, will be waiting to see how it goes if any CLT-L04's get rebranded.

Sorry for the noob question. Rebranding meaning CLT-04 to CLT29 for example? If so, I was going to try CLT-29 on the weekend form this site https://www.getdroidtips.com/huawei...t_of_Huawei_P20_Pro_Stock_Firmware_collection
Some people is rebranding CLT-09 to CLT-29 and viceversa. the question is... Will it work with CLT-04??
Here is the guide for rebranding. Still looking for info before try this...

yeah same here. if anyone had success would greatly appreciate the steps.
Yes the steps of the tutorial for rebranding clt-09 to clt-29 works with this model
I'm from Mexico and have this model and the first day I unlock the bootloader before too late and then l follow that tutorial for rebranding and delete the crap apps from telcel.
A very useful tip from my to you, first make a backup using the unofficial twrp. NOT THE OFFICIAL. Because the oficial won't work well with this model and don't allow you to make the backup until you format data

Did you rebrand for a Dual-sim?
I know you have a single-sim because I have the same P20 Pro from Telcel.
Did the bootloader code change?
I want to change to a dual-sim before the time for unlock the bootloader expires.

So bye bye your 2 years warranty from Huawei Mexico, correct? Thats the only thing holding me from unlocking my Telcel P20 pro. I already have the code as i didnt want to lose the opportunity but just dont want to lose my warranty.
Yeah! I prefer lose warranty.
There have too much crap trash apps and outdated firmware so you can't have the full potential of this beast phone.
And more because some guy already ported Huawei camera with all the functions to project treble and more specified to lineage OS

I don't have the dual sim tray to try it, in that tread people say you need to put the two Sims to get dual sim functionality if not you see only one sim option on the settings menu
Just rebranded mine, L29 C432 still on .120 and no update available OTA. Did you receive any update?
CLT-L04 bought in Mexico here, just rebranded to CLT-L29 following the steps posted here. No issues so far besides Google Photos not downloading my pictures. Had to uninstall the app through adb commands and reinstalling again.
BTW, I'm not receiving the last update either. Still looking for a way to install manually.

Use the phone for 1 month, swim with it, test it as there is no tomorrow. I would prefer lose the warranty, and I am more sure because they give you 2 years of warranty. Huawei know they are selling high quality products.
Besides, the warranty in this case with the carrier, not Huawei directly.

P20 Pro Firmware Variants

Can someone explain to me where the different P20 Pro variants are from? I'm not talking about the L29, L09 and so on, but about c432, c652 etc. From what I've read one the forums so far, I reckon the L-29, c432 version which I have is the "best", however I haven't received the 131 update yet (I'm on 120) and that kind of worries me. One last question: my P20 Pro is brand new and after I inserted my SIM card I got an update (obviously from my carrier) named DT. GRC 8.1.0.4 (CT) (my current last installed update is CLT-L29 8.1.0.120 (C432)). The changelog is "-Optimized network interworking - essential and recommended apps" I don't really want to install it because it will apparently install bloatware from my carrier, but I'm confused about the higher version number (8.1.0.4 vs. 8.1.0.120). How come it is higher? And if I do install it will I continue to receive c432 updates as they are released or will I have to wait for my carrier to roll them out?
There is no best variant. The version are devided by World regions. The 432 is the European one. As for the update you got its from your network provider. I got it to too (DT. GRC 8.1.0.4 LT) but after I have received the. 128 version.

I don‘t think .131 is officially out yet. I have not seen an official changelog so far and most people that have it seen to have flashed it manually. so relax, it will come when it‘s ready.

So I have to install this update before I am able to install 1.28? I also thought about it before but I was hesitant to do it as the update from my carrier has (C150) at the end which probably means that after I install it my phone will change to C150 from C432 and I don't know the consequenses of that (my main fear is that then my carrier would have to approve updates before I receive them which would delay them even further). But if it is the only way I can be able to install 1.28 and any later update then I guess I'll do it.
P.S. I said C432 is the "best" because I see that anyone who wants to rebrand does so to the C432 variant so I reckon there are some advantages to it (like receiving updates quicker maybe?)
C432 it's the most common version around the globe. In order for an update to be compatible with your phone, should read c432. You can't install other than 432.

But I literally have it resumed right now because I accidentally began the download. I mean how would I even get it on my phone as an OTA if it wasn't compatible? My question is, after i install it will my firmware change from a free one to a branded one?
*EDIT*: I found the below really helpful article which I thankfully understood thanks to my knowledge of German. To sum it up, it basically says that it is natural for P20 Pro users to get an update from their carrier as soon as they insert a SIM card on their phone. It may appear to be a different firmware version (like in my case which was C150), however the update will only install a couple of apps from your carrier (which you are going to be able to uninstall anyway) and that it won't interfere neither with how quick and the way you receive updates nor your device's firmware variant. Here is the link to the article: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/huawei-p20-pro.3297/faq-branding-beim-huawei-p20-pro.876843.html
I think it should be pinned somewhere as I believe it would help more people because I've seen plenty others wondering the same thing
Can confirm that right after I installed the carrier update, version 128 was made available to download and the phone remained as C432. Problem solved, thanks Android-Hilfe.
In my case I receive the 128 first and after that the provider update. Now I'm waiting for the 131 or 132 update that's being released for c432.

Yes OTA. My phone is not rooted.
Huawei hast a miserable update politic.
No one knows how it works and why some devices are getting updated immediately and others not.
EMUI8 should be rolled out for everyone. Maybe your IMEI is not in their system or your phone is rebranded and Huawei won't update because IMEI and region are not fitting together.
You can try Firmware Finder app by TeamMT to update. It works until newer Oreo versions. You can also check Firmware Access in this app, maybe you can update through it.
Or you try to ask Huaweis support, but it's not very good and professional in most countries.

Which of these should i install in order not to lose my data ?
Thank you
Try OTA first, if this doesn't work FullOTA.
There's always a risk losing your data while updating, even with official methods.
If you want to lower this risk try the latest version called "(Full)OTA-PV". This is the public version.
I never had any issues with updating using Firmware Finders files.

Not global, C636 is an Asian version. There are beta tests in some European countries and sometimes Huawei ceased releasing updates completely (I'm stuck on B376 and it's the newest version for my country, even though P10 Lite got 4 more updates and continues getting them regularly).

you're not stuck. change to another region firmware. what's stopping you
@fatjoez You cannot change the region in EMUI anymore, it's determined by your SIM. It's enough to swap it with the one from abroad and updates will show up immediately. It worked for many people, unfortunately I don't have an access to such SIM.
And it's not a bug, Huawei's consultants admitted that by Huawei's decision B376 is the newest software in my country (which is one of the largest for Huawei in EU).
no I mean what's stopping you to rebrand your phone? or force flash another regions firmware?

Yes, look for 'rebranding' in the guides section. You do need an unlocked bootloader for this.

Hi
I got the same model VTR-L29(C636) on eBay from China. Trying to use it in Delhi, but the phone appears to have extremely poor radios. It connects well in areas where the signal is strong, but in weak areas it just doesn't connect at all.
India primarily uses 4 LTE bands - 3, 40, 41 and 5. Band 5 (850 mhz) comes into play indoors, where the signal is the weakest. It looks as if the P10 is unable to use this band, although the specifications say so.
I am interested in knowing what is the connectivity of the phone like in B'desh, whether you are facing the same issues or not.
Thanks.
Hi
Here in Dhaka we have 3G & 4G connection available based on locations in City area. Most of the time my phone connected with 3G and very rare it is on 4G though it is set on 4G.
I have no problem on connection and the speed.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers.
Finally Android Pie official is rolling out, already in China and soon Europe and rest of the world

VOG-L29 update problem

Hi there
I have bought a second hand VOG-L29 Dual Sim 256 Gb/8Gb model few weeks a go. For many years i have used Samsung's amiral ships so this i want to use two phone paralel for a while to make sure this decision is true for me.
My device build number and model was 9.1.0.108 (SP2C900E108R1P7) and coudn't update via OTA or hi suite. So i started to search xda for OTG/Download mode update like i know from Samsung's. I have change rom's of my device with stock or custom many times in old devices and had no problem but in Huawei i get error " Your device has loaded a different operating system" I have try two version of rom files which publish in here 10.0.0.186 for C431 and C432.
May be i have choose wrong rom because i can't be sure whole model number which seems like 9.0.0.108(SP2C900E108R1P7).
Help me to find necessary rom version for my p30 pro and i can install it via erecovery OTG/microsd/usb update method.
Thank You

Hi m8,
Usually C900 is the version of the cust that gets flashed another firmware from another device and messes it up. Was your phone bought from a retailer? Do you have an option to return it and get an replacement?
What could bevthe issue? There are 2 options about it :
1. It was a VOG unit intented to be used by the on-line/offline testers or some reviewers and usually those tests devices has C900 cust (in that case it means NO OTA or other updates);
2. It had another cust and previous owner used paid services (as Funky Huawei) to flash firmwares and flashed a wrong one whitch f####d up the cust and without unlocked bootlader you can't change it or rebrand it.
As long as you cannot unlock the bootloader you will be stucked with this problem, even you flash C431 or C432 firmware.

Thanks for your reply i searched so many forms but no one has information that you have. I think i don't have chance to return it because device has no warranty so now i looked for other your idea about funky huawei or unlock bootloader. If there is a chance to make it with gsm repair shops helps i will try or is there any method to unlock bootlader from adb in recovery mode.

Short version :
1. Funky Huawei had an offer of unlocking bootloader codes for 200$, unlock bootloader code that for other OEM's IS FREE (Somy, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc)!!!. I don't reccomend paying a cent to them.
2. On GSM service centers they could change your phone's motherboard (it costs ~300$, depending on version - L29+8GB RAM+512 GB storage). Maybe take a visit to some GSM repair service or search on ebay/amazon for motherboard and buy one then get replaced in a service center.
Hope you get it done, somehow
