When I connect my Note 8 and my laptop on Win10 via Wifi, I get the SideSync popup on Windows, but it no longer mirrors the Note 8 screen. I use this maybe once or twice a month and it used to work, and I am thinking that it may have stopped working after I installed Android 8.0.0. I can still move files back and forth and I can play music on my phone via Windows. I just cannot display the Note 8 screen on Windows.
I did a search on the Samsung forum site and someone mentioned about a Regedit tweak that got it to work for them, but it isn't working for me. Beyond that, I have no idea what else to try.
Anyone else have this issue?

I have been trying to connect my stock Galaxy Note 3 via wifi to the Seagate Goflex Satellite hard drive, and it immediately disconnects. The Note 3 shows the connection is available, and when it attempts to connect it says Checking Quality of Internet Connection, and then it drops off and says Internet not available. I just downloaded and installed the 1.3.7.001 firmware for the Goflex and no difference. I can connect with a laptop to the same connection, and I also was able to use a Samsung Captivate with Cyanogen Mod 10 installed, no problems making the connection. Is it a problem with the Android 4.3 installed on the Note 3? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am having the same problems, works fine on my Nexus 7 but Note 3 wont keep a connection to it, hope this is resolved fast, I rely on that drive to work flawlessly.
Unable to contact to goflex satellite with note 3
I was able to resolve the issue by reinstalling the goflex media software from the play store. Apparently it must have been a bad install the first time?
Happened again
Today i go to use my goflex satellite with my note 3 and it stopped working again! Ive tried manually restarting the software prior to turning on the drive in case the software needs to be up before attempting a connection. This seems like something going on with the note 3. I will reach out to seagate support. I'll let you know of i hear anything. O the owners in the same situation please do the same so we get attention.
I can access mine just fine using a file explorer. Enter the ip, login and password and I'm in..? Why are you using strange software? I did download some sort of software to access mine remotely and it didn't really work. Could see files but not download them. You should be able to even use the file explorer to access via remote ftp
You were lucky I guess, because I have reinstalled the software app on my Note 3 a few times now, and nothing worked for me.
Solution recommended by Seagate technical support
Hello Everyone,
I've had this exact same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S3 after upgrading Android from 4.1.2 to 4.3
I logged a support ticket with Seagate support. The solution/workaround I was provided is:
1) Access Settings -> Wifi
2) Access the Android menu soft key -> Advanced
3) Uncheck the option "Auto Network Switch"
I have not had a chance to test this suggestion solution as yet, but it does sound promising, although the fine print on the option says this option is auto switching between WiFi and Mobile data, not between WiFi APs.
That said, whilst I was waiting for Seagate support to respond, I found another workaround:
1) Logon to the the GoFlex Satellite from a Windows PC using the browser URL (172.25.0.1/)
2) Enable the Connect to the internet option at the bottom left hand corner of the page
In my case, I connect to my home WiFi AP.
Once connected, I then connect my Galaxy S3 to the GoFlex Satellite's WiFi. For some reason having the passthrough Internet connectivity established first on my Windows PC stopped the switching away from the GoFlex Wifi.
I hope one of these suggested workarounds is of assistance.
Cheers,
Michael
I doubt many have this problem as most people using smart view have a wifi connection they use to connect their devices to. My display adapter is one that doesn't connect to a network but instead basically creates it's on wifi connection that my phone connects to using WiFi direct. Before the Oreo update it worked flawlessly and still does on my S7 Edge.
Now when I try to connect to it on my Note 8 it's tries to connect and in some instances connects, but then almost immediately disconnects there after. I contacted samsung support and had them remote into it to see if they could get it to work. They told me it was a bug and that they would forward it to the development team, and that a fix should come soon for the bug. Well it's now going on three weeks since then and there has yet to be a update out fixing the issue. I emailed Samsung support reminding them of the issue and they said there was no reported problems related to smart view and that the next update should fix a lot of the bugs that came with the first update.
My hope with this post is that others might have the same issue or a work around, and if not, that maybe Samsung will eventually see it and find a fix for it. My S7 doesn't perform as well as my Note 8 so I'm hoping a solution comes soon.

Where can I find whatever it is that you did to make yours work? Mine works at my friend's house using WiFi and a Chromecast. But WiFi direct to a WiFi video adapter just doesn't work and it makes no sense. Did yours work on nougat?
No mines never worked still don't.
My wife's does out of the box. I have heard so many horror stories. His works his don't. This firmware. That firmware. No one really knows what's wrong with it.
Mine works about half way. I can't never fully connect. Like my tv acknowledges that my phone is trying to connect but my phone never does. My s7 did this too. But my note 5 worked great
Same problem. Galaxy S7 trying to mirror on Samsung Smart TV. Worked fine before Oreo. Now, it says it's connected, then says "Screen Mirroring ended" Help!
I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 and have the exact same problem using the smartview funtion that came with the phone. It will work fine for youtube videos but when I try to stream a video from other apps smartview will disconnect and then freeze my phone untill it restarts itself. Before oreo I had no problems using smartview without wifi. Have you heard of any fixes yet??
Still no workaround? :'(
Apologies if this is the wrong section. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 on Verizon. A few months ago I had a Kenwood DMX906S installed in my car. Up until Verizon rolled out the Android 10 Update, I was able to use Smart View to wirelessly screen mirror to my Kenwood. With the update, the Smart View app was also updated to v8.1.32. I'm not sure what it was before, but looking through the previous APKs, I'm thinking it was version 7.x.x.
So now, I'm unable to share to my Kenwood. Other support forums have shown that people are having the same issues with Sony Bravia TVs and other TVs as well. I have contacted Kenwood and they said it's not really their issue and they might look at releasing a firmware update at some point.
So, I've looked on APK Mirror and have been able to find previous versions of the APK, but I can't figure out how to uninstall the current version because it's a built in app. And even if I try to just install a more recent version available on APK Mirroring (8.1.40) it gives me a simple error that the APK wasn't installed. More than that, I'm not certain if the problem stems from an issue with the Smart View app itself or if it's a setting somewhere in the new Android 10 Update that I'm overlooking. Any help would be appreciated.
Same issue with a Kenwood dmx9706s and gs9+
I contacted Samsung nine times. They want me to send my phone in. They don't get it. Kenwood says sorry not our problem. Verizon says we don't do software. Crutchfield says, yes we know you bought that receiver last week. But it's discontinued now. And try Samsung.
It seems like something in wifi direct is broken. I also tried the newer apks and they would not install.
Didn't work for me but...
I have a galaxy z flip and my device will connect but only displays a zoomed in section of my homescreen. But I found on a reddit thread that a lot of people were able to get their smart view to work again after resetting network settings. You will lose saved wifi passwords, etc. but I felt it worth trying even though my problem didn't exactly match up. But if your problem is not being able to connect at all then that was a fix that worked for quite a few people. Hopefully it works for you, now I'm off to continue my search for a solution to my seemingly on off problem.
verizon or samsung update?
Ive had the Samsung AllShare Cast Wireless Hub/dongle since the Galaxy S3. It has worked with every Samsung device that i threw at including the note9. When it was on Oreo. I recently updated to android 10 and the smartview drop down in settings connects however when it mirrors to the screen it only shows a silhouette of my home screen turned to the right with no other images from my phone. I went to the play store and found other mirroring apps and the same problem. My old Note 4 still works and prior to updating to android 10 so did this Note. Please help.

It previously worked with smartview on oreo. Since updating to android 10 I've been having this issue. It has something to do with one 2.0 ui or android 10.

May update fixed it
Hi Folks,
I have been using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (SM-T515) to connect with an elderly relative. I have Teamviewer Host installed for remote access and Skype set to auto-answer. It was all working fine until the tablet was stupidly upgraded to Android 10. Now Skype will only auto-answer if the app is open and in the foreground. Otherwise, it just shows up with the normal notification of an incoming call. As for Teamviewer it mostly now connects with a back screen.
I then purchased a new Tablet, Samsung TAB A7 10.4 (SM-T505) to set up at home and swap with the other one. However, I get the same issues. I've been on to both Samsung and Skype help both in terms of the community and company support. Skype at least seem to be trying to find out what the issue is. Samsung just gives and blames Skype/Teamviewer. There was a post in the Samsung community of someone else with a similar Teamviewer issue on a Tab A 8.4 which was resolved by an update with the Feb security fix. The TAB A7 I have has the December security update. Although I can't find any reference to the issue with skype auto answering as most of the posts are about trying to stop it doing that.
Before I go and try and get a non-Samsung tablet I just wanted to check if this was a wider issue or just with these Samsung Android 10 devices. While it is obviously getting expensive in useless tablets the bigger issue is restoring a simple connection with my relative during this time so any and all help or advice would be most graciously received.

Similar issue here,
Cannot remote view Samsung a7 tab if it locks
Tried to set up the pin and password in team viewer yet all I get is a blank screen until I unlock at the source
I assume Skype cannot auto answer until it is unlocked... have you tried this then called the device? If it works then samsung security is the issue
If we can set these apps as device administrators (like with antivirus) it may fix this, but Samsung doesn't allow us to set them. Possibly rooting would fix this problem?
Custom OS otherwise, take Samsung software out of the equation without needing to buy another tab
Hi There,
Thanks for your response. Ultimately the Teamviewer issue seemed to be sorted by an update. Strangely it would work in portrait mode but not in landscape (or the other way round). I turned off the screen lock so maybe that is why it worked for me.
However, after some back and forth with Microsoft Skype support they have acknowledged that this is now a known issue is a known problem with Skype on Android 11. I have since found out that the windows desktop version of skype also has the same problem. They said they are working on it but who knows. Have to say the skype support was at least pretty responsive and kept me informed through the process. Which was positive but ultimately they didn't resolve the issue.
