All discussions will now be held in the Pixel XL thread as the kernel is fully unified!

You may notice the feature list is a little bare. I wanted to get a nice solid base formed first then add features in as requested. Please read the thread before requesting a feature; if it is already present, just press thanks.
In theory, this should work on P as I have merged the source in. I have only tested on Oreo though.
Feel free to join Telegram for beta builds and hanging out https://t.me/joinchat/C1UAJ0OCAoJtDRo-hhkjhw
That's awesome
I think today or tomorrow, depending on my commitments, I'll flash P dp2 with this kernel and report if it's working or not.
Many thanks!
Yes, I confirm it's working perfectly with P, also using magisk 16.4, everything's fine :good:

Would you mind share your TWRP version and your flash procedure? I flashed the kernel with boot_twrp 3.2.1-2 and then magisk 16.4, got bootloop.
Thanks.

Of course. First, you have to start with a clean install. A lot of people are experiencing bootloops with a dirty flash.
So first flash factory image performing wipe. Don't set a lockscreen, I got data unable to decrypt on latest twrp 3.2.1-2 (in oreo worked).
Then fastboot boot twrp. You can choose to flash or just boot twrp, your choice.
If you want to flash twrp:
- flash twrp zip
- reboot recovery
- flash Flash kernel
- flash magisk 16.4 (16.0 stable doesn't work on P)
If you don't want twrp to stick, just:
- flash Flash kernel
- flash magisk 16.4
Reboot. Done.
Thanks @nathanchance ! Been reading your thread in the Marlin section and I'm glad you're adding kcal. Just updated to Android P yesterday and will flash yours when I can.
I have a question though, I flashed some kernels on Android P, clean flash the factory image in-between every time. Some of them every time you reboot you'll be greeted with a message that says to contact my device manufacturer because there's an internal issue. You could press ok and the mess goes away.this happens precisely before the Android beta message pops up when system loads. So some kernels has that error message and some doesn't, does flash kernel act this way?

My guess is other kernels are universally disabling verity; I only disable verity on custom ROMs: https://github.com/nathanchance/AnyKernel2/blob/marlin-flash-8.1.0/anykernel.sh#L64-L80
Good, thanks
Update!
Remember any and all bug reports need to include logs and clear steps to reproduce (see the info in the OP). You should also know what version it started with. If you want to be a tester and get builds before they are released here or just hangout, feel free to stop by Telegram!

Here's my SOT using this kernel on Android P. Browsed the web/social media, YouTube, watched latest episode of fear the walking dead and some other stuff, so medium usage I would say. I'm really happy with this kernel. Sorry for the language being in Swedish but I'm sure you'll recognize what's SOT and what's not, which is 3h 46min with 50% battery left.

Getting similar results here, about 2 hours chrome, 1 hour YouTube and the rest juice ssh. Got about 6hr total which is great for me. Great work @nathanchance!
Hi, thnx for the great kernel. Runs great on P dp2.
Would it be possible to implement double tap 2 sleep along with the rest already existing wake gestures? TIA
Cheers

Final stats. Really pleased with how smooth this kernel runs and that the device doesn't run hot. The SOT is awesome especially considering that this is the Sailfish.

This is my daily driver which I update occasionally depending on weather I need/want new features. There won't be any OTA's because of work. Do please also check the Credits section, and the Screenshots tab.
I do not have a single sim device, however I have compiled kernels for the single sim and dual sim variant both.
The kernel thread has now been split to be here since the kernel gets more updates than the rom (for now atleast).
This project has been renamed to show the my first forays into more *real* development.
Please use the Feature Request tab for feature inclusion requests.
It's also very hard to keep track of bugs reported here in the comments so please, again, use the bug reports tab...
I'm very thankful to everyone commenting, it's just hard to keep track sometimes, and seeing as DevDB has all the features required...
Since I also use XDA Labs which has no DevDB support it'd be best to comment AND add the comment in the required DevDB tab..

Installation Instructions
Eventually these will be flashable zips, however right now they're causing an error (IOError: [Errno 28] No space left on device)
So for now install by fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery_3.0.2.img
I don't recommend wiping userdata via fastboot so if you want you can always factory reset or clear Data, Cache, Dalvik and System from TWRP.
EDIT:- People having trouble flashing the system.img should try with mfastboot (fix found by @katibehi)

MAJOR RELEASE. Go get it.
Beta Release 3.1
Bugs squashed. Notably the reboot.
Beta Release 4
Biggest YET!! Most feature complete rom around.
Beta Release 5
Bigger than ever (feature wise). First and only 7.1.1 build for our devices. Happy New Year!
Sadly this release is not on DevDB.. Since DevDB won't finish attaching files as of 1st Jan and I don't even know if it'll be back. I'm really hoping for a basketbuild account, cuz then I'll be able to serve OTA's. Anyway.
For now due to popular demand this release, Release 5 is uploaded to MEGA.
Beta Release 5.5
Still on MEGA.
The link to the folder is here
Beta Release6, 7
Mega again... Until DevDB is back up assume all future releases to be on MEGA for now.

FAQ/Frequent Statements
Q0: When ${THING}?
A0: No ETAs. Don't ask.
Q1: You list my phone above but there isn't a build uploaded, why not?
A1: Haven't gotten around to it yet.
Q2: But when will you get to building it?
A2: Damn it, see Q0/A0.
Q3: How often will builds be produced?
A3: Whenever I get to them and feel like uploading.
Q4: But ${THING} isn't working for me. I cannot live without ${THING}.
A4: Not surprising, nougat is still young. Some features aren't ported and some may still be buggy. Maybe this isn't ready for you yet. And don't cry.
Q5: Xposed?
A5: Don't know. Maybe, maybe not. I'll ignore you if you complain about something and are using Xposed. Not out for nougat yet.
Q6: Can I complain about something?
A6: I'd prefer not, but be prepared for me to ignore you.
Q7: Can I report a bug?
A7: Absolutely. Please mention the kernel version and any additional files you flashed. Create a logcat.
Q8: When will you fix ${THING} that I just reported?
A8: Damn it, see Q0/A0. And if your ${THING} isn't something that bothered me, it probably just got shuffled to the back of the line.
Q9: Can I donate?
A9: Sure! Whatever you can. This takes a lot of time. Apparently not.
Q10: What is this "sdclang" thing?
A10: CM is using a optimized version of the clang/llvm compiler for official builds of Qualcomm devices. I'm using it for my own builds. See these links here and here.
I've depreciated this to move to Clang 3.9 (newer).

Well.... I'd suggest you wait for a while after the reboot.. Then try the internal camera in WhatsApp... That works for me..
Though the camera problem is basically across all aosp builds until Sony or cyanogenmod or someone fixes it...
First of all thanks for your great effort! this rom is amazing.
Well time to report.
First, battery life is quite amazing, over 5 hours of sot. (around 3 in stock rom)
Second, the 64gb sd card won't get recognized... but on the other hands 32 gb one works well.
Regards,
Jerry
P.s. if you would like to solve the camera issue try to dig into @infected_'s repo... His roms had solved the camera problem.

Thanks for the heads up I'll definitely look into it
I'm not sure why the 64 gb cards don't work...
I'm not having issues with my 128gb sd card but it did format it before it would work..
Has it offered to format the sd card?
EDIT: @infected_ also seems to have used the same sonyAOSP repositories for his aosp build...
It's unlikely but maybe a different tool chain might help... I'll check. Also they seem to be all marshmallow builds... That might also be behind their camera working better...
camera isnt working yet on AOSP, on the kitakami/msm8994 family and all others. with some hacks msm8974 was taking pictures, but nothing stable.
regards.

Yikes, that seems really awful. I'd suggest you use naptime for aggressive doze.
You could also try the doze app which stops background data for chosen apps...
With naptime installed you should get much better battery life...

Ok, so I installed Doze, Greenify (without Xposed, hope that it will be compatible with Android Nougat soon ), and NapTime. Without effect, always 2-3% drain per hour.
I realized that my device won't deep sleep, it was always in activity even when I wasn't using it.
I searched for wakelocks, and noticed that Google services were faulty. I disabled some of them after searched online, and it's better
I think without camera, the rom isn't complete. I am waiting for that.

I believe the sim detection in @fergy's rom has been fixed by him.. check the last posts in that thread...
I do honestly believe aosp is doing better than cm-14.1 at the moment, mostly because CMTE hasn't been doing well on the newer CM roms while Substratum is working really well...
I'm uploading a single sim kernel to release 1. Since the Uber builds are being more trouble than help...
Test it and tell me how it goes...

On release 2 (testing) with the Uber toolchain, Open Camera works... however the rom is overall very laggy using uber...
So I'll be looking into other opportunities...

Bugs
- Sometimes, Home button stop working after deep sleep, just reboot or use add fingerprint to got it working again.
- Some random FC messages (2 today) (doesn't affect daily usage).
- Can't share files via Hotspot with Solid Explorer (Classic and Material) Give FC and keeps draining battery in Background even deleting app data and force stop.
- Same with Camera Roll, after opening it keeps draining Battery in Background doesn't matter what.
Avoiding these little things, nothing to reproach. In terms of BB is working better than any Nougat ROMs for me and performance and smoothness is totally decent. Some things doesn't appear in battery drain list (ADM and others little things, nothing to worry) and obviously the three I uninstalled (Solid, Solid Classic and Camera Roll)
By the way, H+ all the day.

Root, Unofficial Snapshot Magisk 14.5.2 by Kantjer. Official should work too without problems.
Only Servicely, but its no really necessary, the ROM by itself have a great BB.
I haven't used Nitrogen since I had the Hammerhead, but damn, this is nice. I'd say the best Oreo alternative so far for our OP3.

Near enough, from what I can tell.
Does the latest version have permissive or enforcing selinux?
Hi all.
Compatibility:
Builds starting with r1 up to r7 are compatible with stock Android Oreo 8.0.0.
Builds starting with r2 are compatible with Android Oreo 8.1.0 custom roms.
Builds starting with r8 are compatible with stock Android Oreo 8.1.0.
Download:
https://francokernel.app
Installation:
Not rooted or using another custom Kernel
1 - Dirty flash your rom
2 - Go through the whole recovery installation procedure
3 - Flash Magisk
4 - Flash the zip in your recovery
Rooted and upgrading FK
1 - Flash the zip in your recovery
or
Auto-flash from Kernel Manager for Franco Kernel -> it's magical
Features:
1 - Legendary battery life
2 - Flash & forget
3 - Typical interfaces like display adjustments, sound control, vibration control, and all that boring stuff
4 - Bypasses the verified boot flag for Android Pay compatibility (root still breaks Android Pay but that's your own problem)
5 - Idle power consumption reduced to the absolute minimum (if you have wakelocks from 3rd party apps you're obviously on your own)
6 - Support for FKUpdater's Performance Profiles
7 - Magical support, I'm here every day, checking posts almost hourly, ready to help anytime (well, unless you fail to read the OP, which contains most info you need)
8 - Seemless integration with my app FKUpdater
9 - No crap placebo patches, or "magical" optimizations
10 - Probably more, check my github for all the details - the code speaks for itself

Disclaimer to moderators:
Slight OT is fine, but when users decide to act stupid they should be dealt with with the appropriate means - its really annoying for me when OT turns crazy. Please put the warning/ban hammer anytime any of you think there's lack of respect and/or too much unwanted OT crap - but if it doesn't meet this criteria let the OT posts alone. Thank you.
Cheers!
Stock rom:
This Kernel doesn't touch WiFi in any shape or form, it uses the built-in WiFi module that's present on stock rom. If you're using a custom Kernel that messes with the WiFi stack (eg. injecting a custom WiFi module) you must dirty flash your rom first to ensure WiFi will work properly. You've been warned.

It shouldn't, mac adress is hw specific, but I don't really know if there's an address randomization - not really my area of expertise, I might be 100% wrong.

That's odd. I think you may be correct. It reverted back to my original mac address from before I flashed the previous kernel I was using. I saw it from an old entry in my router's config page.
By the way. Did you do something to make the device boot faster or am I just experiencing a placebo effect of sorts?

Lineage 16 Troubleshooting with Samsung Apps
/Has anyone encountered problem where some of their Samsung apps wont work. I am having issues with Samsung Messages and Samsung Notes. I use these both for work so its imperative to have these functioning properly. Definitely a necessity. As of right now when opening either app the error i get is "Samsung Notes Keeps stopping". Upon getting this message it prompts me to: A) Open app info or........... B) Close app.
Also wanted to add the these two apps never even open. I simply click app icon and it just get the pop up I just mentioned.
I am currently running Android Pie on GS5 Specs as follows:
Samsung GALAXY S5-
G900T
(Lineage 16 unofficial) BUILD :
lineage_klte-userdebug 9 PPR2. 181005.003462cac0678 test-keys
G-Apps = Aroma
If i have placed this in wrong section can you please direct me to where i should post this. Thank you community.

Sorry for the late reply. This cannot be done because Lineage Os not based on Samsung Touchwiz. The stock camera requires Samsung Touchwiz, which unfortunately cannot work on Lineages Os which is based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP)
Thanks for this rom, which I managed to flash on my Samsung G900F. I met considerable problems, though, and tried several methods (Odin and TWRP). Flashing in TWRP did the trick for me (but only when I did not check the box for verified signature. One problem was that the phone either was stuck on the boot image, and, when I somehow was able to pass that problem, to avoid an endless looping into recovery mode, especially when I flashed the Gapps. It turned out that this package functioned: MindTheGapps-9.0.0-arm-20190615_031401.zip. A remaining problem, however, is that I cannot access Developer Options, even though the devices says it has been activated (I see on the web that this is a known problem). There was also a problem to get the Setup wizard to move on. I deactivated it in the TWRP, but I wonder if the two problems could be linked? (I saw a suggestion to that effect somewhere.) Now I don't get the slighly annoying Wizard saying that I should complete the configuration of the device, but I would rather have it work. I would appreciate to learn about fixes for these issues.

Hi there ,
Is there a possibility to clean install any kind of Android on a S5 smartphone, like how we install windows on our computer by formatting all disks and then installing windows .
A2017X_O_B04_SL!M8
Just for fun....no more no less...
For our dedicated stock users
For those who weren't able to install or obtain the A2017G-O-B04 OTA update, I made a SL!M8 rom (not an AROMA because atm I don't have much time ) that can boot on a working stock Oreo rom.
This version is tested on stock B02 as on my SL!M7 (based on B03). So there should be no problem at all
I hope you'll ENJOY !
Modifications :
* full system r/w
* removed some unwanted apps and the ability to remove more when booted into the rom with a root explorer
* safetynet pass cts will pass when flashing magisk 19.3
* youtube vanced
* adaway 4.2.6
* full working Dolby Atmos
* wifi working...and ofc all the rest
* fastboot working
*.....
Installation : NOTE : for those having trouble installing, flash the twrp 3.2.10 with the universal bootstack (don't forget the modem)
1. unlocked, twrp3218 (non-treble) installed (or compatible one for oreo...)
1.a boot into twrp, format data/factory reset, reboot twrp, wipe system
2. flash A2017GV1.3.0B04_BootStack ( flash your modem type again as this has the latest G-version one )
3. flash A2017X_O_B04_SL!M8
4. flash Magisk 19.3
5. wipe dalvik/cache and boot
6. setup phone
7. you should now have a fully working SL!M8 :cyclops:

I'm currently running the chinese B23 with TWRP, is it possible to flash this over? Or should I flash other rom first?
Also, a bit offtopic suggestion: You should update your camera2api enabler ZIP, because it somehow changes the build name to A2017GV1.3.0B02 on other roms (this happened to me on european B03 and chinese B23 and should also happen on this new B04)

Yes, that's the one. I can live with it as long it doesn't affect the ROM usage (I don't think it does though) but it's up to you.
About the new SL!M8, I'll see if I can flash it tomorrow and give feedback
Thanks for your awesome work.
Q: i installed b03 and cant find double tap to wake anymore. Is the Feature gone since Oreo? I wonder if the bugs im having will be gone with this update (gboard constantly crashes when opening settings so i cant change/add languages, SMS bug / can send but not receive, Turn off screen is not installed even tho i choose it in aroma Installer)
