Hiya,
I just got my cable from expansys, the vga and s-video out is working fine, but i haven't got any thing usb to work yet. I've tried flash Drives and a card reader, just no response, no light or any thing... is there a trick to it or is it not very compatable or is there a chance mine is faulty?
cheers
My guess is that although it is a Host, it does not supply any power, I say this because the battery is only 3.7 V DC and USB devices are 5 V DC, this means that there is not enough Volts in the advantage to power a USB device to start with, never mind powering a USB device and an Advantage at the same time.
You will probably need to plug it into a USB hub that supplies it's own power, like this one
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-2-0-4-Por...106823769QQcategoryZ96866QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I had the same problem but it was because the TV out was still on. Once I turned this off in the settings menu it worked fine.
I too had no trouble hooking up a flash drive. No other peripherals were attached to the cable. Alas, no go on a hard-drive MP3 player, but trying a powered hub is a good idea.
Have you tried connecting your USB device, and then soft resetting?
Works for me.
I have no detection of USB devices by my Advantage.
I tried with and withour Soft Reset before and after the cable connection, before and after the cable and flash drive connection, with or without the VGA or Video Output disabled or enabled, but my Advantage does not recognize any USB device (I tried with 2 flash drive, a keyborad and an optical mouse. Nothing to do. These devices do not work with my Advantage).
It seems that the relative drivers are missing.
Someone has a sure fix or solution to this problem ??
Thanks
Battery Powered USB Hub...
This device should work well with the x7500/Advantage. It doesn't require you to carry around a bulky power plug. It runs off of 4 AAA batteries and provides power for up to 4 USB devices. Since the x7500/Advantage has limited power and can't power external drives itself, this is a nice addition and cheap. Hope someone finds it useful.

I have the Dopod U1000. I have connected a thumb drive and a USB mouse without issue. The mouse is useless as far as I can tell as there is no pointer though the buttons work.
I have no problems with a T-Mobile Ameo and a 1Gb Corsair USB Flashdrive - don't even need a soft reset. It's listed as 'Hard Disk' on the Ameo.
Question though: can I just unplug it when done? I'm used to 'safely removing hardware' on the PC, and it just feels wrong unplugging it from the Ameo, but I can't see any similar 'safely remove' method.
Hi.
It depends of the usb device. My 1GB pen drive is recognized but my 4GB isnt recognized (my 160 GB isnt). So I suppose If the usb device isnt powered then only "very low powered" devices are recognized...
If I connect my 160 GB and I plug it to AC then It is recognized correctly...
Does mini usb-usb host cable exist? Where to buy it?
THX!
Look this one http://www.pixmania-pro.it/it/it/255677/art/cowon-iaudio/cavo-usb-host.html#
seems to be what I'm looking for...don't you?

Search the forum for the Modaco Mouse driver. It has a mouse pointer and works flawlessly with a USB Mouse!

Hi,
I have the HTC 4 in 1 cable for the T-Mobile Ameo (HTC Advantage 7500) and the ability to access a USB thumbdrive or stick appears to depend on the device.
The following devices worked without a hitch:
- Kingston DataTraveler 1GB
- Q motion 1 GB
- SanDisk MobileMate SD+ (This a SD card reader in a USB stick format, very handy to copy data from a SD/miniSD/microSD card to your 7500 without going through Activesync)
Another noname USB stick that I had did not work.
So the trick is to find a low powered USB stick.
Cheers,
Tim
Please can someone give me some exaples about how could I use
Video/S-Video/ option in 4 in 1 cable, considering that I can image how to properly use VGA out and USB host?
THX so much!
Hi,
before I buy it, could it work?
USB 2.0 (compatible 1.x)
Adapter USB from Type A (female) to mini USB 5pin (male)
THX so much!

Yes, that should work for you. I'm sure it's not more than $5.00 USD. ;-)

Are you hoping to connect USB accessories to your Athena with this?
If so, it will not work.
Only the 4 in 1 Host cable connected to the ext USB socket will do that.
This adaptor will only connect to the Sync & Charge socket, and will not provide USB Host capabilities.

So it will not provide me host function...?
Than the HTC cable should have something like a "chip" in it to provide host, is it right?
Yes, the USB Host chip must be either in the addon cable, or linked to the extUSB socket in the Athena. But definitely not the sync & charge socket.
I'm considering to add a powered hub to my Hui because i want to connect a usb flash drive, a dab dongle, a hard disk and maybe a wifi dongle and i want to charge my cellphone.
Right now i have an unpowered USB hub connected to my usb storage port 1. When i connect 2 usb sticks to the hub only one is detected in android, when i also connect my dab dongle, my dongle works. When i remove the USB sitck which is not working and i plug it in my USB 2 storage its also not found ( in root explorer a white icon appears before the name "usb_storage2").
Can some one explain me why the USB storage devices are not mounted / found in android? Is it even possible to add more than 2 storage devices or USB devices to our Hui? Or do i have to mount a third USB storage device manually?? Or is it because o the less of power??
I don't think android currently supports more then one USB data device. I know there are workarounds but I have not tried any. Most of these devices come with at least one sd slot so I think most (myself included) just live with the one usb limit.
Hello, i've bought a galaxy note 5 a week ago. N920C, international version, Marshmallow 6.0.1, not rooted. I was able to get a 32gb variant only, i though that's not a problem, i will increase my storage via USB OTG with Micro SD card reader or USB Flash stick! Today i received all the parts, i've spent whole day trying to find out why it doesn't work, i've downloaded many apps to check OTG compatibility and driver condition. My device recognises the connection when i put in USB OTG cable only - when the screen is off, i connect OTG, screen lights up. Also throubleshooting apps say the same, the device knows when OTG is connected.
The occuring problem : when my phone is connected with OTG cable, i also connect my USB Flash stick / SD card reader / mouse / keyboard / another usb flash stick --> Nothing appears on the screen, file managers show nothing and the troubleshooter stops at recognised OTG cable. Other connection tests won't pass any further. Troubleshooter conclusion - "System NOT Detect USB OTG Signal"; (App name: USB OTG Checker).
After buying a decent high-end device i expect it to have availability to expand storage space via USB OTG, although it was written in phone's specification list. 90% of note 5 devices on the internet say it is working perfectly and i would like to get mine going too :|
Hi, I'm connected via the stock Samsung cable to a USB3.1 port running Windows 10 onto a fast Samsung NVMe internal drive. Latest Samsung drivers installed. Transfers from the phone (S10e SD) are averaging about 50MB/sec. I was expecting a lot higher speed. An SSD in USB 3.0 enclosure and good USB stick are transferring the same large files at 400+ & 200+, but the phone is barely above USB 2.0 speed. Am I missing something?
Sorry for the bump but i could confirm that the super tiny and short USB cable in the box is 2.0... I don´t understand why...It is that the cable was in the original S10 box otherwise i thought it was a cheap clone... It works great with USB 3.0 cables from Ugreen but you need to buy it by yourself...
I would assume you have USB 3.0 support on your computer if you have an NVME drive. If that's the case, have you checked the drivers for your USB slots that use 3.0 on your Windows 10 machine?
When you say transfer with other devices do you mean transferring to/from your phone or to/from your computer?
Yes, RyZen rig with properly functioning USB. SSD in a USB enclosure transfers same files at over 400MB/sec. Phone is slow in both directions. This is from internal storage, not micro SD. Hopefully this isn't "normal" for this device, I was looking forward to upgrading this speed over my USB 2.0 S7.
I tried another cable, same result. Then I ordered up some cables that were explicitly touted as USB 3.0 cables, and had blue connectors. Transfer speed jumped WAY up. It appears the cable Samsung provides is USB 2.0 only. Lame of Samsung to skimp out on the cheapest part in the box & make their flagship look bad in the process. Well, at least the stock cable will do fine as a car charging wire.
Hello all,
Does anyone have any experience with external NVMe to USB-C enclosures? I have a 512GB NVMe M.2 that I am using with a "Sabrent USB 3.1 Aluminum Enclosure for M.2 NVMe". It works beautifully on my PC on both USB 3.0 and USB-C. I formatted it to exFAT which i could access on my phone before but when I connect the Sabrent it only recognises a device that it provides power to and nothing else.
I tried it on my wife's Galaxy S9 and it appeared for a few seconds. Long enough for the phone to show the correct name of the manufacturer and for the volume to show up under "Files" but then it disappeared and I could not get it to connect again. I tried using a USB-C to USB-C device to no avail. It is as if it doesn't exist except for the light coming on. The enclosure itself works perfectly with my laptop.
Thanks in advance
i had similar problem with a usb 2 enclosure. Turns out phone didnt have enough power to power the hard drive. I managed to get a split usb cable, used that to connect enclosure to phone and battery pack

Thanks @imy300. The phone is perfectly capable of powering an enclosure with a 1TB SSD drive but not one with a 512GB NVMe one!
Now to find a split cable to test this
