Seeing as I am coming from a Samsung smartphone, I am very used to flashing bootloaders and modems when flashing Roms.
My question is if there is anything similar I would need to do when flashing/updating a rom on the Huawei p9, as soos as the Rom development kicks off.
Hi Devs,
I'm new to Huawei brand and considering jumping onto the P10 Plus....Yes, i know, this is the DEV board for the P9, but I have a reason I've posted here, as I wanted to reach devs familiar with Huawei and existing flagship models.
I noticed Huawei released the open source kernal for the P9 Plus which is now roughly 1 year old. I am curious to get your thoughts on whether or not you think the manufacturer PLANS to release the open source kernal for the P10 plus to allow for unlocking the bootloader and rooting? I'm potentially switching from LGE since there's next to NO dev community or support from the manufacturer on their phones including their flagships).
MODS: Apologies if this needed to be posted in the P9 Discussion forum - but my intention is for this post and thread to be seen by devs who have worked with their P9. Please allow some time before moving
If they released it then why we don't see custom ROM's so far ? Isn't enough ?
Huh?
Open source kernal Android 6.0 for P9 plus:

Hi everyone,
Apologies for my noob question, I'm a former Windows Phone user who is going to buy his second Android phone (upgrading from the A1).
When I buy the MI 8 right now, it's going to be the Chinese version (with English language support). Is it officially supported to "upgrade" the ROM to the international version when it becomes available? It's ok if I would need to reset the phone (lose all data/apps etc.) But my concern is that it will be a "hack" with no official support for updates later on.
Also, is it difficult to do that upgrade? (I'm a developer, so I have a tech background but I've never juggled with Android ROMs since my A1 came with the international ROM)
Thanks!!
J
Hi,

I have installed the xiaomi eu miui 10 version and seems that all work ok
Hi MIUIers, especially Redmi S2/Y2 users!
First of all, it took some times to get the information right while we were guessing about the future of 64-bit ROM for Redmi S2 and Y2. It's just because we are aware about the future of 32-bit ROM that might have reduced support starting this August. That's the reason why we put "In Review" stamp to the most popular thread. We were seeking or rather waiting for MIUI Developers confirmation.
For us, whatever happens happens, and unfortunately sad and bad news comes to us. Today we just got confirmation that there will be no 64-bit ROM for Redmi S2 and Redmi Y2 both China ROM and Global ROM. While we don't have any follows up about the exact reason, there might a good reason why they decided to not to release it.
Because by releasing 64-bit ROM, it could not delivered through OTA because to migrate to 64-bit ROM to perform clean flash that require format data is mandatory. Therefore to unlock bootloader is needed as well. Not to mention that to do all the process also much riskier for general users.
We just want you to know that we feel sorry for this kind of situations and could not help further since it's a final decision by developers. While this decision might hurt you, we can assure you that your device is still supported with further update.
Regards.

Dear moderator, kindly close this thread. We have successfully booted into 64bit ROM for this device. As we all know XDA is meant for mods. This is an official statement and unnecessary in here. Already there's a thread regarding the 64bit ROM above. Please close this thread as it may cause confusion to people. I am one of the beta tester of @Peak.Krittin He was the one who developed this ROM. Here's the proof for that:
Hey, I'm extremely new to this community and I was wondering if there's a way to get Android Oreo onto my honor 5c with treble support.
The internet says nothing about it, so I decided to ask directly to the community.
If it isn't available, oh well. Rip. Are there any ROMs worth switching to on the honorr 5c?
