How to root the Mediatek (XT1770) version? - Moto E4 Plus Questions & Answers

Just got myself a E4 Plus and yes I've noticed the method already, but it seems a bit complicated. Do i need TWRP permanently, can't i just boot into its interface and flash SuperSU zip. or something? And Magisk doesn't work?
Thanks in advance.

Systemless root + magisk

Guys I'm looking for someway to clean flash 4.1.1 OOS and then get root with magisk and all the safetynet related stuff. Oh, also I should disable the dm-verity warning.
Only I can't find any guide to show me that, anyone who can explain in detail?
Thanks in advance

You'll need TWRP installed, so if you haven't got that already, unlock the bootloader and fastboot flash TWRP.
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery <filename>.img
There's plenty of guides around on how to set up fastboot.
After that it's just a matter of flashing the full OTA in TWRP and after that the Magisk zip. Magisk will disable dm-verity.
Install the Magisk Manager, enable Magisk Hide and you're done.

So I rooted with magisk, no problem but one: I still get the dm-verity warning on boot.
Tried flashing no-verity-opt-encrypt 5.1 but nothing (actuality I don't even know how that works). Help for this? Thanks guys

Is it dm-verity or unlocked bootloader warning? They're different...

The one that goes "the dm-verity is (or is not?) started in enforcing mode and may not work properly", and then there's red text...
here you go:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/fix-dm-verity-warning-final-fix-4-0-3-t3555094
You can also flash a custom kernel that has dm-verity disabled.
Ok then
Done with that too
Thanks a lot! <3

TWRP and Magisk help

Hi everyone.
So I had a moto x4 for about year and a half before fricking up the charging port. So I recently acquired another one. Everything went smoothly the first month or so, with twrp properly installed and magisk too, but then I tried to install a magisk module and the phone bricked. I tried restoring via twrp backup but it didn't work and I ended up in a bootloop. So I flashed a stock rom. And when I wanted to install twrp it just didn't stick after a reboot and magisk would just get my phone stucked on the splashscreen.
I realized that, for whatever reason, a previous version of magisk would work (magisk 18.1) but I've no idea why. Magisk 18.1 is the only version that works. If I flash any other version from twrp my phone gets stuck on the splashscreen, same if I update magisk via magisk manager. And if I try to install any magisk module my phone won't start. But root permission works fine on other apps i.e. system app uninstaller, root explorer or swift installer.
Does anyone have any idea? It'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

How can I switch from superSU to Magisk in a custom ROM with supersu root built-in?

First, hello everyone and thank you for your time.
Im pretty new about rooting and magisk, so im sorry if i am asking something that is very obvious.
I recently rooted my Huawei Honor 3C. Installed TWRP and flashed some custom ROMs I found on XDA. The problem is that i need to change from superSU root to Magisk root in a custom ROM that is built-in superSU root. Can someone explain me how can i do this?
I have tried to flash unSu.zip and flash magisk.zip, but I got this error: 'Unsupported/Unknown image format'
Thank you so much!

Need help installing TWRP with Magisk

Hello everyone!
I just rooted my Galaxy A30 using Magisk. From what I have understood in my experience rooting this. This phone doesn't have a ramdisk so Magisk basically only boots when I do the recovery key combo. So I was wondering, Is it possible to install TWRP on this device since Magisk is basically hijacking the recovery to run. If it is possible, could someone guide me on how to install it while preserving Magisk?
Thanks in advance
The only way is installing TWRP via Odin. And then flash Magisk.zip

I used:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-root-moto-g6-ali-twrp-root-and-magisk-installation-guide.3816569/page-41.
It worked out well. As long as you have TWRP, you should be able to recover from bootloops.

Update March 23, 2019: I'd like to apologize to everyone. It looks like I am not going to be able to actively keep this thread updated like I used to. I have had too much going on at home an work and it doesn't look like it's going to settle...

Also, I do not think you need the boot images. Check the comments for pie, since the guide was written for oreo.

How did you install? A lot of older guides say to flash magisk, but I did it through the apk, as that's what magisk recommends.
Also did you get recovery to work. From my experience, it's generally not good to proceed without recovery, as it is harder to recover from boot loops and other issues.

I had a copy of the system previously made, but after rebooting into the system it only turned on twrp, I had to upload the firmware again via smart assistant. First I did a wipe, then I installed no verify and magisk but later it did not boot system but it returned to twrp. I searched 1000 pages for .img to moto g6 android 9.0 Is it possible to downgrade to android 8.0 without root? I have no idea how to root on this anymore. my model is XT1925-5.
