Hello,
I have a brand new Fire HD 10 (2017), 5.6.0.1, rooted. The stock Kindle app got updated via Google Play and will not run. I've uninstalled the Kindle app and installed the Google play version. I have also deleted all apps with "kindle" in their name and then installed the Google play version. Neither attempt worked.
How can I get the Kindle app working?
Thanks in advance!

If you only updated it, then find it in the Google Play Store and choose Uninstall. That will roll it back to the original version.
Hello I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on whether I can install a custom rom (Jelly Bean 4.3) on my Amazon Kindle Fire 7" HD, I have rooted it and installed Superuser, Titanium Backup etc. I have been reading instructions all over the web but I am a bit scared to try anything yet with certain things I have read.
To install a custom rom I know you need to install a 2nd-Bootloader and TWRP, but in this tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909 it says "This tutorial DOES NOT work for the 2013 HD model, only for the 2012 model. Following the guide with the newer model WILL CAUSE your heart to race after doing so because you'll end up with red screens and/or bootloops. So please, don't do it.".
Well I bought my Amazon Kindle Fire 7" HD in August 2013, does that mean that my Kindle is a 2013 model? if so where can I go from here? any advice would be great
Thank you.
Here's a way to find out, post the os version that it's running, that is a sure fire way to tell if it's 2012 or 2013.

Then you are using a 2012 model. You can go ahead and as the second bootloader.

I'm wanting to install the latest Android, that's KitKat 4.4 right? Where would be the best place to download the official team rom? Without many issues. And what guide/video do you think I should follow? Thanks
OK so here is the guide I recommend using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
2 thing I want you to know ahead of time before doing this, if you don't check the box with the warning text about flashing the boot loader(should be the very first check box) you will get a kindle that when turns on displays a red screen and requires a fastboot cable to fix so make sure to check that box. 2nd thing to mention is put the ROM on the kindle first, if you Don't and the current freedomboot image isn't up to date with the latest amazon os version, then you will boot loop upon reboot and can only get into recovery and its a pain to transfer the ROM in from there if you aren't familiar with adb. I think the latest freedomboot is up to date now though but I'm not sure.
Also the cm for our devices isn't official yet, make sure to get the gapps that go along with it. Anyways here's the ROM link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543455

I have install the rom, now how do I get my books and apps back?
Well books from the amazon store I think you can read with an amazon kindle app(in don't read much besides manga on my kindle so I never used their bookstore, but on my kindle with cm 10.1 that app keeps crashing, might work on a newer version of cm though, think I read it about somewhere on then forum), as for apps purchased in the amazon store you could get them back with the Amazon appstore app, I don't have it anymore, but I think I got it from their website. Otherwise just redownload anything from the Google market you didn't purchase in the amazon app store.

Hey guys,
my girlfriend is owner of a Kindle Fire HD (kfsowi) i wish to root it, cause we wanna use our chromecast and google play.
I rooted some devices before and it worked like a charming for me. Sadly I didn't found anything about routing the actuall version 4.5.5.
I did a fastboot cable by myself and it works, the kindle goes into it.
Thanks a lot

Search for KFSOWI modding community on google +,and search for kindle fire hd 2013(KFSOWI,Soho) on the xda developers website
My father has a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" (3rd Generation) and it is currently running the system version of 8.5.1_user_5159720. I am not sure what version of Fire OS or Android this is based on but, I am wondering how to install the google play store on this thing. The menu for this thing is so bad and hard to navigate. Any help would be appreciated. If you know that this has been answered before just point me in the direction and I'll close this thread.
Thanks in advance.

Based on the info provided I suspect the device is a 2nd gen HD (not a 3rd gen HDX). You'll need to go here for support.
You will need to root and install TWRP. I have an 8.9 and was unable to get the Google APKs to work together, no matter where you install them. You appear to have the Kindle HD 8.9 JEM. you can go here for my guide to root, TWRP and ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ki.../guide-root-custom-recovery-roms-jem-t3696244
Hi everybody,
I'm trying to install Google's Play Store on a brand new Fire 7 (2019) running Fire OS 6.3.0.1. I used the following guide: How to install Google Play Store on Amazon Fire Tablet: Fire 6, Fire 7, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10? and installed the following four APKs:
Code:
Google Account Manager 5.1-1743759 (Android 5.0+)
Google Services Framework 5.1-1743759 (Android 5.1+)
Google Play services 14.7.99 (020400-223214910) (020400)
Google Play Store 12.8.23-all [0] [PR] 224256688 (nodpi)
Installation worked and I was able to login into my Google account successfully. But now the Google Play-Services want to update and when I click on update, I get:
Code:
Download pending...
And there it stalls. A reboot, clearing cache and data didn't do anything. Anybody already got the Play Store up and running an can provide hints and tips? Thanks in advance!
I used these 4 apps installed in the order it told me and i didn't have any issues.

Just sent you a private message with a link with the exact (4) i used. These have worked on all my fire tablets (fire7-2019, fire7-2015, 8hd-2018, 10hd-2017). I am not sure about your issue. Maybe a factory reset. these were working without root too. I installed them mostly before rooting.
