Phone becomes locked to carrier with first SIM insertion - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I am very annoyed. I bought a P20 Pro in Twilight from Car Phone Warehouse, in the UK; it arrived yesterday. On first boot it showed Huawei 1st and 2nd splash screens. All subsequent boots with a Three network SIM installed all show the 2nd boot screen as a pig-ugly Three logo. Shutdown is the same.
Its a bit like me buying a broadband service from British Telecom. And as soon as I connect up my router, they send a man round to repaint my front door with their logo! How can this be?

But there's more; my browser home-page was set to Three; why-on-Earth? Who in their right mind would want Three as a Homepage? Doh! And they also scattered a few odds and sods of applications for me to remove.
I had a look around and it seems there is a 'cust' folder at / which has stuff to decide if its EE O2 Vodafone or Three. And it crams cr-a-p in you do not want or need.
Removing the Three SIM and trying an O2 SIM did not remove the Three banding. So that means if I wanted to sell it at some point next year I would l would not get as much as if it were free of the THREE grot..
Today, I took my phone back and got a refund. But I've got a complaint running with Three and I'll take it all the way to the Ombudsman. I'll also contact the THREE CEO. I also include contact details from Companies House for their CEO for anyone else who may wish to direct their displeasure at a phone being defiled in this way.

How do the Telecoms get away with this sh-i-t?

Did you buy it as being on the 3 network with a 3 SIM? It is annoying as CPW phones are normally unlocked but it is no different than if you had bought it direct from 3 - is it?

I bought mine in CPW and so such problems, had Vodafone and EE sums in it.

No I bought it as a SIM free (thus unlocked) phone.

Is it actually sim locked to carrier or network branded to carrier. Hopefully just the latter as I've got 2 the first one once I inserted a O2 sim then restarted and downloaded a few O2 apps but no O2 splash screen. I've not tried inserting my Vodafone sim yet, really hoping its not simlocked to O2.
Sorry off topic but I made a question about shortcuts in the question and answers section. It's just a simple question, but i dont think anyone will bother to answer. Just wondering if someone could take a look and try and help me. Thread is just called shortcuts. Thanks lol.

And as a bit extra. I do not use Facebonk; never have; never will. And reading the news today about Suckerburg, in a while no-one will. But if you look under Apps there are three Facebonk system level apps running in addition to the one in the app drawer that I immediately removed, when setting up the phone. They are busy collecting your data no doubt. They can be disabled. But I'm starting to dislike Huawei.
They're all at it, though. I have Sony TV. I don't use Netflix; prefer to torrent; but my TV is calling Home to Netflix all the while even when 'off'!

Hopefully neither!!! if you bought it as SIM free no-one has any right to defile your property with their branding!

The Phone remains unbraded, even if it looks like that. Just do a factory reset and insert a SIM from another carrier and it's going to install it's apps and customizations as a so-called "Firmware Update". The carrier customizations are installed alongside the regular OTA Updates, so you even won't have to wait for updated customizations if a FW update becomes available This is part of the deal between Huawei and the different carriers to keep phones branding-free and still be able to push apps and other carrier-specific optimizations to the phones. Like it or hate it, it's up to you.

Well that's not a European phone but Asia/Pacific. It works .... mainly ... but in the countryside you may have problems as the long range 800 and 850 MHz bands are missing. Did you know when you bought it that it wasn't for this region?
And did you get problems signing in for Huawei ID?

Three phones are supplied unlocked, so it hasn't been simlocked.
Factory reset should remove branding.

Firstly it wasn't a Three phone! I bought it SIM free from CPW - an independent retailer of phones as far as I am aware.
And secondly, no, when it was factory reset it retained the Three branding. In the CPW shop the assistant put an O2 SIM in the phone and it still remained Three on the splash screen.

if I understand Aavion he's saying the branding will disappear after a while. But that only happens for the big four Telecoms. If you've a Virgin or GiffGaff or Tesco SIM in what happens then? I bet your life the phone will remain on the last brand recognized.
So we know the C782 is branded. We know that some bums are selling C636s seemingly VAT free from Hong-Kong and Ireland. And they remain unbranded but compromised; they do not have either 800 or 850 Mhz radio bands - the longer wavelengths that penetrate buildings and give a better reception, and very necessary in the UK.

My c782 is not carrier branded. It's sim locked to three ireland as I bought from then. After 140 euro of top ups, I can get sim unlock code for free.

Mine was purchased through O2 directly online, it has no branding, and it currently using an EE sim card.
I would place the blame with either 3 or carphone not Huawei.

My C782, was bought online for an O2 contract but branded itself 3 when I put my other contract's 3 sim in.
The branding is in the Cust folder in root. It has folders for EE, 3, O2, Virgin & Vodafone, although the 3 folder is the only one with a custom bootanimation in it. I don't know if this is because the others were deleted when the branding took place or if 3 is the only network that changes the bootanimation, you'd have to unpack a C782 rom to see.
Unlocking the bootloader appeared to produce a full reset, including clearing internal memory (at least it did on mine), so one would imagine that relocking, unlocking (& maybe flashing new update) would return the phone to unbranded. Unfortunately I unlocked the bootloader before putting the 3 sim in, so I don't know

Dear Dave,
I wouldn’t normally have the temerity to address a Chief Executive by his given name; I see you post it around the Three website though, so I trust it will be acceptable to you; accept my apologies if not, Dave.
I write about my experience with Three over the past 9 months and recently. Forgive my long-windedness, my style and any poor erudition you may discern. I wish to appraise you of all circumstances fully. I would imagine any CEO with his/her finger on the pulse of their business would gladly accept raw customer feedback.
I will start, out of sequence, with recent happenings. This is going to be very raw – I’m very still angry. My prose may betray me.
On Tuesday of this week I ordered an Huawei P20 Pro phone from Car Phone Warehouse. I bought it SIM free and paid nigh on £800 for its bright-shiny newness. It was a wondrous thing to behold and I began to like it immediately. I placed my Three, monthly contract, SIM in and switched on. During set-up I was a little concerned to find an application open; one of yours which required me to accept something or other. I did not wish anything of Three on my phone but could find no way of going forward in the set-up process. So I shut the phone down and restarted. I don’t suppose you can imagine my consternation, my growing anger, my rage even, when I saw a Three logo on the second splash screen of boot-up.
When I was able to look closely at MY phone if was littered with your, (well, Three’s; I’m using ‘your’ and ‘you’ for the Three body corporate; I’ll leave you to interpret), dross…. My phone was littered with your dross. My browser had been redirected to always start on Three! There was a Wuntu app and I guess a Candy-Crush wannabe also littering my phone for which I had no need. You’ll no doubt say customers like this. No Dave, we don’t!
I do have to ask the questions. Why? When did I give Three permission to do this? Why can’t I remove all it? Apps and the home screen setting went easily enough. The splash screen was written in to place with system wide permissions and only apps signed with an Huawei key can do this, as you know. So that means you conspired with Huawei to do this to me! You had meetings about it; you thought it would be a - ‘good idea’. For whom? Who in their right mind would ever imagine, even in the wildest depths of stupor that phone users would like to have a crass, badly drawn figure 3, looking as if it has dragon scales, to adorn their phone. All displayed on the brightest eye-screwingly bright-whiteness. I really cannot fathom the stupidity; the arrogance, the paternalism you must exhibit to allow you to make these assumptions for me, Simply crass, Dave, on your part in 2018. And be in no doubt, ‘you’ and ‘your’ here refers to the personal you.
To be be clear, Dave, I bought a phone from an independent retailer, I purposely avoided Three stores and, excuse me, I don’t normally revert to the vernacular but it seems the only way to express my rage, I find your **** all over my phone! How can this be? By what right do you do this?
Imagine for moment you have changed broadband supplier at home. (I mean ‘you’ the person here. I’m sure you get it.) The new router arrives and you connect up, you enter the password and start web-surfing. A moment or two later a van pulls up outside and workmen start to repaint the front door of your house in the colours of the broadband provider’s logo. But more, the workmen enter your house, unasked, and reset your computer to always start at the broadband providers home page in the style of the now defunct AOL and Compuserve. But, still more, the workmen then proceeded to place scatter cushions with cartoon prints around the sitting room.
I imagine you would be outraged at the defiling of your home in this way.
I am outraged that Three has defiled my phone. I am so outraged that the phone was returned to CPW for a refund yesterday.
What can you take away from this, Dave? Well, I note you are one of those policy-on-paper guys. It’s so easy isn’t it. You have an 11 o’clock with a few other execs – they’re only a bit younger than me I see and likely over-the-hill too. You all throw something together that you think will impress the punters; you put it out there and go to lunch. But you’ve forgotten it all since haven’t you, Dave?
What is your policy now? What is it that your mission statement says?
Let me show you part of it:-

A factory reset and a non Three SIM inserted did not remove your splash logo on start-up and shutdown. So straight our away the phone has it’s second-hand sale value reduced significantly. Your decision did that; responsible; ethical, you think? Respecting human rights; do you? My right is to have a phone as I bought it; all I buy from you is airtime and the carriage of my data packets, that’s all; nothing more. Do that and you might begin to be ethical and make things better for people, but at the moment you are just dishing out grief.
To #makeitright I suggest you ask one of your developers to write an app to remove your pernicious dreadful defiling dross. Get the app written; release it into the wild and apologise. Go on #makeitright!
And while I’m talking about #makeitright, why is it that the data rate for a text message or multimedia messages per megabyte costs tens or hundreds of times the cost of a IP data per megabyte. I’ve never understood why you do that; ethical, responsible? No, I don’t think so; and I bet you don’t too. Go on Dave, #makeitright!
To continue about making things better; who on earth designed your logo? Was it even designed professionally? There are no two ways about it, Dave, it is ugly and to me, meaningless. I hope you didn’t pay much for it! The blooming thing is a lighthouse consuming God-knows-what number of milli-Watts before the phone’s brightness control comes on stream. It blasts the screen with full power to every red, green and blue light emitting diode. (Yes, I had an OLED screen.) That’s really clever of Three isn’t- help deplete the battery for no good reason; (that’s irony there, Dave). Save battery! Invert the colours! Save lives! Invert the colours! (Wasn’t there a French hostage recently too afraid to turn her phone on, fearing the screen light would be spotted by her captor?) But you haven’t thought around this have you? You’ve been there long enough in Maidenhead though. Shame on you. Perhaps you’ve risen to peak incompetence – I don’t want to be be rude but people in Human Systems sometimes do get to a level and coast along in a fuddle. Is that you now, Dave?
So – where did we get to. We decided you are a policy-on-paper sort of guy, rather than actually putting policy into action. I don’t suppose anything I say will get you to change. People don’t generally. But optimism drives me to give it a go!
Guys on xda-developers.com tell me that only Three in the UK customize the Huawei splash screens with their logo. I wonder why the others were so constrained? What do they know that you don’t,, Dave? Perhaps they are more policy-in-practice people – do you think that might be it? Perhaps they listen to their customers, Dave. Could that be it?
Now I started my rambling whinge, for this is what it is, saying that all the dross you’ve been putting my way started 9 months ago. I was in New Zealand visiting my grandchildren when my phone rang in the middle of the night (New Zealand is 13 hours ahead, remember). Next morning a web-search revealed it was your lot; making a sales call I suppose. And it kept on happening.
My sister, back in the UK, was quite ill at the time and I needed to check who was calling because the call could be important. But Three kept ringing me nightly – 2 or 3 am. Each time I duly refused the call. Eventually I downloaded a call blocker. But that did little good because you’ve got many conjugations of number endings for your call-centre. So I might block 0333 338 1021 but next time the last two-digits would be something else. So all that repeated calling you do when calls are declined, ‘ethical’ is it, Dave, in your book?
Repeated calling in the middle of the night; ‘using innovation to make things better for our people, customers and communities’. Could Three not detect I was roaming, Dave? Did no-one there ever think that calls might be a nuisance in different time zones, Dave? (Dave, know this: I, and many other people, always find them intrusive, I’m a pro-active consumer, Dave. I tell you what I want. I don’t want you telling me; ever.) Whenever I sign-up anywhere I always refuse marketing. Its academic now, the GDPR will close your abuse-of-process down. From today your customers can set the dogs on you; and about time too.
But you are a policy-on-paper guy. You don’t have to worry about all this do you? The web page looks lovely; that’ll get the punters in! You’ve got to have come from a PR/Marketing background haven’t you? You are not like normal people. I met a woman once who was a rep for a pet food company. She really believed her products were superior to those of her company’s competitors. Is that it, Dave? Do you think Three is superior? Let reality bite, mate. Take a user-trip around Three as any customer might. You’ve never done that, have you?
I walked into a Three shop today and discovered that because I’m SIM only I don’t get access to your 800MHz band; ‘4G Voice’ I think he called it. Why, Dave? My money not good enough? Why am I on a second-class tier with less signal strength in buildings and in the wilds than those Three users who bought a Three phone? That cannot be right, Dave, can it? You are not really ‘respecting human rights’ by discriminating against me, are you. (I agree, a bit of a stretch this one but I could probably make a good case if I gave it some thought.)
Ah! I just had a thought. The FCC in the USA, most likely on the payroll of the corporates, are trying to get a two-speed internet; pay more and go faster; is that what you are planning Dave? Some businesses in the USA want it; the thinking populace at large doesn’t and they cynically know they will get no benefit, just increased prices and slower routing. They will be screwed!

I know things didn’t go too well with your OFCOM appeal, Dave, and you only have a tiny bit of 800MHz spectrum you got from EE. Shame! Are you trying to make a feature of the mess you are in and the tiny bit of bandwidth you have? “Let’s call it ‘4G Voice’ and no one will know what it is and we can use it for sales pitches to the undecided. ‘If you buy our phone, Madam, we’ll give you free 4G Voice!’”
Voice-over-WiFi that kicks in when the phone signal is weak was a discovery on the Huawei too. You’ve been with-holding that from me as well. And that is not justifiable either Dave. Ethical, responsible? No; not Three.
I engaged your complaints procedure two days ago. I found myself interacting with Resolver.com. Well, OK, you’ve farmed complaints out; saves getting down and dirty doesn’t it? I made a complaint about unwanted Three branding defiling my property. The quite-serious complaint I’ve already explained to you was sent off. I received a message back the following day asking for name, address and phone number. All that information I gave the day before and was on the form that Resolver returned, printed plainly as part of the message. Clearly the handler decided to bat the case away for someone else to deal with. It happens. On my watch they would be helped to find employment suitable for their aptitude. Also, though, I was asked for my Date of Birth. I refused to give it. All the stuff I was being asked is exactly the kind of information hackers use to take over an identity. And I know nothing of Resolver.com and their bona fides. Now with GDPR you might think a bit more about the stuff you ask for. I would be identifiable to Three well enough from my name and telephone number; the last four digits of my bank account, the account which you debit monthly, would prove it was I. A small system change made by Three now and a future data leak at Resolver.com becomes less concerning. Got anyone in IT thinking about this? They probably do and already have. You look a fun guy though, I guess the golf course beckons quite often so you don’t get to hear wise counsel all that much. You’ve written your policy – and – well - the place runs itself doesn’t it?
And finally, today I contacted Three for a PAC code. Annie, bless her, was in an Indian call centre. She couldn’t understand me and I couldn’t understand her. Oh!! What a time we had, Annie and I! If communications engineering is your thing, then you’ll know preventing extraneous signal noise is vital. The noise on the channel this time though was not about signal processing, but simply human variation and accents, plus age-related hearing loss, all conspiring to make verbal communication difficult and stressful. When eventually she accepted I really was wanting to be away from Three I got passed to Rama; with slightly better English pronunciation and clarity of speech. But she too thought I might want to stay. Reading all the foregoing you might understand when I ask ‘why, in their right mind, would anyone want to’?
What do I take away from this? Huawei and the big four UK Telcoms are doing deals with each other that impinge on my rights and resale value of my phone; Huawei and the big four are to be avoided. The others of the ‘big four’ are not nearly so evil as Three. I judge people and businesses by what they do not what they say they do. More vernacular coming; I’m still raging.
I was only paying you 15 quid a month so I’m of no consequence. Enjoy your 9 holes of golf and lunch but kindly know you’ll **** on me no longer. But, for heaven’s sake, put your company policy into action and think a little bit, would you, Dave!

Wow, that's quite the opus! Looking forward to seeing what sort of response you get. I bought directly from Three but still unhappy about having the branding and the crappy apps foisted on me, not really much room to complain though.

AT&T Wont let me Return my Tilt!!!

I purchased the phone about a month ago, from the day I purchased it the camera did not operate correctly. I took my device to the store in an attempt to get it replaced with a new one. Unfortunately for me my camera just happened to work that day which was also the last day of the 30 day warranty. The guy pretty much said that he couldnt help me because my device worked, but then he gave me this number saying that if there is any further problems they will take care of it. So I call the ATT warranty department the next day (my camera broke again) and they said that they were sending me a REFURBISHED phone. I talked with them for 2 hours and they pretty much sait there is nothing they can do.
So I get this refurbished phone and right out of the box it looks of poor quality, I later find out that no matter what I do, the device will not charge. So I send in for another refurb which is of even worse condition and this one wont sync to my PC.
Do any of you guys have any ideas that could help I called the warranty department and coustomer care TWICE, asked to speak to both supervisors, threatened to change my entire family's service and they dont reply with anything except that the phone can not be replaced with a new phone. What do you think I should do?

u need to speak to managers and managers only, throw a fit make a scene in the store they'll work with u!
Learn from your mistake so you don't repeat it in the future. If you have an issue with a phone within the 30 day period, make sure it's fully taken care of within that time frame. Unfortunately you took some clerk's word for what would happen instead of double checking yourself.
AT&T most likely isn't going to do anything more from you. They have pretty good customer service and retention, but it is within their rights to give you a refurbished phone.
I also find it hard to believe that they shipped you two refurbished phones that right out of the box appeared to be of "poor quality." If the phone's had a shoddy appearance they wouldn't have been sent back out.
If your next replacement (refurb) is not functional, then tell them that it is getting ridiculous that you have had 3 replacments and they were all bad (again, I find that dubious). If the phone's are malfunctioning to any extent that you can't make calls (like a phone won't recharge) then they should be crediting your account on a daily basis when you can't use the phone.
Lastly, you can threaten to go to your credit card issuer (assuming you bought it with one) or to the BBB. Again, these are mostly threats, and I don't suggest you follow through unless you are truly getting bad refurbs 3 times in a row. Don't just take a negative attitude and look for problems becuase it isn't a new phone...you aren't likely to get one.
However, you could realistically cancel your service, and then refuse to pay any cancellation fees because they weren't honoring their end of the deal by providing you with functioning equipment. Even though you might have a leg to stand on....it will still probably get sent to collections and mar your credit.
Of the refurbs I got, these were in the condition I stated. When I called ATT they said something along the lines of 'every once in awhile a bad one slips through, but its pretty rare.'
I don't doubt a bad one slips through.... but two in a row....
What I am saying is third time is a charm...you can't keep getting bad ones
Also, I know how it can be mentally (as I would feel the same way) that a refurb just isn't as good and you would rather have a new one even if you saw a refurb pass every single test.

This reminds me of when i had the 8525 hermes. I was sent about 3 phones from them that were of bad quality. Bluetooth problems and yellowish tint screen.. The unwritten rule is that after 3 phones youre sopost to get a upgrade of the latest comperable model. Right now the tilt is the latest pocket pc but at the time, the tilt replaced the 8525 and thats how i recieved my tilt..
Moral is.... wait til the next ppc comes out and make a scene.. but also bring that point up to warranty replacement.

Happened to me last week, two bad ones, and a third one that was good. It's possible, and somewhat probable for a scenario like that to occur. It's not like saying he put a million dollars on "00" at the roulette table and won

The first one got fried by an ebay charger (I think) my daughter threw the next one and messed up the display (can't believe they haven't charged me for that one... yet) The third did't sync with my PC like one of yours and the forth one's been great. All of the replacments have been refirbs but have looked as good as new with the one being bad out of the box.
I agree with bengalih just get another one if it's bad you'll know right away if not it should be perfectly fine.

Ok you said the second phone couldnt sync to pc. If you search through this forum I guarantee there is a fix for that.

Called and told them I had been "advised" that I had to give them one more chance to make it "right" ! Implying I had legal advise....Then I told them I was going to take them to small claims court..Period !

I understand what you mean, but I am completely unprepared to take them to court over such a minor issue. Im going to expend all of my other options first, I still have to go back to the store and argue there that it is there fault because they did not support there 30-day return policy in the first place. The man let me walk out of the store with a broken phone. I should have handeled it then but I didnt realize I would be dialing in and getting more refurbs.
Also, my third refurb arrived today, the device functions completely as intended. The problem now is that the keyboard on this new device does not seem very responsive, or at least, not nearly as responsive as the keyboard on my first device (which I still have). I am upset with this as my other Tilt is in premium condition, not a single scratch. I think I am going to return this one as well.

1. they kinda HAVE to exchange your phone in store if you got it over the phone, over att.com or at a corporate store. if you are within 30 days the rep should do the exchange, the rep u got was an A*&*LE. some act like the store stock and shipping cost come from their pocket.
2. if you get an idiot customer svc rep just hangup and call back , sometime u have to bend the truth. say u have a phone that drops calls ( they are afraid of this) and u tried ur friend's SIM card and still does not work correctly.
3. sorry you did not come to my store.(NY)
4. almost impossible to get a new phone through warranty or insurance.

This is exactly why sometimes the "best deal" is not a good deal...
I only buy my phones from the bigger retailers, Best Buy & the company directly....
Mom & Pop shops, and online retailers:
- Cheaper up front, can usually get you the best deal if you read the fine print and agree
- Usually require a 2nd contract stating you will not change you plan (or features) within 6 months to 1 year or they charge you a penalty (usually $200 for removing OR changing the kind of data service from a phone like the tilt-- ex.: change from Unlimited data $30/month to Unlimited data & Text for $50/month, you broke the contract, they will charge you $200)
- Do not have to accept returns. Returns are done by companies as a 'favor' -- they are not required by US law (for most stores/products, some exceptions)
Big retailers or the Service Provider directly:
- Always have a return policy
- Almost never require a 2nd contract agreeing to keep features
- Usually $25 more for basic phones, up to $100 more for smartphones (they do not require Data, which most M&P/Internet sites give you $75-$100 off for getting and keeping for 6 months)
Other nice advantage of Big Retailers: If customer service at one place gives you no help and you're within reason to return it... go a few miles to another location and try again.... (again, if you're trying to return something 45 days later, you'll probably get no help where ever you go)
This wasnt a 'Mom and Pop' Shop, it was an official retailer. I was going to get the phone at a smaller AT&T but they said I would have to go to an official store that carried there high-end products. When I bought the phone the person I bought it from, I believe I have his buisiness card, but I will check later, allowed me to open the box in the store. He then told me if I wasn't satisfied I had 30 days for a return or replacement. I came back, 29 days later and they said that I had to call there warranty department because the device was not broken, and there fore he could not replace it. Essentially, they lied to me.
If it's not an AT&T corporate store, it's a Mom & Pop shop...
If they say "Authorized Retailer" they are not directly AT&T, they are reselling AT&T services and do not have to follow AT&T Corporate return policies...
Most of these locations are owned by individuals, or groups of individuals, as a business venture...
Keep in mind, anywhere from 50 to 85% of Wireless stores are NOT corporately owned by their service provider, and all of them (except T-Mobile) are allowed to put giant signs on the front of the building saying "AT&T" "Verizon" or "Sprint"... Sprint requires "Authorized Dealer" added to the logo, T-Mobile requires you to name your store something, and if you use T-Mobile logo it can be no more then 25% of the total sign space. AT&T I don't know the exact policy on their signage, but should require "Authorized Reseller" in the sign...
Of course, people can ignore these requirements, One of my old bosses did.. Hence why he's an old boss..
Quick Tip:
If they don't offer the IPhone they are not corporately owned...
At least in the DC metro area, every corporately owned AT&T store has a live active IPhone on display for customers to try

Question about AT&T, GPS and Kaisers

I found a Kaiser phone at my house after a party I had last weekend. It had a password on it but no sim card in it. I asked around and none of my friends/anyone we know are missing a kaiser, so I guess this one is up for grabs. I did some research on it and it seems to be a really excellent phone, a significant upgrade from my old, old razr, so since no one has claimed it I thought about keeping it.
My question is if I put my sim card into it, is there any way AT&T can track me down and accuse me of stealing it? If so, I may as well just sell it on ebay or craigslist rather than go through the hassle of defending myself over something that was left at my house.
well considering it was left at your house and if you asked everyone there if they lost it and they said no I wouldn't worry about it.
You might want to consider something really radical, taking it to AT&T and let them track down the owner. If it has a SIM card they can determine who is the owner.

Now you have my attention, my advise is to report it to AT&T and hand it in to the Police. Even if your party guests cant remember losing a Tilt at your place, there's no doubt it does belong to someone and that someone will be missing it. Even if that someone has insurance which covers it, the phone will be locked if an attempt is made to use it (at least thats what they do here in the UK) so it's only worth will be as parts but even then they're not your parts to sell.
Put yourself in the shoes of the person who has 'lost' it. If it's an AT&T contract phone, the IMEI number will enable them to track down the rightful owner very quickly and even if the sticker/markings are defaced, that info is within the phones programming.

Hmm no offence but this sounds a bit dodgy...why would someone leave a phone which costs around 300 pounds and not try to find it? The first thing I'd do would be to trace back my activities on the day I lost my phone. So you would have me in your house the next day asking if you haven't found it.
True but if it's a kaiser oem and not an actual Tilt, AT&T might not have the info. Taking it to the police is good, also you can put an ad in the paper stating lost PDA but not give what it is to see if real owner calls.

I live in the United States. The nearest AT&T store is about 50 minutes one way away from my home, which translates to about $30 in gas to just to turn it in. I stated in the original post that it did not have a SIM in it.

A bit dodgy? I suppose you're implying that you think I stole it. Let me reassure you I did not. It was Saturday night over a week ago, people were drinking, and there were friends of friends who came to the party that my roommates and I didn't know. In an age of dual SIM slots, separate work and personal phones, and college kids who share phones, is it impossible to believe that someone may have swapped the card out and then mistakenly forgot where they lost the phone? It has been over a week and there has been no word from anyone, nor has anyone shown up at my doorstep.

It is an actual Tilt. Says AT&T on the top right corner. Once again let me stress that spending money to find the owner of this phone is out of the question. At the moment I am $28 short of the money I need to buy a ($158, used) book required to do my homework for college. My solution? I'm basically not eating while going into class super early to borrow a classmate's book to do my homework until I can afford to purchase my own.

1.) It would sit on a shelf indefinitely and the cops would snicker behind my back as I left.
2.) It would sit on a shelf until a cop decided it would be a nice upgrade for him.
Either way, if I turned it into the police the owner would not get it back. All I want to know is, if I used this as my own phone, would AT&T care/make a big enough deal out of it that it could cause me legal trouble?

I stated in my post that it does have an IMEI number though and that does allow it's rightful owner to be traced (along with its serial number, any identifying marks/scratches or even fingerprints if it came down to it). Why have you not responded to my post? You asked for advise and I tried to help.

Well, I decided to take your advice and call AT&T. The representative basically told me I have two options.
1.) Keep the phone.
2.) Pay to ship it to them.
He refused to answer any questions regarding legality of my use of it. At least I know now that AT&T doesn't care. It's another phone sale for them, after all.

You haven't answered a goddamn thing. I asked one simple question. Allow me to reiterate and explain. The police here need proper motivation to take something seriously. If I handed a phone in at the police station, they would likely laugh in my face. However, if some whiny moron comes in and reports a phone stolen and continues pressing the issue over and over with them, and then I turn up using it with my SIM card in it, I'm afraid they'll assume I'm guilty of stealing it when I am not. That is why I asked this ONE simple question that not a single person in this thread has answered. The circumstances of my acquisition are completely moot at this point. All I want is an opinion on whether or not my using this Kaiser could result in legal problems.
The only solutions I've been offered are ways to get the phone back to it's rightful owner. This is not the issue. This will not happen. I have already done everything in my power to try to get the phone back to who it belonged to (notice; PAST-TENSE).
Now allow me to once again make this perfectly clear. Does anyone have any experience with UNITED STATES police regarding their dedication to investigating reports of phone theft, and does my use of the phone in any way give them legal grounds to ASSUME that I am the thief and to cause me legal troubles when I did nothing wrong?
Edit: I just realized that you believe that AT&T locks the phone here. They do not. They do not enforce the blacklist, so should I put my SIM card in, I will be able to use it.

What makes you come to that conclusion? You say you made one call, are you judging all of AT&T on that basis? What makes you think it's another phone sale for them, the person who 'lost' the phone may well be using another old phone until the contract expires or they may have bought a different phone elsewhere to use on the AT&T network.

I seriously doubt that. When I handed in a (quite valuable looking) phone I found left on a train seat to the train companies lost and found dept and reported it to the police a few months ago, there was no laughing in my face at all, not even a little bit. In fact all involved were grateful and from what I gathered in my follow-up, the person later came and claimed their phone back.
However, if some whiny moron comes in and reports a phone stolen and continues pressing the issue over and over with them, and then I turn up using it with my SIM card in it, I'm afraid they'll assume I'm guilty of stealing it when I am not.

Even though you say YOU didn't steal it, how do you know it's not stolen (by someone else)? I wouldn't give you much of a chance if a case went to court for you having possession of a stolen item and you claimed well I didn't steal it and I'd done everything I reasonably can to try and sort it, without having at least handed it into the Police. Is that the sort of legal advise you wanted or is does that conflict to much with your plan to keep the phone or sell it for gain? As for keeping it, you are right I wasn't aware AT&T don't lock phones reported missing but I am aware networks can tell roughly where a given phone is while being used. If you want me to hold your hand and say there'll be no problems if you keep it or sell it, I'm unwilling to offer that. The fact you repeatedly don't seem willing to accept advise that is offered makes me think this is some kind of leg pulling excercise - if it is, congratulations, you've succeded in pulling my leg.

I could tell based on the tone of the representative's voice. He couldn't have cared less whether or not the person got their phone back or even if they bought their next phone from AT&T. However, since their former phone was an AT&T product, it is more likely than not that their next will be as well.

Ha! It sounds proposterous, but it's pretty true...I had a good chuckle on this one.
Dude...wether or not you can use the phone is irrelevant cause the law is pretty clear on how you need to treat lost and found property...if caught using it you are as guilty as if you stole it yourself (going by the strict letter of the law)....so the question you need to ask yourself is wether its worth the trouble....the other thing you need to figure out is why would someone leave a phone without a SIM at your house and not claim it...is there a possibility that the phone itself is hot...(previously stolen and conveniently discarded at your place) my advice : too many variables and if's and maybe's just not worth the trouble ....
EDIT :- And yes its possible to track the phone through the IMEI number in the event the original user wants to do it...

After a little reading around I figure this is the most apropriate forum to post this thread in, correct me if I'm wrong.
Earlier this year I lost my phone in a cab after a night out, the driver decided to keep my phone instead of turning it in (usually if you leave something in a taxi in this region, you'll have it back with a little humiliation from the taxi-central the day after, not this time though).
A couple months after loosing it, I got a "emergency message" from my lost phone, and it went on and off for a little while untill yesterday when it apparently was taken into use! I have an "invisible" tracking app installed that will survive factory resets and gives me the opportunity to take pictures, record sound and some more.
Anyway, the phone has moved a couple countries away since it was initially lost, so I've lost hope of reclaiming it. My plan now is to give an honest shot at making my phone the most annoying device the new owner has ever had!
I come to this forum now, looking for inspiration/ideas and warning where warnings are due!
Is there anything I really shouldn't do, that could come back and bite me?
What would you do if you were in my situation?
Any good ideas of how to bother this guy?
So far I've only really come up with the idea of wiping his data from time to time..
I appreciate any ideas or warnings!

it will not back bite you if have retail invoice of that phone do whatever you want
Isn't it possible, even with sim card phones, to call your carrier, report it stolen, and have it basically bricked so Noone can use it again. I know they can with like sprint and Verizon phones that don't take sim cards. But I've heard of it happening with sim devices too. I would just try calling your carrier.
If that don't work. I'd leave it alone. The person who has your phone now probably isn't the person who took it. Which is why it was sold out of the country. And that person most likely doesn't deserve all that crap

That's the nasty part of stealing a phone. The Carrier will lock the "ESN" (Electronic Serial Number) so all they need to do is flash it over to another carrier... I.E. if you have a GSN type phone from say AT&T you can flash the software over to T-Mobile who doesn't give a flying flip about a stolen ESN (As a example) I personally have T-Mobile... They did try to make a law making req the manufacture to add a "Kill Switch" allowing the consumer to render the phone useless how ever that did not pass... SO Basically some one steals your phone that's it nothing you can do but buy another phone or hack into it like the OP..
TO OP: I'd go Impractical Jokers Style. Ease drop on him and play really dirty sounds (Porn sounds... moans/grunts etc) then Fry the phone... **** that guy he had to know it was stolen and if he didn't he's a fool... Check your ESN's People!

It is indeed possible, but not flawless. There is supposed to be some automation to it in the country the phone was initially lost, but either this automation failed or it's sucess is the reason it left that country. Problem is though, the idea is that they block the IMEI from the networks, but some countries are not part of this agreement/system.
I think the guy who is currently in posession of the phone knows perfectly well how it was acquired. Judging from pictures taken through the phone, the taxi-driver and the current holder of the phone may very well be related. Also, the phone had it's language changed to Arabic by the taxi-driver, this has not been changed by the new user (not that it prooves anything). There is also the fact that the SIM inserted in the phone in the country I lost it in, followed the phone over to the current country, where it was replaced by what appears to be a prepaid SIM. I don't think this phone was up for sale anywhere, I think the taxidriver sold or gave it away to some family member coming to visit.
As mentioned, I have no hope of having it returned. I'm not gonna push this too far, but I do feel like putting a dent in his joy over his shadily acquired device.

As far as I've understood, in the European countries that are part of this agreement any locked IMEI number will be locked out of all mobile networks, this can only be worked around by changing the IMEI number or shipping the phone off to some country that is not part of this agreement. In the country my phone was lost the police send a notification to the networks when they recieve a lost/stolen report. Not sure if it went through in my case.
My list of options are limited to what my tracking software allows me to do, sadly (or happily, depending how you look at it) my programming skills are not by far sufficient for me to go beyond what the software offers, allthough I reckon someone with the right knowledge could use the tracking software as a backdoor into the device?
Wow. I'll be honest, I never thought them tracking apps would ever give you anything useful, but if your able to basically see every picture they take, take pictures yourself...I think that's crazy... wipe the phone....
What exactly can you do with yours? Read texts sent and received on the phone? Does it gps track its location on demand? Even if the gps is disabled in the device itself?
You said the one you have stays on the device even after restores and factory resets? What's the name of the app?
As for the locked esns.... If an American cell company like tmo locks one up, is that gonna stick over any of the carriers in the US? Basically, all 4 of them?
Cuz I know before, as long as you had a sim card, it didn't matter, you just swapped it for a new one.

I'm using Cerberus. I had the same app installed without root access/without placing it in system/apps on another phone I lost a couple months earlier, in which case it gave me absolutely nothing. This one however, installed in system/apps with root access, appears to be "immortal".
I reckon they will have a comprehensive list of what you can do with the app on their homepage.
I don't know anything about how things are done in the US.

Yesterday a sound recording convinced me he was in a crowded area, so I couldn't resist the urge to sound the alarm. Which is played at max volume. The picture taken of him when he touched the screen to stop it was not optimal, but it did have a feeling of desperation to it

I work in tech support for a major US carrier...Wow some people...

Does anyone else here work in the technical support or any cellular related fields whether it's retail or customer service? Some people are really freaking ignorant of the technology or absolutely stubborn when it comes to how phones and service works. I am tired of people demanding a new phone when every little thing happens. Does a car dealership replace your current car with a new one when it's under warranty? No they fix the problem with the car. It's not my fault you moved and you don't have coverage at your new house. When you got your phone we gave you a grace period to try it out and determine if coverage is good enough where you live. Moving doesn't give you a new grace period. You're not under contact anymore so if you want to leave us...pay off your device and go. I'll even help you unlock it once you've paid it off. Backups, backups...holy sh*t freaking backup your data people. When an application wreaks havoc or you got ad bots or whether something software related fails you might as well be prepared to hard reset your phone. No, you're not getting a warranty replacement without doing that step first. You're gonna have to transfer your data either way so back your sh*t up. It's not my responsibility to ensure your pictures and contacts don't get lost. Take some responsibility for your data and educate yourself on how to save it. Warranty is not an upgrade path either. Don't ask for a different color or model. That one year by the manufacturer is for the exact model. We (the carrier) are nice enough to take care of the warranty on behalf of the manufacturer. You think Samsung or Asus will send you an upgraded or different device? Take it up with them. Don't whine and cry because you can't scam warranty and insurance for an upgrade. You want a new phone then pay off the one you have or buy it at full price.
Anyways just had to vent. Working in technical support is actually a lot of fun and I really enjoy educating and teaching customers how to use their devices and explore the world a smartphone has to offer. However the amount of rampant stupidity and unreal requests are absolutely absurd.

I truly, truly believe there should be a driving license for using a smartphone. The amount of people who have no idea how the device, the one that they entrust their entire lives to, actually works is damn near astronomical.
"My WiFi doesn't work. What did you do to it?!?! *insert expletives filled capslock rant about fraud and scammers*" To a provider that doesn't supply landlines, only mobile. About 80% of the people apparently don't know the difference between WiFi and Mobile Data.
Had this gem last week: Someone opened the charger flap on the S5, and the thing broke off. He bend down to pick it off the floor, and dropped the phone instead. Screen cracked, phone dead. Now that customer is demanding that the provider covers the repair costs of the dropped phone. He claims it wasn't his fault that the phone dropped, it was the fault of that broken off flap, and so it should fall under warranty.
"How do I view the photo I just took?" Why are you even using a smartphone?
This also happens about three times a day:
"My phone doesn't work." No other information, just that.
"Sir, which brand and model is your phone?"
"It's an iPhone."
"Which one?"
"An S4."
"Uh, sir, an iPhone 4S or a Samsung Galaxy S4?"
"Aren't they all the same?"
And then there's these people:
"I have a bill here for 300 quid of additional, out-of-package costs. I was calling a friend and forgot to end the call. You should've ended it for me. I'm not paying that."
Oh, and the amount of people referring to 4G as G4.... -.-
On the other side of that coin, I hate talking to the CS reps of ANY technology company.
"I need you to reprovision my data because your system thinks I have an iPhone and it's messing with my data"
"Sir, may I ask have you restarted your phone?"
and I have to go thru like 12 different times telling him to please do what I asked in the first place.
Or I walk into a T-Mobile store and the rep is telling me I can't use a verizon phone on the network, because it's verizon.
"But the phone comes unlocked, just give me a SIM card"
"Verizon is CDMA blah blah"
And I get to argue with the guy for an hour about how things actually work.
Or even worse when I try to get a warranty replacement device. No I don't want to restart my phone or factory reset it, or put in my Google Account login information again, or try a new SIM card, or anything like that.
The device is broken, I know about phones, just replace it and let's get on with it!
So trust me it's very frustrating for us consumers too...

You might as well walk into IKEA's storage section with a question about network frequencies. You're statistically more likely to find people with tech knowledge there than behind the counter in a provider shop. :laugh:

This is the B&M guys, the "service technicians" on the phone, the "specialists" on the phone, the guys in chats etc.
I have never had someone who knew enough about networks, bands, actual device specs etc, talk to me from any portion of any phone company.
And I've been on every phone network...

From what I know in the EU, you never actually get to speak to the Tech guys when you call in. It's still only a Customer Contact employee. They contact the Tech department on an internal line, but the tech lads never speak to customers. Don't know if the US system is different (probably not).
Oh I've met my fair share of the technologically handicapped in the shops, too. One shining example is the idiot who told me, in 2013, that I shouldn't use Android because it was still a Beta version, and thus I would be at risk of viruses. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Unfortuneately they hate Windows Phone to, which is a shame because aside from apps, it is the second best operating system (beats IOS by a mile)

Backup Software for Note 9

I've read about SmartSwitch and Kies 3. I currently use Kies 3. I don't care how user-friendly, clever, or fast it is. Anything better than Kies 3 to be able to restore single apps and pull out previous APKs? We learned the hard way that we need to turn off Google automatic updates from the play store. They arbitrarily roll out new policies that cripple businesses and cost them many thousands of dollars.

I have never been so frustrated with a phone purchase. I probably have 40 hours in this and it looks like it isn't over yet. First people say once it's upgraded to Pie there is no going back. Next they say it's no problem. Next they say you cannot go back to Oreo and I have a phone on order that is about to get re-listed if I cannot revert it. Now I'm rooting for Hawwaie, a new operating system, and for them to be a US carrier. These guys are criminal.

I feel your frustration. I bought this phone because I wanted a hi end hi performance phone & I thought I'd stay on Oreo until there was a root method for my Snapdragon model only to find out that after hitting no to the update request about 20 times it still forced me to upgrade. Why the heck do they ask if you want to upgrade or not if they're just going to force you to upgrade anyway. As for the bootloader thing if you are on version 1 it doesn't matter what release firmware you put on it just as long as it is bootloader version 1 or higher. Once you go to a firmware that has bootloader version 2 or higher you are unable to go back 2 a firmware that is lower then the one you're currently on. It is stupid but I don't know what to say because I am in your position, stuck with a phone I cannot root and paid big money for. If you have any questions on how to do things just PM me and we can chat I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to Samsung devices and the note 9 as I've had mine since it was released. Do you have the exynos or snapdragon model? Mine is snapdragon so that is the one I am most familiar with. If I don't know something that you ask me I will not lie and pretend like I do know and feed you information that could lead you down a bad Road. I will give you answers if I do have the correct ones and I am sure of that.
What is it you wish to do or have done with your phone? If it is rooting/jailbreak and you have the exynos model you have an 80% chance that you can succeed in doing so. If you have the Snapdragon model like me we probably will not see a jailbreak or root anytime soon, if at all. There are ways and tricks to get around a lot of problems but they involve work and knowledge and time and usually they are a lengthy process to complete a simple task if it doesn't come out of the box already doing what you wish.
I'd love to trade mine if I could find somebody with a phone that is rootable and it's in the same quality and performs close to the way this one does. I'm going to hold off though because I have downgraded to Oreo and everything I need is functioning at the moment. My only wish 4 root is because I'd like to run Viper4android to be able to get the best sound quality out of the phone possible. For me there is not enough Bass and the volume level is too low, and when you turn the bass or treble up using the EQ provided by Samsung the music goes quieter just so the bass and treble sound louder by comparison. This phone has a very low end audio quality in my opinion. I hate the earbud headphones they come with, AKG I believe. They keep falling out of my oddly shaped ear canal and don't provide me with anything I'd consider special sounding. They rate the headphones as high end $100 value but to me I've bought better for $29.99. Some may disagree but with hiphop/rap I need, well like heavy bass & sharp snappy treble without loss of mid range vocals. I'm getting married in 3/4 of a year, maybe I'll ask for a wedding gift (doing a money tree) and get me some $400 beats over ear headphones by Dr Dre. This phone without viper4android may not push them tho so I'll get a Bluetooth model which provides its own amp power supply.
Like I said if you have questions I'll tell you what I know, what I've actually done myself, and what I'm unsure of. I feel for you so least I can do is offer. Don't give up just yet. Day 2 on Oreo 8.1.0 and still nothing about updates has come up. It's two simple adb commands that stops the forced updates and it affects nothing on the phone. No prompts or error messages & EVERYTHING else works fine. It's easy to undo also and does not void warranty.

There is, the Pixel 2XL. The Pixel 3XL came with Pie. There isn't much difference between the two. The reason I didn't is I will be living in a South America most of the time and I want Samsung Pay otherwise the Pixel 2XL almost had
me giving up the stylus.

If it doesn't come with the right boot loader I'll list it back on eBay and get one that does.
I don't buy phones often because it takes me 80 hours to get one the way I need it. Once I was able to get a phone with a stylus, and I could run line-of-business software, the Touch Pro2, it would be hard for me to give up the stylus. The Touch Pro2 was simply a Pocket PC and you could wipe it and install any operating that had drivers on it, including Android. It could emulate anything, including an iPhone. I'd still have a Windows phone if they made one but Balmer trashed it and started putting Zune on phones with Windows Phone and then it lost it's entire software base, including the Word, Excel, and Outlook that was baked in, and took Nokia down with it. That is what brought Android out of obscurity. I didn't move to Android until the Note 3 because it was the first point in time that Android had enough competent software for line-of-business apps, and the reason I didn't go IOS is because the same apps in the iPhone didn't work right, and I couldn't get where I needed to go, with call recording being one. It was also the latest I could get root. With root we can do site surveys, see what the bands are in a certain area, troubleshoot networks, etc., so we will keep the Verizon Note 3s for that purpose as they have no resale since they cannot be added to the Verizon network after the first of the year because they don't have LTE-A like the Note 4. The Note 8 and the Note 9 are the only ones with the bands needed to be able to work on a variety of networks around the world, that has a stylus, can still record calls if running Oreo, and has Samsung Pay. There is no advantage for me to buy a Samsung without a stylus. The problem with the Note 8 is battery life and it would probably come with an older battery. For those reasons the Note 9 is the only duck in my pond. I couldn't use a Note 10 if someone gave it to me.

ADB access for most is about over, and Verizon is the name of a new virus that works around your OTA protections. I have a Note 9 on the way, setting up my plan, and ordering and downloading. The phone is my mini business laptop. It has my mail, schedule, software to support people remotely, tracks my time, takes notes for my calls, etc. I don't use it for movies, games, or music. What turns my ears red is when they make changes that cost me thousands of dollars in lost history and change things to where I lose business functionality. If I find the guy who did Pie and took away my call recording, I'm going to revoke his social media accounts, take the transmission out of his car to keep him safe and from breaking the law with any inadvertent traffic violations, and board up all of the windows on his house to protect his privacy. I don't buy phones often because it takes me 80 hours to get one the way I need it. Once I was able to get a phone with a stylus, and I could run line-of-business software, the Touch Pro2, it would be hard for me to give up the stylus. The Touch Pro2 was simply a Pocket PC and you could wipe it and install any operating that had drivers on it, including Android. It could emulate anything, including an iPhone. I'd still have a Windows phone if they made one but Balmer trashed it and started putting Zune on phones with Windows Phone and then it lost it's entire software base, including the Word, Excel, and Outlook that was baked in, and took Nokia down with it. That is what brought Android out of obscurity. I didn't move to Android until the Note 3 because it was the first point in time that Android had enough competent software for line-of-business apps, and the reason I didn't go IOS is because the same apps in the iPhone didn't work right, and I couldn't get where I needed to go, with call recording being one. It was also the latest I could get root. With root we can do site surveys, see what the bands are in a certain area, troubleshoot networks, etc., so we will keep the Verizon Note 3s for that purpose as they have no resale since they cannot be added to the Verizon network after the first of the year because they don't have LTE-A like the Note 4. The Note 8 and the Note 9 are the only ones with the bands needed to be able to work on a variety of networks around the world, that has a stylus, can still record calls if running Oreo, and has Samsung Pay. There is no advantage for me to buy a Samsung without a stylus. The problem with the Note 8 is battery life and it would probably come with an older battery. For those reasons the Note 9 is the only duck in my pond. I couldn't use a Note 10 if someone gave it to me.

I looked around and even found a great condition pixel 2 XL that somebody was willing to trade for my Samsung Galaxy S8 but I was nervous about a used phone, and luckily once I called my carrier to check if the pixel would run on their Network they told me it didn't. I am with Eastlink Mobility in Eastern Canada and their firmware customer code or abbreviation is esk. They stated that they sell only the phones that work on their Networks (many) and phones purchased elsewhere would not work on there modem bands and would only be able to purchase second hand phone that they carry in store so that I would be okay and I would be able to connect to their towers. To me this sounds like a bunch of bul****, there are many many bands and Eastlink Mobility doesn't even own any Towers. The service they provide is through rented Towers from Bell Canada and Telus Canada and Rogers Canada. This being the case I would assume any phone that runs on any of these Networks should be able to be hooked up and used with my current provider without me having to purchase a brand new phone. I think it is a money grab and also all the phones that they do sell currently are not able to be rooted. Very small selection. Only newest Note 9+ Galaxy S10, iPhone X, and some cheapos that liik ancient.

Unlimited nationwide long distance calling. Unlimited local calling 24/7. I have insurance that covers everything even if I dropped it on concrete face down and stepped on it getting out of the car to pick it up and shattered the screen rendering the phone useless (whick I did a week after buying the note 9) God that sucked/was dumb. This insurance does not expire ever as long as I keep it on my plan. It doesn't matter the reason the phone is damaged so it's a pretty good insurance plan. I also get 7gb of mobile data each month and unlimited sms/mms but I'm still wondering if WiFi calling will be activated. I see through package Disabler there is a WiFi calling apk. why it'd be there if there was no intention on using it 1 day, but I'm sure Eastlink will be last to get it available. Google pay & Samsung pay are not compatible with my bank/country/provider so their just wasting space. I have bixby turned off atm. Single press - settings, double press - game launcher, & long hold press is screenshot. Quite handy, I used button remapper & setup on pc was a breeze. Wish me luck finding a "looked after" (female owner sosted prob never rooted) pixl 2.
I'm thinking I'll keep this note & use very lightly with my screen cover & Otterbox & sell before I'll lose out on resale when it becomes too low, meaning I'll sell if a good option appears & I can profit off mine still due to keeping EVERYTHING it came with. & in mint shape. Carrier unlocked but I think they have to unlock if requested now due to a law passe. The must provide you with free code. I have my Box, manual/warrenty, no scratches, all oem parts which most are still unopened or have never been used even, and in mint condition. Never been messed with or buggy issues. I'll keep my eyes open for pixel 2 but I'm pretty sure I'll run into the previous issue I mentioned. Denial by carrier.
