Does anybody know of a voice dialer software out there better than the one Google put out? If not, can someone PLEASE develop one? These things are supposed to be used in conjunction with a bluetooth headset and are supposed to avoid user input because of traffic laws yet the one Google put out prompts the user every time!
Isn't the bluetooth function coming in donut?
What do you mean "the bluetooth function"? Cupcake has full bluetooth capability and the voice dialer technically works with the voice dialer, just not even remotely well enough.
In reference to what your asking. Using your bluetooth to start voice dialing.
That's available right now. I can press the button on my headset to activate voice dialing. It works about 80% of the time. The problem is with the voice dialer application itself. Simply put: it sucks balls.
Does anyone know if the Quick Search Box's voice dialing feature is replacing the actual voice dialer? The teaser video for 1.6 shows it working well (ie figuring out WHO you want to call and doing it automatically without user input) but I also noted a voice dialer icon in the video and technically they pressed a button on the Quick Search Box to activate it. I'm wondering if that can be activated with a BT headset.

I hope so - i've been waiting (im)patiently for voice dial in the UK for a loooooong time
I love the way you have to put on an American accent to get the google voice dialer to work
Call home
English English - "Cawl hoeme" = random results
US english - "kahl hom" = call home
Rubbish
I had to rename the girlf in my phone to "love of my life" which works well. "K" offered me to call "Ed"... So its not great really. Voice search in google seems accurate though.
Direct dial shortcuts ftw. They actually require one less click than trying to voice dial.
BT headset voice dialling would be great though.
Real voice dialing for Android please! It's ridiculous how a 3 year old Windows Mobile device can have 100X better voice dialing...
Hello I have the EVA09 and like it so far, but 3 things makes it bad
1. using classsic telephone service is slow and bad quality. To start ringing it takes most between 10 and 40 seconds. Every so often it stops the dial prcess after that time. even i have 2 or 3 bars . If than finaly connected interruption misserable voice quality is Standard and makes it unusable for any business purpose (the great camera just can't talk)
2. the Standard Android funktion under Telphone options to add a aco**** for internet calling (SIP account) is missing. Is this a bad joke Huawei ??
3. The T-mobile Feature , WIFI Calling is not available. Who wonders after cut down on a feature as described under 2.
Any words from the comunity how this problems can be fixed ? different rom ? or some fixes for this ?
Thanks a lot
REinhard
As far as I have been told, the model has to be certified by your operator to get VoLTE and HD voice over 3G.
My operator hasn't allowed this yet. (Telenor DK)
I just found out that T-Mobile Germany sells it with the firmaware EVA-L09C150B140 CUSTDEUD004 and update availabe EVA-L09C150B150 CUSTDEUD004, THis would be the key i guess. anybody has this Firmware ?
Any news to this thread WIFI Calling
Hello , since the phone does not support WIFI Calling, Free Texting in the Plane (GOGOAIR) is not possible either, Tmobile requires a WIFI CALL first ....
Nice Camera, but to use it as a phone would be helpfull (phone modul is the worst i had for over 10 years ) Voice quality, connection time, etc.

Really, I find that the phone is amazing - maybe it's different expectations - but it holds signal really well, the voice quality sounds great to me too. I would say phone calls is one of the things that this phone does best for me. Sorry to hear that you are having problems.
Maybe there is quality control problems, there is another guy on Reddit who has bluetooth issues, but I haven't had a single issue on that 7 things that I have connected from phone to, from my laptop, to my car to several speakers or my Moto 360 - all have been flawless. Much better than the LG G4 was for me.

Thanks for the answer, might worth to return it and get an exchange.
Use App from store called QuickShortcutMaker
- install App
- launch App
- at Search type "sip " there shall be a space in the end
- Press Try/Launch
- voila
If you configure SIP account, later at Settings / Wireless & Networks / Call Settings, you are able to choose Phone account settings.
Calling out is working, confirmed
Though the menu Sip Settings at the lower region of Phone account settings page is missing on my Emui 8 Oreo P9 (AL10) which once was a Emui 7 Nougat P9 (L19)
so the function about Receiving Calls is missing.
on the other hand with my Note 4 running LineageOS 15.1 Oreo 8.1 , this SIP settings part is available, still calls are not received.
Question, if someone got still Nougat on P9, do you see in Phone account settings the lower part called SIP settings where you can configure Incoming calls and switch it on for Receiving Calls?

I have a second P9 with custom ROM Magic Rainbow (MR) v4 by @Tecalote.
It was based on L09/L19 c432 b398, he added some things (Magisk, K-Settings, Viper4Android) but otherwise the Settings, Phone/Dialer, etc. must be the same as on the stock Nougat/EMUI 5
1) I have no Call Settings under the Settings
2) I can open phone/call Settings only from Dialer app, three dots menu, Settings - and it looks similar to as on Oreo AL10 c00 b540
(On Oreo, Phone Settings can be opened both from general Settings and from Dialer app, three dots menu - here, on Nougat, MR v4, only from Dialer, three dots menu)
3) But in the phone/call Settings (Dialer app, three dots menu), there is no Account (SIP) Settings option
4) By the same procedure like on Oreo:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79552304&postcount=1748
I can add SIP account, and SIP account menu looks just like on Oreo, there is no section about incoming (SIP) calls
5) However, even when I added SIP account by Package Manager (or by Quick Shortcut Maker), there is still no Account Settings option at the bottom of phone/dialer Settings
6) In adding/editing a Contacts, under Add Additional Field, there is no option Internet call, hence I cannot test making an outgoing call like on Oreo
If @ogisha is willing to check, AFAIK, he has still the stock Nougat c432 b504 - does he have some SIP (Account) Settings, or the same like described above for MR v4 ROM

Usage is described here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79552304&postcount=1748
But on Oreo, there is "Internet call" option on Additional field for Contacts, making it possible to make outgoing VoIP calls to the SIP account

I do not have "Internet call" option in Contacts / Dialer.
Maybe I will get it after I set up SIP account.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I could not activate "WiFi calling".

I just checked the settings in Phone App by Google LLC on Lineage OS 16.0 on my Note 4
all settings about sip calling are available there
Hello forum. In the Oreo update for some reason the ability to use custom notification sounds for specific contacts was removed. Samsung blames it on Google and vice versa. Theres a 150+ page thread at Samsungs community site about it. Ive contacted them myself and they blamed Oreo. Anyway this use to be as simple as going to the contact and setting the notification sound you wanted for that persons texts. You can still set ringtones, but not texts anymore using Samsungs messaging app. I know there are 3rd party apps that do this, and you can set them per thread in Googles stock messaging app, but I prefer the Samsung messaging app.
Similarly Google removed being able to set custom notification sounds per label in the Gmail app. But after getting Tasker I got some help to make this work with Tasker and the plugin Notification Listener. So I was thinking there might be a way to use Tasker to have Samsungs messaging app notify me with a custom sound for a specific contact. I tried to figure this out myself and couldnt. So I am hoping someone can help me out with this, of course assuming its possible. Thanks
Take a look at the Tasker wiki SMS Notification Management entry.

Use in profile the state of unread text and within that you can add in a contact.
In the task you can use if the above profile active then play sound, I use a custom vibrate pattern also.
This is what I use and it works well.

Officially it's not supported, I am aware of it, but maybe there is a solution somewhere ....
I can use Whatsapp and Whatsapp Calls using AA-Mirror but there a few downsides here:
1) I cannot answer Whatsapp Calls, because immediately my AA-mirror screen is switched to the AA-phone screen (but I cannot answer the call, because it's a not supported Whatsapp-call)
2) Placing a call via AA-Mirror requires manually opening Whatsapp, selecting the right contact and press call. It can be done on the car-screen, but it's distracting from the traffic
Another approach is using Tasker and AutoVoice. After pressing the microphone-key on my steering wheel, and 'Ok Google' I can use some shortcuts like 'talk to Contact' which launches Whatsapp, finds the Contact from my contact list, and calls using Whatsapp. It's working on the phone, but when using with Android Auto it's not. Either there is no reaction or I receive a reply 'AutoVoice is not supported on this device'. Ok, I am a beginner with AutoVoice so maybe there is a solution, but at the moment I am stuck here. (if there is interest, I am happy to provide details).
I also 'enabled' AutoVoice and Whatsapp for AA-Mirror (using AA Phenotype Patcher) but it did not help.
Not making this post too long, I am using a Xiaomi A1 running stock Android 8.1, and an Opel Astra
Any ideas and help are welcome!
Once a solution is found I am sure it can be applied to other apps like Skype ... as well
Thanks!
