Every two or three days people report here they bricked phones by forcing update or Factory reset (or relocking Bootloader) from custom or rooted phones (or by having TWRP) - one must first go back to the original stock firmware he had, before upgrading/resetting/relocking...
And this thread will also not help to somebody else -
since 'somebody' will not read (before bricking the phone) ;(
---
Do you still have TWRP - use HWOTA to flash stock
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75787156&postcount=3
If you have no TWRP but Fastboot is showing Bootloader unlocked, you should be able to flash TWRP.
If Fastboot is showing Bootloader locked but FRP unlocked, you should be able to unlock Bootloader.
But if there is no more TWRP and Fastboot is showing FRP and Bootloader locked - maybe DC Phoenix can help you
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/DC-Phoenix-flash-repair-tutorial

I used this command in fastboot: fastboot oem device-info
But I get this error: FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
On my phone it says: Phone: unlocked and FRP: Lock

Yeah, this is not adb/fastboot drivers problem but a fact that you either did not keep OEM Unlocking or it locked due to your procedures. But you have no system to boot in and to unlock.
Is TWRP still on? Press and keep pressing Power until phone shuts down (from Fastboot).
Try to boot to recovery by keeping pressed Vol + and Power -- if it boots to TWRP proceed by HWOTA as above.
If it boots to eRecovery instead, maybe you can try Factory reset (although, I don't believe it will work)
If you don't have recovery anymore (and you have no system and FRP is locked) then you really bricked the phone, you should pay for DC Phoenix and try to unbrick

You can boot to system?
Which (full name) build it shows in About?
Can you enable Developer options - then why cannot you enable USB debugging?!
You must first enable Allow ADB debugging in charge... and only then USB debugging -otherwise USB debugging switches off

Modelnumber: EVA-L19
Build: NRD90M test-keys
I think I should not supposed to have test-keys doesnt seem correct?

So I got my phone to boot but everytime I want to do something in recovery or something else It wont boot anymore and than I need to make the battery run out of juice. are there anyfix without needing root recovery or fastboot.

ADB wont work because usb debugging wont turn on (tried many things), Fastboot kinda works but gives the error (remote command not allowed)
Cannot get into any Recovery I can boot to OS

Unable to unlock N6 bootloader (Android 6.0.1 Build MMB29X) [resolved]

Hi,
I am unable to unlock the bootloader on my Nexus 6, which was purchased new from Amazon.com. Or more accurately, I can issue the fastboot flashing unlock command without error, but my phone still says LOCKED and screen is frozen for 60 seconds.
I have followed the various HOWTOs on this website to the best of my ability:
1. Installed latest Android SDK tools(25.1.4.rc1), Platform-tools (24rc2) & Java8. I originally installed with the 23.1 platform-tools but then moved to the preview channel release when I had no luck.
2. USB debugging and OEM unlocking are both ON
3. Both "adb device" and "fastboot device" show my phone's serial number when in their respective modes, so I know communication is good between my laptop and phone.
How to replicate problem:
a. With my phone connected, I first issued "adb reboot bootloader". My phone then sucessfully changes to the AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure) screen. Beneath the green BATTERY OK (Charging) are the lines
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 2
Transfer Mode: USB Connected
b. I then type "fastboot flashing unlock" and the output is
...
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 0.016s
However my phone does not ask me if I want to unlock. In fact, the screen then appears to be frozen -- pressing the volume up and down buttons does not change the power button selection menu. If I try to issue any other fastboot command, it says FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error)) finished. total time: 5.017s
The screen is frozen for 60 seconds. After that, the bootloader screen is once again functional (I can change menu options again) and I can issue new fastboot commands, such as 'fastboot reboot'
However, the device still says LOCKED and will refreeze for 60 seconds if I type 'fastboot flashing unlock'
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you.
type fastboot oem unlock to unlock your bootloader, then follow instruction. But beware, this will wipe your device

In newer versions of fastboot, the command is fastboot flashing unlock, not OEM unlock.
Code:
$ ./fastboot
usage: fastboot [ <option> ] <command>
commands:
update <filename> Reflash device from update.zip.
flashall Flash boot, system, vendor, and --
if found -- recovery.
flash <partition> [ <filename> ] Write a file to a flash partition.
flashing lock Locks the device. Prevents flashing.
flashing unlock Unlocks the device. Allows flashing
any partition except
bootloader-related partitions.

No, I had not. I tried using fastboot oem unlock on an older version of the SDK toolkit and that had failed, but I had not tried using oem unlock again on the latest version, having noticed that "oem unlock" was no longer listed as an option.
I just tried it now on the latest SDK toolkit and it does indeed work for me. :good:
Thank you to the both of you for helping me out!

Welcome
i do believe the "fastboot flashing unlock" is for when a manufacture issues a binary token kinda of like how HTC does it. If the Nexus or any phone that is not carrier branded, "fastboot oem unlock" will be the command to pass.

If you are sure bootloader is unlocked and using Linux OS, run fastboot commands as root/admin (as sudo).

the reason for this case, that you should not apply updates while you are rooted.
(assuming that you are in lollipop stock )I suggest you check for the driver .. try to run adb (when your phone is in the active state, not powered off)
now, reboot to bootloader and try any other fastboot commands, like fastboot reboot (just to check that fastboot is responding to the device drivers..)
if it does respond, then I'm afraid you have a serious problem, if it doesn't respond, then you have to deal with the drivers, or you have to double check if your phone is unlocked

erase cache command is blocked by huawei in fastboot irrespective of locked or unlocked state. somewhere i read unlock lost permissions after update. if you have not tried unlock after update try it. driver can also be an issue, install hisuite it comes with drivers.

okay. are you sure the bootloader is unlocked? no harm done. just hold vol down + power up. and you get that green android with white background and the text in RED that says UNLOCKED. if its LOCKED, get the UNLOCK CODE first. just a reminder, you can only fastboot flash those *.imgs if you are UNLOCKED. and there are only some files will be flashed properly (recovery.img, recovery2.img, boot.img, you can try). yes, you can use Huawei Update Extractor to get those files, even in Marshmellow files. but for reviving the phone, use B067 Kitkat or any Kitkat you can get from Huawei Downloads.
1. Get into bootloader mode. I guess you already know how to do that. Plug the phone to wall charger. Yes, leave it charged with white screen showing. Leave it until you finished preparing the PC.
2. Make sure you can use fastboot. You can use Minimal ADB and Fastboot.exe found somewhere in XDA. And make sure that it can detect the phone when you write fastboot devices. It will show up if set up properly.
3. Huawei Update Extractor + Any Kitkat firmware. Extract everything. Note the tags beside each .img inside that Update Extractor. Youre gonna need those tags in order to flash properly.
4. Copy all those *.imgs that extracted into Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder. Check program files (x86).
5. Now ready the pc by launching that minimal adb and fastboot.exe as admin. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
6. fastboot devices. pull the phone from wall charger. plug it to pc. listen to usb connecting sound and driver installation. hit enter and the device should show up.
7. This is where its getting interesting. remember the tags? use that tags like this.
RECOVERY.img = fastboot flash RECOVERY RECOVERY.img
BOOT.img = fastboot flash BOOT BOOT.img
CHECK THE TAGS BEFORE FLASHING!!! and yes, just 5 or less files will be flashed successfully. Ignore it. fastboot reboot it. Yes, its stuck, plug it to the wall again while we prepare the microsd.
8. update.app file. Put that update.app file inside /microsd/dload/update.app folder. Put the microsd inside the phone. Yes, its stuck.
9. Now do the force update. when you see the emui logo, immediately plug it back to wall charger. wait until 100% and it rebooted itself, and you can see the language selection screen again.
DO WITH YOUR OWN RISK. Ive already done it, I hope it worked for you too.

First...many thanks for your interest!
Look, about bootloader, on boot mode is in red PHONE UNLOCKED, i try this command in fastboot:
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb reboot bootloader
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot oem get-bootinfo

(bootloader) USER LockState: UNLOCKED
OKAY [ -0.000s]
finished. total time: -0.000s
so what is FB Lockstate??Is my bootloader unlocked or locked??
Here is another command which i try....
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot -w
wiping userdata...
Erase successful, but not automatically formatting.
Can't determine partition type.
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
erasing 'userdata'...

Cant derermine partition type - is this problem?
I also try this....
C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
target reported max download size of 524288000 bytes
sending 'recovery' (25034 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.783s]

It seems that fastboot write recovery (with your help i need use admin rights now this work) but i still cant boot to recovery no matter how...
I can also flash and backup boot and recovery via Flashify or Rashr and when i open backup with HEX editor it seems that i succesfully upload TWRP but still cannot acess TWRP recovery....
This is all what i try in this time, of course i read your help words about Huawei extractor etc. but not try at this time, i hope i explain more detailed my problem. Look im not a newbie, i allready flash etc. my Lenovo and P9 lite what i have here but not understand where can be problem in this Honor 4x, it seems like corrupted recovery partition or can be problem in read only/write partition - i play with this option before....
anyway - run as admin - this help me a lot i think, THX and wait your answer.
EDIT: one thing, you think that when i try flash stock recovery (i can, no problem of course) it will be work?
Update: Big success, i just try flash stock recovery B064b and now im in stock recovery menu, im surprised but what now? I want update to Marshmallow 6.0....?
But in stock recovery is: phone and the data cannot be recovered. Continue?
Oh sorry, this is about "not sd card inserted" problem
What will now progress? I have inside B130 firmware and want Marshmallow, also TWRP recovery must i flash now especially for B130 firmware for work?
Update: Yes, all working now, factory reset, recovery etc. you help me a lot, only if you can tell me what number of firmware must i upload for Marshmallow, thx
Last update: So finally, coz im too hurry and dont want wait for your answer , i just upload from local update first Android 5.1.1. after this 6.0 and all is perfect and working!
My big thanks and kisses goes to you zzztidurvirus, im lucky and still cant beleive that all works, again thx!!
I did once on Win to revert back to Stock from CM12.1 by using img from update.app file. For my case, it's the MM update.app not working, I couldn't flash img files into phone, then I tried to flash files from LP, it worked. I boot into LP ROM and update from there to MM.
Hey hey people.
I was trying to upgrade my friend's Honor X4 Che2-L11 variant to 6.0 age from it's lollipop and ****ed up - big time. It seems to have a recovery, and it bootloops. I can't get it to install any update.app though, it either errors or gets stuck/crashes at 5%.
Now I am trying to flash a individual stock recovery with fastboot. Like the guide by zzztidurvirus there, but whenever I try to issue flash command this is what I get:
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'RECOVERY' (9304 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.258s]
writing 'RECOVERY'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.261s
- so basically any flash command sends OKAY, Writing Fails with Command not allowed. Bootloader is unlocked, "PHONE unlocked" on screen and same status messages from fastboot as Lulu up there when making queries.
What gives, what could I try still?

Sadly not, as I tried both running ADB fastboot as admin from administrator command line and I tried three different recovery images from huawei, 6.0 (because the flash went bad during attempt to flash a 4.1EMUI with 6.0 B506 ROM for CHE2-L11) - And it keeps denying the write attempt with the same message. More info on the flash: I tried to TWRP flash from 5.1 rom to the EMUI4.1 6.0 ROM following guide someone made with updateappflasher.zip or something, during the flash the phone just crashed 60% in the bar and after that the phone is boot looping into recovery but it can't do anything. Like said any attempt to flash a stock rom even if a recovery seems to exist when booting VOL+ & POWER at the same time, but it will fail if attempting to do wipe data/factory reset in 40% mark. Forced updater can also be accessed but again, thanks to the firmware situation the phone is in it does not flash anything beyond 5% without crashing and being stuck or just giving an error message outright.
Only thing I might have not have is the right kind of ADB drivers but googling about CHE2-L11 I really cannot find a ADB drivers for this phone for life of me and dealing with windows 10 these days makes it worse. At least it used to be that I was with windows 7, back when I myself unlocked the bootloader of the phone and rooted it myself, I have some memory of that being harsh to deal with too, as I had hard time getting drivers that worked right with the phone etc.
I will check into this... At this point my friend bought a new phone already but I still will try to fix the phone for him since I feel personally pretty bad for pretty big mess I made.
I will also try this with a windows XP machine I have still, it is meant entirely for different things but at times like these it is somewhat nice to have a XP around. At least the darn driver problems are not a problem.
UPDATES:
I unbricked the phone. The stock recovery was intact enough for just a normal dload install of a update.app from huawei - why it did not initially work was probably the USB connection to computer and/or 64gig microSD card my friend had, not being compatible with Huawei's recovery updater. I myself had a 8gig card around which worked and I restored the phone ultimately to a 6.0 official ROM. I also went ahead to root it - and final find really was that the reason why recovery etc. would not flash, was because I wrote "fastboot flash RECOVERY twrp.img" - instead of "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" - the latter works, and the all caps for "RECOVERY" results in illegal command error - and it was no bigger than that.
Meanwhile even after sorting this all out my friend already ended up buying a new phone so it hurts but I hope some other people find some info here useful.

TWRP Fastboot Command not allowed (P10)

Hi!
I'm trying to install TWRP on my P10. I've unlocked bootloader on Huawei website.
Whenever I'm typing in fastboot "flash recovery twrp.img" it goes through and everything says OK
But when i try to "fastboot boot twrp.img" I get FAILED (remote: command not allowed)
"fastboot oem device-info" gives me the same error too and "fastboot oem unlock" gives me already fastboot unlocked
What do you thing "fastboot boot twrp.img" should do? This command isn't allowed because it does not exist.
If you want to boot into your flashed TWRP recovery, you have to enter "fastboot reboot" and press volume up while booting - the USB cable has to be disconnected.
Instead of "fastboot oem device-info" try "fastboot Gevtvar unlocked".
or use adb when the phone is running.
"adb reboot recovery"
you can't go direct from fastboot to recovery simply by a command
Yeah, the command was wrong, sorry xD
Anyway I thinks it's fixed now and I'm able to boot manually to recovery from phone now!
jejeje i was coming here to tell you about wrong command
I have the same problem with FAILED (remote: command not allowed). When I try to install or flash anything I see the info about FAILED (remote: command not allowed). I have FRP locked and I can't enable OEM developing option (it is inactive). I can't relock bootloader, can't instal TWRP, I have only simply erocevery where I can't wipe - only reboot and shutdown device.
I tried do update via dload, hwota - all with defeat
In ADB and Fastboot I can see my device connected.
Does anyone have any idea?
do you have instaled driver for P10, does computer recognice device like P10 ?

Any news? My p10+ it's in the same case
same problem im already unlock but the twr not install what is propper command
Hey guys, for all of you with "command not allowed" problem, you have to check OEM unlock setting on developer options but if you have a greyed out button, you need to flash again your stock room with a tool like dc-phoenix unlocker and bypass frp lock (on YouTube you will find tons of videos regarding this matter). Also, you can check if your Fastboot is protected (frp locked) on Fastboot screen...
There you go---> https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ution-bl-unlockedfrp-locked-fastboot-t3684302
PS READ the post to the END!! don't make mistakes it's really easy and fast. It works!
Hi guys.
I know this thread is pretty old but I'm getting the exact same problem as the OP except on my P20 Pro: I can flash a recovery but not boot one from fastboot.
The biggest difference is that my bootloader is unlocked and I have FRP Unlock, so according to every post I've seen it SHOULD be working.
My fastboot log:
PS C:\adb> fastboot devices
LCL0218415002142 fastboot
PS C:\adb> fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-charlotte.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.187s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.187s

Have you try this command fasboot reboot recovery_ramdisk?
I get:
PS C:\adb> fastboot reboot recovery_ramdisk
fastboot: usage: unknown reboot target recovery_ramdisk
with "fastboot boot recovery_ramdisk" I get
error: cannot load 'recovery_ramdisk': No such file or directory
I sorted out my problem from a different angle so I no longer need to boot to TWRP from fastboot. Thanks for your help!

This was quite some time back so I don't remember all that well, but I think I just used the built in Huawei recovery, erecovery, to restore my whole phone and then I was able to reinstall my custom recovery and boot to it normally. I can't guarantee this as I don't remember the whole context of this. Using erecovery I didn't lose my locally stored files, only my apps and app data. Hope this helps.

Question about

Hi everybody, I have a little question regarding my P10.
The model of my phone is VTR-L09C521B101
Is there a way to flash this phone with VTR-L09C432 version?
or i need to flash with same model version (VTR-L09C521)?
Thnks
Yes, it is possible to 'rebrand'. The procedure is explained in the Mate 9 forum. It is not so easy and involves unlocking the bootloader.
Updating can be done with the Firmware Finder (Playstore).

thanks for the answer!!
regarding bootloader, the phone shows this:
PHONE RELOCKED
FRP LOCK
ADB shows me that the phone is unlocked, the problem is when I try to send something to phone it shows:
Error Remote command not allowed.
any ideas?
thanks!
I've tried to reword the mate 9 instructions for the p10 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/help/rebrand-firmware-finder-t3685951
As for adb, what command are you trying? Do you see your phone if you type ADB Devices?

Quintman, no the phone is not listed with adb devices command. I can only enter with fastboot.
Let me paste the commands that I have tried:
C:\adb>fastboot devices
WPG7N17320000978 fastboot
C:\adb>fastboot oem get-bootinfo
...
(bootloader) unlocked
OKAY [ 0.001s]
finished. total time: 0.001s
C:\adb>fastbot oem lock <my_unlock_code>
...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.016s
C:\adb>fastboot oem unlock <my_unlock_code>
...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.016s
C:\adb>fastboot oem relock <my_unlock_code>
...
FAILED (remote: stat not match)
finished. total time: 0.016s
The Strange thing is that in the phone shows PHONE RELOCKED, not unlocked as ADB shows.
Since I uploaded boot img of another version (C432) full OTA, could this be the problem? in this case what can I do?
thanks for your help!!
Could this be happening because of FRP Lock?, none of the software I have tried (DC-phoenix, chimera and Unlocker v2) worked. Im this close to throw this f*ckin phone to trash u.u

edit: just found this in another thread "FRP Lock occurs when the phone has a firmware mismatch and or oem unlocking is not on in developer options"
Hmm, i've just checked my phone and in fastboot it says PHONE Locked, and FRP Unlock. I think that may be your issue. What exactly did you do to flash your phone with the other version? put an UPDATE.APP into a \Dload folder and 3 button update?
is your phone booting (guessing not). my guess is that you need to get a hold of your stock firmware file an flash that first.

Ok, this is what I've done step by step:
1.- With the unlock code provided by huawei, I have unlocked my phone (my version is VTR-L09C521B101 stock)
2.- Once unlocked, I have downloaded another ROM version (VTR-L29C605B151) in the web page says this rom is for latin america), so with the Huawei Update Extractor, I have extracted all files.
3.- Via ADB/FASTBOOT, I sent the files to my phone, boot.img first and then the others. (big big mistake!)
4.- Rebooted the phone, and then keeps restarting at huawei logo.
5.- Seeing that it did´t worked, what I did was to lock the phone again thinking to send it to Huawei (at this point the phone shows as "unlocked" via fastboot commands, however when I start the phone in fastboot mode, in the screen shows "PHONE RELOCKED, FRP LOCK"
6.- Sent to huawei's service, they said that they cannot fix my phone because it was tampered/rooted.
7.- Right now all I need to fix my phone is to LOCK/UNLOCK again in order to rebrand it to L29 version, since the original stock rom dont exist (not as FULL OTA).
And that´s what I did so far my friend.
Questions:
1.- Is there a way to connect to my phone and change the oem info file? or something?
2.- Do I need to wait the stock rom to be released in order to reflash via Dload method?
3.- What if the stock ROM version of my phone is never released?
thank you for your answer my friend!!
Hmm ok. I am just not sure on your step 3, I've never heard of a method that involves a boot.img... what I would suggest, is to try and download the stock firmware files (need the larger full ota files), extract the update.app file and put on sd card in \dload.
Then hold down both volume up and down and power (3 button method)
It will try and flash the stock image back to the phone.
I just tried the Dload method and nothing happened (always stuck in 5%), now im going to try to use a smaller memory card (mine is 64 Gb). lood

Yes sr!!

Bootloop, flash locked. What can I do?

Short story: my phone bootloops (shows the Android One screen for 3 seconds, then reboots), and I cannot unlock the flash in fastboot. fastboot oem unlock fails, fastboot flashing unlock fails, fastboot flashing critical_unlock fails.
What can I do, is my phone definitely bricked?
Long story: I installed september OTA and then rooted with Magisk using the image patch method. Now I wanted to get October OTA, so uninstalled Magisk to recover the unpatched bootloader, but the OTA refused to install. So I tried the flash_all method, but it failed because I did not do the critical unlock. So I tried the fastboot flash critical_unlock, but it continuously refused to work.
So I decided to agan lock flash, and do the oem lock, to restart the unlock procedure from the beginning. But after locking, the phone does not boot anymore (and it was booting fine before!). On top of that, I cannot oem unlock anymore, fastboot oem unlock always fails.
Is there any way to recover the phone?
Try fastboot oem edl
then use mi flash
Thanks for help.
Unfortunately fastboot oem edl fails:
Code:
# fastboot oem edl
FAILED (remote: Device is already locked!)
Finished. Total time: 0.001s
And as fastboot oem unlock also fails, I cannot unlock the bootloader.

I'll need more info than that
what's the error you get when using oem unlock or unlock_critical?
are you using minimal adb? If so, don't, use this instead https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Are you using a usb 3.0 port? Switch to a usb 2.0 if you are
I am working from Linux, and I have the full Android Studio installed. I cannot use adb, since I cannot boot the phone (and as far as I know, adb does not work on fastboot, but I might be wrong).
I will try with the one you linked and come back with the results.

Minimal adb includes fastboot, if you have minimal adb or you installed it from the repo then it's outdated, use the one I linked
Nothing was working for me, so finally I recovered the phone by opening it and using the deep flash method.
