When I open any video in the Photos app I get the error "the camera has stopped" and it closes... I've tried a reboot, cleared the camera cache and data, disabled and enabled the camera app...
Edit: Actually just opening Google Photos results in the Camera crashing and closing both. Tried deleting the Photos cache as well to no avail...
Are you using the stock camera? Or a different apk?
Stock (Nokia). Resolved the problem by accident, I think it was a photo or video stuck in the backup queue. I started the phone in safe mode, tested the photos app (which didn't crash) and it was fixed after that.

Ok.... all my Pics I've taken with my camera disappeared... in Gallery, Camera they re gone but they re still on my SD card.... any ideas?
Download a media rescan app and force a rescan. Gallery only sees what the scan picks up, there's no "Gallery folder"..

You can download cleanmaster from the app store and clear the cache..that will more than likely fix it.
Gallery app shows many blank pictures, when i click details or edit the blank picture, gallery stopped working. I have deleted the .thumbnails folder , clear data and cache in gallery apps, but it didn't work. i have tried google photos apps, but it showed the same. What should i do?
btw, third party camera apps still not working.
Picked up a Moto X Play for family in Canada.
The Camera interface isn't the most intuitive, was hoping to use Google Camera but every app I seem to use seems to crash when switching from camera to camcorder mode, currently on the March security update for Marshmallow.
Does anyone else have this issue or can recommend a decent camera app as an alternative?
Try Open Camera or Manual Camera.
Yeah open camera is a nice one.The stock camera app is working normal on mine.Try to clean cache of the stock camera app.

Google Camera 2.7 is actually working, so the problem is with version 3.1 and later... Guess that's why they pulled it from the Play Store

Google Camera only goes up to 3.2 and Open Camera 1.28.1

Sorry i was mistaken with motorola stock camera app. Maybe google camera is crashing because it cant find a gyroscope sensor which is needed for the 360 pictures.
Looking for a camera app as well; stock Motorola camera is too slow on launch in taking pictures or I itializing video. I've tried clearing data and cache. Google Camera works besides camcorder mode.
I used Open Camera. After installation, the first time I have it hung. Resetting and poked in the settings. In the "interface settings" disabled "show slope" and "show the direction of the compass." As long as such no longer hangs.

I have disabled Google Photos and installed Simple Gallery app.
Now I have a problem in that when I click on the in-camera "preview" thumbnail (lower right), normally it would've opened Google Photos gallery, however as that is now disabled I expected to open Simple Gallery.
The problem is it doesn't.
I tried to look and reset the "Default gallery app", but there is no such setting.
Is the Nokia Camera app hardwired to only work with Google Photos?

I am on the most recent 11 Beta. But on the previous Beta, as well as stock 10, and still now I am having a problem with video recording. It will stop recording for no apparent reason. I video record while I am driving occasionally, like a black box, and the video will repeatedly just stop. It is NOT due to hitting 4GB file size. I am using stock camera app. I tried unistalling updates as I've seen suggested, no change. I've cleared cache, data, reinstalled latest version of camera app, rebooted...nothing works. I have video stabilization set to "on".
Anyone have any other suggestions? Thx!
