Help with nemid app - Magisk

Hi
Could use some help getting this app to work.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.e_nettet.mobilekey.everyone
Safetynet check succes. Certified in play store. Rootbeer fails in busybox.
Log here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RFjOtX8oGTk2U0qi3n9NMF-8nGZnLbKL/view?usp=drivesdk
Anyone can help??

Just hide the Manager.
https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_Hiding_the_Magisk_Manager

Thanks. But unfortunately still not work

If I add the app to the Hide list and also have the Manager hidden it starts just fine without complaining about root. Could be your busybox installation that is causing issues. Uninstall it and use @osm0sis busybox from the Magisk Downloads instead. Magisk will take care of hiding that.

Thanks for your advise. Tried several options to remove busybox. No files in system/xbin, but busybox still fails in check. Any solutions?

Open up a terminal emulator and type the following:
Code:
which busybox
That should tell you where you have busybox installed.

Thanks. Please se attached.
No result with your command, but busybox still detected.

Magisk NemID FIX
I have been able to hide magisk without removing the magisk manager app as a quick fix.
After the lastest update for nemid, they just searched for the app name (Magisk Manager) and then blocked you cause of root.
Steps for magisk manager to hide it from Nemid
1. Hide magisk manager under settings so it gets another package name.
2. Go to downloads under magisk manager and install the Xposed SDK 27 (for my version of OS 8.1) systemless module
3. Install Xposed installer to manage next step
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
4. Install Xprivacylua for lastest version of OS like mine
https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacyLua/blob/master/README.md
5. Reboot untill it says active under Xposed installer app.
Maybe flik the status setting in Xposed installer app and reboot again
6. If it says active you are golden. Go to modules in Xposed installer app and enable xprivacylua
8. Go to xprivacylua app and find nemid app and expand and enable the block app overview/list (mine is on Danish so don't know presisely what it's called)
9. Check nemid app
This method worked for me and hope it will help others too.

Help - Systemless Root

Hello,
First off, I am using a Oneplus 5 device running 7.1.1 Nougat.
I followed this guide to root my phone with Magisk 13.2 https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3624877
I am able to download apps that require root, and grant them said root access.
However when trying to give AdAway Systemless root access (In preferences) the checkbox is greyed out and unusable.
So far so bad.
When trying to install BusyBox, and try to select a different install path (/su/xbin or /su/bin) I get the error message : "Systemless root is not configured, please choose another install location"
If I go into Magisk Manager both BusyBox and AdAway are Granted Root access, and when checking settings, Hosts Systemless is activated.
Am I simply blind and have I missed a step? On the Magisk Manager Homescreen, it says I have the latest version installed, and MAGIKSU is also validated.
Help please? I'm confused. D:
For AdAway you shouldn't have to bother with the systemless option. Just enable Systemless hosts in the Magisk Manager.
You could also use a Magisk module. There's a great one called Unified Hosts Adblocker. Unfortunately there's a bug in the Manager at the moment that makes it crash when downloading modules. They can be installed manually though (there's a download in the thread).
For busybox you've got a great installer here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239421
It'll install as a Magisk module when flashed in recovery.
Hello,
I've followed your suggestion and manually installed Unified Hosts Adblocker. I'm assuming it will update on it's own when required? As it has no interface. (Also, I am still getting ads, is this normal? xD)
So installing AdAway won't trigger SafetyNet as long as I have "Hosts Systemless" checked right?
I have also flashed the BusyBox installer from the link you gave me. It shows up on Magisk Modules, however it hasn't created a busybox icon in my applist. (Again, no interface? Is this installed correctly?)
Furthermore, I've looked around a bit, and is it true I currently can not expect to run Xposed Framework on Nougat?
Thank you for your current answers, in the hopes of further ones.
With the hosts module you'll have to run it manually. Use a terminal emulator and type su followed by hosts and then follow the instructions. The m option is included in all the others... Don't forget to enable systemless hosts or it won't work. More about how you use the module in the thread.
There's no interface for the busybox installation, no. There's no need really...
---------- Post added at 17:27 ---------- Previous post was at 17:26 ----------
Oh yeah. No Xposed for Nougat.
Thanks for your help, it's been of great assistance and sets my mind to rest that nothing really went wrong with my installation of Magisk. I'll keep an eye out for the Manager updates that'll fix the downloads.
I was once again just wondering about the updating of busybox, but I'll just assume that if I get a "Update busybox" from any app, I'll come back to the post you directed me to and update it that way.
You didn't answer my pondering about Xposed, but once again I'll just assume what I found is true and the developer currently hasn't had time to update it yet, and it may take a while.
Thank you for your time and the peace of mind you've procured me.

Request/Question: How can I hide Magisk from Banking App if MagiskHide fails?

Is there anywhere I can request a patch or something for an app that needs to be tricked?
It would be great if I could keep root, but unfortunately my bank no longer offers any other TAN service apart from SecureGo.
Here's the link to the app: SecureGO Banking App
I tried selecting it in MagiskHide, but that did not do anything.
I also tried reducing it to only core features or hiding the Magisk Manager. Nothing worked.
As soon as I remove Magisk and un-root, the app works again.
Any help would be much appreciated
Unless you can find exactly what the app is detecting (and possibly also a way to circumvent it), I believe the answer to that query would be that it's a no-go.
@topjohnwu is only one guy, working on Magisk in his spare time. There are a few helping out with testing and stuff, but things like this generally need to come from the community.
If I had the skills I would do it myself, but I unfortunately do not
Maybe a dirty fix which would also be useful to others would be if there was a way to remove root for a single reboot.
So have a setting for Magisk to temporarily remove just the root and then re-install root at the next boot.
Would this be possible?

Have you tried adding it to Magisk Hide and then Hiding Magisk Manager (option in settings, Magisk 14 Stable+). Works for me, App crashes otherwise so I'm assuming it's picking up the Magisk package name. This is a temporary solution but it works, no reboot required (though I did have to force close the app and re open it)
Sorry for double post, xda labs won't let me add an attachment to in edit mode. Added picture.
I added it to MagiskHide already. Also tried hiding Magisk.
Did you try it with the app I linked or with a different app?

I tested the app you linked on one of my devices. By adding it to the hide list and hiding the Manager I managed to get it started, but if it had previously detected root it only opened if I forced stopped the app before opening it, just like @manor7777 posted above.
Fascinating! I will try it again.
I uninstalled Magisk. Then opened SecureGo. Worked.
Now I will reinstall Magisk, install SecureGo. Add it to the hide-list, force close SecureGo and then try to open it.

I did. And it still won't work [emoji15]
Samsung Stock, TWRP recovery. Booted to TWRP, installed Magiskv14.0. Rebooted. Opened Magisk and checked SafetyNet. All good.
Installed SecureGo. Added SecureGo to MagiskHide.
Hid the Magisk Manager so it was then shown as Unhide Magisk Manager or something like that.
Opened the freshly installed SecureGo app for the very first time (couldnt force close as it had never been opened before).
App crashes [emoji52]
Do you have 14.0 or 14.2 beta installed? Anything else I might not have installed? Or systemless host. Or just Magisk Core? Or anything?

I'm using the v14.2 beta, so it's possible that's what's making a difference...
Other than that I have systemless hosts enabled and a bunch of different modules, but nothing that would make any difference in this case.
Weird. I tried 14.2 now. Same old. Crashes right away. I even uninstalled Magisk Manager and rebooted to try and see if it finds Magisk somehow.
Nothing. Cannot get it to work -.-

I had tried that already. Although I tried the latest beta. But that should work "better", right?
Fix found.
I had the same problem using the updated Santander app.
Here's my fix:
Force close and wipe ALL data from the app.
Open Magisk and hide root from the app.
Reboot and open the application!
Hope this helps!

Santander app is not working on custom ROM or root device

Hi Guys!
I've been following the topic about the TEZ app and I have a similar problem with Santander app. When I used the Android N with SuperSU, Santander has worked and still works today in my old S7. When I upgraded my Note 8 for Android Oreo the application didn't work anymore, not even open. I've tried a couple of 5 custom rom and none worked.
Last week I read the topic about TEZ and removed phone permission to the google phone play services and Santander ran until yesterday, but I lost the root in Magisk and restarted the Note 8 and the Santander didn't open more. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Magisk and Santander and not solved.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've tested the UK app, and all I need to do for it to start is to add it to the Hide list. Nothing else... If I don't, it complains about root and doesn't start. It looks like a very simple root detection.

I got that, all I'm saying is that it's possible to hide root from the app... And that the root detection doesn't seem that sophisticated.
There might be something about your ROM that you're using. Do you pass SafetyNet, and does all checks in Rootbeer Sample return ok if you add it to the Hide list?

According to Rootbeer you do have busybox, so maybe it comes with the ROM. Check for that.
And, since the app is asking for phone permissions, have you also added the phone to the Hide list? That works for some of these apps...

A) For Enabling ADB Debugging On Your Device
HTML:
To use adb with a device connected over USB, you must enable USB debugging in the device system settings, under Developer options.
On Android 4.2 and higher, the Developer options screen is hidden by default. To make it visible, go to Settings > About phone and tap Build number seven times. Return to the previous screen to find Developer options at the bottom.
On some devices, the Developer options screen might be located or named differently.
You can now connect your device with USB. You can verify that your device is connected by executing adb devices from the android_sdk/platform-tools/ directory. If connected, you'll see the device name listed as a "device".

Have you checked if the ROM includes busybox by default? Check with the developer, or you could just try to run it... In a terminal emulator, just type busybox (it's possible you need to run su first) and see if you get a result.

So yes, the ROM comes with busybox included.
I haven't checked your log (it's no fun reading logs on a phone), so I don't know if there's anything in there about the app triggering because of that. But, it's certainly a possibility
You could try a different ROM that doesn't include busybox. If you then do need busybox, the best option is to install the busybox Magisk module from the Manager Downloads. That won't be detected.

Didn't work either. I guess will have to wait for an update. I have tried so far:

Clear app cache
Reboot

Magisk Hide - Check against the banking app
Clear app cache
Reboot
Also - Magisk v19.3, Magisk Manager v7.3.1(222)

disable developer mode?
and you need to hide magisk manager itself.not just magisk hide.
Try executing
Code:
su -c chmod 000 /proc/net/unix
in a terminal. Several banking apps now use a very stupid and shaky root detection heuristic that is circumvented in this way.
(see https://github.com/Ingan121/UDSBypass).
A banking app on my phone (keytradebank, belgian bank) worked fine with Magisk Hide but after an update stopped working.
Disabling read access to /proc/net/unix did the trick for me!
Looked it up, this rootbeerFresh code is really brain-dead, even the presence of busybox will make isRooted() return true
No concern for false positives at all.

Remember that app says it COULD be root.
If anyone is paying attention to it yet.

Busybox
Some apps detect Busybox and see this as a sign of your device being compromised (rooted). Magisk should be able to hide any Busybox installed as a Magisk module. osm0sis has a great Busybox module available in the Magisk repo (install from the Magisk Manager, under "Downloads").
Figuring out if an app has dependencies, looks for "sensitive props", Busybox, etc
It can be tricky figuring out if an app is dependent on another app or process for detecting root, expects certain prop values, doesn't like Busybox or whatever is triggering a root warning within the app. Apart from trying one thing/prop at a time, finding this out could mean you have to decompile the apk to look at the source code (use search), grab a logcat when the app is detecting root, etc.
Detecting apps requiring root
There are apps that detect known apps that require root and refuse to work properly or even start if that is the case. Usual suspects include (but aren't limited to) busybox apps, Xposed installer, root hiding apps, etc.
This can be worked around by uninstalling or possibly freezing (Titanium Backup can do this, among others) the offending root app when you need to use an app detecting root apps and reinstalling/unfreezing it afterwards. Cumbersome, but it might work. There are also some Xposed modules that can hide apps from other apps, but having Xposed installed might cause other issues with tampering detection...
@mrspeccy Thank you for pointing out that workaround. Works for me too for the Keytrade app

How did you do that?
su -c chmod 000 /proc/net/unix didn't work for me.

yes, in a terminal on your phone or using 'adb shell'
be aware it's not a permanent fix, a reboot will restore the old permissions on /proc/net/unix
so you have to remove read access after every reboot.
Quite clumsy.
To make this easier on the go, I installed termux, created in the home directory a small file 'hide' with the one-liner,
Code:
su -c chmod 440 /proc/net/unix
Note: 000 works just as well, but 440 is closer to the original permission and works too.
so after a reboot i open termux terminal and type the command
Code:
. hide

Try these...
1. From your magisk, install these 2 modules: Riru - Core, and Riru - EdXposed (Sandbox or Yahfa is okay]
2. Reboot your device to activate both modules.
3. Install Xposed Installer APK by DVDandroid. You can get it here: https://dl-xda.xposed.info/modules/d...v33_36570c.apk
4. Reboot to activate the Xposed Installer app
5. Inside Xposed Installer app, go to downloads and install the HiddenCore Module.
6. Reboot and go back to Magisk, and hide.
7. Test to see if everything is now okay.

Nope! It Doesn't Work With SBI YONO Or BHIM.
My Cofidis app also keeps detecting root.
Have latest version magisk, latest version of magiskmanager and renamed it. Magisk is hidding. App is in magisk hide list.
chmod suggestion did not work
Running latest version of lineageos on my htc u11. I think the issues started when I installed the latest build (11/08).
Any suggestions to fix this?
Same issue here with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.mobeepass.nfcniceticket
Is there any way to troubleshoot what triggers the root detection?

Using my app VD INFOS you can see every detectable thing. (Root/Magisk/Xposed/Riru/and others.)
And then you can fix what needs to be fixed.

Banking app detects root on multiple devices.

My banking app (PermataMobile X) is detecting root with Safetynet passed and Magisk Manager hidden. I asked some other people to install and see if they can pass the root detection to no avail.
I've tried some little things to narrow down the culprit like:
1. Installed Magisk Manager without flashing the magisk 20.4 zip file (unrooted). Detected as root. Uninstalling the manager immediately allows bank app to work.
2. Flashed Magisk 20.4 without installing Magisk Manager. Detected as root, obviously.
3. Went back to previous versions of Magisk and Magisk Manager. Still detected as root.
Anyone can give any tips on what else I can try to do?

If you can pass SafetyNet (cts profile) try to hide :
Magisk Manager with a random name (mandatory) ... and "Your banking app" must be hidden too along with Google Services of course !
There are currently several ways of detecting Magisk that MagiskHide can't circumvent.
If the app isn't using one of those (if it is you'll just have to wait for a possible update to Magisk), you can find some tips and tricks here:
https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_Hiding_root_from_apps
Magisk cannot hide:
Other known root apps (see "Detecting apps requiring root"). (Shouldn't be a problem since even with a renamed manager and magisk unflashed it still works.)
Remnants of previous root method, including any root management apps (a good way to remove most remnants of root is osm0sis unSU script). (Magisk is unflashed and app immediately works.)
Unlocked bootloader (see Unlocked bootloader). (Magisk is unflashed and bootloader unlocked, app still works. I also tried custom rom and the stock rom.)
A tripped Samsung Knox counter. (Not a samsung phone.)
Xposed (deactivate it or uninstall). It doesn't matter if it's systemless, Magisk can't hide it. (Never used.)
EdXposed. Detection of EdXposed can sometimes be worked around with newer release of EdXposed and/or features like the EdXposed Manager blacklist. (Never used.)
USB/ADB Debugging (disable under Developer options in Android settings). (Magisk unflashed and debugging on, app works.)
Developer options. (Magisk unflashed and developer options is on, app works.)
Some Magisk modules - Depending on what the module does, it may not be able to be hidden by MagiskHide. (Tried core only mode which should disable all modules, still don't work.)
Some modifications to /system. Make sure to use Magisk modules... (I'm not sure what this means :c)
From that list it looks like it's something from Magisk itself that's tripping the detection :/
Im going bald from this.

If you've tested and confirmed everything else, it is very likely that the app is using a detection method that Magisk currently can't hide from.
Solution? Wait for @topjohnwu to possibly update Magisk/MagiskHide (alternatively, don't install Magisk). When? Whenever he feels like it...

Looks like someone posted a potential fix. Will wait for it to reach the master branch!
Have you find the workaround? I am using the same app and face same problem. This app last update gives headache
I am hidding root and edxposed using Island and installing intune inside the sandbox. Maybe the same will be with bank apps.
@kubis111
i'm happy for you, but please...this isn't your thread so do not OOT, OP problem isn't solving yet

Sorry to be just now, but to the point of solution to this,
1. Install the disable services app and disable a process called "S17"
2. Done
