Has anyone managed to get any Treble ROMs working? I tried the 3 from this post but they just cause a bootloop https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
Do yourself a favour and remove your password / pin / pattern as i've just flashed one via fastboot (no treble recovery)
And it didn't work, now i can't get back into TWRP.
Any ideas?
No new treble ROMs work with our P20 pro's.. its the same for me which is why I'm back on stock for now... As every new version of treble ROMs I have tried do not boot for me they just stick me in a boot loop as well, its the same for the new version of lineageos.. Not sure if it will ever be fixed in the future though on newer builds considering the whole Huawei locking bootloader permanently thing... will probably put developers off Huawei phones all together...

How did you get back to Stock? I have no OS now at all lol, i'm in limbo
Erecovery I used.. when booting and you get the unlock boot screen it will tell you to hold volume up I think for 3 seconds to go to erecovery and then just download and restore stock firmware and recovery and let the phone do it's work!

Yea i used eRecovery a little earlier myself, we really need twrp which actually allows decryption or even twrp which allows treble
Either that or decrypt and use no verity, haven't bothered with all that yet.
After today though, jesus i'm thinking about it, i literally ended up with nothing, all my wifi networks in work need a second log in, something which eRecovery can't offer.
Completed it when i got home.
Have you managed to install any treble roms? Has anybody?
I don't think it's possible on my device in it's current state, i tried TWRP, Fastboot, several different roms on both and nothing.
Spotted this earlier, might actually work on our devices, what do you think?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...rp-3-2-1-0-t3782866/post76668571#post76668571
It's a treble recovery from the p20 lite forum, similar device, might work, anyone fancy trying it
PS: If i flash this can i just flash my Unofficial TWRP from our forum should it not work? Or can damage be done?
I have no idea! I assume the issues are because of twrp or something in that area.. I have tried flashing system images via fastboot but for some reason I get errors trying it.. I'm not sure what the main issue is on why they don't boot but i would strongly suggest to not try flashing any twrp that's not specifically for our device as you could brick or even break your phone!

Apparently you don't need to use twrp at all, I've successfully flashed system images, via fastboot, but they've never booted which is horrible because there's just nothing else here.
In regards to flashing twrp, again apparently if it goes wrong then we can just flash the stock recovery, personally I think flashing another functional recovery would work too. But in all fairness the one in the p20 lite thread doesn't work any more than ours does in the pro thread.
Just hoping things move along.
Yeah I'd assume so.. I haven't been able to flash any image via fastboot but I'd assume it's the ROMs not the recovery.. anyway just heard that Huawei have released the Source code for the P20 so maybe it might be good news for the treble ROMs if they were to implement fixes for the boot loops!

Sounds superb on any other flagship in the world, really hope this one picks up, it's a great device, never been happier with a stock ROM before, I think with all aosp lineage ROMs there's going to be huge issues fixing the cameras. Twos hard enough, 3 lol very hard.
Not trying to be negative just a bit worried is all
Can someone take a video of the boot loop
There's actually a method to how this phone loops. It could indicate the problem
Not sure about the camera but there's always ports into the future.. anything is possible! But could be a while till we are able to be booting any decent treble ROMs.. but then again as the source code has been released it may not be that long.. depends how quick the developers for treble react and whether or not they have a Huawei device to work with to fix our issues..
All we can do is hope!

I will give it a try flashing a system image again tomorrow and take a video of it if I'm able to! But someone else needs to give it a try too just incase I don't get time please? The best way I can explain it is once the system.img is flashed in twrp I restart system as normal and it boots up normally with the Huawei logo when phone turns on then goes to bootloader unlocked screen and press different buttons for different options to boot from or wait until device boots normally so I wait for it to boot normally and soon as I get past the unlocked bootloader screen it just instantly reboots and just keeps rebooting doing that!

What signs are you looking for?
First time I tried it went from the press up for 3 seconds page then black, then vibrate then back to solid white Huawei, repeated 3 times until eRecovery asked to wipe.
For me after that point I flashed another and it went through to a lower case android sign, changing times from white to silver in a flow type effect, it stayed that way for around 10 minutes then back to eRecovery, flashing another treble ROM did the same thing.
Currently running: c782, 110, L09 p20 Pro, unofficial twrp and magisk.
The initial installation was via twrp, subsequent flashes wereb performed via fastboot.
Thats pretty much the same for me of what happens! Just boots then get a boot loop and black screen and back to the Huawei logo again from the start.. never able to actually boot a rom..

I thought the idea of treble was to match the Android version?
Seems as though it's trial and error with what's allowed.
Treble is still a work in development at the moment.. it doesn't help as well that Huawei are being assholes and making developers want to stay away from Huawei completely due to the whole locking bootloader thing but hopefully there are a couple of developers out there that keeps our devices in mind and hopefully means we will see a fix for our devices soon.. but when that is I have no idea..

Aye it looks grim, that being said though, the stock ROM with a few tweaks is excellent, I've never once liked a stock ROM before on any device.
Root is easy, twrp is workable, bootloader was a breeze, we only have one actual ROM (LOS) but by all accounts even the p20 Pro camera works exactly the same on that, with that in mind what more do we need?
Course I'd like to be up to my neck in baked ROMs but if you're honest we truly only stick with one or two, as it turns out the two we have are pretty great.
Maybe I'm being optimistic
Just had a reply from another thread, quite interesting...

Yes, lol
the way i did it was with a stock recovery and system image
boot into erecovery and do a factory reset or a fastboot -w
boot back into the bootloader
flash the system image for the treble rom
then go into erecovery and do a factory reset
and then it should boot no problem at all
twrp cant wipe properly on treble roms
ive done the same on my p20 lite today, all stock and no issues booting at all
let me know how you get on
:good:

Hi, i have been occupied all day to get this to work, it just doesnt. i have followed the exact steps you layed out but when i try to factory reset after flashing the treble rom using fastboot it just gives me the error: "reset failed". I have tried using other GSI images but none work, had to restore my phone thrice because of this. I dont know what is the issue. These are the steps i followed:
1. Went completely stock ( no twrp or root )
2. Successfully factory reset my device.
3. Boot into fastboot and then flash a treble GSI.
4. as soon as the device turned on, went to the recovery to attempt a data wipe but at around 60% of the process completion the recovery gives the error with a red exclamation mark enclosed in the circle.
My device is a CLT-29 (C185). Was really looking forward to treble as my previous device was a Oneplus.

Perhaps if your device was debrand? Could that be it?
Maybe it's just not meant to be

I have update my rooted OP 3T by flashing the complete rom through TWRP.. But the problem is whenever I flash the Supersu version : SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 or SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742, I am getting bootloop.
Please anyone advise me.
I checked that without flashing SuperSU phone is able to Boot safely.
Thank you in advance.
It's normal if it bootloops once or twice
But if it's more than that then it's problematic
So which one is it
Another thing you can try is try magisk root instead of supersu and see if gets the same result
Phone was stucked in bootloop for an hour without any reboot.
I am not fond of magisk yet... So dont have any plan for it.
Just want to know if this happens to only me or there are many others with same issue.
Edit:
Finally installed Magisk for root... Issue closed.

That is not the proper way to unroot (go back to stock). Relocking the bootloader while rooted was asking for trouble. There is a guide on how to return to stock in the Guides section.
Also, fastboot commands will only work while in fastboot mode, if the phone is looping, or otherwise stuck on any other screen/mode, than fastboot commands will not work. It's also a bit irrelevant, as your ability to flash anything with a locked bootloader is very limited. That's the whole purpose of a locked bootloader.
I'd start by making sure you are in fastboot, get fastboot working, and unlock the bootloader again. Then follow the proper process to return to stock.

Iam i stuck here for ever ?
can u tell me the command that i can try on an phone with a locked bootloader
I forgot this is an edit the first time Gentlemen, I am absolutely at wit's end now I am no geek with a capital G however I have been modifying phones for some 3 years now and I can't even tell you how many times I flashed ROMs my beloved 3T 3T has had been acting glitchy lately like when I would reboot the circle that turns - instead of just turning evenly it would twitch, it was such a small thing I ignored it but I think now that that's must be have been indication something was not right few other things like that. I flashed the Freedom ROM cuz I'm so sick a Google and Google Assistant when I came out I was in a bootloop so I wiped everything except OTG everything and formatted data did the ROM Flash again the a boot Loop still abides and I've done it a dozen times now sometimes a couple of times it it just it kept recycling the bootloop another time and got hung up on the OnePlus it just sat there on the logo and if I miss something obvious I do apologize I'm tired and I'm at wits end because I'm not used to not being able to solve my own problems I guess so any help at all or just even a heading in the right direction would be so much appreciated that I don't even know how to call it quantify it thank you
By the way I seldom post or even post questions but when I do I always pretty much say the same thing you guys are the best this is the one place I can come for Andrew Android advice or or guidance and I just I absolutely trust what I read so thank you thank you thank you thanks for being there
Edit - I'm so tired I forgot the first time I went to reflash the ROM it told me that my 3T was in fact not a 3T that it was a three and I read someplace so I'm XDA that that's just Corruption of the install script so I downloaded it again I ran 7-Zip it said it was coherent so I flash it again if that's important but thanks again

sir, i have oneplus 3t a3010. Last night my phone was crashed and after crashing it restarts and jumps to recovery mode. In recovery mode i wipe all data and restart my phone. But i still doing the restart thing. Please help, what to do now.
Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
My oneplus 3 is stuck in recovery mode
My bootloader is locked
Everytime i switch on my phone there is a message
Which is on photo below
Hi, well it looks like i have probably hard bricked my phone. After updating to nougat i decided to do afresh clean install. I wanted my phone to as if i had just bought it and came with nougat/emui 5 installed. So i did a factory reset from within the settings menu. But then i thought i would completely erase everything and start from the latest build before nougat, so emui 4.1.2/ marshmallow. So after wiping all the partitions in twrp and then doing a volume up + power to do complete factory wipe followed by using the three button method to install the B130 UPDATE.APP in dload folder on my sdcard, all worked as expected. The update completed at 100% and then rebooted. So there i am waiting for my phone to boot to start the setup process as i have done dozens of times before...BUT...my phone will not boot to the initial setup wizard. It just stays stuck on the Honor logo pulsing animation for ever and ever and ever!!!!!!
So i do the volume up + power button to get to stock recovery and do factory wipe and cache wipe as well. It works as expected so i reboot and once again use the 3 button method to install the update.app on my sdcard. That works as expected and at 100% says its succeeded and reboots. Once again i wait for it to boot to the initial setup wizard but....ALAS...it stays on that DAMN pulsing Honor logo. Ive tried rebooting it several times, redoing the factory wipe and install several times, but nothing. Ive gone into fastboot mode (volume down + power) to try and flash the boot.img and system.img ive extracted from update.app but get the error message -- remote: command failed -- and the same if i try to unlock bootloader. Obviously its not going to work because my bootloader isnt unlocked and nor can i got in to developer settings to enable oem unlock and turn USB debugging on because my phone wont boot past that bloody honor logo.
The only thing i havent done yet is to use eRecovery but i dont have broadband and i doesnt seem to work over public wifi! So i will go to my friends tomorrow and use their broadband and hopefullly eRecovery will download/restore the latest firmware. The only other thing i can think of is to download the original nem-l51c432B102 that came with my phone when bought, extract the update.app file and replace the B130 i have on my sdcard dload folder at present.
Sorry for such a long post but i wanted to expalin evrything in detail to hopefully resolve my problem without going backwards and forwards with questions and answers and taking for ever.
So ANYONE and EVERYONE who managed to read the whole post, if you have even the slightest idea of how to get my phone working, please oh please share it with me. Also my phone is still under warranty so if i needed to send it to a huawei centre to get it fixed would they do it and do it for free??? because eseentialy all i did was a factory wipe/reset and install a frmware and it goes KAPUT!! thats not my fault right????!!???
Thank you to one and all for any wisdom you can share. :crying::crying:

Can you please edit your post ? Add some space, here and there if you want some help... It is nothing but pain for both eyes and mind to read you.
Onto related topic, did you manage to get your phone back to a functionnal state ? Note that the boot sequence can take time after a wipe so maybe it's not broken at all.
As for eRecovery, it never helped me to restore my device, tried on two different Wi-Fi networks after two completely unrelated issues.
Concerning warranty, I guess it depends on your country and where you bought your phone. I went to the carrier which provided me mine this morning since I ended up with a strong brick last night and I'll get a new phone in a couple of weeks.

finally a reply! okay so ill edit my post once ive finished replying to you. First off thanks for taking your time to read my post, i am most greatfull. In response to your questions, suggestions i can tell you:
i went to my friends, connected to their broadband and attempted to use eRecovey to update/restore my device. ALAS it did not work! I tried several times and it gets to downloading package from server only to end in a FAIL.. I got home tried connecting to public wifi and doing eRecovery but it just fails. So like you I have never managed to get eRecovery to work.
As for the booting sequence, as i explained before, whether i access stock recovery and wipe cache and wipe phone it does this no problem, reboots, only to get stuck on the honor logo boot animation. The same goes for installing updatte.app with three button method. it says its installed succesfully but does not get past the honor logo boot animation. Unfortunately your suggestion that it might just take a long time to boot is not the case I have left it for hours you see and it never gets to the setup wizard :crying:
As for warranty, i am in uk, bought the phone via amazon, and it was unlocked, so not from a carrier like you. So i guess ill just have to find my nearest huawei service centre and have them look at it.
Does anyone know the procedure as far as doing this. Do i phone them or email my problem and then send my phone to them or what?? Any help is very welcome.
Thanks for your time and patience.
Please, please help...i'm desperate
So sorry for my original long post people, i simply wanted to give as much detail and info as possible because being vague doesnt help anyone. It seems that might have worked against me.
Please, please any suggestions would be appreciated to the N'th degree! I have tried everything i can think of and i am truly desperate now. I dont understand why i cant get it to work...
I can go into stock recovery and wipe the cach and do factory reset and that works fine, no errors.
I can hold the 3 buttons down to install the firmware package(ive got update.app from B130 build) and that works fine, gets to 100% and says 'success' and then reboots, with no errors.
But either way the phone refuses to boot past the honor logo boot animation and ive left it for hours hoping, praying, it will work after the 32nd time...
I can access fastboot but that is useless because my bootloader is not unlocked and i cant get to developer options to enable 'usb debugging' and 'oem unlock'. So i just get error message 'remote: Command Failed' with any command i type.
But thats madness, i cant comprehend why it wont boot because everything seems to work!?!
There has to be a way to get my device functioning again.
I am pulling my hair out, i am at a complete loss, it doesn't make sense. PLEASE ANYONE ..... please help....
Thanks HONOR-able enthusiasts for any help, no matter how small! :good: :fingers-crossed:

??? hi, I.m sorry, i think you must of misread some of my post. I dont blame you, it was bloody long and confusing!
I only mentioned twrp in the very beggining to run you through the steps to my never ending being stuck on honor logo boot animation. I used TWRP to wipe all partitions and format. From there i used 3 button method to install the update.app(B130) on my sd-card. this was succesfull, no errors and rebooted. I didn't expect any problems. But as i explained it never gets past boot logo.
Obviously now, twrp has gone, i am back to stock recovery and my bootloader is locked.
*I can access stock recovery to wipe cache and wipe the phone no problem and all works with no error messages.
*I can access fastboot(bootloader) but the fastboot commands are useless because my bootloader is locked once again and i cant turn on usb debugging or oem unlock in developper options....because my phone wont boot past honor logo...
*Three button method works everytime, 100% success, no errors, reboots but guess what?? IT WONT GET PAST THAT DAMN HONOR BOOT LOGO!!!!!!!!!
Ive tried everything, but NO LUCK. I came up with this idea today though--- download theB130 rollback from nougat to MarshMallow update.zip. Extract the update.app and put that in my sd-card/dload folder and do 3 button install method.
I might even do the same with the nougat B350 just to cover all bases. So i am downloading now, gonna cross my fingers and any other body parts, pray to all the gods...and hopefully i wont be a crying, sniveling, howling piece of mess by tomorrow.
UNLESS OF COURSE SOMEONE HAS THE KNOWLEDGE I SEEK AND IS WILLING TO SHARE IT :fingers-crossed:
thanks Honor-able friends....

OK, sorry for the misunderstanding. Yeah, try that and if this is still not working, I guess all you can do is try the same with other packages.
Hey, was just setting up my mi5 for custom roms. Got the bootloader unlocked, then installed TWRP via fastboot as per the instructions here (https://twrp.me/devices/xiaomimi5.html).
After I got into TWRP I made a quick backup of the image, and then set the phone to reboot. Now its in a bootloop, flashing the mi logo (and bootloader unlock on the bottom). Doesn't turn off, doesn't do anything when plugged into pc, fastboot reboot doesn't do anything.
Any ideas? Didn't think I had done anything wrong (done this kind of thing a couple times before).
Cheers!
EDIT: Hang on, managed to get into fastboot, I guess I should be able to sort things out from there? What should I aim to do. I can also get into recovery. Still won't boot into system anymore though.

Which twrp version are you using?
Did you actually flash any custom rom or do you try to start miui?
Did you change any partition?
Something similar happened to me one time. I solved it by doing the root right after installing the twrp. And magically started my rom.

+1! Thanks :highfive:
Did you solve it? I might have some ideas.
My device is stuck in the initial boot sequence in which the logo will show as if it is booting normally, then it will stay on this screen until it goes completely blank, at which point I have to hold the power button for a long period of time to get it back to the boot sequence. My phone is unlocked and I was trying my first time at flashing a custom recovery and OS, I flashed my device with TWRP and successfully installed it along with a flash of pixel experience, After using pixel experience I wanted to try lineage OS since it wasn't as good as I hoped, so I tried to get into the TWRP and I could not do it at all I tried every method I could search. After an hour of trying different methods of getting to twrp I tried to re-flash the recovery and that is when the phone because unresponsive and does what I have described above. I currently have access to fast boot and I dont want to go ****ing my phone up more than I have. If anyone can give me a step by step guide on how to fix this it would help so much since im new to android and I cant afford another £400 phone.
Thanks

Don't worry, things can be recovered easily. Until you get more knowledgeable and you understand more about flashing use this failsafe to recover from (almost) anything
Go here and get the latest fastboot ROM for your phone.
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/raphael/
For now make sure you get the one that matches the region for your phone.
Then follow this guide to flash it
https://c.mi.com/thread-1857937-1-1.html
Use the fastboot flashing section.
Make sure you change the flash option to 'clean all' when flashing. The default option will lock the bootloader again after flashing. If you do the default option with any ROM that is not the same region as the phone you will hard brick the phone, this is why I recommend getting the ROM that matches your phone.
When unpacking the fastboot ROM, it is a Linux/Unix zipped tarball, most Windows zip software will need to extract it twice. The first time will give you a single .tar file (if it doesn't have an extension then rename it and add .tar to the end) You will then need to extract everything from the tar file, which you give you the folder, containing the ROM data, to point the Mi Flash Tool at.
After doing this you, if you've remembered to change the flash option to 'clean all', then you'll have restored to stock and kept the bootloader unlocked. Now you're good to try again.
Keep a copy of the fastboot ROM on your PC and back everything up on your phone before flashing. Then if you get in a mess you know how to easily recover things.
Once you get more experienced there will be other things you might be able to do, depending on the situation, that allow you to get things working without losing everything and needing to start from scratch.
Thanks

Thank you so much for the details post, I will try what you have said above and will report back with my results. I have one question if you know the answer ( My phone is the UK edition of the Mi 9T pro ) Would I need to download the global or EEA fastboot version.

For safety download the EEA ROM.
I also suggest you immediately flash dm_verity (https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/flashing-orangefox-recovery-mi-9t-pro-t3980579), after you flash twrp, wipe data and then flash that

Everything you said worded flawlessly and your a life saver. If you dont mind do you have a link to a set of guides on how to correctly flash a custom recovery and lineage OS? since when I try to research these guides I get 5 different versions of TWRP and lock my phone out

If you dont mind me asking could you go into slightly more detial on that since I have seen orange fox but I dont understand what dm_verity is.
Please ignore all reply's above as I am going to make another separate post about lineage OS
Thank you for replying and resolving my issue.
Have tried flashing various miui and a few custom roms, all get stuck on animation. Have tried miui fastboot roms first build and latest, pretty much everything I can think of to no avail. Am I missing something? Open to any suggestions to get this phone working again. Fastboot and recovery (custom and stock) all work, flashing works it just won't get past that loading screen.

If flashing a fastboot ROM isn't working, then maybe something physically has gone wrong with the phone. Are you using the clean all or the keep data option, when flashing? Make sure you're using the clean all option (but definitely not the clean and lock option).
Fastboot ROMs are normally the last resort, failsafe way to recover the phone, so it's unusual for them not to work.
Also how long are you waiting at the initial animation screen?
Also try a different, good quality USB lead and/or a different USB port and/or a different PC if you can.

Something more than likely broke hardware wise.
Always clean all, but unfortunately after many hours of trying I misclicked and locked a few hours ago, on the stock rom but which would of been lucky if I wasn't already stuck in bootloop.
Next option, took back panel off and had a look, red water indicator near headphone jack, the rest are still white so many some sort of water damage has happened idk how, everything else is clean and dry.
Next best bet is edl with a authorized mi account (no luck yet) or just ship it off to Xiaomi.
Umm, what did you do before you got this problem?
tbh, most users just skip a step and then nothing works. I'm assuming this is the case?
What is your phone variant? previous ROM? ROM you tried to apply?
what vendor are you using? and most importantly, what steps are you doing to flash the new rom.

Literally nothing, flashed global stable zip a week before with f2fs, and dfe, it was about a week without modifying anything or even entering twrp and it just did a random reboot then just died and started boot looping.
K20 Pro, previous was lineage os, format data to get back to miui, flash miui, f2fs, dfe.
Now since bootloop, and edl, fastboot, recovery all work but with locked bootloader, I guess only option is edl flash.
My mi account must be magic or something, so downloaded mi unlock and bootloader unlocked immediately, no wait time. Was very surprised so to double check did fastboot OEM device-info and indeed bootloader is unlocked. Now flashing fastboot rom fingers crossed.
IT BOOTED, I have my phone backkkkkk. No idea how or what happened, happened but it's back up and running hopefully for good.
Somehow locking and unlocking bootloader fixed it.
