I was running a Oreo Rom for about 3 months and today I decided to wipe using Mr rains twrp 3.0.2 I got to missing Nougant so I flashed RR 7.1.2 installed gapps and then I flashed the 7.9.21 firmware. After the RR splash screen finished doing its thing i was expecting to see the setup screen but instead there was a prompt that I have corrupt data and to factory reset my device, I hit the reset box and it took me to Twrp so I done another factory reset and after the reset I went to were all of my roms were supposed to be only to find out that everything is gone. Now I have no OS installed and I tried to restore a backup and all of those are gone also. When I wiped I did not wipe internal storage. What steps do I need to fix this any help would be very much appreciative.

Hello!
Before I want to go on to CWM I want to tell you what happened before.
Yesterday I flashed TWRP recovery which resulted in a really bad situation. I was stuck in recovery. If I pressed reboot it went straigt to recovery again, even if I pulled out the battery. So flashed the stock firmware via the KDZ flashing method and everything worked again.
Then I rooted again, installed CWM, installed CM, installed all my apps (TB backup on PC was quite old),....
So all in all it was a big amount of work and it took me a few hours.
Then everything was working again as it should and I updated all my TB backups and then I wanted to make a Nandroid backup so that I wouldnt have to do all that flashing and installing again.
So I went to recovery--> backup and restore --> backup
But it didnt finish. It always stopped with this error: Error while meaking a backup image of /system!
So i thought maybe I should install everything again, which i did. (I had already made a TB backup of all my apps, so i thought this woulb be done fast)
Well, went to recovery again, did a factory reset, wiped dalvik cache and even formated /system. Then I installed the latest CM + GAPPS and rebooted.
And the first thing i recognized was that the screen popped where it says "android is upgrading". And I wondered even more when I realized that all my apps where stille there. So obviously the factory reset and also format /system didnt work properly.
If I format /system and dont install any ROM then the device doesnt boot (which i guess is the normal behaviour). But what I want to say is that the format works there but if I flash CM afterwards all my apps are still there (despite the fact that i also did a factory reset).
All in all the phone does work normal now, but I'm not able to make a Nandroid backup and I'm really wondering why.
(I also reflashed CWM recovery but that didnt change anything)
I would be glad if s1 could help me.
PS: Could the solution be to flash stock again via KDZ and then do everything from the beginning?
Never heard of anything like this before.
Did you flash the recovery as a .IMG or through Rom manager (I would suggest to flash it with Rom manager).
Try this and report back (maybe your recovery image is damaged or smth.)
Sent from my LG-P880
I have no idea what caused this crazy behavoiur of CWM, but I started over again with flashing kdz and now everything is fine
Maybe your SD card is full. Try deleting a few files from your SD and then do the backup.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda premium
I dont have any external sd card and on phone memory there were more than 10GB free space
So I've got an HTC One on T-Mo. The CM10.1 nightly build (8/1) I had installed worked fine for a while.
Yesterday, it rebooted on its own a few times, and each time, everything I'd done since around 7 AM decided to undo itself. Texts I received went missing, apps un-updated, files on internal storage erased themselves. Every time I reboot the phone, it undoes whatever I've done. Rebooting into recovery deletes whatever zip I meant to flash!
So I already had one of the GE ROMs on internal storage. Thought I'd try flashing that. So I went into CWM, formatted /system and /data, flashed the GE ROM, wiped Dalvik, the whole deal. When I rebooted, I was once again greeted with CM10.1 the way I'd left it yesterday morning.
Restoring from a backup doesn't work either.
Tried to flash TWRP over CWM through ADB, rebooted recovery, and it's still CWM.
I'm at a loss. I can't wipe or flash or put files on my phone. Any ideas?

Download your device's stock firmware and flash it using Odin.
Read this or this.
You wiped cache?
Sent from my phone. Why would you need to know what device I have?
So I was running a custom rom for months now for my N910T without issue but yesterday the phone suddenly rebooted by itself while I was using it and would keep rebooting roughly every 3min.
I backed up everything in TWRP and wiped everything to reboot into a clean rom like factory reset but that didn't work as everything was still there and nothing was wiped. So I tried to flash a new rom but it failed and gave an error E: cannot execute upgrade binary.
I'm on TWRP 2.8.1.1 so I can't flash a TWRP update (have to be on 2.8.4 or above) and thought my recovery was too old. I then plugged phone in download mode and used ODIN to flash a new TWRP. It would write fail every time, no matter what I changed. I tried to install different versions of recovery and used different versions of ODIN with no success.
I also changed different cables and ports. I then tried to flash a stock rom through ODIN but it also says write fail. Basically I tried everything and searched on XDA and google and tried every method I came across. Anyone have this issue or suggestions?
tldr: Phone N910T reboots from home screen, write fail flash from ODIN and fail flash from TWRP recovery. Can't use phone because it would boot to home screen for a few min then just reboot again. Help!

Yes I tried every wipe option possible. Wipe system, boots right into rom. Wipe internal, everything still there. Wipe data, factory reset, everything still there.

Then something I'm your phones been corrupted probably, your going to have to rma for a new device
has anybody come up with a solution to this problem im having serious boot and loading issues. i have flashed many roms and have never had a problem. i odin flashed the cog2 firmware then twrp flashed the tekxodus rom. something happened changing permissions with the built in setting with the rom and twrp was lost and i cant get back to a usable phone. odin flashed everything i can find for my phone and its not working everything either falis or goes to loop.
You probably corrupted your partition doing something wrong
Update for the readers wh don't want to read the rest of the thread:
I solved 2 issues ("com.android.phone has stopped" was gone after wiping system, and the updating now works smoothly after i realized that the latest firmware is 4.0.3 and not 4.0.2)
The remaining problem is:
But i still get the welcome screen (like i wiped the data) everytime i reboot from twrp
It is not a ROM issue, because during the process i switched from OctOS to lineage and i still get the problem... what can that be???
quick info: TWRP is the most recent (3.0.3-1), firmware is the newest (4.0.3), Lineage is the nightly from Feb 14.
Original post:
Hello there fellow Oneplus users,
I've got some trouble with my 3T. I changed the OS to OctN some weeks ago. Everything was fine, i din't update the first 2 weeklys and when i wanted to update a few days ago (to OCT-N-WEEKLY-20170210-2251-oneplus3.zip) i tried but there was error 7... i don't remember exactly what i did then but when i booted i got the message "com.android.phone has stopped" and i couldn't get the message away (it appeared directly again after clicking ok) in the background the phone wanted to make a fresh setup. i tried a few things out, and the only thing that worked was wiping the cache, dalvik and data and then installing the rom, that was installed before (OCT-N-WEEKLY-20170121-0348-oneplus3.zip)
the next day i thought i could try it again (i hoped it was just coincidence), but make a backup via twrp before. but then same error... So i wanted to restore the backup. It went without errors in twrp, but the booting afterwards took about 15 minutes! After the boot: again the error message and in the background the "set up new phone" screen... even though i did a restore... so again wipe cache/dalvik/data via twrp and re install the old version of the OctOS
Next day after research: maybe i needed to update the firmware (4.0.2). downloaded it but i thought i would wait a little, because i don't have that much time to deal with those problem right now.
So today i decided to give it a try, rebooted to twrp, but then i thougt: "nah, i'll do it another day". So i really did NOTHING in TWRP -> reboot to system -> same old Error (com.android.phone has stopped) and data lost (new phone setup)
Ok: reboot to twrp, flashed the new firmware (no error) tried to flash the new OctOS -> error 7...
I also have the latest LineageOS rom (lineage-14.1-20170214-nightly-oneplus3-signed.zip) on the phone to try out: wiped Cache/Dalvik/Data install Lineage: same error 7...
same with the old OctOS: everything's fine...
Longstory short: what ever i do in twrp doesn't work expect a wiping and reinstalling the same OctOS that worked the last 3 or 4 weeks...
What am i missing? Or is there really something wrong with my phone?
Try to flash the new TWRP, firmware.
and flash the rom with full wipe

TWRP is the newest, and (as already mentioned in the text) firmware was renewed during the process without any success.
What do you mean by full wipe? More than Cache, Dalvik and Data?
But still, i have the feeling, that this error is something not very common... I think i might return to complete stock, if the problems continue.
So,
i solved 2 issues ("com.android.phone has stopped" was gone after wiping system, and the updating now works smoothly after i realized that the latest firmware is 4.0.3 and not 4.0.2)
But is Still get the Welcome Screen (like i wiped the data) everytime i reboot from twrp

It's a TWRP and f2fs problem. You either need to change your data partition to EXT4 and/or update your TWRP to 3.0.4-1

Thanks I'll try that out.
Might it help, if i don't set a password for the phone? Or is it not encryption related?

It's filesystem driver related and nothing to do with the encryption.
