Huawei P9 EE UK Official Rom? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

hi guys,
my phone has developed the screen brightness fault when its turned up fully. so my question is... where can i get the official EE UK(carrier) rom so i can downgrade to marshmallow in order for me to send back my phone without the warranty being invalid. I dont want to send them my phone only to be told its invalid because i updated to the official rom via xda website or some excuse saying i will be charged X amount of money for time being wasted. I do hope that oreo comes out soon but when i upgraded to nougat on this phone it was a pain in the ar$e :/

Should i just wait for OTAs or is there a way to update to Nougat someway. I searched the entire forum but not much info i could find. Thanks in advance!

Need help with HTC desire 10 Pro official ROM

Hello guys..
Here is the situation.
I bought one month ago a HTC desire 10 Pro from Hongkong on an online store. The phone came with a multilanguage Rom of Android 6.0 pre installed after I set it up and connected to the internet I got the software update to the version 2.13. 709.23 and that's it. I read some articles online that desire 10 Pro should get the android update to Android nougat which I didn't get so far.. So I did some digging and found that the multi-language Rom installed by the seller doesn't support Ota updates. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Do now I need the official Rom and how do I flash it into the phone so that I'll be able to get the update over the air.
Thank you
Hi !!
I got the same problem, I need the nougat update but my HTC Desire 10 Pro wont get it because my country is Sri Lanka.
I thought flashing an official rom from Europe or US might work but I did some digging and found that every HTC device has a country specific code called CID (specific to where it was sold and not the country it's in now) and that even if we change the rom we cant still get OTA without changing the CID.
The only way to change CID is to S-OFF and even if we do that, bootloader will be modified so OTA might or might not work.
So the only option is to ask for a TWRP backup from somebody who got the update and make a rom.
I can do that but I cant find a Nougat TWRP backup for our device.
If you can find one, please share so that everybody can get a Nougat ROM for our device ?
well i contacted the HTC official channels,, they scanned the serial number of my Phone in their system and they said that my phone has a taiwanese IMEI .. so i will get Nougat when people in Taiwan get neverthless I live in Europe . and they said there is no way in hell you could flash the official factory rom into the phone ..
it sucks as well ..
I will share if I find anything .
Hello guys, I need the Nougat ROM for my HTC Desire 10 pro since i cant get it OTA yet. And possibly a step by step explanation on how to install it. Thanks in advance

Try a factory reset.
Be careful, it will erase all personal data, so backup first!

Hi there, [ i speak just a little bit english so sorry if i write some srong xdd ] did you found someone with that "backup" to share Android 8 to all users with HTC Desire 10 PRO? i recently buy this phone but, has you, i read about the posibility to update to Android 8, i searched so mucho but it is nothing that helps to update...
Now im really shure that the only way to update is actually your idea. So i see that no one reply since 2017, and i have the hope to read that someone finally find a way to update to Oreo.
I really hope so, but if not, we just have to live only with Marshmallow 6.0

Huawei Mate 20 Pro Australian Discussion

I thought I'll make this thread for the Australian Mate 20 Pro Owners.
As we may all know already, Optus and other ozzy telcos are extremely slow with releasing there updates for our devices, it's very frustrating as we have to wait for important updates and fixes.
In this thread I'll love to hear from other Australians and there opinions on this matter. Also to discuss firmwares that have been flashed from other regions on our devices etc
All topics about our devices are all welcome
I have the L29. Currently with Telstra (Prepaid)
My last OTA update was 168 which I received around the end of December.
I recently unlocked my bootloader and updated to 182 following a guide in these forums
I also rooted my device using the same guide.
I don't really have too much to say on the speed of our updates, as I've only had my Mate 20 Pro since the 28th of Dec. It's my first android phone and I'm loving it so far. I've been wanting to get away from Apple for years, but the jailbreaking scene kept me with them. Now that the scene is almost dead I decided it was time.
So now I'm getting my head around rooting.
LYA-L29 here.. C636 SPCSEAS region on mine.
Have done the fh 171 update.. Now on unlocked bootloader and rooted 182. Tried the custom 182 rom but no joy with magisk in hiding safety net stuff for Google pay.. However with the stock 182 I was able to hide the safety net checks with magisk help.
What might be of interest to people to is I've been able to downgrade back to 171 and relock bootloader which previously was said could not happen. Back on 182 though now.
Currently running an L29 bought from eBay AU but originated in the UK as far as I can tell (based on the charger mains plug)
Latest version It'll update to is .168, it started off at .109 and has done 2 updates in the 2 days I have had it.
I've ordered a BL code and will look at rooting once I have it, there seem to be 2 different guides in this forum at the moment. Still working out which way to go. One of the methods definitely involves rebooting into recovery every time in order to get root, not sure if the other method does as well.
I find the 182 firmware to be a great one, I have noticed more of a battery drain on this one but nothing to really worry about.
I find it awesome that the hwota method works and we are now able to flash the same or higher firmwares with pretty much ease now. To be honest everytime I fiddled with my phone before the hwota method came out I would stuff something up then use funky Huawei to bring it back to life lol that was beginning to be an expensive venture haha.
This device shows alot of promise, I am currently using magisk and have used modules to pass safety net. Also used titanium backup to remove some system apps I never use. I froze Huawei home and now use nova launcher and used the Google framework module to install the Google phone and contacts app which I find much better. I am happy to say I now have the device exactly where I want it to be. I have also added a 64gb Huawei nano memory card to my device, as it may be expensive I thought why not. Now all my photos get saved to memory card

The patched_boot.img method is what I'm using basically when the phone reboots it automatically boots up the patched_boot and goes straight into the os, you don't even notice it which is great

Basically grab the recovery_ramdisk IMG and use that in magisk to get a patched_boot.img that would be the best way but in the guide it's got all the info you need there.

LYA-L09 from Optus here still on .122, with .146 due end of this month. Optus update schedule is a joke. As soon as FH .182 is safety net approved, I'm doing it. Don't really want to pay the $70 to unlock bootloader but will likely do that too eventually.
Yes Optus is a joke. Hopefully they start working on .171 which is supposed to have a unlock bootloader although I am sure optus will modify it to stay locked.
Sent from my HUAWEI LYA-L09 using XDA Labs
Optus are still stuffing everyone around with not yet releasing an almost 2 months old firmware. All they can do is give you a recorded message.
They certainly are the most pathetic telecommunications company.
Sent from my HUAWEI LYA-L09 using XDA Labs
It seems to have come to light that optus won't be supplying firmware updates, 2 reasons were mentioned today
1 is that huawei have not issued a software licence and will not provide optus with firmware.
2 is that optus have abandoned huawei firmware updates because of the huawei 5G and US ban with regards to spying.
All the times optus have mentioned testing firmware for the mate 20 Pro has been lies, it now is apparent that they were never testing anything.
This matter via being addressed by me in writing to both Huawei and optus, if they fail to respond or provide a firmware update solution. Consumer Affairs Victoria will be filing a complaint against them con VCAT Court.

Is your phone Optus branded specifically? Could you go and buy a Telstra prepaid SIM, chuck that in, and update the phone?

They are not testing .183 they are supposed to be working on .188 but at this point optus don't have a software licence from Huawei, and huawei are refusing to release the firmware until they get a licence approved.
This could be months or not even happen at all
They also have never been testing any firmware because huawei have never released any to them for testing as to date.
Here is the message I received from Optus last week.
Hey Darren,
This is what I recieved internally from our Tech devs,
For Australian carriers, Huawei will release MR every 2 months. They do not know the release details until about 1 month before the release. They have skipped .146 and .183 because they did not meet Optus requirements. We are going to get .188 for testing which is the later version than .183. The only way for the customer to get .183 is to buy an open market handset.
So we're all still on .122 ?
I want to say "un ****ing believable" but it's really not.
It's simply not good enough

How to update Huawei Mate 20 With Locked Bootloader

Hello guys,
I saw on the forum of the M20P that there's a tool used to update the device using a locked BL.
I wanted to know if anyone of you tried this, and if yes, can you tell us the result
I really don't know if this method could actually works on our device...
There's the thread link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/how-to/manual-upgrading-mate-20-pro-bl-locked-t3905924
Thks guys for your help with the community :fingers-crossed:
I'll answer to myself,
I tested the method just above, and yes I managed to update my M20 to 9.0.0.237
I followed this tutorial video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp4k3uFDxf4 , and i used the tool listed on the thread I linked in OP.
There's a screenshot of my phone showing the version and the security patch I have now.
For the next updates, you have the choice guys, you can use Firmware Finder app on the playstore or use this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20/how-to/guide-manual-updating-firmware-t3892686.
BTW, thx to @OldDroid and @mikeos for their amazing job
I have HMA-L09 (single SIM) C432E10R1P16
Vodafone brand on the box, but software is unbranded, no vodafone crap stuff nor bootlogo, infact is C432
Just after turning on after hard reset I saw something branded, but 100% uninstallable
So, should I upgrade with this method, I'll definitely get rid of brand? and will I lose my data?
Of course I have locked BL, I used to have rooted phone since my first Android 2.1, so sad

PEAMIHG ROM - what is it?

Hi,
I recently bought a Mi 8, 64 GB from a local retailer.
When MIUI 11 came out, I started looking for ways to install it - when I came to a thread suggesting to download an official global ROM, Iv'e done it.
But, I ended up with seeing an error message suggests that I can't install it since it's not compatible with the 'vendor'.
Pocking and digging around the web didn't produce any useful information..
Can I get your help with figuring out what's the origin of it?
I'd like to take it to the retailer - but I need more information that will come handy when I'm filling my complain.
Cheers,
-M

Isn't that an H3G phone? I think you got a phone branded H3G or whatever it's called in your country, that's why you got the vendor message error, I guess..
Don't ask me how to fix it or further details because I can't help you more than this, but if you want to, unlock the bootloader and flash the global rom. Be aware of what you're doing if you want to take it back to the retailer.

I don't think so.. I mean, I'm not saying you did buy it, but the retailer may have sold you one of those..
Look at the name of the ROM, P stands for Android version, EA stands for dipper, MI is the region of the ROM and then..... HG, why not XM? I don't know what XM means, but I think that HG stands for H3G. You can also find ROMs ending with VF, why? Vodafone..
I woyld suggest you to try to authenticate it .

You need to open the phone and follow the instructions to setup your Mi Cloud account, setup Google and use the phone. The Miui 11 update will show up via the updater. At the time the most current global stable build remains on Android 9.
After using the phone for 360 Hours or two weeks, you can unlock the bootloader. From there install whatever you want.
Personally, I recommend the custom Xiaomi.EU rom which is also Miui 11 but based on the Android 10 Chinese beta. But of course all Chinese is removed and Google services are installed. I feel that this is best version of Miui yet.
Edit: I had never heard of the exact that you are using in HG. For this device have a specialized carrier version of Miui?
If so you will need to check with the carrier to if it is possible to unlock the bootloader. I have heard of similar cases with people who own the MiMix3 5G phones.
Thanks for all the answers.

Salut. I did try it out. it ended up stating it's official international version.

I'd like to avoid unlocking the bootloader at the moment. I need this device to connect to a corporate account, which, requires to have the bootloader closed and unchanged.
I was talking with the reseller and he knew nothing about this H3S. We agreed to look for information together.. let's see what's going to be the end of this story.

I recently found out about these ROMs, it's just that you have to wait for the manufacturer to push the update. Also, check this link to Mi Community, it's in Spanish but look for the code name of your ROM and will help you to better understand the whole thing (and where your phone comes from.. ).
aittamattia,
I'm still not getting it - what is that ROM? who is the maintainer?

FYI : You posted this question under the Rom's, kernels and Recoveries section. A moderator will surely delete this thread when they find out about it.
Your rom is a carrier rom, you will get the update when the carrier add their own bloatware and releases to you.
Thanks for all the information.
I hope a moderator will move it to Q&A as I want to take it to the reseller to negotiate my options.
Hey,
You have a carrier specific phone. Did you buy it from Three UK?
I bought mine from there exactly one year ago. It came with MIUI 9 and running that "HG" ROM. I had to unlock the bootloader, flash the original global version and lock the bootloader afterwards.
If you don't flash the global version issued by Xiaomi, you will only be able to update to MIUI 11 when Three issue the update. Three is managing the software updates.
Don't waste your time with their customer services, they have no idea what is the software version. If you have the option to get your money back, buy it direct from Xiaomi UK or Europe.
My phone is working fine since then, I'm able to update it via OTA normally.
Please have a look on this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/help/xiaomi-mi8-3-uk-network-t3886669/
There are some topics on the Mi Community as well. I had a discussion with some people that had the same issue.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the time spent to share information about this ROM.
At the meantime, I'm trying to negotiate nicely with the reseller. It seems like he is looking for information about it as well.
Do you know if H3S got some official customer support system which I can get more inputs on it?
As for the process you've done:
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Flashed global rom
3. Relocked bootloader
After this process you were able to get OTA updates?

Hi, that's good.
I spoke to their customer services at that time, but had no luck. No one could provide any precise information about the upgrade. Maybe they are able to provide more information now.
So I decided to flash the global version by myself.
Yes, I'm getting OTA updates normally. The official global version is PEAMIXM. I'm on 11.0.6 now.
Cheers
Well,
I'm in a process of probably replacing it to the official version with actually returning the device and getting other.
if it won't work with the reseller, I'll flash a new global rom and that's it.
P.S. - I saw that there are tools that can do it without unlocking the boot loader, like using EDL. did you tired that?
Thanks

Hey!
I didn't try using EDL, maybe it's an alternative. I had to wait 360 hours to get to unlock the bootloader, then the process of flashing and relock bootloader took 15min.
There are other options of ROMs out there, but I wanted to keep it as much as original as possible.
