Hello fellow members. I`ve stumbled upon a trouble with my Redmi 4X. I'd like to ask you if someone had similar problems with his Xiaomi. But first thing first...
I`ve dropped my phone few days ago. Guess what - broken screen :crying:. I did some research and decided to repair it on my own. I ordered orginial replacement kit (LCD + digitizer), watched few videos "how to" and I made it. But.
It seems that now I have some problems with network. Signal strength varies between full and the lowest (on 4G), but it feels like it's always the lowest. The internet is so slow, calling and sending messages is pure luck. Sometimes you can send or call, sometimes it's like out of range. I`ve tried setting "only 3g" setting, but it doesn't help. Factory reset didn't help aswell.
Additionally, the phone is overheating. I think it may be associated with the network problem, since phone can't find himself in range of mobile operator.
I called mobile operator and they didn't do anything, everything seems to be as before.
The phone is updated to the most recent OS (Global). I don`t have any necessary or strange apps, nor root or custom rom.
Before the change of LCD everything was running smoothly.
So, did any of you guys had some similar troubles with his/hers xiaomi? Could I broke something during the replacement? I think not, I was extremely careful, assembled everything as it should be but still..
Hope you guys could figure something out, since I`m really out of my mind what is wrong now.
Thanks!

Hi, the poor reception and overheating symptoms are typical of bad antenna or its connection, which were probably damaged during the impact. Without an antenna, RF transmitter has nowhere to dissipate its energy, hence internal overheating.
Please examine the PCB-antenna pairs of contacts on both sides of the connection. Good luck...
:highfive:
Try switching between preferred network 4G/3G/2G and see if you face the same issue.
you can also try using different network carrier sim into your device and your sim cars in other device and see if this issue persist
if issue persist try reconnecting antenna cable.

Hi!
i am new here, and i do have a problem.
I have my HTC Diamond since 2 weeks, and it is blocking (freezing) once per day: the device is on standby, i try to turn it on, but nothing happens, always a black screen, not even the restart button works; the only solution is to remove and put back the battery.
the issue is that if someone calls me during this "freeze", he gets that my phone is ringing; but i get nothing; and not even a missed call after i succeed to turn it on.
- ROM version: 1.93.479.3 WWE
i highly appreciate if somone can help me with this problem.
thanks,
Tony
I've had this exact problem, but the reset button on the back does work when this happens. I'm in the US on T-Mobile in NYC using a European Diamond. I work in a building that has very weak T-Mobile coverage and I've found that I only get the problem when I am at work. On the weekends and at night, the problem never happens because I am usually in an area that has either no coverage or good coverage. I have not eliminated the problem, but I have discovered that setting the network type to "GSM" and the band to "UMTS(850+1900)GSM(850+1900)" reduces the incidence of the problem for me to once every few days. I'd love to hear a good solution to the problem as well.
sounds like a problem with the Radio, it could be that the weak signal is causing the phone problems.
Try flashing a newer Radio version, and make sure all the settings (as Drachen said) are correct.
If you arent happy with Flashing a Radio, then send it back and get a repacement (chances are it will have newer firmware)
I have the exact same issue as you have. I had basically tried all sorts of ROMS, be it stock or cooked. It seems that since the upgrade to all v1.93 roms, this problem became more frequent.
Check this link here. I posted some screenshots of my problems there.
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=102551
I've tried Vic's rom, Swift's roms, stock 1.93 rom with stock spl etc.. all with no success. it would be stable for the first 1-2 days after flashing, but immediately after that, it will happen like twice a day.
Like your case, I'm having this "whitenoise" screen (instead of a blank screen, which i used to have at times also) and I tried calling myself from my land line. I can hear the ringing but my phone does not respond.
So since then, here's my suggestion.
DISABLE your TouchFlo3D. Use default Today screen or SPB Mobile Shell. Thats what I did and I haven encountered a single issue since then for 2 days straight. Try it for a day or two to see.
Base on my analysis, our Diamonds has a defect on the 3D gpu chip. Cos corruption only occurs on programs using the HTC 3D driver (e.g. the OpenGLES api from Koush) while normal 2D functions is perfect.
I am waiting for the next ROM update to see if it fixes the issue before I send in my set for repair before my warranty ends, but I feel its gonna be hard to replicate the issue to the service engineer.
I'm going to wait until the end of the week to declare that the problem has been solved, but I'm having a LOT of luck with the latest radio ROM (v1.00.25.BS14) since it was posted on Fri morning (for me), and have had no freezing problems through the end of Tues. Tony1313, try upgrading to the latest radio ROM on the radio ROM thread in the development forum for a while and see if it helps you. Another set of eyes on the problem would be good.
knave, I don't think the cause of the problem for you is the same as it is for me. I haven't gotten any graphical glitches yet on my Diamond and I've only seen the snow screen you're talking about once when charging overnight (in the 3 months I've had the Diamond). As I mentioned, the crashes only happen in one location (my office) and never happen after-hours, weekends or on vacation. The two things I did to reduce the frequency of problems (that helped) were to change Exchange Activesync from "Automatic" to "Manual" during work hours and to set the bands in the control panel as above. All that makes me believe my problem is radio/reception related.

Hi Drachen I did a similar thing to you except I set it too GSM + AUTO it solved my SOD problems completely. Here is my story.
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
i have freezes many times each day, even if im using it with no sim card. i don't even know what to do.
i have a stock rom.
I bet you got the 1.93 ROM and not 2.03, go update to it!
My problem is:
when a turn it on, it just show htc background and that's all
who faced with this problem?
Hi all.
I've dropped my phone quite a few times and it's affected my signal.
The reception on the phone is very weak and drops in certain places where it use to have good signal before. Also sometimes people tell me I sound like a robot over the phone so it's got to be an internal damage.
Iv already changed the speaker/microphone part of the phone but the problem continues, my next geuss is the wifi signal antenna cable.
Any ideas of what may be the may cause?

have you tried some different rom and modem.? if not than try something different. i also faced such issue but after changing rom and specially modem, now me trouble free
assuming he didn't flashed any roms between drops....i think it's antenna related...that antenna is small and looks quite fragile...it's a hardware problem...i suggest going to your local repair shop...

I think it's definitely an internal issue. Signal drops all the way at certain locations when it never use to and some people say I have a robots voice so I have to call them back. Does anyone have any pictures of where the antenna is located in the phone?

Having the same problem here. Dunno exactly when it started but I'm getting lower signal everywhere than I used to get, indoors am having trouble getting any signal at all when it used to be fine.
Tried multiple different ROMs/Radios and a new Sim Card and it's not solved the problem
Also thinking I've just dropped it too many times.

it means is a hardware problem...
the antenae itself its basicly a wire with a connector(atleast the phone one), after the drops, the connection maybe got loose. open the phone up(you lost warranty anyways)and disconnect/ re connect the antenae. if dont work, then repair shop.
Hello guys,
For the past year or so I am having intermittent problems with my 3g connection. It just loses the connection with the mobile internet without any error messages and the only way to fix this is rebooting the phone. At first it happened every couple months but the intervals between connection losses seems to get shorter. The last few months it was every 10-14 days, now it's every 5 days. Since a reboot seems to fix this I don't think there is a physical defect on my 3g chip but the shortening intervals are somewhat worrying. I checked my APN settings multiple times and I've called my carrier's tech support several times but they too can't seem to find anything wrong with my APN settings. I'm currently using a custom ROM (OmniROM based on Android 4.4.4 with the Stagefright patch included) but this problem existed even in the original ROM so I doubt it's a kernel/driver issue. Is there anyone knowledgeable enough to pinpoint the problem or at least help me in the right direction because it's becoming a bit annoying and I dislike not being able to figure out WHY something happens. ^^"
The issue you have mentioned applied also to my phone, but it appeared for the first time after installing Omni from golden-guy. I haven't observed it on my stock rom. At the very beginning, I was able to mitigate the issue by turning airplane mode on and off. As you mentioned, the issue's frequency was increasing over time, leading to more than one signal lost per day. Airplane mode solution stopped working. I have also tried to kill (and got restarted) rild, as well as radiod - with no luck. Logs (I haven't checked kmesg) revealed nothing. I'm not sure the details of your issue, but I was loosing the whole GSM/WCDMA signal, not only the Internet access. Meanwhile, the system seemd to be looking for a network, draining my battery.
I still hope that the solution was to replace my SIM card with a new one from the operator. After that, about a month ago, the issue happened only once, and airplane mode on and off solved it. It's worth to notice, that turning airplane mode on took quite long time, about 30 seconds.
I'm having GT-I8190, Omni version 4.4.4-20151108, baseband I8190XXAMG (I'm not sure if it is distributed along with the rom, or maybe resides on different partition, and is not updated with the omni rom releases).

Did you check logcat? If you didn't then logcat might show what the problem is. And your problem sounds more severe than mine. I only lose 3g but I can still call and send text messages. A problem with the simcard might be possible but it could also be a physical problem with the simcard slot though I can't say why rebooting or turning airplane mode off and back on would fix that.

I just wanted to confirm that I have similllar issue with 3g data connection. S3 mini with I8190XXAMG4 baseband. Stock ROM used for last few years (without any significant issues with 3g data connections), upgraded to latest CM11 20151017 from maclaw/novafusion. I noticed that there are some glitches with 3g data connections. Sometimes I need to tap few times before connection finally is being established. Funny thing is that I have second s3 mini with the same CM11 20151017 and all is OK.
I tried a lot of another ROMs; fifferent version of CM11, OmniROM (4.4.4 and 5.1.1), CM12.1 - problem remains - issues with 3g data connection. Is there any solution to get rid of this 3g data issue?

Yes, logcat (main, radio, events) revealed nothing but just signal drop to 0%. At that time, I didn't know about kmsg and system logcat buffer, so I haven't checked them.

Just tried this, and it helped. Usually, when something is not working, people try to turn it off and on again.
I always had rare glitches with mobile data connectivity, and turning mobile data off and on again always solved the problem. I think our problems my be hardware related. I suppose my old SIM card could have buggy software, i.e. advertising to support some newer protocol, but actually didn't. After upgrading, the phone tried to use the new advertised protocol, and got confused, or made the SIM confused.
I also know about cases, when SIM card simply died without any reason.
I used Note 2 about two years, flashed different roms and never had troubles, but then my friend used it about 3 months on 5.0.2 custom and got troubles with gsm/wcdma. My next samsung phone become our beloved i8190. Flashed it from stock to 5.0.2 CM, than 5.1.1, after month got first Cellular bugs. Tried another LP and some KK roms, my troubles with baseband became more and more frequently every day, flashed different modems, changed much settings in system.. So I was desided that it's all HW problems, and hated Samsung for such failure. But one day just tried to install Project Noble, and all this troubles gone forever. So it's just drivers, which not optimised for new Android versions. 4.1.2 mixed with old TouchWiz after fresh and clean Lollypop feels horrible, but we can do nothing with it.

But if it's hardware related, wouldn't you think that rebooting our phone or turning airplane mode on and off wouldn't fix it? And did you see in the logcat log if something happened before the signal drop? Sometimes events prior to the signal drop can also tell something about the cause.

Hardware could also have its state, which may get corrupted and reset on reboot.

Hi Guys
I got a Problem on my Huawei P30 Pro. Dataconnetions are slow as hell. I dont know why. My Provider says on his site is all good. So i thought i might ask here if someone is facing the same problem .When i mean slow i speak about around 10kb/s. Streaming is not possible. Spotify? More or less but mostly less then more.
I dont knowe what to do so i'm happy for any advice someone might can give
I had full internet speed and suddenly stop working at all. 4g+ shown but nothing seems to work. I changed sim card to sim 2 socket and start working again. Today happens the same again. I change socket a couple of times and now is working again in socket 1. Provider said everything is ok by their side. I have 10.1. I never had problem on 10.0.195. i don t know if this is software or hardware issue.
I am on 10.1.0.171
I have the same internet speed problem both with 4g and Wi-Fi
Hi,
LG V40 isn't connecting to strong Cell or WiFi signals without a Re-Start ... why?
This has never been a problem before. It's always shown a strong Cell Signal at my house and I've fantastic WiFi speeds at the house too. However, occasionally I"ll notice the phone is slow to load a Website or takes too long to send a large file in a Text, I'll look at the Signal Strength and it shows low Cell Signal and low WiFi Signal, yet I know (and test) them both from another phone and they're as strong as possible.
What is the issue and how can I fix this problem?
Thank you all in advance.
Regards,
Gregory
Almost a week later and not one reply post ! ? !
Guess the heat for LG has faded ... not only for the brand, but for this phone, yet, this phone is still (somewhat) fast, takes all updates and is a good camera.
Well ... I still hope for an answer. I've done a complete Factory Reset without loading ANY apps at all for 3 days and it STILL has this issue.
(... Side Note: It's absolutely AMAZING how long the battery lasts when all the bloatware and junk apps are removed, all non-needed-undeleteable-apps are disabled and there's not one Third Party App ! ! )
I read on another thread it's only happened since 5G started getting activated on towers. I don't understand how one would affect the other, but maybe someone can chime in and clear the air on that.
If I don't get an answer soon, I'll have to check other phones to see if others are having this issue and upgrade to a newer phone.
Hope to hear from someone soon.

I don't have the exact same issue as you, but I have an issue where my data connection doesn't connect when my WiFi is off. So I need to turn on my WiFi before I turn on my data, then only turn off my WiFi. I didn't know this before, and I had to resort to turning on airplane mode, whenever I needed to use my data.
I sent my previous device in for warrany repairs, so my device has a new mainboard, and the issue was on both devices. It has to be a software issue on my variant (LG-V405EB), because I haven't seen any other complaints about it online.

Thanks for the reply Miz Pimp.
The phone was checked out and came back working 100% efficient - but they did say that clearing the phone with a Re-Start will help with connectivity.
I hate that as an answer - but it's something that a Samsung user said they've got to do too.
Feeling less alone regarding this problem, but I'm going to upgrade to a 5G phone early next year when that coverage is expected to get to my area.

That really is a horrible reply. It sucks that we need to do that to get a proper connection. I never had this issue with ANY of my mid-range Huawei devices, so it's pretty annoying that I'd have issues on a flagship.
The System Update 13 from Verizon just installed.
Still the same issue with connectivity damn it! !
I literally shut the phone off and restart to get better reception for several hours .... then the reception will drop to one or two bars, calls have drop-outs and upload/download speeds drop. A Re-Start and it all goes back to full bars and high connectivity speeds.
This does not happen to friends with Pixel's, Sammy's or iPhones.
Looks like the LG has some sort of malfunction ... OR ... it's a program to keep battery life exceptionally long, which it clearly does over my other friends phones who maintain high connectivity rates, yet significantly lower battery life.
