Hey everyone,
Been doing some Googling and can't find the answer unfortunately!
I've recently picked up a Note 8 that is on Oreo and paired it with a Clear View case.
I've noticed that when using Youtube and I close the Clear View case it minimizes to a layout like the music player (with the title of what I am watching and play controls, etc), but after around 10 seconds or so it switches off and goes to sleep.
Does anyone know if there's a way to stop the phone going to sleep and for Youtube to keep playing? As it'd be great for me as I listen to Youtube videos a lot at work
Thanks!

same here, the "problem" is the app, you need to be on youtube red in order to keep playing videos/music with the screen off.
Try it for free the first 30 days.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-youtube-vanced-edition-t3758757
Or go there instead, no ads and background playback for free. Post 3 has the downloads.
Thanks for the answers! I am actually interested in Youtube red since I watch a lot of Youtube and I usually run adblock... But I'm in the UK and it's STILL not out there -_-;;
Installed the enhanced youtube app and it's been perfect! Thanks, JHFreeze!

Hey guys, If I'm in the wrong area, I apologize.
I was wondering if there was a better youtube app for the HTC Fuze. The native youtube app, and the google youtube app are nice, but they do not play the full range of videos available on youtube, (ex. try looking up the music videos for "What you got" by Colby O'donis, or "Dangerous" by Kardinal Offishall, forgive my taste in music). You will not be able to find the music videos for these songs like you would on a desktop computer.
I've tried Coreplayer, and WVD player, but they either take a really long time searching or there is great difficulty finding videos.
I know this sounds funny but I'm quite surprised that there is difficulty for flash videos on winmo. I have a psp, and the youtube app is amazing (you also have the ability to go to other video hosting websites). Is there a youtube app that is equivalent to a desktop computer or the psp?
Thank you for your time.
ive been a bit dissapionted also in the phone because i tell everyone how much better the touch pro is than the iphone and then it cant do high quality youtube videos. please someone prove me wrong
if you go to the settings icon at the top and hit high quality instead of fast speed they look pretty damn good....
Yeah but if you're running a stock ROM the video skips because it can't process or keep the video and audio in sync..don't know what causes the problem. Not sure if that happens on cooked ROMs though
Have you tried coreplayer 1.3.2 youtube section after pressing views. It has settings out the a**! Hi,Lo,3g,FLV,H264 720p. Beautiful!! Try that if you havent!
But coreplayer is a commercial app, it is not free
btw I tried this software but was unable to make it work for youtube, it never finds anything...

Coreplayer works great...mine finds and plays youtube all day long. Commercial it is but its worth it....
dont know what the problem is but i can find the songs you name just fine. for both songs i get a dozen results. aswel through 3G as wifi. altough i cant select the high quality or fast download option cause there is no option menu anymore in my version of the youtube app (dont know wich version btw) but it was already in my rom
Just downloaded and tried '3' Music Player and it's very very good... Definately worth checking out...
Search for RockOn in the market and it's the app with a small "3"
Yeah I tried it. its pretty cool just needs alittle bit more tuning.
It stops playing for me when the screen turns off. Anyone else having this issue?
Looks sick, and hella smooth though

Not having that problem myself!
From what I've read theres a lot more to come from the dev on this one...
Yep! ³ has definitely replaced my default music app. I can't wait to see what he adds to it next.
Whoa! Crazy concept that one is.
Would be great if you had the option to have song/album/artist lists instead of JUST an album cube...
Best music app for Android I've seen.
One annoying feature, if you enable the headphone controls, it starts the player whenever you push the button (i.e. skipping a song in Pandora launches RockOn3 and they play simultaneously). Would be great if there was a playlist by folder creation function as well.
i got a problem with dis player it get freezed i dono y.... pls help me....
I just tried this out and it certainly contains the eye candy I love while still mainting usability. If I go past the Z however, it spins the opposite direction without stopping. I have to go to view mode then back to the three to stop it.
I love the automatic album art downloader too. Does it save the art to the actual mp3 file or to the app itself?
Crazy concept. I like it!
For some reason, I can't find it in the market. Is it still there?
so search Rockon and you will find it

Yep, search for rockon and it's the third one down if i remember correctly. unfortunately the "3" is "³" as in cubed. Not sure why they chose such a hard to search for name...
I hate to say it but I've moved back to the stock music player. I can't stand how this player functions and it is painfully slow.
Probably known by many, but this one's new to me. I was watching a google play movie on my 10.5 while riding the elliptical a couple days ago and I
swept (to the left) a spec of dust off my screen and the movie rewound 10 seconds and then continued play. I found out that I could fast forward or
reverse the movie by sweeping my finger across the screen either direction while it's playing. I honestly was not aware if this feature and now find it
very convenient (especially if I'm interrupted).
Furthermore, my fiancee is unable to duplicate this on her xperia tab. So I"m not certain if this is possible with most devices or if it's unique to kitkat
or what.
P.S. Do we have Tab S "Tips & Tricks" thread here? If so, I'll delete this and repost if it's not already mentioned.
MX Player does the same on any device so I don't think it's this tab.
In addition to the RR/FF, Most video players will change the brightness if you swipe up/down on the left hand side, and change the volume by swiping up/down on the right hand side
Unfortunately Google themselves haven't added those bits to Play Movies, or YouTube but MX Player, VLC etc all tend to work that way.

You're definitely right about it not being exclusive to the tab s, but I find it interesting that you can't use this feature with google play movie on the xperia tablet.

You'll have better luck in the xperia's forum then.

Thanks. I'm good though. I really just wanted know if was a unique to kitkat or specific to the tab s as well as share "my find" with others who may not be aware of it.
Hi Guys
Does anyone know of an app that will let you lock the screen of your phone but still leave it playing and showing what it was before, like vide?
Example:
I have an "ABC song and video" I downloaded for my 16 month old son. He loves he, it keeps him happy and entertained for 10 mins at a time (Which is a long long time at that age ha), the trouble is, in that 10 mins he inevitably gets a bit excited and pokes the screen, or picks it up. This pauses the video and ofc he doesnt know how to resume. I need an app that would like float over the top or something that makes it so if he presses the screen nothing happens. Functionally, to unlock it it'd be nice to press the lock button (Which would cause the phone to lock fully) and then be unlocked normally.
Anyone know if that is possible, or if it already exists?
Thanks
Adam

Thank you very much I had MX player already but I didnt know about the kids lock plugin app.
That was only an example though, there's other things like watching random stuff on youtube, or general gallery video's which would be nice to lock too.
If someone would want to make 1, there isnt anything like it and I would pay £5 for it if i could lock any app working like the kids lock on MX player does.
Thanks
Adam

MX Player has a kids lock option.. And I think you can put videos onto loop as well..
Be warned though, you will soon regret it. My eldest son is a big fan of the CBeebies app and I swear I now know every word by heart...

Hello xda,
Now what I am posting today is NOT THE EFFICIENT way of playing YouTube songs or videos in the background but it is effective. This will shouw that youtube background playback is poasible. I hope someone can understand thh logic and convert this into an application or an xposed module at some point.
Step 1 - ask a friend to call you in a while, say 30 seconds
Step 2 - meanwhile open a YouTube video so that when your friend calls you YouTube automatically pauses it for you
Step 3- take the call and press home button in between the call and then just disconnect it
Your videos should continue playing in the background
Again, I am not saying this is a trick or sth. I am just sharing so that someone can use this and actually make it a trick to play YouTube videos in the background.
PS-the currentxposed module doesn't work for me
PS2- I am facing a problem with my phone, for which I posted in the nexus 5 troubleshooting group but no reply as of yet. Could you please give it a look and help me out there. Here's the link

Current YouTube Background Playback doesn't work because it hasn't been updated to work with the current YouTube, yet... You can simply downgrade your YouTube using XInstaller or Uninstall then Install an older version.
