Sometimes I have my phone in my hand and I see a one inch high portion of my screen selected and the option to "dock" it to the top of my screen. What is that? I've researched "pin to top" on the s8 and s9, and that is similar...but what is this feature and how do you do it on the note 8?
Right now it's just happening and Id like to learn more about the feature.
Note 8 owner for one mont by the way.

Anybody else notice this when I am swiping the screen on my note eg between homescreens when I reach the limit of the screen ie it cannot be swiped any further a blue band appears from the edge and stretches from the edge and fades as long as my finger pressure is applied and when pressure is released the blue band disappears
I hope I am making sense with the description. Is this a feature of the Note?

Yes. It's not just homepages, it happens with almost every app with a scrollbar.

Many Thanks for the reply I have not seen this on any device before, interesting feature.
You will also find this on cyanogenmod but in orange.
The reason behind this is that the previous scrolling bouncing effect previously used is pattented by Apple, so Samsung had to to change to something different to avoid having to stop selling their products.
Yup, same with MIUI

Dear All,
I have been using the Snote apk i got off Sam mobile, but today I started trying Samsung notes. What I can't figure out is, when you use the Create note shortcut (when one comes out) you can expand the new note and write from the very edge of the screen. But when you save it and edit it (or do a new note within the app,) it will not let you write on the edge of the screen. Instead this is used to scroll up and down using the pen. People moaned the Note 8 was not wide enough, and I agreed. I think the Note 9 does feel wider.....but then they limit your writing width space by giving you a slider bar! Really! Lol.
Does anyone know if you can turn the slider off? You can go up and down pages on everything else without the need for a side slider on both sides of the screen!
Many thanks.

This seems to be just what Samsung decided on margins (there's the same blank space on the left too) ... if you go in the "Brush" tab you get edge to edge again, but then it is added to the note as an inserted image with those same margins. I don't see, or have ever read of a way to turn this off or adjust margin width.
This isn't an issue for me as I don't really go the far to the edge- pen often slips off edge if I get too close to the curve. Plus, I prefer S-Note which doesn't have these margins.
Sorry, this isn't much help... maybe go back to S-Note (there is an official apk on the Galaxy App Store)?

Hi - no thats ok, thank you for replying! S-note is good, and i have used it always on the note 8, its only trouble is, the pen is way less reponsive with s-note in comparison with Samsung notes - so its a shame. Its not the end of the world.
thanks though.

I guess it's a case of personal preference. I find the Samsung notes a downgrade from the S-note and was a shame that Samsung removed the creative features of the S-note app (photo note, idea sketch, easy chart etc). The device is made complete by the software so I cant see the sense in removing useful software which was productivity enabled! I have all these features enabled however (thanks to the guys here) so perhaps you might feel differently if u had those features enabled on the S-note. I know there is a Note 8 thread somewhere and this was discussed and resolved.
Hey can anyone tell me how do i get color point feature from Galaxy A50(or similar) and s10 plus camera.
Unless someone ports the camera apk, you don't.
if you are on one ui on your note 9... goto the pic you want to "color pop" then hit edit in the lower left (pencil symbol) then hit menu in the top right... you should see the option there.
What mhtruth said is as close to the feature as we get with our note 9s
Coming from iPhone 12s where are IG, Tweets, FB and messages would appear in a large 1/2 lock screen then disappear after 10 sec.
On the Pixel we have show content on lockscreen but just get a icon showing messages pending but don't show the message?
Any ideas what we are doing wrong?
AOD just showed icons. Screen on lockscreen can show the entire notification as long as you did not enable to hide sensitive information on lockscreen.
Thank you I am wondering if its something in Android 11?
Have the setting toggled to show all content vs hiding and still not working.
1st picture is what I want on iPhone 12
2nd picture is what I am getting on Pixel 5?

Just expand the notifications with a 2-finger-downswipe on 'em.
Thank you need to be able to preview without having to touch the phone like we could with iPhones and OnePlus 8
Looks like these phones won't work
Thanks you for the help!
I can't personally see why you'd want to see a notification taking up half the screen, but a quick look in the play store seems to show a bunch of options for customizing the lock screen to match the ios display. I have no experience with any of them, so your mileage may vary. Good luck!

The end user had a stroke and minimal use of fingers this way they can view the feed and not have to touch the phone!
We went back to iPhone 12 it was more easy for there need.
Thanks apps didn't work.
That makes sense, I'm sure there is an accessability option for it, but at that point it's probably easiest to stick to what you know.

THANK YOU again for the help and suggestions its a nice small phone hate to send it back.
When using either app and using the app control to go full screen, does the video image extend past the camera cutout, all the way to the bezel?
I'm using the OnePlus 7T right now and neither of these apps will do that. There's a black bar hiding the camera notch. Netflix and YouTube do extend bezel to bezel because their developers are using the right Android API flag to do this.
I think that OnePlus developers do not implement the "show app in fullscreen" feature the same way the OneUI does. OnePlus support says it's up to the app developers, but I suspect that in OneUI and selecting to display an app in fullscreen, the OneUI layer doesn't actually tell the video app that there is a camera cutout, bypassing whatever flag app developers use. TLDR, can one answer my above question please? Thanks.
PLEX does not, but it does go right to the very edge of the camera, though if the video is cropped with black bars, it will be in further.
Prime video also just goes to the edge of the cutout. Unless I go into Android settings and force full screen for Prime. Then it goes all the way to the bezel. Plex does not appear to do that.
It appears there are multiple ways an app can go full screen because I have seen games that extend all the way to the bezel and others that just go to the edge of the cutout.
