Hello everyone,
recently, I bought a Huawei P20 Pro. Great phone and everything, but since I have it I have problems with my Google Timeline. It is veeery inaccurate, telling me things like I drove 1.5 km in 20 hours or things like that. Also the location of the timeline is very inaccurate, when I'm somewhere let's say for 4 hours, the timeline doesn't even recognize it. Before that, I had an Oneplus 3 and 5 and a Samsung Note 8, never had troubles with those phones. Some guy at my local Huawei store told me that there are some issues from Google in the 8.1 Update and that Huawei can't do anything about it, I highly doubt that. My personal opinion is that is has something to do with the Google Maps or Location services being unable to "run" in the background and therefore being unable to collect data about my location. Raw data in google maps timeline on a PC is also quite a mess
Build number: CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432)
EMUI and Android version: 8.1.0
Android security patch: 5 May 2018
Only have one google account connected
Thank you in advance for any advice or help
Here is the same situation. The same software version, supplemented with Google Maps 9.7.2
While on the move, the position is accurate and fast, but as it falls in the background, the starting point does not send data from the moment. The application's cache and full deleting has been reinstalled. Restoring the phone to factory default has also failed. I tried two different gmail accounts, unfortunately unsuccessful.

Hello All,
Apologies if this has been addressed already. I did try to search for the issue and have found various articles outside of XDA, but none internally. Yesterday, or perhaps the day before, I noticed I was unable to update any of my apps via the Google Play Store.
I tried the basic troubleshooting steps.
Reset mobile data.
Did a clear cache and data on the Play Store app, as well as Google Play Services (this also kicked me back to an older version of play, when I go to settings and click build, it says it will install a new version of Play, i.e. the one I had prior to a Data clear, but I never get it).
Removed and re-added my google account on my phone.
Stopped short of doing a factory reset, as I am not too keen on doing so just yet.
Called Google Support (or rather, used their callback feature built into the play store app), and they were absolutely clueless. The guy literally said, there is no solution to this problem and hung up on me, sounded like the gentlemen may have been from Africa, or the call center in Africa. Whatever the case, it was clear he had absolutely no technical knowledge or ability other than reading 3 lines from a script.
In any event, has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and is there a solution and/or any insight or updates regarding this?
Thanks in advance.
Do you get any errors from Play Store while trying to update apps?
No errors, whatsoever. Just stuck on downloading. Tried it over WI-FI and it still didn't work. Then went tried a different Wi-Fi and was able to download apps and update apps again, but I still can't download or update anything over my mobile network.
At one point, I got a timeout message coded (925). Searched around for that, and none of the fixes worked (I had already tried tjose fixes anyway).
MODERATOR, please move this to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 forum. Apologies. I was at work when posting this, and didn't check which forum I was in when posting. This should be addressed in the T-Mobile Note 5 forum. Thanks!!
Clear data and cache of Play Store app, then connect to VPN (change your IP address to another country), and run Play Store, see if it works or not.
Ok TAEL, I will try this and get back to you.
Found the culprit. Apparently, on the Note 5, there are fine grained settings for restricting background data for certain apps and processes. I had restricted background data for "Media", and this was the issue. Thank you for your help!
You silly guy, you.
So this morning I got a notification that my Note 5 (N920I) was finally ready for the Android 6.0 upgrade that Samsung promised months ago. Great. Finally I could get in on some of the upgrades.
I put my device on to charge and allowed it to complete the update process. Everything seemed to be going well after the upgrade until I was hit with a barrage of errors. Every single App failed to update through the Google Play Store without exception (error 495). Then, I got errors telling me that Chrome, Maps, Wallet, etc. would not run properly until I updated my Google Services. Fine. I went to update that and, just like every other app, it too failed to update.
I then went online for the next 4-5 hours and employed every single suggestion I could find, within reason. To summarize my attempts, I have done the following:
- Cleared the cache/data of Google Play Services, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, Download Manager, the Google App.
- Removed then added my Google account to my device.
- Changing my DNS settings from DHCP to Static and adding 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4 as per a known solution to a similar problem.
- Connected my phone to my computer to try and search for the smdl2tmp1.asec file as per a known solution.
- Switching WiFi networks from my home location to Starbucks, then Barnes & Noble, then Best Buy.
- Switching to Data/4g
- Updating the time/date in my device as per Google's known solution.
- Uninstalled Updates to the play store and Google Services (Now I am just stuck with an old app store.)
- Checked for further system updates.
- Ensured Download Manager was still enabled.
At this point I am at a complete loss. This is the first time in my life that I've run up against a problem so ridiculous, yet so persistent, and been unable to solve it. I really don't want to have to do a factory reset.
My device is a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 N920I International Version running android 6.0.1 and is not rooted, nor has the knox ever been tripped. Firmware build is MMB29K.N920IDVU2BPD3.
I'm grateful for anyone that can provide any insight/help with this.
I am using Huawei Mate 10 Pro (BLA29) for about 3 months and even from the start I noticed that location history on Google maps is not reported correctly. GPS locations are pretty inaccurate and often not stored at all, entire days are missing. Navigation on Google maps and other apps is working great, no problem with GPS positioning or other issues.
Anybody else encountered this problem and more importantly did you managed to solve the issue?
I have an S10 (exynos, sigh).
And although there have been two play Store Google Photo updates since the new heat map feature was released, I don't have this feature in the Google Photos app.
I have tried:
- Restarting phone
- removing Google Account and readding
- uninstalling GPhotos updates (it comes preinstalled, so can't uninstall completely without rooting)
- clearing data and cache
(MANY combinations of the above, sometimes all of the steps)...nothing makes Google Photos look updated.
My wife's Huawei P30 Pro got the new features almost same day as to Google announcing the feature.
My secondary Huwaei P20 Pro also does NOT have the new features...could it possibly have something to do with my Google Account??
Thanks in advance for any pointers (as I really want to use that new Google Photos feature)
Update:
My Google account seems to be the problem... IPhone XS, P20 pro, Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
All show the "old" Google photos app.
But if I create a new Google account, BAM, new features on.
Anyone know why?
I have the Huawei p40 pro for 2 months. I installed all my apps using Aoura store, everything works great, no issues. I tried to install the Google services, it was hell to get it work but the results make me reset my phone and went back to Aoura. 3 things you need to know about google services to this phone:
1.you need to downgrade to 131 firmware, it was hell to do that!
2.battery drain with google services!!!!!
3.no whatsapp, gmail, outlook notifications!!!

It was easy to got back to .131, I did from .147. I installed Google services etc then updated to Aug security patch .154. I have wattsapp and outlook notification but I don't use Gmail so can't comment on that. While it was a pain to get G services on I'm glad I did as now my banking apps work in the UK, the only thing I miss is contactless payments from the phone.

Battery drain may be an issue. I don´t know, as I use google framework etc on this phone since the beginning. And for sure it will not drain the battery more than on other devices and negliable in contrast to "screen on apps" as youtube, for instance.. or gaming....
During the night my device drains about 2% of battery capacity (within 7-8hrs); I can deal with that. Everything else depends on how you use your device.
Regarding your first post, google services have nothing to do with whatsapp. Furthermore downgrading by hisuite proxy ist pretty easy and notifications work, at least for me.
But you are right. Aurora store is fantastic. I use it for all apps except for those I paid for. And it is nice to be independent from google, but...
my reasons why I finally installed the google services:
1, I wanted my paid apps back (e.g poweramp, SD Maid pro, Windfinder pro etc).
2, in app purchases, if necessary in future.
3, I have all my contacts and calendar on my google account and and i'm glad that all my data in this regard is automatically synchronized with my phone again.
4, Google map implementation and some other stuff... now all apps working again.
Of course I can live without google services, especially as I´m a friend of debloating as much as possible. Maybe I will change my decision in future. It´s a nice idea to be independent from google (or apple).... as much as possible.
For someone like me, I need some amount of GMS. For example, my city's bike share and car share programs require GMS. Unfortunately, I cannot get either of them working with the solutions for GMS so far.

Man if I turn back to .131 is it enough to use lzplay or do I have to begin the manual installation?
Do you have a guide?
Thank you
No option at the moment to install google services Google blocked all ways to do that.
how is it possible to downgrade to 131?
All guides are so confusing, especially in the proxy thing
is there any step by step guide?
