Edge panel dissappeard - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hey
edge panel suddenly disappeared and I can't open.
I tried everything from restarting the phone to wiping the cache. Its just gone. Anyone with a similar problem and maybe a solution??

Is the Edge panel window enabled in settings? (Settings - Display - Edge Screen, toggle switch Edge-Panel to on?)
What changed or what did you do before the Edge Panel disappeared?

I got the latest security update and it switched off edge panel and things like swipe to capture. Just go back in and re-enable them.

How about a real solution. Setting is ON.

Edge lighting animation stopped?

My edge lighting animation suddenly stopped running, anyone knows the problem?
All settings are turned to ON and the supported apps. Even at the edge lighting advanced setting menu, whenever you change the colors\width\transparency it should animate. but not anymore. it just light up a solid color.
Tried also running on safe mode still no luck...

Luckily mine still works...but only for Messages. Anyway, try looking for the Edge app in app lists and clear data/cache?

While in the apps list screen, hit the 3 dots, to right corner, show system apps. You'll see an app called Edge Screen. I'm guessing cause edge lighting is within the edge screen menu, it might be related.
In the developer option do you have your animation off?
For me if I have animation off the edge lighting will not work.

Turned back on the "animator duration scale" within developer options and it works now
Thanks all

Tasks Edge Panel

So I've been experimenting with the Tasks Edge Panel and I've come across a problem. I want to add shortcuts like driving directions created as a widget from the Google Maps app. The issue is that I can only add them to the panel if they exist on my home screen somewhere. If I delete the widget from my home screen then they disappear from the panel. Not much point in having the shortcut on the panel if I have to have it somewhere else too.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
No suggestion, but this has been fixed, for a certain value of fixed, in the October 2018 security update.
If you reset your phone, your shortcuts will be stuck in the Tasks Edge settings, and you will not be able to remove them. New entries will disappear just like always.
I ended up just using a different edge panel that is for widgets only. It's a 3rd party add on but it works ok

edge lighting when screen off with or without AOD not working

Hi, anyone can figure out what may prevent edge lighting from working when screen off with or without AOD? How can I submit a system log or something to help you diagnose?
All settings is enabled for always and all apps, nothing I can think of that can block it... See screenshot
This has been an enigma since its introduction.

Bump, same facking problem for me.
When you enable edge lighting make sure you enable it on apps you want it to work on and then make sure apps is also enabled to send notifications in the settings aswell. I did notice some apps may not function with edge lighting but most of my apps works fine otherwise.
I forgot to update my solution. It's all working now. No help from Samsung and Samsung member community.
Basically, it will work with all apps, just make sure any " pop-up" setting is turn off as it conflicts with the edge lighting waking the phone with the pop-up.
To fix when screen is off, you Neff to go into app to turn off led notification or in the settings/ display/ led do it doesn't conflict when screen is off.
This, should fix when screen on and screen off. Some apps may be more persistent like WhatsApp and Facebook as it has I it's own pop-up and led settings. Good luck.

I don't use edge lighting as it's only one time and doesn't repeat like led as a reminder to check notification. If you're not looking at the screen then you won't see it again and since pop-up and led is off, you won't get notified so it's pointless.
You can go to the app and look for pop-up notification or light. And check, in system settings/ app/ notification

I have a weird issue... some chats doesn't work with edge lighting and others does... (screen off)

Help pls: Toggle full screen off on all apps on 960U1 Oreo.

Hi,
Unlocked version Oreo (not going to PIE since it affects call recording and whatever else it changes). N960U1UEU1ARL1.
Some of the apps cannot be toggled of for full screen apps. Option is greyed out. I like having navigation buttons around all the time not hindered by full screen.
Any workaround to get the toggle option available for all apps so that any app can be toggled full screen on or off ?
TIA

Notifications panel not showing up (among other issues)

I'm rocking my op3t with RR for about 3 years now with relatively the same setup - RR 7.1.2 rom (haven't touched twrp in about 2 years).
My phone sometimes gets stuck in camera apps then I do a quick reboot and it's all fine.
Earlier today I encountered the same issue, restarted and now I can't access qs tiles (I can't scroll the notif bar beyond the top row) and (perhaps more importantly) - no notifications are showing (although I see that there are on my home launcher).
Moreover, my recents and home buttons don't seem to function. The buttons themselves work (i.e. they light up and double tap functionality on my home button to screen off works just fine), just these functions don't work.
I tried to tweak in the settings - *specifically* the notification panel, home and recents functions doesn't work.
I'm reaching out for help before flashing the ROM again (I do not want to handle any more tweaks on this phone so I would rather a more simple fix).
Tried rebooting several times, haven't solved the issue.
I'm not sure what exactly is at fault here and I have no clue as to how to further investigate (beyond reflashing).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: to be clear, the notifications don't show up to the point where they don't even show up in the lock screen.
