FIRST: THIS ONLY APPLIES TO SONY'S STOCK FIRMWARE, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT'S ON CUSTOM ROMS! THIS WILL NOT FIX ANY HARDWARE ISSUES!
Hey guys, a quick advice for you concerning the noise during video capture/sound recording:
Recording sound(via app or video) didn't work although I wasn't rooted so all system apps should still be there. I thought it was some kind of bug. Then, by coincidence, I found a little app that I seem to have deactivated which is called "Sound recorder"(or similar). Just activating it once again solved my problem. It's no dedicated sound recording app, it won't show up on the app drawer. It's needed by sound recording and video apps.
I hope it may be helpful for somebody who did the same mistake as I and wondered why the sound in video captures was...just not there
Cheers!
unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. video recording after activating the app still no go
thx for the suggestion though
Since I have succesfully activated HAL3 on our device, I started getting amazing pictures with the help Google Camera. The noise reduction is off, the quality is crystal-clear, which means that we haveamazing sensors on both our cameras, the rear and front one.
But even with this feature turned on, the quality of the built-in cameras of Instagram, Skype, Google Duo , Whatsapp and Viber offer a very low quality of the image even when taking photos but most important - when making a video call. The quality is awfull, just like the stock camera with it's noise reduction on. Blury image and very low FPS while in a videocall. We have great camera modules on our phone, so how to find in the ROMs a way to make these apps use the best quality available of our cameras? Is it related to HAL1 or HAL3 or is there a code in the kernel that can be modified? Or what is the key to make it work better?
When opening the video camera of the stock camera app - the image is clear and the noise-reduction is off...so it is amazing, even the fps is high, no glicthes. As soon as I switch the camera back to the photo, I get a blury image and low fps in of the viewfinder.... exaclty the same is within any of the above meantioned apps. How to make a better camera quality when using them? I haven't found any solution anywhere on the XDA forum not even on the 4pda forum.
Am I the only one concerned about this fact?
The front camera of this device is OV5675 Sensore and read on their page, it says it can handle video recording of Full HD at 60FPS
Than why did the MIUI limit it's capabilities so low? To make it look like a cheap sensor and sell the phone as budget?
Anyone?
Hello all,
I just ordered my Mi 9 unit and will be expecting in in a week or so.
I read a lot of reviews but all of them were old (day of release) so i would like to ask if we have updates on the following:
Is night mode/ perf. in low light updated?
Notifications issue fixed?
GCAM works for this model without root? Is low light performance better?Audio and Video recording bitrate better than stock app?
Is there a 3rd party video recording app compatible with the Mi9 that records with higher video and audio bitrate? Filmic Pro or Cinema4K maybe?
I read somewhere that Mi 9 is on Google's official list for the Android Q beta programm. Is that enabled? How do i sign? Am i going to be able to keep stock android once the beta programm is completed?
Is there any toolkit similar to Nexus/Pixel ones that make the procedure of installing 3rd party roms easier?
Thanks in advance!
When I use the front camera on a video chat and try using other apps, the camera automatically shuts down. Therefore, im nt being able to multitask and attend a video call. any suggestions on how to clear this up?
It's a bug I encountered so far. To troubleshoot it: when you started the video call, activate the multitask (recent apps), in this way the chat will be reduced to PiP. At least I use this method when I'm making a video call on WhatsApp, and it works.
Hello guys,
The videos recorded with the camera application when they are sent by Whatsapp are sent with very poor quality, with slowdowns (lag), as if the moment of compiling or compacting the video by the WhatsApp app was not right. I have a Mi11 Lite and my previous Mi9 this did not happen (a colleague with the Xiaomi 12 does not have this problem either), it is true that when sending via WhatsApp the quality drops, but in the case of the Xiaomi 12 PRO it is horrible, a video remains useless.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Do you think it's a problem with the phone or WhatsApp?
My Xiaomi 12 PRO is de EEA with actuality version 13.0.17.0 (SLBEUXM) but I have this problem since I bought it, 2 MIUI updates have already passed but the problem has not been fixed
Thank you for your answers.

I was facing the same issue too when I sent the video to my colleague through WhatsApp. They complain that the video is stuttering and unpleasant to watch. Then I tried to send through WeChat, the quality is good. So I guess it's due to WhatsApp. You may try to send through other apps and see the result.
Thanks for your answer, yesterday I installed GoogleCamara and if you record the video from the Google Camera and send it it is seen correctly...then it makes me doubt if the problem is Miui Camera...I found complaints from Oppo users with the same problem. It's a problem that annoys me very much, I love the phone, it's amazing, but these things leave a bad taste in my mouth... and even more so being a €1,000 phone... let's see if with some WhatsApp update or of the Miui Camera is solved. greetings and thanks
Try to recording in 4k e not in 8k

Hello, i recording at 1080p 30/60fps, de problems not is the resolutions, is the Miui Camera Vs Whatsapp compression... if i recording with GCam and send this video dont show this problem... for my, this is a very big mistake and i belive that Xiaomi o Whatsapp will not fix this problem because i readed that OnePlus models or Oppo models show the same error and not fixed never... I will wait 1 or 2 new updates for Miui or for Whatsapp, if this problem not fix i will sale the Xiaomi 12 PRO. I loving it this phone but i belive can't have this mistaks a phone cost 1000€.
If someone can think of how I can solve the problem or contact Xiaomi to see if they know they have this problem in their "top of the range" phone, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Last MIUI version (.18 EEA) and the last Whatsapp version (2.22.13.70), both updated yesterday and we continue with the bad compresion with the sending videos... very sad.
I'm also using version 13.0.18 (EEA), and the videos recorded by Miui Camera work perfectly on whatsapp.
Try to update your camera to version 4.3.0 (Chinese Rom), and in the camera settings, make sure to use the h.264 codec

Thanks for your answer, i will check. Do you had the problem with the old Miui Camera version? Actually i have a 4.3.004030.0 version, where do you downloaded your version? Thanks for all.
This weekend i could test with differents videos resolutions and discovered that when do you recording with 4K 30 or 60 FTP this problem with Whatsapp disappear or is it not so obvious but if you recording with 1080 30/60 the problem appears.
Hi Guys. Easiest solution to this is disabling both HDR and HLG from camera settings menu. Also, do not select HDR manually while recording a video. MIUI 13 has no internal decorders to convert HDR/HLG videos back to normal while sending in whatsapp.

This did not work for me. The only thing that worked was switching to 4K which is not really a viable long term solution. Anything 1080p does not send properly. However, if I run the video through something like "stabilize footage" in Google Photos and then send it, it will be fine.
Nonono, nothing solved. Pictures taken by whatsapp or insta are very very poor like Very low resolution. Also videos taken directly from the app. This phine is like a **** of xiaomi didn't find a solution it is a garbage
Any news?
Still no solution, I'm on miui 13.0.10.0 and camera is updated 4.5, and whatsapp latest version. It's still a stuttershow. Poor
Send the video to telegram then from telegram send it to whatsapp. seems to be the only solution
If I convert it to 720p in the editor, it will 'solve' the problem
This is the last time I buy Xiaomi.
Had enough of them.
Also the issue with the mute button during a call is frustrating .
Also having the same issue with a Mi 11i. Any video that gets compressed or reencoded by WhatsApp turns into a stuttery blurry mess. Very annoying.
Just realized I have same problem
I understand no solution?
Gotta try with my xiaomi 13 pro, will let you know
Here's what I found out.
1. Whatever the resolution, if I enable HDR, when sending via WhatsApp the other party receives only one second of footage with wrong colors
2. If using H.264 or H.265 but 1080p and no HDR, sending via WhatsApp, the other party receives a stuttering video
3. If setting 4K or 720p and no HDR, video received is smooth
