Hello
Currently I have US unlocked note 8 and using Telus which is one of Canadian carriers.
Unfortunately Volte is not available for US unlocked note 8 probably due to different CSC country code.
If I flash firmware for Canadian will I fully be able to use carrier specific features?
Is there any guide for this ?
Thanks for reading.

Hey! I have kind of a similar issue. i bought my s8 from Canada (service provider : bell). When i moved back to India, i needed region specific apps like SPay to work. Then i could manage to change CSC code from BMC (Bell) to XAC (Canada unlocked). However, i need to change it to INS. I downloaded Indian s8 firmware. But i am not sure if i can flash HOME_CSC using Odin as my S8 is a snapdragon variant(obviously) and I'm really worried if it would brick my device. Or if i would not receive OTA's (Because ONE UI is all I'm looking for) . Please guide me here.

well global firmware(if there is such a thing) would be more towards the n960f since it is more popular and also the same same chipset as ure phone. its sold in UK, greater asia, india, Oceania etc...)
the n9600 is a snapdragon chip. and only sold in china and south America.
but regardless you cant flash stock firmware on different model devices. its a known fact.
if you root then u can flash custom n960f roms no problem on the n960n.(i have it too and been flashing all sorts of custom roms made for the F variant)

u cannot flash any other stock firmware than n960n with odin.
if you want to flash a custom rom.zip , you need to install twrp recovery and root. this will void warranty and also trip knox and some services will no longer work:
samsung pay
might be others.
please read the guides and discussion forums for more information on rooting.

what do you think, because I am a beginner I better use the current stock ROM (N960N) or have to replace another ROM? actually I just don't like Korean accents and Korean network operator logos when I turn it on or trun off my device because I'm already outside Korea. then what is the ROM recommendation for me?

As a beginner the best and most important thing you need to do is research and read up on these topics.
Head over to the development forum and see what each rom offers and choose the one which sounds most suitable for you.
None of us can answer whats best for you dude only you know that.
The nice thing is you can flash and try out as many roms as you want!

I too want to flash the Spanish stock ROM, so as to get rid of d the bloatware and also to use Samsung Pay. A friend of mine told me to buy the Korean version and then flash the Spanish stock ROM, which he did with his note 8 and didn't trigger Knox. I'm getting the Secure Check Fail: Bootloader error when trying to flash with Odin, it's stuck at SYSTEM flashing. Don't know what to do anymore, tried rebooting everything, changing USB ports, running Odin as an admin, and flashing different versions of Android.
Can anyone help?

then u say that you were aslo told to flash a spanish firmware from a sm-n960f device.
that is very very misleading.

I know for a fact that the Korean variant of the Note 9 and the international variant both run on the exact same hardware. With the only differences being in the bloatware included with the Korean variant. So theoretically speaking installing the Spanish N960F/D variant's OS onto the N960N should work perfectly without any issues

it work only if you flash a custom ROM, even thought they are the same but you cannot flash a F/D firmware with odin in N model, it mos be a bootloader thing or something else.
by the way the n9600 is a snapdragon model so that is even more impossible.
Update: 1
I was able to change csc in Q for our n960n and this is how i did:
I flashed Superstable Q rom and the Dev included the option during installation in aroma to chose a different csc, i keept using the rom for 2-3 days and didn't have any issues, but before returning to Pie i did tested Dr.ketan's Q rom rom and Alexndr's-devbase Q rom and in both cases i still had my csc.

Im opening this thread to find a solution on how to change the csc on note9 n960n in android 10.
Doing so in Android Pie was easy ( of course with help from this great community ).
there is a tool provided here called - Csc selector - which i used and it worked great ( for note8/note9/note10), some roms offer the option to chose during installation.
when i updated to android 10 it changes the csc i had, probably because Samsung made some changes so i guess we will have to wait until more csc are released with updating process still in the way.
i will post any news/tutorial i find here and hopefully you too.
Almighty bump for this frustrating problem. I too am on the incorrect CSC on Q...everything works so I just ignore it but I can't help but think I am not getting the reception I would otherwise be getting if all available bands were utilised. I am on n960 FDS and should be on XSA CSC but I'm on XSG.
I'm not sure there are even Android 10 roms available for XSA region code yet.

We might be near because Samsung keeps releasing android Q to more regions for n9 and s9 now started to get its update.
I'm not sure how they've done it but there is a fix if you are prepared to flash a non-stock rom or already have.
You can flash either Alexandr's Devbase or Zeus Rom beta from the zeus telegram group, and before flashing rename the rom zip to include your appropriate csc followed by _. Read first post of devbase for details, it worked a treat for me and I didn't even think XSA was available for Q roms yet.

that doesnt work for my device i have an n960n and the only supported csc are KOO, KTC, LG, SKC, i can change to one of those in alexandr's rom ( by the way i love that rom and i came back from it to pie because of this problem) but no to n960f csc's so i guess i will have to wait until there is a mod to change csc in android q.
thanks for your reply.
Maybe you can try with Samkey software, but it's not free.
Even I am in this boat, I downloaded an n960f rom and tried to flash the csc on my n960n.
And yeah it failed.
Wish it were an easier process.
I just want the random reboots to go away on q.

No need to reset device to change csc if you already have a multi csc firmware for example OXM. Use phone info or something similar from play store to check.
I used samkey (purchased 2 credits from ebay for $5) and in a minute changed csc to THL

Buy samkey credits from ebay (you need 2 to change csc) you get them in a form of a username and password
Download samkey from theit website
Connect N10+ to your pc with the cable you got with your phone
Open samkey, input username and password, input THL in the csc field and execute. (my first attempt failed with a server error the second one suceeded)

thanks for your input but this model of note 9 - n960n is made for Korea and i has only 4 csc - KOO/LG/KTC/SKC , these csc have limitations when used outside South Korea which is the case for me, because of this i have network issues so i want to change it to a n960f model or multi csc so i dont have those network limitations.
i changed my phones csc to multi csc with a flashable tool "csc selector" and i works great but this works only in PIE, samsung made some changes in Q and it doesnt work.
Oh, ok, didn't know the story about n960n.
I need to change too!

If you mean N960N, Yes you can as i mentioned couple post ago.
You need to root your phone by following the instructions in note 9 guides forum, then go to note 9 rom development forum and choose the one you prefer.
So i bought this phone here in the middle east and i noticed that the firmware is from USA (Sprint). and i feel that the phone is used or refurbished. My question is:
1. Can someone easily modify the RTN so that the reconditioned status will be "No" so it would look like its not a refurbished one?
Also i noticed that samsung pay is showing deals from USA, my second question is:
2. How to change the country of samsung pay to a middle east one where im currently residing?
Edit: I have a SM-N960U Phone if that helps.
Edit2: Also why its not updating to Android 10?

1. I have no idea about this. sorry.
2. no, you cant. you have a Sprint version so you just can use samsungpay in US according to your phone's CSC (if your phone's knox hasnt been tripped, ofcouse).
2bis. the U version cannot update to android 10 by OTA. you can use odin to flash the latest firmware to your phone. Since you're living in middle east so i suggest using the U1 version's firmware to get rid of all Sprint's bloatwares.

You have to flash latest android 10 u1 firmware
I have the same model n960u from verizon and i am in middle east too.
But sadly Samsung pay will only work in usa.
Download link latest u1 firmware.

If you want everything work in middle east then you better sell this model and get international model N960F dual sim.
But in my opinion N960U is much more better because it has snapdragon 845 SOC chipset with adreno gpu its very powerful for gaming and battery efficient
and N960F has exynos with mali gpu and it's not that good as snapdragon.
And also thoisands of users has screen discoloration issues "hardware failure" with exynos model after android 10 update.
Apart from Samsung pay everything will work fine same as international model if you flash u1 firmware

Not quite true about these things:
- samsungpay: here in asia, US version N960U can use sspay with some US banks' cards, ex: citibank credit card.
- screen discoloration issue: many Snap version phones have that issue too afaik, so i dont think its chip related. But yeah, the cause is still unknown.
I do agree that snap version is more powerful than exynos one.

It doesn't matter it's just csc code for who use American sim card.
If you use this phone non american sim it will use xaa unlocked csc code by default no matter which firmware csc you flash
They all comes multi csc firmware.
I recommend you to wait until next week because there will be new updated firmware available oneui 2.1 update with tons of new features from note 10.
Tha firmware i gave you the link earlier is oneui 2.0.

Hello everyone I live in th u.s. and use my a71 on att. I bought my phone at rent a center and it has buc1 firmware and the csc is TTT (Trinidad and tobago). I would like to install a custom rom because I recently rooted and the smartview feature which I use often isn't working right and none of the fixes are either. My question is this: which firmware should I install to get a clean slate and possibly try a custom rom? Not sure why a phone in the US was sold with Trinidad firmware. I would prefer not to flash the stock ttt firmware if possible is there a better option? Thanks guys
hi friend, I have been almost in same situation (different country) and i would like to share with you my experience maybe it will help if you are still looking. some options / features included in the ROM / OS depend on where the device was sold or aimed to be sold initially by Samsung, for example 2 phones same model, same tech specs, same android version, if one is old in Europe with a certain firmware, it may not have same all options / features as same one sold in US or elsewhere .... i bought a device sold initially in Italy and couldn't find samsung pay or fm radio app in it (even that device does support it from hardware side) and not possible to install it as third-partie app either in anyway possible, and it didnt show up even with a custom ROM .... so i did some dig in and found THAILAND firmware for same android version have it by default + others things i was looking for such as native call recording .... basically long story short, as longer you already rooted it, we can forget about warranty, which should gives you more freedom to install wharever you want ... a custom rom is specially to enhance perf by removing some apps and adding some more features that arents includeed in stock firmware ... but if you are okay with basic stock firmware and all its apps and contenents you don't have to install ncessarry a custom rom ... you can juts look for a specific firmware REGION/COUNTRY that have the option you are looking for and go fo it, like i did from Italy to Thailand (while im living in whole different country of those two), and all will be working fine for you ^^
