Hi N7 fellow users
i get MAX 2600 3D and 350 2D in antutu and quadrant though i'm all the time OC the GPU to 520mhz
is that normal ?? i'm running the latest Paranoid Android rom along the latest Franco kernel.
That is about what I get for 3D. If you go to the developer menu you can improve your 2D performance by checking the "Force GPU rendering" . For what it's worth my 2D for Quadrant went to about 1000 after the checking that option.

Thanks for your reply
My htc one X was getting 39xx, 1k higher than my nexus
though they use nearly the same gpu.

quadrant does not measure gpu, it measures fps. and we are limited to 59fps no matter how much we overclock the gpu. use a benchmark like windmill, or basemark taiji, to test your gpu and what tweaking your gpu does. quadrant is an old, out of date benchmark.

i guess i have to forget about all this paranoia coming from the low benchmark scores since every game works xD
(except horn strangely runs about 25 fps it seems, even though i'm oced to 520mhz)
Low of diminishing returns, if you over clock it doesn't mean ull always get higher scores, after ur GPU gets heated up it start to show lower and lower scores.
GPU is stable @ 446 (beyond that when ever it gets heated up it will cause touch and other issues)

Hello guys,
I`ve been trying to find a way to have all 4 cpu cores online all the time to see if it helps playing games (lag) as I tested, for me every game lags when there is only 1 core running, than when the phone needs more power it turns on other cores and it lags, on that exact moment!
Trying Glowball, Tegra 3 game doesn`t lag because every core is on 100% of the time! And I`ve seen users saying that they don`t have lag on their phones because every core is active during gaming sessions, which is not my case.
I tried to use System Tuner Pro > Boot Settings > Force all CPUs online with no success and didn`t try CPU Editor as I don`t know how to install it.:silly:
If you have lags on gaming this might be a solution!
Does anyone know how to keep`em online all the time? 10H here.
Thanks for your help. :fingers-crossed:

Well Glowball doesnt lag because they optimized it for a tegra3 devices. so the problem is the game developer, not the phone as far as i know.
i dont know if what you want can be done.

Well, Shadowgun THD is in theory optimized and lags anyway. It`s just frustrating to have a quad-core high end phone that lags on so many games.
But thank you!

I am playing Shadowgun THD without lag I dont know why, But yes u are right about this problem.
I have tried playing most wanted It iagged but I noticed that the procesor speed are 520 mhz or such, and it makes problems,
So I put maximum 1500 MHz as minimum speed clock, but after playing more then 5 minutes processor speed was not more than 1000 MHz (even with root setup).
It turns that the problem is in the kernel, it is some sort of OVERHEATING protection.
But I am pretty sure that all 4 cores were active even the speeds didn't go more than 1000 MHz.

its not a overheating problem. i play MW and theres is alwasy only 1 core at 1500MHZ at 95%. If the game could use the other cores, it wouldnt.
remember htc has exactly the same problem... its the developer fault coz there is apps and game optimized t use all cores when needed
This sucks right? If this could be done I`m quite sure that the lag problem would be solved or minimized greatly!
If anyone knows something about it please let us know!
Much appreciated.
First if you forced all the cores online ,, then you can use your phone for about 2 hours with overheat . So you will lose your battery .
and about the games it is a problem with our ''kernel'' ,, the kernel is controlling the cpu and the hardware . LG optimized the kernel for long battery use and if you noticed the cpu takes a long time to change the frequency . LG made the phone for daily use .
To test CPU use benchmark ,, not games , games are very complex application and maybe isn't compatible with tegra 3 .
Our phones have nearly the same Galaxy S3 benchmark scores .
And if you noticed our CPU is excellent with miltitasking
you can say our CPU has a hidden power .
Any custom kernel can solve this problems but we have a locked bootloader . So we should wait until JB which has unlocked bootloaders (as LG said)
Trust me, making an app that can even run on more than one thread is hard; very hard

i have that exact same problem and it IS caused by overheating..when temperature goes over 36c the max speed automatically resets to 1000mhz if the min speed was above..but when temperature is below most games work flawlessly

I only faced game lag issue when my device is over heated or when playing multiplayer games (like SG DeadZone) with bad internet connection..never faced such issue due to CPU?
To overcome heat issue I have underclock max speed to 1.2ghz with CPU Tweak app..and it has helped a lot with over heating as well as battery life, and never faced any issue with lag even with 1.2ghz speed..
I have read in many place that even HTC One X behave similarly until JB updates arrived so you dont worry much even if some configuration or app in your device is creating game lags, it will be much better with new JB updates :fingers-crossed:
Quick note:
The Tegra 3 can run only in Single Core mode on 1.5GHz, in other words when your CPU reads 1.5GHz, only one CPU core is being utilised. If you actually want to use all 4 cores, you should set the max frequency to 1.4GHz to avoid the CPU clocking up to 1.5GHz. Lag is caused by switching between all 4 cores on 1.4GHz and single core on 1.5GHz.
I cannot set the max cpu speed. Tried different apps, iam on stock rom v10h, with root, new on p880

actually hardware wise tegra 3 is capable of running all 4 cores at 1.5ghz however almost all of current android app are not optimised for multicore cpu..however i have noticed when monitered using apps that it somerimes uses all 4 cores at 1.5ghz.
However its better this way if its not running all 4cores at full speed...infact i have underclocked mine to 1.2ghz this helps alot to over come heating issue as well as battery life and no issues with HD games

I'm referring to the Tegra 3 T30 present in our devices. The T33 in the HOX+ can run at 1.6GHz in quad core and 1.7GHz in single core. However, the T30 can only run at 1.5GHz single core and 1.4GHz quad core.
To cite Wikipedia,
Tegra 3 T30: 1.4 GHz Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 (up to 1.5 GHz in single-core mode)
IIRC over at the HOX forums there was a thread on CPU management to prevent lag spikes in games when Tegra 3 switches from quad core 1.4GHz to 1.5GHz single core or something along the lines of that.

This app is getting famous now, but in case you didn`t see, it`s called tegra overclock (not tegrak!) and it manages to force every core online pretty well. It has some good other features too.
It`s paid but it`s worth it.
not to mention it DOES improve your gaming experience.

Will do but it may be done in the next month, Thanks for your suggestion.
First of all THANK YOU for spending your time on this and sharing your result with us!
Just flashed the kernel! Good news...nothing is bricked
CPU Spy Plus indeed shows 1836 Mhz used! I did´t do anything for that.
You might re-think this. Using 1512Mhz instead by default and let the users choose that high speed CPU mode themselves as it may not be stable on all devices.
That 324Mhz added is a huge step...there is no step in between possible?
What about voltages. Did you modify anything? Is the voltage raised to achieve the high cpu frequency? Please post some more information about what happens here...
In fact I´m just running Antutu to see general stability on my device.
VERY BAD score. Before your kenel there were 20300 points. Now with OC only 19746.
=====================================================================
EDIT: Just recognized.... several questions are being answered by Antutu CPU Master.
1512 IS USED by default!
1620Mhz and 1728 Mhz are there to choose and of course finally the 1836Mhz.
Scaling is interactive by default (changed to my fav ondemand)
I/O Scheduler is cfq by default (changed to my fav noop)
Antutu Score @ 1836Mhz: 16077Mhz ???
Lower than without OC? Needs retesting (14230 point when setting max to 1836Mhz and Min to 1512Mhz(!!!???)...maybe the benchmark is wrong...Will give it some time to see if I myself feel a speedup.
After Restart Antutu Score ends up @ 19761 points...not bad. but clearyl not enough looking at the massice OC done. REBOOT! Tab just rebooted! So 1836Mhz is not stable at mine! Trying 1728Mhz now instead.
18139 points....this kernel lacks some serious power if we can believe the scores of antutu. This is a V0.1 so nothing to worry too soon. You´ll make it find it´s power
Switched back to kernel from pulser_g2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444452) and 19908 points without any OC! You may look into it.
But please answer the other questiones I wasn´t able to clear myself.

Sorry for my late,
I've tested Antutu with 1512MHz and 1836MHz. For my Tablet Z, I got ~20000 (1512MHz) and ~23000 (1836MHz).
My Tablet Z has fast binning CPU. Can you please tell me which binning your CPU is? Thank you!
hard to tell...did taht thing in Terminal emulator....it tells me "1".
Not fast or slow or anything...

Don´t know....after the disastrous performance of the first release I of course switched back to stock.
Now there is the new version which does not cut performance in stock mode.
I´ll OC now to 1728 Mhz and see how it performs with that....battery life is not really good with stock so if you are already asking...FORGET ABOUT alternative kernels not optimized for battery.
That is why I don´t use CM oder AOKP on my Note1. I just eats the battery for breakfast....
OK OC just seemed to scale...20300 points (ca. 19300 at stock speed)...trying 1836 Mhz now.
17389 points....clear drawback....possibly because my device seems to have a bad CPU from what I´ve learned....wanted to use the 17xx Mhz anyway....oops....device just rebooted....my device just isn´t capable of the max cpu setting. :crying:
Anyway the working 1728 Mhz working is great news!
Will give it further testing...
I have two APQ8064 devices, Nexus 4 and Tablet Z. Nexus 4 is 0 (slow), it will reboot sometimes even on [email protected], the Antutu would force close and red light of death would happen if you ignore it and attempt to run again. While my Tablet Z is 2 (fast), this can run at [email protected] and got 23XXX in Antutu.
I don't have an idea which frequency can the 1 (nominal) APQ8064 clock at, but I think [email protected] will be OK. Also, keep eyes on the CPU float-point section in Antutu. At 1512Mhz, it is around 2000. At 1836MHz, it is around 2200. If this drop lower, just pull up the voltage BUT NOT TOO MUCH!!!

Raising voltage is not an option to me. But anyway...which app do you use for that on tablet Z?
What App do you use for cou control?
I use No-frills. Do you change "interactive" and or "cfq"?
Numbers right after reboot and stopping some unused apps...just stock apps running...
2729 / 930 / 1112 / 1050 / 511 / 927 / 1436 / 5278 / 696 / 600
>>> 15269 points @ stock !!!

What is the terminal command to find out? I also considered custom retelling to add some processing oomph. On a per app basis, but reading this... Stock SGP311 on 4.2.2 is chugging fine just north of 20000 points on Antutu. Can we compare Versions? Mine is 3.3.1. I faintly recall reading they mixed up some benchmarking internals because some corporations found loopholes to cheat / inflate scores on new to market devices, maybe that's the discrepancy there?
Another wild thought, could there maybe be, aside from different CPU Models, different kinds of cache / memory scattered through the devices? Would not be the first time a sub par. Cache/Memory bottleneck severely strangled a nominally and factually quicker CPU into much lower overall results. Much depends on weighting within Antutu
Man, what happened with your kernel? We need some stock kernels for 4.3

Greetings,
This driver is obtained from Qualcomm's 07 Aug 14 drivers for "Qualcomm Adreno 3xx GPU on Nexus 4, 5 & 7 devices running Google Android 4.4.4 KitKat".
All credits go to the folks at Qualcomm for making the developer version of these lib files available for us to play with.
This is for testing purposes only. Please don't flash without backing up first and then start screaming if something happens to your phone!
The package only contains files for Adreno 300 and 330. I cooked the packaged to be flashable on our SM-G900T or any SM-G900 with the Adreno 330 chipset.
I'm on a "XtreStoLite_G900T_ROM_v1.3_UVU1BNG3" ROM, which is a super clean/slim version of the stock rom. This is also Android 4.4.2, my AnTuTu benchmark results dropped from 37400 to 35800 after flashing this package.
I'm requesting someone with a KitKat 4.4.4 ROM to test this and report back their before and after benchmarks.
I appreciate your feedback,
Hmm, interesting.. I'm only on 4.4.2 or I would help out..
Turned out the 3D performance on antutu version 5 with this driver puts our phone one head and shoulder above everyone else!

And this means....... I'm sorry but I don't understand the purpose... Is this supposed to make Tw snappier?
Thanks in advance!
It is updating the video (graphics) drivers. It probably improves the touchWiz performance as well (don't have evidence to support this), but what i noticed was a huge performace increase in the 3D graphics score. This will make games run alot smooter and more efficiently.
To clarify, this file resembles how your Mac/PC has a video card with say NViDIA or ATi video cards and they have their own driver releases. Our phones graphic chipset is designed by Qualcomm and it gets its own drivers as well. Hope I answered your question, and didn't make it worse!

In order to get any real "TouchWiz/Nova/Apex/etc" performance increase from it you'd have to flash this, then venture into Developer's Options and enable Force GPU rendering and Disable Hardware Overlays. And even then our device is so performance driven that you likely would likely not even realize the difference other than giving the CPU a break for a few cycles and possibly seeing a battery life increase depending on whether the CPU or GPU pulls more juice. These drivers are largely made to increase the 3D performance of your device when gaming and while it wasn't meant for us I'm glad to see someone took the time to let us benefit from it.
I'm going to flash it on an NG4 (4.4.2) release and see how it holds up to GPU rendering no hardware overlays. I don't game so if you want an objective test on that someone will have to pick up my slack. I'll report back when I know if it truly impacts it.
Tried flashing the update and ran into a couple random fcs for a few apps. Nothing device-breaking or anything, but I also didn't notice any real difference in performance or framerate in games. But I do appreciate you posting this, I'm always up for trying a little experimentation on my device to find something new. Thanks man.

Don't worry, I didn't forget about you. It takes a few days to really put it through its paces. But here is what you want to know: It works in 4.4.2 Touchwiz (Alliance Rom B4 for me)
Performance Increase in ROM function and control with "Turn Off Hardware Overlays" and Force GPU Rendering: Check
So I tested this by underclocking my CPU to the point where lag was perceivable in things likes app launching, keyboard typing, app draw opening, etc. I dropped it down to about 1200Mhz on all cores and then disabled HW Overlays. It was night and day. After the GPU took over rendering my CPU clock speed hardly moved all of the items previously lagging went right back to being fluid.
So does it help with Rendering in the ROMs? Yes, it definitely can.
The other concern people have is with battery life that goes with GPU rendering and the claims are that the GPU uses more power than the GPU. In my preliminary testing, what I noticed was lower overall CPU temps while Hardware Overlays was off, lower CPU clock speeds since it didn't need to render apps, and a small decrease in battery life.
In the power draw category I need more time with BetterBatteryStats and I need to adjust some variables. I want to underclock the GPU to the point of perceivable lag (if that is possible) and then I want to adjust the governor with KTweaker and see if I can't get better battery life. I will simultaneously lower CPU speeds to keep my core temperatures down and keep the battery cool. If these things are successful and battery life is interchangeable between the two, I may run the GPU full time for rendering the ROM. Keep in mind though, only custom kernels allow this kind of tweaking. If you use a stock ROM you are stuck with CPU and GPU clock speeds where they are so battery will drain faster.
Give me about a week to test my theory on this and see if I can find an equilibrium for CPU and GPU temperature and speed. I'll post the profile I used with KTweaker when I have my results. Until then, if you want to help and find your own settings and post them here along with battery life that would be awesome.
Edit: For what it is worth, to test application launch speeds and UI fluidity with the GPU I completely turned off system animations, I set Nova Launcher Animations Speed to Faster than light and scroll speed to "Fast" (personal preference). I got the same, or better response time using the GPU to render the UI.

Thanks for the detailed response, can I flash this over a cm rom or only "touch wiz" and/or after I updated/flash this no Mauer what rom I flash will it stay. ..?
Thanks in advance! I'm still a bit confused...

I haven't tried it on CM yet, I'm about to flash the 09/04 build of CM11 by Albinoman with KT's kernel. But I won't flash these drivers prior to running the build 24 hours or so to make sure there aren't bugs that existed before flashing the files. So, if you've been running CM for awhile and want to test this build just nandroid, flash, and report any issues.

Ooo that sounds like a killer combo cm + kt kernel + adreno update = project slip n slide lol nah but I'm really curious of what results you might get [emoji4]
And once I flash this, can I go back or will it erase the update once I flash a different rom?
Thanks in advance!!

I'll keep you posted. I wasn't impressed overall with it's performance in Touchwiz on battery life with the CPU underclocked, so I am branching out to a more AOSP-like build. I'll keep you posted to what I find out.

Turned out the 3D performance on antutu version 5 with this driver puts our phone one head and shoulder above everyone else!

This can't be right because right now I haven't flashed the driver update and look at My score
Now imagine that's without kt kernel just stock kernel, I'm on xtralite 3.5a t-mobile, so what if I flashed the kt kernel AAAAND the adreno update.... would my phone explode?!?!
I'm thinking twice now whether I should flash thisor not. ..
You have a good point. I think antutu v5 also rescaled their scoring system. Anyway, post your new score if you decided you want to give it a shot.

This maybe off topic, but does this works on other devices like Z2 or HTC M8 using the same GPU?
43718 before
43292 after
All I did was reboot into recovery, flash the ZIP and then run the test, same clock speed etc..

You guys make me sad. Benchmarks are not now, nor will they ever be, an acceptable means for telling you how capable your device is. Your scores in AnTuTu are about as capable of telling you your phone's speed as your ESN is at telling people who your phone belongs to. It is just arbitrary numbers that will fluctuate up and down based on the slightest inconsistencies.
Drivers, just like in Windows/Linux/Mac, are meant to optimize the performance of your hardware. That's it. This driver likely optimizes the GPU cycles to make it more efficient and lower heat output while performing better in games. You know why hardware review sites start out with benchmarks saying what it can do in a perfect world but still ends the review by telling you it gets 75 FPS in Borderlands 2? They do that because while synthetic tests are nice, what would be the point if our games don't play better? It is the same concept here.
I'm begging you, uninstall AnTuTu, re-install your favorite mobile game and just base performance off of whether it plays better or not.
Side Note: Drivers didn't appear to do anything in AOSP CM11 when I gave it a try. Sorry I am so late on reporting in, college takes up a lot of my time. Also, using the GPU to draw your applications does eat more battery whether you use these drivers or not. So there is no marked improvement from lowering CPU speed and using GPU only to render.

I figured since the OP stated he got less points in Antutu, I would go ahead and use the same app and test to compare...
F*ck me right?
Regardless, I don't notice anything different either, my stats are in the sig.
Lets see who gets biggest benchmark score on our I9305:
mine highest is 21857
which Rom???

mine was on community rom. But doenst matter, wanna see whos got the biggest score, no matter what rom
all maxed out i can reach 22130 but it's totally useless so i configure Agni to get the best battery @1200-200 with -80 uv and -75 for GPU all these with ZEN Scheduler i get 18865 on antutu , not so bad and i can get way more battery without any perf loss
i got 25586 on latest s5 rom and boefla settings on normal lol
