Hello people,
We all know that the XZ2 is yet out and i and we all want to know is that..
Any progress in the drm fix for those that want to unlock thier bootloader and having a fix for our drm so we can mod or whatever finally ?
I am very curious about that like more people so we can run on a custom rom like based on Sony stock with some modifications and so on.
I hope trully we get a drm fix shortly or in the near future.
Please if someone knows anything, share it here or we try to find together a solution/drm fix.
@niaboc79 and @serajr brothers ?
According to the "what will happen when unlock bootloader" thread, we already discussed about it and they speak about their progress there.

It is right that there isn't a finished DRM fix.
Sometimes they post a status update.
Even Qualcomm told that we need to wait until they release the Snapdragon 845 sources.
After that, Sony will officially announce that the xz2 is part of the open source programm and will release further sources.
On 22May XDA said Qualcomm will release source 6 weeks later... so it'll still take about 2 weeks until we get part of AOSP ~.~

I have already checked the firmware. And there is a ready test package for the XZ2 DRM fix on my computer. With the XZ2 there are changes regarding the fix, the old modification probably will not work there. But as I said, I already have the new files here. I'm just waiting for a running recovery. If someone already has something going on, you could possibly test it.
Cheers

5 weeks ago XDA stated Qualcomm is holding it back due to unreleased products for 6 weeks.
"it’s just that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 code drop won’t happen until Qualcomm announces their new mobile platforms"
last week we had the 429 439 and 632 officially released.
The 710 also seems to be out of the bag.
Yet on the CAF there is only SDM660 and no 845

No,
They are development threads made by xda users and are not based on Sony FW
He is asking for a prototype FW from sony, its an initial release of FW for journalistic and testing purposes. It is never released publicily, but there have been leaks in the past (Notably the first Sony JB release was leaked)
I do believe it only works on what are known as "Brown" Devices. i.e not for public sale

Still, original android development roms are not protytype firmware
They are not even firmware (FTF files) but flashable, rooted and heavily modified .zips and nothing to do with official/unofficial releases from Sony
Why Sony is so damn restricted..
Every company has FW they don't release
You will find Sony is actually the most dev friendly OEM there is. That is why they have been voted XDA OEM of the year for the past 3 (Or maybe 4) years.
They are the only company that actively works with devs on xda

With Z1, for example, Unlocking Bootloader, maybe we get new Firmwares. You said XDA actively works with Sony and Vice-Versa, so we still in a middle of nowhere or what? If this is true what you said a solution should be on the way.

True, but that is a user problem, the stock releases have no problem. Its only a problem if you want to "mess" with the phone (Like we all do) then we do so with the caveat that we are messing with a stable system and we may make it unstable in some ways.
That's the fun and the joy in the journey
PS, unlocking the boot does not give you new firmwares. FW are official releases from sony. Custom roms are made by non sony developers and are not official

I agree 100% but Sony do not own Android, even if it is a part of a stable product we messing around with Android and we testing they product. They should be grateful for that. They also learning from us so why don't give the right support to the customers.
We are not testing their product, they do it themselves, they are aware that there is a lot of android users that choose android in order to have more control but a lot of software on the phone is their intellectual property and they have every right to protect it.

What's the betting if it is just a new kernel and this thread is not another hoax, that Sony only release the new kernel as OTA for all the regions that already got bugged 4.3... They clearly halted the rollout of .295 due to all the bugs, so they could smooth that affair over first with OTA and still make everyone else who didn't get .295 wait even longer for .199 in full.
Funny how those .295 sources have only just come out a few days ago as well and then they do a kernel update. Not usually into conspiracy theories but I am starting to wonder if they are trying to teach the community a lesson over that leaked build that disappeared from PTCRB... Devs start working with that so they release .295 with same kernel so devs work with that thinking its final and wait for sources. Sources come out devs start working and now this... They either playing games or seriously stalling to make KK totally unfeasible.

I think they just had to push it .295 thinking of the over kill we would have had when the update would have been released now in March and not February... On the other hand bug fix updates are common these days.
Anyway KK is so not hitting our XT... They managed to delay 4.3 and let's say 4.4 really hits Z line in April we waited almost three months longer for it... So XT is already way out of 18 months deadline and Sony will stick to it and is only awaiting this deadline to be over to change the status to last update my two cents on that
I think it is a shame as the 18 months guarantee is bull.... It should be 18 months from the first update on

+1, i have a OnePlus for that, friendly root, Pure Android (OOS or Custom) :highfive:
Netflix is on my computer or tv, not my Smartphone
They should make something that we could access remotely to update this. Like, c'mon, we are in 2018 they don't our phone in their hands to update it.
So is this done on the hardware level so that it sticks for factory resets and custom ROMs? You know, like official LineageOS 15.1 released today? :fingers-crossed:
And I noticed a few others mentioning locked bootloaders... I don't care if I have to wipe and relock it to have it serviced but will I still get L1 if I unlock and TWRP it again?

I dont think the "update" would surfive a full wipe as there are no extra partitions/chips to write to that we ourselfs cannot. If i'm wrong please do tell..

This update will survive wipes, and can surely be used for OOS based ROMs, OnePlus told me that rooting, unlocking the bootloader will not break the update again and that it is going to stick when on custom ROMs (they haven't guaranteed it tho). The reason why we, users cannot do the update ourselves, is because of Googles requirements - the executing PC must be authenticated to to generate special keys, which are unique to each and every device. It is inconvenient, but it's the only way OP can execute the update.

For what I have seen there are already some roms in development and root, which isn't available for our phone closed with DRM protection.
But at least something is coming out for S9, nothing for the Xperia.
By the way there is Snapdragon version of S9 which is amazing and powerful, so would be a good alternative, but I would not need it if they would fix these basic bugs.
How to know about hardware revision? I know I got H8314 model.

Yes, thanks to project treble, but they can't fix device specific things.
It should be on the box of the smartphone.
Abs after the official announcement, that the XZ2 and XZ2c are part of the open source programm, then you can also use the treble Roms and Sony's aosp image and some guys will make device specific roms.

Anyone having trouble installing this? Doesn't seem want to to install via OTA on my H8296 with 1314-9934 (IN) firmware, keep getting "Could not install."
I'll have to reboot and try again.

You should send it to Sony.

Eh, not yet.
I just used newflasher and Xperifirm and did it manually. Seems OK. Often this is a problem with Sony's updater software. Seen similar issues like this with the XZ and XZ1 where for some reason random updates just don't go (and if I wasn't lazy I'd check the logs to see where the problem lies ).
Does this mean you're OTA went normally for .26?
Anyone got the Android 10 beta update package for rm3s? We can flash it for a manual update
Same question here... Is there an Android 10 update (beta) available for RM3S? if yes, please help us with the link..
Mine runs on NA rom... I didnt find anything from the official channel...
Aru
As far as I know. 3 people have it. And they won't upload it due to Nubia saying it was not to be made public.
At least they are working on it and it gives me a peace of mind
I was told its no longer in development by a reliable source. The last beta was from last year and nothing new since. So I wouldn't be holding your breath for it. And If they do push it out I bet the bugs it has won't be fixed so the Android 9 ROMs would probably be better daily drivers.

Who or what is the reliable source? Just curious, like was it Nubia support, or who...?

In one of your comments on another post, you said you were running it. Would consider sharing it, please?
Lol Red Magic update.
Android 10 is not coming for the RM3 and RM3S. Here I'll explain the beta
The beta was a way to test some of the stuff for the RM5G. They got some RM5G samples out and those were used to test. The update won't come.

Do you have the package though? I don't mind bugs much and would like to test it if possible.

You know what an NDA is? It won't be uploaded and it won't be released by them. 3 people got that update. All had to do a NDA prior to getting it because slot of the new stuff thats in the RM5G is in that rom.
